  1. I never sed i attended the program just sed that it was a great program considering the sant it is honouring. I am just really <Edited> off at the fact the Gurmeet Singh is still doing katha around the UK (Repreisneting Taksal) after being caught doing the most disgusting kureht ever? Why has Taksal UK allowed this to contunie? To date i have never in my life felt more disgraced to be a sikh until i heard about him. It makes me feel sick. This is what our Sikh organizatioons have come to?
  2. I remember about 2 years ago the DDT singhs did the Bhog like the Nihang Dals do it i.e. Narial chatanga and pooran paaths. Will they be doing same this year? Also will there be transport organised?
  3. Long kacheras have always been historically worn, as you can see of puraaton paintings. Long kacheras provided modesty and also made it more comfortable when riding horses. The only reason why we only see nihangs with long kacheras in the modern era is because they are the only sikhs left that still use horses.
  4. gurbaksh.jpg (55.7K) Akali Baba Deep Singh was the first jathedaar of Misl Shaheedan Tarna Dal, he was very close to Guru Gobind Singh Ji and was well versed in Gurbani, so much that Guru Gobind Singh Ji decided to start a school (Taksal) to teach the recitation of Gurbani he requested that Akali Baba Deep Singh also become the first jathedaar of the newly made Taksaal. Akali Baba Deep Singh then started off the lineage of teaching Gurbani Santhiyaa to the students of the new Taksaal. Akali Baba Deep Singh ji gave shaheedi (head in hand) re-capturing Harimandir sahib and then the jathedaari of Misl Shaheedan Tarna Dal was passed to Akali Baba Gurbaksh Singh, because Akali Baba Gurbaksh Singh was the leader of the Tarna Dal he then also became the jathedaar of the Taksaal.

  6. "One day Brahm Giani Baba Thakur Singh Ji wanted to go and see Brahm Giani Baba Kirtan Singh and organised his jatha to go along with him, one of the singhs in the jatha said, whi do you want to go and see the Nihang Singhs, they are dirty, Brahm Giani Baba Thakur Singh Ji replied, we are also Nihang Singhs...Who was Baba Deep Singh!" 5 Shaster De Rahat

So what do say about Bhai Nand Lal Jis bani "Panj Shastar Parvaan" im sure that was written at time of Guru Gobind SIngh ji i.e. his main kavi Bhai Nand Lal. I was pointed out something very interesting by a nihang singh from birmingham, if you look at a set of kesh panj shastar when they are made together i.e. with chain or torra wire the complete 5 shastar can act like a kamandki. A flange style mace.
  8. VJKKVJKF This has been bugging me for some time, my good friends father passed away same time as a guru ji's gurpurab. Should they do a barsi/program/remeberance program for him on the same day as a gurpurab? I have seen the people do barsi of Sant giani takhur singh on same day as gurpurab, does mean its ok to do so, or is it overshadowing the gurpurab?

    5 Kakar

Sikhism has a lot to do with common sense, the kachera is to keep modesty, to keep your dignity. Because we live in western world we are use to idea of bathing undressed but in india for hundreds of years people are use to bathing while being covered up as not everyone had baths or showers on their homes.
  10. I love the above quote "serious gupt" LOL I think giani rann singh is more of a giani than all the UK giani's.. i think giani rann singh is more of a sant than all the UK sant's i think giani rann singh is more of a vidvaan than allthe UK vidvaan's lol Sorry friend absolutely loved your quote I do think he is a nice giani not sure why people dont book him to do programs VJKKVJKF
  11. WARNING - These dates are incorrect especially those relating to Gurpurabs etc as they are not folllowing the original calander used at the time of these events, the times of our Guru sahibs. Because of this calander sikhs are mistakenly celebrating or commemorating totally incorrect dates. Can anyone on this board post a calander based on Bikrami system (Calander used by our Guru sahibs and in ancient times)
  12. Thanks for this information GPS i would be really kicking myself if i had donated to them. Mahakal somebody else suggested GurbaniAnywhere to me i have recently started to use their Windows mobile version and it is amazing. I think i may donate to them as they are really producing high quality software and i feel the money is going to good use as you can see the fruits of their labour. Thanks for everyones response.
  13. I wanted some advice from sangat i was thinking of giving my dasvandh to sikhnet but some one just put a little doubt in my mind regarding what they are actually doing with such a large sum of money. Personally i do think its a lot to ask for considering they are just providing an online portal / service. Has anyone here going to give dasvandh to some seva project if so please tell me other honest projects that are helping the sikh community or the khalsa panth. VJKKVJKF
  14. Giani Mehtab Singh is coming i think so that is my preferble choice
  15. Here is my understanding of the entire situation.... The most shaheedian have been done by the Khalsa, who dont belong to any caste. Before 1984 90% of all shaheedian were done by the khalsa army. In order to become a true khalsa warrior you must forget what you know i.e. farming to understand warfare, if we had jats (term used as reference to a farmer) stratgising warfare we wouldnt be here right now. Yes if i wanted to grow corn or wheat i would most defitantley contact a farmer...do you see where i am going with this...i am not trying to be disrespectful...far from it. I am just trying to making a point that once you take Khandeh da Amrit your entire profession, lineage, background and society changes. If not then we can never fight as one unit on the battlefield. Wise up... The above is just my knowledge, you dont have to agree with it..
  16. Leather, Hide products have been used for hundreds of years in india and as part of ancient sikh way of life. For example hide water carriers to carry water to drink or hide shields that many ancient sikh warriors used in battle. Items such as these have always been used in every day life. Some might dissagree...ok....if we were to ban or stop the wearing or using of leather/hide items then 90% of traditional sikh musical culture (Gurmat Sangeet) would have to die. Yes...dilruba, taus tabla are just a few that are made using animal hide......the famous ranjeet nagara also made of animal hide....the chaur sahib made from animal hair... Just something to think about
