  1. The people in power are the ones to whose thinking needs to be changed and they can go forward in making change. That's the only way incidents like this will reduce. I was watching Basics of Sikhi videos where they are doing parchaar in India to youth there. I think the more stress is put on people from abroad in supporting this will educate those in India, to realise where they are going wrong and how they treat what society calls lower castes there. Although they will not like it, because a it's embedded in their system, but if they start to feel a bit of shame their thinking may Change too.
  2. You are right Cisco Singh ji, she's not been in the media, so not many will know of her and the books she has written. Agree she should be honoured with something. Even the ordeal she went through did not stop her, very brave lady who Sikhs should be proud of.
  3. You are lucky penji to have done their sangat. Hanji, I never met them, but my heart got happy just reading about them.?
  4. Hanji I think they are the one I meant, but did they stay in Canada at some point for a while? I remember reading some lovely stories of them, if the same one. You are so lucky to have done their sangat. ?
  5. Hahahaha it's not last topic now JacfSing2 Paji ..... Penji you beat me to it, Pinky, rinky, lol. Love the name Harsimran Kaur ? Wow Canada wale Bhai Jeevan Singh ji?
  6. And jeeto and bittu and billa and pappu and thebo.
  7. Paji InderjitS this topic already exists, you probably missed it. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/77921-must-watch-interview-with-sikh-anthropologist-cynthia-mahmood/
  8. Lol @ chamkila Surjita ji have to checked his family background, the 4 adults etc, are you sure he isn't married or engaged elsewhere? You have to do your enquiries too, in order to see he is not just using you to get abroad. Sorry if this offends you, but you must take into consideration all this, as people tend to change also when they get abroad. For your sake, hope he is not taking that advantage and all goes well. Or the other thing is, his nature may just be like that, he may not like talking much, or like to express his love in public. But that's for you to decide whether is it what you want and something you can live with? It's very difficult to change somebody quickly if they have been set in their ways for so long.
  9. Good to you are back Paji. You give some good posts which I,can learn from. I've realised that there will be people who just don't want to change their views as they don't think they are negative themselves, so there is only so much one can help somebody with, that including myself where there maybe times I don't understand or agree with something. The thing is there is only so much advise one can give, but the onus lies on the person to take on board wise advise, but I think afterwards if I can't change somebody, then to change myself for my benefit, God will show others the way when they grace.
  10. Omg this is never ending Anybody for refreshments? Chaa, paani, soda? ️ ??????? phal fruit. Lol did anybody sleep last night? Je Ithe tik tik Kari gey saari raat? ?
  11. My opinion is : 1. Yes why not? You are also part of the sangat, so you too are receiving the fruits of Gurbani. 2. Like said in the posts above, one can do personal Ardas anytime. As one of the videos show some do on entering Darbar Sahib ji. If you can wait until the end then you can listen to the Ardas done by the Granthi which includes the whole sangat. If not, as people sometimes are not able to stay until the end or attend as much as time they can, then they do their own personal ardas if you are doing it silently so as not to disturb the sangat either.
  12. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh SamSingh ji Guruji are all knowing, they will know your ardas before you even do it, but it's good you have the respect, Satkar for them, good question. Take a look at previous posts of Ardas: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/58611-ardas/ http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/74785-what-to-say-in-ardaas/ Some do Ardas on entering Darbar Sahib ji, in front of Maharaj Ji. http://youtu.be/wmWS3SWd5jk
  13. Thanku Preet ji for your apology. Same here if I hurt your feelings or anybody else's. The thing is we are all sharing and learning about our beautiful faith and where somebody feels something doesn't read right, then they will say. So rather than we get into any arguments or insults, it's best to practice politeness and etiquette. I will also try to do that.

  15. Oh okji. Thanku jkvlondon penji. I'd still say both if we are talking about genders. But if in the spiritual sense, I thought souls didn't have a gender? I'm not sure how that works, does a soul have a gender?

  17. What can one do? Stay in Hukum and remember God, if God graces then they can change ones life, according to their karms which maybe reduced. Phases in life may change, there maybe good times, there maybe bad times, there maybe times when one cannot cope. It's never the same throughout, but one that does not change is Gods name. Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯ nām karṯā purakẖ nirbẖa▫o nirvair akāl mūraṯ ajūnī saibẖaʼn gur parsāḏ. 18. This doesn't make sense. Why would one make a time machine in order to separate the mother and father to get the answer to the question? It's a straightforward simple question with a simple answer. You would be the child of both. Time machine kitho ageyi? This is what is happening in the real world anyways, why put a time machine in the question. ? People get divorced or separated, find new partners have their children etc etc, it's already happening, no need for the time machine.
  19. Thankuji penji for that link, I was looking for an online store but was only coming across sikhi store which mainly does books for children. And I didn't know which others were reliable to buy from.
  20. Penji I only see the Gurmukhi version, is it available in English too?
  21. There seems to be 3 mysterious posts that don't make sense in Sikh sakhian section, in this topic, http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/71873-guru-arjan-dev-ji-tati-tavi-te-bethna/ Can you please sort it out. Thankuji.
