  1. I think this is some great seva. Although I haven't watched most of the videos, but I'm planning on doing that in the the next few days. I was wondering if anyone knows where the Singh doing the lectures and talks has learned from? Where he gets his information from. If he learned from any Ustaad, or read books. What kind of research he's done. It's really inspiring to see. If anyone knows or if the basicsofsikhi account can comment it would be appreciated. Thanks!
  2. It is obviously not true. All Historical granths need to be tested with Gurbani. Gurbani clearly tells us eating meat is wrong.
  3. Here is an article about Charitropaakhian and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. If it is any good please share and create awareness about Guru Sahib Bani. http://puratanjatha.blogspot.ca/2012/11/charitropaakhian-and-sri-guru-granth.html
  4. The AKJ these days doesn't have a single view. I always look towards Puratan Jatha of Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh's time. Bhai Sahib has quoted from Sri Sarbloh Granth, and referenced that this Pangti is from Sri Sarbloh Granth, so I have no doubt that he believed in it. Other than that, Sarbloh Granth was never openly known unlike Sri Dasam Granth, so it is no wonder many people do not know about it or know what to believe when they hear about it.

  6. Surrey, BC, Canada (November 12, 2012)– Surrey, British Columbia is the city in North America with the largest Sikh population. Over one third of Surrey is Sikh and Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara is the central Gurdwara in the city. Elections for the Gurdwara are to be held on December 16 and the nominations for slates are due on November 16. In 2009, a Sikh youth slate unseated a so-called “Moderate Sikh” committee. The 2009 election was a watershed moment for the Sikh community in British Columbia. The moderate committee oversaw unprecedented decay and anti-Sikh activity at the Gurdwara. The Sikh youth committee led by Bhai Bikramjit Singh has overseen three years of dynamic growth for the Gurdwara with unprecedented accomplishments. The weekly Sunday night youth darbar, regular youth camps along with constant engagement with the youth are only part of the impressive legacy left by the outgoing committee. However, internal politics and a desire for power are threatening the progress at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara and may open the door for the “Moderate Sikh” group to return to power. Over the past two months, discussions have been had over the composition of the next committee. In order to set an example about not holding onto power, the current committee members have pledged to not seek re-election. A new committee is being chosen but personality clashes and egos threaten the unity of the Sikh youth movement. Certain nefarious figures in the community are plotting a division in the Sikh youth camp, or rather, the appearance of division, which may seal the return of the “Moderate Sikhs” to power. It is very possible that shortsightedness and a lack of leadership may lead to multiple committees running under the “Sikh Youth” banner, thus confusing the community and leading to a tragic setback for the Gurdwara. Sangat members are urging the involved parties to put aside their egos and personal differences and form a united slate that is focused on carrying on the impressive accomplishments of the current committee. http://www.sikh24.com/2012/11/internal-politics-threaten-progress-at-guru-nanak-sikh-gurdwara/#.UKF3LmHybSc

