Most of the punjabi jatts became Sikh during Guru shaibians time. Most jatts in those times considered khataris as their teachers (see Robber Nobelman by Joyce pettigrew), so it was normal for them to be followers of Sikh Gurus. Baba Budha ji was one of the first Sikh, and he was a jatt. I don't disagree that some Jatts might have converted during Singh Sabha Movement, but that was probably due to the reason that many people in some villages were following some Hindu stuff as well as Sikhism, and it was much more advantageous to be Sikh during British times.

sopw do provide help in these cases. I have donated many times to them, but I still don't know the organization very well. However, my understanding is they target shaheed families and Sikh political prisoners.

Also, his people were responsible were turning around the goalk, so santji's name don't show up? This is the same thing that people told Sikhs before Maharajah Ranjit Singh came to power (i.e., Sikhs will never rule). At that time Sikhs were not only fighting Moghuls, but there was lot of fighting between Sikhs. However, Sikhs did come to power and produced a kingdom that was (and still is) model for rest of the world. Sikhs are one of the most intelligent community why you think they will not be able to rule. In fact, people keep on complaining about Sikh gurdwaras and how they are run; they are probably run better than most churches or temples (think about all the child abuse). Did you see the recent protest march taken out by Sikhs? Yes, we have our problems, but so does everybody else, and we are known to overcome most problems. Sikhs are one of the most prosperous community, but according to your convoluted thinking we cannot produce a prosperous country. Of course, we don’t expect anything from Sikhs with slave mentalities!

We know congress is our enemy, and most Sikhs are aware of this fact. However, Badal and his RSS friends are doing more damage to Sikhism. Badal govt called Prof. Bhuller a dreaded terrorist when congress govt was open to moving Prof. Bhuller to a Punjab jail. Who is first one to go to anti-Sikh deras, of course, Badal, unless he can get votes some where else.

It is amazing (and horrifying) what Sardar Jagtar Singh Hawara has gone through for the Chardi Kalan of Sikh panth. Just imagine the torture he has to suffer from the Indian police. Most of us cannot even imagine or fathom this, and he is smiling. His name will go down as one of the great Sikh warrior.

Only one thing killed Khalistani movement and that was the construction of electric fence between Punjab and Pakistan. After the construction of the electric fence Sikhs have no place to hide or get weapons. Otherwise, there is no way in hell that the Indian government would have won this war, in fact, before the fence Inian govt. was almost ready to give everyhting to Sikhs (remember PM Chandershekar and his words) I am not saying that Pakistanis were always our friends, but Sikhs were able to use that area for many purposes. My understanding is that the fence idea was given to India by Israel. Even Israelis are able to stop most Palestinians actions by constructing the fence.

Apparently gps is not understpanding the point of the above post. Lets keep on fighting with each other while Sikhism is being killed in punjab, and I am sure all these things are more important to you then asking for justice from India. I agree these things are not mutually exclusive ( ie., respecting dasam Granth and protecting Sikhism and asking for justice) however, we are spending all our time fighting about dasam Granth. Btw I have all my respect for dasam Granth, but I am wondering why this was not an issue 20 years ago, and now it seems like this is the only issue we have. One politician like Badal is doing more harm than all missionaries put together.

I guess Punjabi singers are afraid that they might lose fans if they sing about Sikh Martyrs, although I doubt that, Manak didn’t lose any fans when he sang about Sikhs during 1980s. Also, why most "parcharks/sants" will rather talk about moguls and afghans atrocities, but not about the atrocities that happened recently and are happening now. Of course, one of the reason is that the hindu govt will put them in a jail like they have done to Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind and Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu.
