  1. And to protect the weak and helpless
  2. Making others aware of sikhi. My 2 cents on it. I think before we go reach other communities to teach them about sikhi, we need to first start from our own homes. Our own kids/youth/adults are not clear about many facts/beliefs/marayada etc . I have seen/discussed/argued/heard people close to 60 years of age and still asking why marayda is necessary. I kind of get irritated more by 60yrs olds as compared to 16 year olds. I see that people don't wanna follow set of rules but they do want benefits, they do wanna be called sikhs even if they cann't count even 10 Gurus on fingertips. They wanna be called sikhs, even when they sit in Saloon every week and see their kes katal. This is where I have problems. And people are looking for quick answers/fixes. I think SIKHI is just like any other degree you work for in life. I usually take example of Medical professional. To be doctor, you have to spend 7-8 years in School. Follow set of rules, discipline, practice and live it for the rest of your life. You do get called DOCTOR and you do get the pay of a doctor, but its your hard earned benefits. But on the other hand, SIKHI, we don't consider we should really work for it. We just want the stamp of SIKHI on back/forhead/hand wherever those people wish to. This is the misconception we have to get rid of. SIKHI is earned not just given to you by taking birth in Sikh family. And I also do think that every human is SIKH by birth, its afterwards that how parents raised you which makes you hindu/muslim/christian/catholic/parsi/budhist. I had this statement yesterday too under another topic. Somebody messaged me for clarification. I think it this way. Before a child is born, Gurubani says human birth is given to that soul to meditate on GOD and unite with GOD. Fetus is doing meditation in mother's womb. Its afterwards that slowly slowly depending upon what parents introduce to child that we move far and far away from our connection from GOD. Other fact supporting my statement is that Gurubani says to keep all your body parts the natural way as you were born. If we do that we are sikhs by one measure (of course nam japna is important too). But other religions don't put any restrictions on you for keeping your hair intact and ur private body parts the way they r given to you. Its as far as I know only sikhism which says that (I may be wrong, as I know a very little about other religions). As I said sikhi starts from our own homes. We do need to work on it. Everyone should pledge that they would educate themselves more and more and at the same time educate their children and other near and dear ones as well.
  3. "i admit i feel like leaving the forum...explore new adventuress!!! " Why veerji, you are an asset to the forum. I am missing your inspiring articles for few days. Thats my reason to come to this forum. Please continue those articles, thoughts
  4. "Where will you find a Sikh forum where 2 Hindus joined long ago and eventually became Singhs? " agreed. but veerji, who says you were hindu before. Everybody is born SIKH. yeah, we get raised in certain ways that kind of forces us to think that we are hindu, muslim, sikh etc. etc. The day we come to our senses and make our own decision after knowing all the religions, we would definitely choose SIKHISM as thats the best out there. As Bhai Guriqbal singh ji says, sare dharam hee change hun, par ik gal different hai ke sare rab dee gul karde ne, but in SIKHISM, Guru granth sahib jee, rab naal gallan karaunde ne. To translate in English, He says that all religions are good. the difference lies in that all the other religions talk about GOD, but only its GUru Granth Sahib ji which makes you able to talk to GOD directly. Don't even need a middle man. So whats better, talking about GOD or talking to GOD. Definitely I would choose talking to GOD. Talking about GOD, I won't be able to completely understand GOD as HE is infinte, unattainable. I rather just have a dialogue with GOD. HOpe I am making sense.
  5. kathna kathi na ave Tot, kath kath kathi, koti kot kot deda de laide thuk pahe juga jugantar khahi khahe hukmi hukam chalaye rahu nanak vigsai veparvahu
  6. I love listening to Bhai Guriqbal Singh jee. Such a humble, simple personality. takes to the depths of Gurbani, of each word that he starts to do katha about. I listened to him from sikhsangeet.com and also from sikhee.com Gur Fateh
  7. Excellent piece of poetry/ call of many hearts. if we can focus on just one, thats all we need. The main thing is to feel the connection while being in some kind of discipline, be it any. God is here and God is there God, believe it or not, is everywhere Be it your heart or mine be it darkness or the sunshine Be in AKj's or the taksalies be it in 3HO's or nihang singh akalies Follow any maryada, as long as they are true don't believe in riturals, listen to just GURU Don't bow to dehdharis, focus on NAM iko hee tu vartada, Waheguru Satnam suno sabh dee te karo jo guru bole bhed bharam de parde mera satgur khole The main point is to, feel the connection remember, goal of this life is to get salvation Satnam Vaheguru, Satnam Vaheguru wahe wahe wahe, wahe mera ik Guru *********** Sorry, for mixup of english and Punajbi. I know its called khitchri. But heart's language doesn't have boundaries.
