  1. PRESS RELEASE! The best Christmas present ever for Inspector Rik Basra. A seriously ill police officer has received one of the best Christmas presents ever. ... Inspector Rik Basra has, for many months, been battling against acute myeloid leukaemia. His long term hope as been to identify a bone marrow donor. Today, Rik has received the news he has been longing to hear - that a matching bone marrow donor has been found. Rik is now in hospital being prepared for the bone marrow transplant, which is hoped will take place in the next few days. Rik's wife, Kas Basra said: "We cannot believe this miracle. We have all prayed and worked so hard for this moment and we can't believe it is now happening. Although Rik still has to undergo the transplant and has a long recovery ahead of him, he now has a chance of life and that is fantastic. This is the greatest Christmas present we could have ever wished for." Over the past few months, many of Rik's family, friends and colleagues have undertaken a number of donor giving and awareness raising events to support Rik and many other people suffering from blood cancers. More than 750 people attended two donor sessions held at Leicester's Diwali celebrations and at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara on East Park Road. Many more people have registered on line following the awareness raising campaign. Kas added: "I would like to personally thank everyone, including the charity Anthony Nolan, for the overwhelming support we have received throughout this anxious time. The biggest thanks must go to the consultants, doctors and nurses at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, who have and continue to care for Rik. Without their support, none of this would have been possible."

  6. Harinder Singh is apparently an inspirational speaker when it comes to lectures about 1984. His level of detail and reference to actual facts is second to none. This talk is only on 1984, nothing more and nothing less. The organiser has told me that the speaker has been explicitly briefed on this point. No Anti-dasam Granth, anti-ardas, anti jaap sahib etc references are allowed at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara Leicester nor will they be entertained!
  7. Take a look at Lakha Singh's profile pic and then compare that to Gurbar Akaal's pic. See how the pri@# has defamed the Khanda.

  9. Snatan Sikhs, theres no such thing. The more acurate terminology is long haired Hindus! Read this disgusting article by the biggest snatan twt@t out, where he claims that Guru Tegh Bahadur gave his life, but the lord protected his tilak and Janeu which still remained on his body (paragraph 14 starting "Being born in respectable Ksatriya families all the gurus were……"). These guys are completely deluded. http://www.sikhsangat.com/Index.php?/topic/62865-disturbing-article-linking-sikhism-to-hinduism/page__hl__%2Brishi+%2Bhanda__fromsearch__1
  10. Guru Nanak made his position very clear on the Hindu religion, just read Gurbani from SGGS such as Sidh Gohst etc...So whether Guru Nanak was prophecised or not is irrelevant for his Sikhs. The question in regards to the authenticity of the source also arises. SGGS was bani from the gurus and bhagats and there is ample proof of this. Therefore the SGGS being the Bani of the gurus is an authentic and verified source. On the other hand you have the bible which was written 100 years after Jesus died, which is simply secondary evidence. Along with the Vedas etc which were written thousands of years ago. There is no way to verify their authenticity in any way shape or form. They could have been edited and re edited many times over in that period.