  8. I think its best to just call it Sri Dasam Granth Sahib and avoid any confusion. Some people just pick on small things like calling it Sri Dasam Guru Granth. Just avoid the unnecessary trouble and just call it Sri Dasam Granth. Of course I don't have any issues with calling it Dasam Guru Granth either.
  9. I would go ahead and do Parkaash how you feel is fine. Personally I don't give much attention to the "Akaal Takhat Marayda" as its not really Panthic Maryada it should be called SGPC Maryada. Doing Parkash of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib is a tradition that goes back hundreds of years. I personally would do it lower than SGGS and have a seperate Sukhasan Asthaan.
  10. Some more Dasam Bani Keertan done by AKJ Bhai Pritam Singh Anjaan: Bhai Jasbir Singh Chadigarh: Bhai Jagdev Singh France: Bhai Jagpal Singh Kanpur
  11. I really do like his Parchar. I think he has grown over the past few years. When you start doing parchar at a young age, ego comes easily. No matter whats happened in the past, he is doing good Parchar. His style of katha is good. He is one of the few good english parchariks we have. He is coming to BC so those that live in the lower mainland area should take advantage.
  12. I simply replied to the question about how no camp organizers call him to their camps. I personally have nothing against Sukha Singh, everyone makes mistakes. He is doing good parchar that is a good thing. When he comes to my city I will go to most of his programs.
  13. Perhaps because he has too many scandals in the past? I'd bet thats why.
  14. Puratan Jatha Singh from Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singhs time singing Charitars in Keertan. Shows you how Pro-Dasam the Puratan Jatha Singhs were unlike the missionary types these days! Also can view Giani Gurdev Singh singing same charitar at this years Dehli Smagam. Dhan Dhan Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee!
  15. Many times in his Katha he has spoken against meat. I don't have the exact kathas memorized. He has said many times that jhatka is wrong as well. He said doesn't matter how you cut the head off its still wrong and against Gurmat. Even Thakur Singh Patiala has recently said that Nihangs doing Jhatka is wrong.
  16. vaah vaaah Vaaaah! Dhan Dhan Sri Dasam Granth Sahib
  17. There is nothing wrong with mentioning meat in a discussion, this is not a debate about Meat. Prove that Krishan received Naam from Guru Nanak Dev Jee.
  18. We do not impose these rules on Gurbani. The rules are already within Bani. Sri Guru Arjan Dev Jee Mahraj when compiling Aad Beerh created a numbering system is this a limitation on Bani? It is a way for mistakes and Kachi Bani to be easily recognized.
  19. Students and Teachers have different opinions. Hari Singh Randhawa is very anti meat whereas you claim Older Taksali Singhs had no issue with it. Now who is picking and choosing?
  20. You are under the impression that Vikaarn limits Gurbani, It doesn't. Viakaarn is just there just like Siharis and Biharis are in Gurbani, Grammar too is part of Gurbani. Everyone uses grammar, ਭਗਤ means Bhagat i.e. Devotee while ਭਗਤਿ with a siharee means Bhagtee i.e. devotional worship. I learned this from a Sampardaic source. This is Grammar. Gurbani is not limited to grammar. Gurbani is limitless. Sorry it seems like the unicode is not working properly on this Forum. Your point of Vedas and Avtaars is a whole different story and I don't really want to get into useless debates as we know both of our opinions aren't going to change. I in no way can believe Krishan is God and is in Sach Khand, you on the other hand of no issue in believing that. I don't have the time or patience to discuss this. And Yes I have listened to Sant Gurbachan Singh's katha and no where has he said that Krishan is not God and is not in Sach Khand, in fact he has said that Krishan did not find God's end. If Sant Jagjit Singh believes that Krishan is in Sach Khand and you want to believe that then feel free. I have a lot of respect for Sant Jee he is a Bhagat and does a lot more Bhagtee then I can ever even dream of.

What Consciousness is saying is that only Amrit from Jatha is "real" Amrit because they give Naam Drirr. He pretty much says that if you don't take Amrit from Jatha then you are more likely to commit Kurehats. Consciousness Jee, Has no one who has taken Amrit from Jatha committed a Bujjer Kurehat?
  22. Who said I have anything to do with Jatha. I simply said that Jatha being a part of the Panth that you should stop embarrassing them.
  23. What needs to be said, should be said, don't you agree Mr.Doaba?
  24. Consciousness You are crazy, for sure. Although I don't disagree with a lot of what you say, the WAY you say it, is hilarious. Yes I too believe that the Faridkot Teekha has a lot of Sanatan Mat in it, that does not mean you just throw the entire teekha out. Take what you can from it, compare it contrast. This goes for all your posts, not just this one. From your posts it seems like you are a young and eager Jatha Singh. Or perhaps you are older but just immature or have some "issues". As a Singh I am telling you to please shut up and stop embarrassing the Jatha.