  8. I don't think you are ready for Amrit again. If you love doing eyebrows and other stuff you wrote and you think hanging around with wrong sangat is fun for you, I don't think you should really take amrit again yet. Give yourself sometime. Start doing nitnem slowly slowly. as Guru Nanak Dev ji said in Japuji sahib.... When the hands and the feet and the body are dirty, water can wash away the dirt. When the clothes are soiled and stained by urine, soap can wash them clean. But when the intellect is stained and polluted by sin, it can only be cleansed by the Love of the Name. so make a commitment to read your banis daily without interruption. And read above lines again and again whenever you think of having worldly fun. Eventually, babaji would wash your mut and get you out of duality. U are trying to put foot in 2 boats, one is definitely not going to take you anywhere, another one would. But u are not able to choose the right one and choose only one. So ask for help from babaji.
  9. Mind is devil's workshop as they say. Keep mind busy with nam simran, reciting banis, listening to keertan, kathas. And keep body fit by working, excercising. If u have nothing to do, atleast volunteer for some community services. Get involved with your local gurudwaras, alteast doing sewa on regular basis. Put a leash on your mind and body by committing to keeping them busy somehow. When we have a "I'll do it later" kind of attitude, thats when nothing gets done. And mind wanders free and thinks things which lead to self esteem, depression.
  10. If I'd known that every time I was hurt God brought me one step closer to him I would not have wasted time crying If I'd known that all those hard times meant to make me get better I would not have complained so much If I'd known that karaN karN samrath tu I would not have taken the credit for anything good or bad happening around me If I'd known that he is always there in good times and bad as well I would not have felt lonely ever If I'd known that taking one step towards him meant he took 1000 steps towards me I would have started journey long time ago
  11. Share the stories related to SIKH history. When there is a problem, suggest how Guru ji would have handled it. Be what you preach. Show humility, simplicity and mention quotes from Gurubani to make others aware how Gurbani answers for our problems.
  12. excellente!! Fabulous!! And was just discussing with friend over the lunch today that one will live much more happy life, if you are satisfied, content with what you have rather than wanting more. if u can quickly come up with solutions to the problem rather than finding out who did it and how they did it and how much damage has been done. Whats done is already done, what is the point of figuring out who what how. Another one is not to try to change others but make yourself flexible to tolerate. This one I have tough time with though at no. of situations.
  13. No doubt beautiful story. But even more beautiful, how you relate to us akirtghaN sikhs. Please keep them coming. They are beautiful stories to be learning from. May God bless you with more to share with cyber sangat.
  14. I was reading somewhere that why SINGHS are not afraid of death. Singhs know that death day is determined on the day we are born. So no matter, how much somebody tries to kill us or we try to kill ourselves, singhs know that they won't die until the account of their breaths is wiped out by God. So, even if you try to kill yourself by jumping from the tree, you won't die, because its not time for you to die yet. But if you die that way, would not that be the easiest death, the kinda I would want. But, what would scare me from jumping off the tree, would be what if I don't die but break my head, legs and end up being in hospital crippled and be burden on my near and dear ones. Call me brahmin or whatever, I wouldn't want to die suffering from pain and I won't want to be burden on my kids and others who would love me not to let go but wouldn't be able to see me suffering from pain either. pal pal marna, eh vee koi maut hoyi. Marna hove tan vas ik pal da hove and oh vee nam japdiyan hove. GOD bless me with that kind of death and oh vee rab de bhane vich hee hove, he controlled when we came in this world as humans, so lets just let him control when we leave as well.
  15. Wonderful. A mother of two can agree to many points. I am sure the mother of 3 or six will agree to each point. And my kids do hear this one a lot, that I have eyes on the back too, you know, when 8yr old says, mommy how do u know what I was doing?? and 3 pairs of hands, I guess God actually ended up making many pair of hands. you didn't mention many pairs of ears as well when all the kids and their dad talk at the same time and each begs for attention more than another. And a heart loving everybody equally, when each kid thinks s/he should be loved more than the other. And tough job playing fair, when each kid says that mommy its not fair, why the other one gets a toy but not him. That drives me nuts, when it comes to whom to give the toy when they both are fighting over one toy while forgetting aout 10 others sitting idle in the room. And believe me those tears are very helpful. They heal the wounds without any medicine. And tears could be felt even when u don't see mother in front of you. And mother could feel the pain even when u are thousands miles away from her. I am sure God had to give a lot of thought while making mother.
