The system for SGPC elections should be changed immediately. Political parties i.e. SAD, Congress should have no part in the elections. A SGPC candidate should be Amritdhari and keep basic Rehit ie Amritvela, no beadbi of kesh whether male or female, Kakars, abstain from intoxicants etc. They should have good knowledge in regards to Sikh History and Gurmat. They should be a good paathi ie be able to paath of larivaar saroop. Being an SGPC member is no game, it is a serious job. Therefore it requires serious Gursikhs who have a passion for Gurmat and parchar of Gurmat. I would rather have 5 good Gursikh SGPC members rather than a 100 average ones. The first step is to remove political parties from the process. Otherwise the SGPC members and Akal Takht Jathedars will remain a slaves to the political leaders.

I feel it is very important for Gurdwara's to write a letter or get a letter with signatures from all Jathebandis and deliver it directly to Akal Takht Jathedar. If anybody from Sikh Council or any other organisation is reading please take some action. Although I would personally like to see people like Saini and Gill arrested and taken to court, unfortunately this is not likely because Punjab is too corrupt. However as we have seen with bhai Balwant Singh ji Rajoana and Shaheed bhai Jaspal Singh ji, when the panth gets together and applies pressure we will get results. I am 100% sure that bhai Balwant Singh ji Rajoana would support the immediate removal of Sumedh Saini. I wonder if bhai sahib knows if Sumedh Saini was appointed DGP?

Most efforts have been made into arresting the police officers who murdered shaheed bhai Jaspal Singh ji which was good. However, we must look at the big picture also. We have to realise that the head of Punjab Police is an enemy of the Sikh Panth and he should never have been appointed in the first place. My humble benti to Akal Takht Jathedar is to seek the immediate remove of Sumedh Saini. The Sikh Panth should not allow a person with his past to be the Director General of Police. Also the Akal Takht Jathedar should call Parkash Singh Badal to explain why his party appointed such a person to such a high position. Also we should bring this to the attention of leaders, jathebandis and Gurdwara's worldwide should write letters to the Akal Takht. I think at a recent meeting in Sedgley St Gurdwara, Sumedh Saini was mentioned.

It is the Sikh Panth who should select jathedar. It would be unfair to give jathedari to one organisation the panth would never accept this. No one samparda/jathebandi can claim only they have right to Jathedar of Akal Takht. Every jathebandi/samparda shuould be able to put a candidate forward and then let the panth decide. If the candidate for Nihang's win that will be fine so long as they were voted in through a voting system involving the entire Sikh Panth. Currently, it is the SGPC that has a lot of influence in selection process which is wrong. Can anyone confirm this news?

bhai Ranjit Singh ji is doing good seva for the panth. His diwans are also attended by 1000s of sangat, therefore he can also raise awareness on panthic issues. We should not be criticizing bhai sahib. He has done great speeches in support of bhai Balwant Singh ji and also visited the family of shaheed bhai Jaspal singh ji. I support him because he has stayed clear of politics. He has assigned all the property at parmeshardwar under sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