  14. The following Sikh Federation letter was sent to all 72 UK MEPs, through the federations 12 'regional' hubs across the UK (this allows for all MEPs to be reached). The letter was also made available to contacts in France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Netherlands etc. So MEPs in other countries were also contacted. Many MEP’s are expected to raise this issue with the Belgian PM etc…. It is still not too late for the general sangat to strengthen this campaign by contacting their own MEPs, by following the below instructions (will take no more than a minute):- Select link http://www.writetothem.com/ Enter your postcode. Select ‘Write to all your MEPs’ Populate mandatory fields and paste in the letter below. Populate your name & address at the end of the letter. 5th EUROINDIA SUMMIT - ACTIONS FOR UK MEPs WITH RESPECT TO INDIAN MINISTER, KAMAL NATH & PROFESSOR DAVINDERPAL SINGH BHULLAR Kamal Nath, India’s Minister for Urban Development is scheduled to attend and address the 5th EuroIndia Summit on 13 and 14 October 2011 in Leuven, Belgium. It is a matter of official record {Justice Nanavati Commission Report-2005} that Kamal Nath was in control of the mob that attacked Sri Rakab Ganj Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship), opposite the Indian Parliament, in November 1984. Kamal Nath admits being present at the Gurdwara at the time of attack. {Under Oath Statement of Kamal Nath to Justice Nanavati Commission}. Kamal Nath led and controlled the mob assault on the Gurdwara where hundreds of Sikhs had taken refuge. After a siege that lasted a day, parts of the Gurdwara complex were put on fire and Sikhs were burned alive by the mob. Sikhs have approached Belgium Prime Minister, Yves Leterme, apprising him of Kamal Nath’s role in the massacre of Sikhs in November 1984 and urged that he be banned from entry into Belgium. Belgium’s law provides for “extra territorial jurisdiction” to criminally prosecute individuals for crimes against humanity and genocide committed outside Belgium. Belgium law of extra territorial jurisdiction does not provide immunity to any head of the states or dignitaries. We urge you to raise this matter with the Belgium authorities to find out if Kamal Nath is to be denied entry to Belgium or if he will be arrested, charged and prosecuted while he is in Belgium. As a senior Indian politician he has not been charged in a court of law in India, as he says, but his "involvement" in the 1984 cases is also a matter recorded by Manoj Mitta and Harvinder Singh Phoolka in their book - When A Tree Shook Delhi. Extracts from the chapter titled: A Tale of Two Gurdwaras is as follows: [Page 49] ...Rakab Ganj Gurudwara, despite being across the street from Parliament House, was subjected to a prolonged siege in which its periphery was damaged, and two Sikhs were roasted alive. The attack on Rakab Ganj Gurudwara was also remarkable for the fact that it was probably the first, and so far, the only instance in the history of mass violence in India, where a political leader admitted to being on the spot. And such an instance ironically occurred in the immediate vicinity of India's parliament. The leader in question was Kamal Nath, who was at the time of the 1984 carnage, an up and coming Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh, and is now a cabinet minister holding a key economic portfolio in the Manmohan Singh government. In a siege that lasted over five hours, Kamal Nath is said to have been there for over two hours. Given the strategic location of Rakab Ganj Gurudwara, Kamal Nath's presence there was confirmed by two of the senior-most officers, Commissioner Subhash Tandan, and Additional Commissioner Guatam Kaul, as also by an independent source, The Indian Express reporter, Sanjay Suri. This is more than could be said about any of the Congress MPs from Delhi, whether HKL Bhagat, Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar or Dharam Dass Shastri, as the charge of their complicity was based entirely on the testimony of victims... Not surprisingly the authorities in India have refused to take any action against one of their own Ministers. However, Sikhs living abroad, in the UK, mainland Europe, Canada, USA etc. have in recent years organised protests against him. In the UK in May 2010 and September 2010 he was forced to pull out of events in London where he was to speak. In the USA, a United States Federal Court has issued a summons to Kamal Nath in a Tort Claim case “Sikhs for Justice et al., v. Kamal Nath (10-cv-2940)(S.D.N.Y.) based on the overwhelming evidence of Nath’s involvement in massacre of Sikhs in 1984. In the context of the 5th EuroIndia Summit, the Sikh community would also like to remind you of the 7 July 2011 resolution that was passed and adopted in the European Parliament in Strasbourg in support of Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar and opposing the death penalty in India. The resolution that was passed expressed ‘grave concern’ at the decision on the death penalty by the Government of India and referred to this ‘bucking the worldwide trend towards the abolition of capital punishment’. The Parliament instructed the President to forward the resolution to the President, Government and Parliament of India, India's Minister for Law and Justice, India's Home Minister, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Commission, and the governments and parliaments of the Member States. In terms of economic ties with the EU the resolution specifically referred to the 1994 Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and India that made respect for human rights an essential element of the Agreement. The text of the resolution also makes reference to United Nations General Assembly Resolutions and EU Guidelines on the Death Penalty and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. In passing the resolution the European Parliament questioned India’s ability to remain on the 47-nation UN Human Rights Council as India before being elected in May 2011 pledged to uphold the highest standards in terms of promoting and protecting human rights. We urge you to remind the President of the European Commission and Baroness Catherine Ashton of the European Parliament resolution in July 2011 and for them to secure a commitment at the 5th EuroIndia Summit from the India authorities that the threat of the death penalty against Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar will be removed with immediate effect. If India does not agree to this we expect the European Commission to recognise India will be in breach of the 1994 Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and India that made respect for human rights an essential element of the Agreement and for further action to be taken against India. Yours sincerely