  16. And here is the asnwer I got so far as far as the time for soul entering the body is concerned A soul does bhajan bandgee in mother's womb. How could it do nam simran there if no soul was there. The soul has to be there to start with. In the first watch of the night, O my merchant friend, you were cast into the womb, by the Lord's Command. Upside-down, within the womb, you performed penance, O my merchant friend, and you prayed to your Lord and Master. You uttered prayers to your Lord and Master, while upside-down, and you meditated on Him with deep love and affection. copy pasted from srigranth.org SGGSji ang 74, bani Ist Guru ji. If u have some time on hand, read Ang 74 and onwards starting towards the end of the page, where new shabad starts. There is lot to learn. And I am so amazed how our gurus knew everything and wrote for us in the form of SHABAD. No wonder why Guru Gobind Singh ji gave the authority to Shabad Guru before he left his physical body. Shabad Guru talks, we just need to learn how to listen. And yes, I read the story narrated by Sant ISHER Singh ji. That must be true, if brahmgiyani is telling it. And that could be a special case that soul didn't enter until 11.5 months. 11.5 mons. is also unusal time, not having baby for long time and then suddenly having and then not have the capability to have anymore kids, thats all unusal. So consider that was special case. Guru is sarb kala smrath. So anything is possible. I believe all that 100%. To answer my own questions, I guess GOD decides when to let the soul enter. It could be the day of conception or anytime after that. (which leads me to believe that Abortion shouldn't be done at any stage, one should just use precautions if not desriring to have any more kids, even though God could overrule your precautions too, if he HE wants to). And the only way out to get merged with God, is to do nam simran. Rest of the good deeds and other 1000 things we preach we should practice being human oweing to society, to family, to ourlselves, to environment etc. etc. will be all granted to us automatically.

  18. I understand thats the goal. But it might not have happened to this particular soul as she didn't nam jap. I reminded her few weeks ago to do some nam jap. But typical excuses like we humans have. So I actually held her hand and read Japuji sahib to her (about 1.5hrs before her death, she was dying with cancer and pretty much determined that she was not going to survive that day), hoping that by doing that, God gives her one more chance as human to do nam jap and have her born back in some SIKHI oriented family. I hope it happens to my soul as you suggested the goal to merge with GOD.
  19. I read this somewhere. Here is the link http://www.gurbani.org/articles/webart25.htm I kind of don't really go with the argument of narak. I believe nark and swarg are here in this universe. Some say swarag is meditating on God's name and doing good deeds. Everything related to God, whether its good deeds or nam japna, is all heaven. And when we suffer in the absence of name of God, is nark. or when we are made to wander around in other 8.4million joons, thats narak.
  20. I recently experienced a death in my hands. Since then I have been continuosly thinking about what happens to soul after it leaves the body. As far as I have found out so far is that Yam take it to dharmraj where chitar and gupt open up the accounts of the soul. Dharam raj looks at the good and evil deeds of the person and based on that determines which next body its gonna occupy. e.g. Gurbani says ਗੂਜਰੀ ॥ At the very last moment, one who thinks of wealth, and dies in such thoughts, shall be reincarnated over and over again, in the form of serpents. O sister, do not forget the Name of the Lord of the Universe. At the very last moment, he who thinks of women, and dies in such thoughts, shall be reincarnated over and over again as a prostitute. At the very last moment, one who thinks of his children, and dies in such thoughts, shall be reincarnated over and over again as a pig. At the very last moment, one who thinks of mansions, and dies in such thoughts, shall be reincarnated over and over again as a goblin. At the very last moment, one who thinks of the Lord, and dies in such thoughts, says Trilochan, that man shall be liberated; the Lord shall abide in his heart. ||5||2|| copy pasted from Srigranth.org, SGGSji ang 526 The question that is still taunting me, is that this soul left the body at 3:35pm on wednesday, now when would it enter the new body. Is there a waiting period in between to dharmraj to decide. Is dharam raj really bound by time? Does soul have to wait in between until next body he decides on is ready? E.g. if God is going to give her body of human again, then another woman has to be pregnant. Now the question is when does soul enters into that baby's body, at conception?? on 120th day after conception or with first breath when baby is born?? I got lot going on in my mind. I wonder if someone has come across any answers based on SIKHISM beliefs. Please enlighten me