The only disagreement I have is with bhai Ranjit Singh ji Dhadrianwale. They are not affiliated with any party and he has made this clear in his diwans. However Sant Samaj are obviously affiliated with Badal as well as the Akal Takht Jathedar. I hope they change their stance very soon. If the Akal Takht Jathedar would openly criticise Badal he would gain a lot of respect from the Sikh Panth. Was it not the duty of Badal to visit the family of Shaheed bhai Jaspal Singh ji?, arrest the guilty individuals, make a statements on the atrocities carried out by the police, provide financial support to the families of bhai Jaspal Singh ji and bhai Ranjit Singh ji, immediately free bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal, bhai Baljit Singh Bittu, bhai Simranjit Singh Mann and other innocent individuals who were arrested etc So many questions need to be asked. It is the duty of Sant Samaj and Akal Takht Jathedar to raise these issues in public to put pressure on the Akal Dal Sarkar, the whole Sikh Panth would be behind the Akal Takht Jathedar. The Sikh Panth is on its knees, so much pain has been endured over the past 3 decades, so many shaheeds, we are begging the Akal Takht Jathedar to lead us. I have hope that the Akal Takht Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh ji may have changed their stance towards Badal. I have read that Giani Gurbachan Singh ji told Badal that he would call a bandh in Gurdaspur if the demands of Shaheed bhai Jaspal Singh ji's family were not met. SinghBaller ji, I agree Sikhchannel as well as Sangat TV have done good work in reporting news in Punjab. However SikhChannel and Sangat TV alone are not enough. First you require internet access and you will have to tune in at 1-2 am to watch the discussion shows which is not suitable especially for Gursikhs. The point is that Badal Sarkar are hiding the truth. They have the capacity to report what is happening in Gurdaspur, police brutality etc but choose not to. There should be a lehar (movement) to free the media in Punjab. SGPC is controlled by Badal so therefore will not be willing to create such media that will report the truth. It is a sad situation that our highest Sikh community the SGPC is controlled by a politician. The only option is to fund any Sikh Jathebandi in Punjab that are willing to create a media outlet for Sikhs. They will also require legal support because Akal Dal Badal will try and counter any such attempt like they have with Sikh Channel. I am sure sangat from abroad such as UK, Canada and Italy can join forces with sangat in India to form a Sikh Channel. I bet if you phone relatives in Punjab they will not have much information on bhai Balwant Singh ji Rajoana or violence that occurred in Gurdaspur.

PTC News, which is a news outlet in Punjab, is not covering news in any detail regarding bhai Balwant Singh ji Rajoana or Shaheed bhai Jaspal Singh ji. Further to this, the channel airs gandh - bollywood videos just prior to kirtan from sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar. This channel is a disgrace, it could be used to inform the Punjab public about recent events but chooses not to. Just now, grandfather of shaheed bhai Jaspal Singh ji was complaining that PTC news channel was not covering the events that transpired in Gurdaspur. The Sikh Panth should get together to form a Sikh channel in Punjab that could air news regarding panthic issues as well as doing parchar of Gurmat. This is the farz (duty) of the SGPC, they have more than enough money to take up this project. I have heard that it was a wish of Sant Jarnail Singh ji Bhindranwale that the Sikh panth had a media outlet. Good news! Jathedar Gurbachan Singh ji has issued statement in regards to Shaheed bhai Jaspal Singh ji along with Harnam Singh Dhumma and Jasbir Singh Rode. Jathedar said that those guilty of the murder (of the shaheed Singh) should receive sakht (strong) punishment and pleaded to both Badals to take action. I just saw clip on Sikh Channel, if some has footage please post. Whatever our personal opinion in regards to Akal Takht Jathedar or Badals they are being put under pressure from the Sikh Panth to take action. In the future we must put pressure on our leaders to take action and get justice. Bhai Balwant Singh ji is creating a revolution in the Sikh Panth. May this flame keep burning.

I keep hearing that we should support the Akal Takht Jathedar and if we do not support them that makes us anti-panthic/decisive. The truth is that the whole panth is willing to support the Jathedar, the panth is willing to sacrifice their lives. However it is the silence of the Jathedar that is frustrating the panth. The Jathedar should be leading the Sikh Panth. A good leader is proactive not reactive. By now the Jathedar should have declared the young protestors Shaheed and visited and provided support to the familes. Also the Jathedar should issue a statement in regards to the immediate arrest of the guilty individuals. What hurts is that more than likely no action will be taken and in a few weeks time everybody will have forgotten about the Shaheed's and their families.

Can anyone confirm who is responsible for the deaths of the two shaheed Singh's? Was it the police or shiv sena? Cases should be filed immediately against the guilty. It is the responsibility of the Punjab government to arrest the guilty individuals as soon as possible. If Akali Dal does not make arrests then the Akal Takht should issue another hukam/adesh to Akali Dal government to make the arrests. This must be a very difficult period for the family of these 2 victims. The Sikh Panth needs strong leadership in these difficult times.

