Maharaja Rhunjeet Singh Ji had many Maharani/Rani. He had issue with many of these Rani. Duleep Singh was one of his sons although the British spun tales about him not being the real father of many of his successor. Maharaja / Raja is not a Sikh title. It is generic title used by Hindu and Sikh rulers so it does not matter if he "shaved his stuff off, married a white woman and converted to christianity". Nihang are world reknown for being very able horsemen. I never said they HAVE to ride a horse but would it not be better to get full training so the UK nihang were able to ride and fight on horseback as well as doing their fancy kirpan displays on the ground. Caretakers endanger priceless Sikh relics Varinder Walia Tribune News Service Amritsar, April 29 The over-enthusiasm of caretakers has endangered many relics of Sikh history even as the ‘kharavan’ (traditional wooden shoes) and ‘pangura’ (cradle ) belonging to the Sikh Gurus have been covered with gold . The National Institute of Punjab Studies(NIPS) , established to promote cultural heritage of Punjab, has endeavoured to document the endangered relics to create awareness among the heritage-lovers and common man . Mr Mohinder Singh of NIPS and Bhai Vir Singh Sadan, Amritsar, visited Pakistan and far-flung areas, including Lahore, England , Takht Patna Sahib and Hazoor Sahib, to procure rare pictures, pertaining to Sikhism. The NIPS has already brought out eight illustrated books in two years with photographs of rare relics of the Sikh Gurus, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and other historical personalities collected from different repositories in India, Pakistan and the United Kingdom. Talking to TNS here yesterday, Mr Mohinder Singh said the documentary would be shown to the Prime Minister and heritage-lovers. He said Takht Patna Sahib had the richest collection of Guru Granth Sahib birs and hukamnamas but not much attention had been paid to their conservation. A casual visitor is shocked to see the historic ‘pangura’ of Gobind Rai which has lost its original shape. Its jute strings have been replaced by plastic strips while four pegs have been covered with gold. Thus, the facelift puts visitors in doubt whether Guru Gobind Singh actually used it during his childhood. At the Takht we find the robe of Gobind Rai which has been framed in a box. He said the caretakers had compromised with the value of the relics. Similarly, the golden ‘kharavan’ (the traditional wooden shoes) of Guru Teg Bahadur have been covered with gold without being treated by conservation experts. Mr Mohinder Singh said his NGO would attempt to engage heritage experts to preserve the relics in their original design. The robe of the sixth Guru with the Sanga family of Drolli Bhai Ki is kept in a plastic poly bag. It needs to be carefully treated by INTACH or some other professional agency. The team found that the robes of Guru Gobind Singh and clothes of Mata Sahib Kaur with the family of Bhai Dhalla, are kept in poly bags and are being affected by moisture created by use of a cooler in the display room. The robe of Guru Nanak, perhaps the only available relic of the founder of Sikh faith with the Bedi family in Dera Baba Nanak kept in a showcase, is getting affected by moisture. He further said that a rare Guru Granth Sahib bir and weapons of the sixth and ninth Gurus with the Bagrian family need urgent conservation. Mr Mohinder Singh claims that the only relics which have been professionally conserved and taken care of are relics of Guru Gobind Singh in the collection of Capt Amarinder Singh in the New Moti Bagh Palace, Patiala. Martial arts isnt something which can be picked up over a video and mastered in 2 hours, set techniques are easy to follow and in your own home infront of a TV you may feel like a Grand Master, however when it comes to real fighting there are much more varialbles involved depending on how skilled your opponent is. I would suggest that you dont comment on what Nihang Niddar Singh teaches unless you have come to the akhara and witnessed it yourself, what you see on the videos on the website is nothing compared to what the true art is. What a fantastic film. It shows Punjab Police brutality and how they killed people in fake encounters. It shows Divya Dutta being told by police to urinate on her brothers face (Gurdas Mann), again such things happened. It shows how the police used the troubles to make a lot of money by registering false cases on people. It shows how people were caught in the middle when militants came to their homes and then the police would come and make life a misery for those who gave roti etc to militants. It shows bad charachters who joined the militants (eg when the militants go to Gurdas Mann's house and one of the militants eyes up Divya Dutta) he is slapped by another militant after passing a remark. It shows militants planting bombs which some did do (please dont tell me it was all down to GOI agents as the Panthic Committees were happy issuing statements claiming such attacks when they could have issued denials). Overall a great film and I would reccomend you all watch it.

People take wheel chairs around sarovar and leave wheel chairs at Darshani Deori (right in front of the Akal Takht) and get to the Darbar Sahib the best they can. As I have mentioned before I know people who are severely disabled and cannot stand so walking is out the question but they do not make an issue out of this and do matha teyk without a wheel chair etc. They are helped by their family members to do matha teyk and then sit for a while in the Darbar hall before going to the langar hall where they can sit in their wheel chairs. Just the other day I saw an aged women who walks with a special diasability aids made for her legs (they strap on to her legs). She sat on a chair took them off and went to do matha teyk as best she could. Why is it that people cannot follow the example set by such people instead of wanting to take wheelchairs etc into the Darbar hall.

I got copies of Snake in the Eagles Shadow and Drunken Master (both starring Jackie Chan) and just followed how he learns. You should be able to master complex kung fu in 2 hours using this method. Seriously try wrestling and boxing. Guru Hargobind Sahib promoted wrestling. This shin kin and uk nang stuff is useless when it comes to defending yourself when attacked. Boxing teaches you how to punch properly and wrestling teaches you all the ground moves you will ever need. Plus the training for these two arts keeps you very fit.

Put them in your suitcase and you will have no problem. I have flown from Delhi back to UK several times in the last year and Indian customs do not check your suitcase on the way back to the UK. You do have to get your luggage scanned for security and they put a sticker and a plastic band type thing on to show it has been checked and stop it being tampered with. To further reduce any pilferage attempts you can get it wrapped for 100RS within the airport. On leaving Delhi you do pass through a customs point but this is after you have checked your luggage in and have passed the immigration. They rarely check your hand baggage but this is checked (through Xray and sometimes hand search) before you get to the gate areas. It is not illegal to carry sharp objects in your checked in baggage. I have not seen any people at the customs area at Birmingham airport for a few years. The Akal Takht Jathedar walks through customs with his Jathedars Kirpan so customs do not have an issue with Kirpans.
