Veerji I agree with you that Bhagat Singh is not a great Sikh Role Model but read Jail Chitian by Bhai Randhir Singh Ji and you will understand him better. He died as a Sikh because he started doing a lot of paath before fansi. He did get that kirpa towards the end. Singhs that did lotta kurbania for Indian Independence arent known by most indian people because they were in sikhi saroop and not appreciated as much as bhagat singh... even bhagat singh agreed with that before he was hung. i am a "jatt" sikhni too and i was not taught about sikhi i am going to be honest when i was in middle school i was sooooo proud to be jatt NOT because my parents taught me about this caste thing but because i would hear punjabi songs talk about how jatts drink a lot and jatts party jatts dance... and so on.. i was so proud of "punjabi jatt culture" but all this hankaar went away when sikhi became more important to me. When i learned about the Singhs in the 80s. It doesnt matter if they were mostly jatt because they didnt take pride in it i am sure they were united they had love for sikhi and their fellow sikhs and thats why they were able to give kurbania. I lost hankaar in being jatt when i learned more about sikhi and saw amazing gursikhs that are nonjatts. Some of them used their last name I use my last name but that doesnt mean they had pride in it. the problem is the media.. Change the culture of Punjab first by culture of punjab i mean what they made punjabi culture into. its not the same anymore. i remember everytime someone said jatt my grandma would get really mad and say NO!! say Jimmidar Because jimmidar is more of a occupation than a caste or clan... Most jatts dont hate other caste they take pride in their caste because of punjabi media. Past week we were driving to smagam and we took this girl from here with us and she was like ..... salle jatt they are so stupid... three of us in the car were jatt we didnt say anything we just laughed and then she was like omg you guys are not jatt are you? we were like yeh we are but its okay dont feel bad i know where you are coming from... then the next minute she goes but then she went on and said jatts are okay but bhappe are so annoying and offended our khatri friend.. So the point of me telling this story is that Media is at fault more than anything. We had people say bad stuff about jatts to us because they didnt know we were jatt... because they said that "jatts are never into sikhi because they cut their hair" Obviously thats not true Vaheguroojee doesnt discriminate who he decides to do kirpa upon Jatts cut their kesh because they arent taught about Sikhi Jatts drink because they are taught to do that. Veerji most of my relatives drink too.. people from my family lie on the roads after they are drunk they party to show off but we also had shaheeds in our family and santlike people (my grandfather) who did paath all day.. If you really want to change the whole caste culture first try to bring change to punjabi songs culture there.. that way you can change how youngsters think how they see things.. you can bring chardikala back to the panth by trying to change the condition of punjab today. We need to do things to teach people about Sikhi.. If you feel so strongly about it then do something about it. We all just talk discuss argue and tell each other that we disagree.. this is our opinion that is our opinion but we never UNITE we never try to make a change.. our panth lost that ekta we had...we need to remember words of our guru..... guru ji said... Chela Ram came here many times but he was told not to come after this incident. he used to stay at sangats house. He did good katha and keertan but his topi pisses people off because it looks like a paper boat..it just looks weird. And he treats amrit Kirtan, Gutka Sahibs and Guru Granth Sahib Jis Saroop like they are books... We all noticed these things and talked about how its uncomfortable when he puts the gutka sahibs on the floor and flips through pages like he is looking through some kind of book but anyways.. people really need to talk to this guy about all the beadbi he has done.

I know people are going to be really really mad at me because of what i am about to say but understand that i am just asking a question so please dont be mad at me and kick me out of this forum. We have a lot of Sindhi people here I went there for pooja when i was moni. i just went there for food and plus they gave $5 to all the kids that came and i was excited because that meant that i could get chocolate chip cookies from school the next day. Anyways, they had murtian and guru jis saroop in the same room. people werent doing matha tek and going straight to murtian . we did matha tek there, it was awkward for a little bit but then i didnt care. But now that i think about it it was wrong for people to walk by guru ji and not do matha tek. I feel that it was out of love that they kept guru jis saroop but having murtian is anti gurmat but atleast they are doing something good by doing paath and learning gurmat. Plus we have been to Sikh families house and they had akhand path sahib. My friend kept on saying that she felt that something wasn't right she felt really uncomfortable when she opened the closet it was full of murtian and Hindu paath that is probably part of their nitnem.. The fact that my friend felt weird being there before she even knew about murtian indicates that it is wrong to keep them in the same room. This problem is not just in Sindhi people but in our community too regardless of caste or whatever region malwa duaba.. we tend to ignore things like this by saying.. o all people of "that caste" do that.. all people of "maja" do that.. they are "backwards".. or its their "tradition". But we must remember that They aren't doing more paap than we are. We look at beadbi being done and we ignore it. because we feel that it isnt our resposibility if its not our responsibility than whose responsibility is it?? We need to educate people about Sikhi because I think 95% Sikhs don't know what sikhi is about. We dont understand rehitmarayda. I have even met Sikhs that say that the rehitmaraya is wrong therefore they arent gona take amrit.. WE ALL NEED TO WAKE UP! if we care about sikhi even a bit then writing on forums isnt going to help as it will just lead to arguments and disagreements.. if you really want to do something Unite with other Sikhs stop hating on each other Go to Punjab Educate our community first before we start educating others.. If our community doesnt understand what Rehitmarayada is about then how can we expect others to respect it..!!!! Seeing murtian and Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Parkash in the same room didn't bother me then but it is WRONG!!! but again we must remember that we need to Educate people instead of alienating them so every naujavaan need to take that responsibility and make a difference.

This is sad and disgusting!! Why can't people be vegetarian for one day in a week. if they cant live without meat why cant they make it at their own place why do beadbi of gurudwaras? this is upsetting.

i was reading the comments lota people wrote harimandir sahibs got nothing to do with islam/muslims.. We mustn't forget that foundation stone was put by mian mir who was a sufi sant... sikhi isnt about having enemies.. we need to aware more people of what sikhi is but before we do that we need to aware our own community sikhs didnt fight muslims/islam we fought injustice and tyranny not any religion.

i agree with gurbar akal veerji. you could also use that nice paper that they use for books the one thats like half cotton or something.. i tried to learn calligraphy i write decent but have to be very careful when writing gurbani because slightest bit of distraction can make us mess up.. i would love to make my own gutka sahib too.. you could to sanskar of the pages you mess up on.. this is exciting!! :D you should make each paper look really nice..!! with beautiful boundaries.. ahhahaa..!! :D master niranjan singh ji is amazing at calligraphy he wrote saroop of guru ji by hand..!! you should talk to him if you are interested in this seva.. !

i heard that singhs that were carrying out a peaceful rally in the remembrance of shaheed sukhdev singh sukha and shaheed harjinder singh ji jinda amritsar were arrested! it was on alpha punjabi news! its sad that we cant even remember our shaheeds, living in that country!

yes i agree with southall youth instead of doing that we should tackle major problems such as drug problem i punjab.. and like southall youth said .. we should help families of the shaheeds!! having screens is a good ideaif they are installed in other local gurudwaras!