The Punjab Police seem to be our worst enemies. So far, all morchas/protests have been peaceful, what was the need to employ so much much police and paramilitary? By employing so much police the Akali Dal sarkar have made the situation in Punjab much worse. They have only heightened tensions by employing police in large numbers. Also the congress are involved by sending paramilitary forces into Punjab. Who can we look to for help? Mass protests in Punjab would be great. We need to write letters to Akal Takht and other panthic leaders. If the general Punjab popluation were informed they could close down shops, business to put pressure on Badal sarkar. I feel now is a good time for protests, marches etc since Sikhs worldwide have been woken up by Babber Sher bhai Balwant Singh ji Rajoana. I worry that soon the appointment of this dusht will be forgotten and then the Sikh Panth will pay in the future. The information on Saini says that he has killed Sikhs before and therefore he has the capacity to kill again. Remember he has been appointed the Director of Police so he has more power than before to commit crimes against Sikhs. Is there any excuse for Badal hiring this person? What is the thinking behind the government of Punjab in hiring a person with the track record of Sumedh Saini?

Now is the time to also take action against the promotion of Sumedh Saini (alleged to have killed and tortured innocent Sikhs) to the Director General of Police in Punjab by our so called "panthic sarkar"- Akali Dal Badal. I am very suprised by the lack of post in regards to the appointment of this person by the re-elected "Sikh" party of Panjab the Akali Dal led by Parkash Singh Badal. Just doing quick research: A 1982-batch IPS officer, Sumedh Singh Saini is the youngest DGP at 54 in the country and may be longest serving officer at the post after super cop K P S Gill. Saini, who has figured in several controversies and superseded four officers, is due to retire on June 30, 2018. He had won the nation’s highest gallantry award in 1987 while leading operations against Khalistani insurgents. After 14 years, a city court in New Delhi finally recorded 86-year old Amar Kaur's testimony in the case about the disappearances of her son, son-in-law, and their driver. Charges in this case were framed on December 6th, 2006. Amar Kaur alleges that police officer Sumedh Singh Saini, then Senior Superintendent of the police, and three other police officers (Sukh Mohinder Singh Sandhu, Paramjit Singh and Balbir Chand Tiwari) were responsible for the disappearances of her son, Vinod Kumar, his brother-in-law, and their driver. After conducting a preliminary inquiry on the high court’s directions, the premier investigating agency has stated in the FIR that Multani was illegally detained before being tortured. He was later shown to have escaped from police custody. Balwant Singh Bhullar was also tortured, but to the extent that he lost his mental balance, the FIR asserted. I find a Gurmukhi dastar easy to tie and comfortable to wear. Unfortunately the Gurmukhi dastar has been phased out with the nok wali dastar. Sant Kartar Singh ji, Sant Bishan Singh ji, bhai Randhir Singh ji, bhai Vir Singh ji and many other great Gurmukhs used to wear Gurmukhi dastar. With Gurmukhi dastar there is no pooni or folding, instead you just collect the Pagh together with the hands "chun ke". Not "Pappi9" ji, There are 38 pauris and 2 sloks in sri Jap ji sahib. sri Jap ji sahib starts from the word "Jap" this is the sirlekh (heading) of the bani, this word is a noun. Then the first slok: "Aad Sach.........Nanak, hosi bhi sach" - the number 1 comes here to indicate the end of the 1st slok. Then the first pauri begins: "sochai soch.......................Nanak, likhia naal" - the number 1 comes her to indicate the end of the 1st pauri. Then you have another 37 pauris with the final pauri being: "jat pahara..............Nanak, nadri nihal" - the number 38 indicating the end of the 38th pauri. Then the 2nd slok of sri Jap ji sahib: "Slok: pavan Guru............chuti naal" Nobody can fully comprehend Gurbani. There may be mistakes in what I have written above. AkhandEurope ji, I agree with the you in regards to Sachkhand and writings of bhai sahib bhai Randhir Singh ji on subject of SachKhand. However I do not agree with comments such as, "Sant Jagjit Singh is very far from Gurmat" and I also disagree with you telling bhai N30 Singh ji which Gursikh he should follow. We can present our though on this subject then it is up to the person if they agree/disagree we cannot force our views on anyone. It is good to have an opinion on certain subject but we must also make sure that we present our views in a respectable manner and try and not offend particular person or jathebandi/samprada.
