Definately the second one in my book too- by putting up ones like the first one, we are missing an opportunity to educate the youth. I remember being in the langar hall at Dixie Road Gurdwara in toronto once, where some kids were looking at pictures of shaheeds (I think there is one of Bhai Taru Singh), and then wanting to know what was happening, which gave me an opportunity to explain (in my English accent which they found rather comical!- funny how they don't see theirs is worse!) <_

Just on a side note, there is someone I know of who was telling someone I know the baba himself approached them enquiring about the latest mobile phones, and demanding that he be provided with the latest model- Canada are a little behind in the mobile market- the baba must have been amazed with these new toys! Anyway, althought this is a I heard from this guy who haerd from this guy story ( those which are usually untrue, I don't dout people will hesitate to believe me here that the man himself is obsessed with material things. Also, apparently the same source also indicated the cost of the nagar keertan was £150,000- with all thats happening ion Asia with the tsunami and things, could the 'revered' baba ji not have made a donation to a worthy cause instead of dancing about clapping his hands like an <banned word filter activated>, and paying so much £££ for the privelidge of doing so?

I think it was also Khalid Mahmood who attended the 1984 candlelight vigil in B'ham if I remember correctly- he seemed quite genuine, but then politicians always do. I take back some of my stance on the Liberals- vote Satnam Kaur Khalsa- I believe she is married to "the man in blue" who writes in the Sikh Times (UK)- I think this is someone who truly will do her best not only for the Sikh community, but all other constituents too.

No way to "vote for Lib Dems"- The Lib Dems are a pathetic excuse for a party with absolutely fluid commitments taht shift wherever neccesarry in a despertae attempt to gather votes. They have no policies, and yet have all policies if neccesarry- and IO thought Wahegurui was the ultimate paradox ( ie formless, yet resides in all, and is thus present in every form). The only thing I know about the LIB DEMS is that you can trust them EVEN less than the other parties. They are a joke- at the moment they are really trying hard to get the ethinic vote ( I.e. the Iraq stance to pick up Muslim votes), I say it would be absolutely foolish to fall for such nonsense.

Now, if only the media were to really take notice of this.

I think the GNP commitee should have taken a stand- they too were gainst what was happening- some even joined in in the Jaikaaras etc- If it is the case that they are against what was happening, why provide food and refreshments for the Nagar Keertan? GNP should have TOTALLY disassociated themselves from this rubbish. All of the Gurdwaras should take a stand, but who ever listens to the youth anyway? I think we should preparein advance for the next time this is scheduled to happen here- maybe if we could get enough protestors we could block the route (peacefully of course!), but obviously this would invilve some bad press, and we already know how the media are!

I think you might be right that there is nothing that can be done- there is no contact information anywhere for the channel- maybe they get too much of the stuff, so don't bother. What about the OFCOM people- should we bug them about this? We could call it a mis-representation of our faith, which has caused distress as it has hurt the basic tenets of our faith. No one ever gets anywhere with them anyway, but at the very least we should waste some of their precious time- They have an e-mail form, so it makes it easy for us. However, I'm not sure they cover SKY channels
