1. There you go again deviating from the subject just as the Sikh Fed have done with this Lakahani case and now trying to spin me into a Modi supporter. Here I will use your type of logic, you appear to not like Modi., Is that because you are a big Congress party fan. The same party who's chief Rajiv made the statement "'When a giant tree falls, the earth below shakes" (after thousands of Sikhs were murdered in Delhi). Do you agree with what Rajiv said ? See we can all devaite from the subject and come up with stupid remarks. Your line of thinking (and the Sikh Fed press release) reminds me of Joseph Goebbels (in as much as the spin he put on everything). The Sikh Fed story is simply put, opportunist and centred on the need to create a common enemy and to feed popular resentment. Just like Goebbels used to do. Shame it will not work as people are not as stupid and guillable to the farcical conspiracy theories of the Sikh Fed. Do you admire Goebells story spinning skills ?
2. Maharaja Rhunjeet Singh Ji had many Maharani/Rani. He had issue with many of these Rani. Duleep Singh was one of his sons although the British spun tales about him not being the real father of many of his successor. Maharaja / Raja is not a Sikh title. It is generic title used by Hindu and Sikh rulers so it does not matter if he "shaved his stuff off, married a white woman and converted to christianity". He was very young when many say he was influenced by John Logie (his Guardian after 2nd Anglo Sikh wars) to convert etc. Marrying a white woman does not stop you being a Sikh so that is irrelevant. Also he converted back to Sikhi before he died. I think it is insulting that you refer to him as a fool. The real fool is the person who does not study his/her own history and comes out with rubbish just like the half baked stories you have written in you post based on rubbish you have heard. Get a few decent history books on Sikhi and learn before you refer to others as fools !
3. There is an old Hukumnama which asks Sikhs to keep horses. Horses old fashioned ? Well weaponary has moved on a great deal and in the same sense horses are old fashioned then so are Nihang as most conventional armed forces use guns, mortars etc which no Nihang can fight against.
4. What a load of bobbins, Look in the daily announcements column in the Times or other quality press and you can find out where the Royals are going to be, pop along and hey presto according to your logic you then become prominent. Get real, no one had heard of Lakhani before his arrest. He was a failed business man. Hey check these links that mention Kohli is a Sikh, he may not have said I am a devout Sikh but the press picked up on this and used it for their stories.. Its rubbish reporting and statements that link a criminal to their faith which we always complain about but the Sikh Fed appears to endorse that reporting the faith of criminals convicted for non religioun related crimes is ok as long as you spin a farcical story claiming the individual is prominent etc. http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=384&id=803812004 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshi...set/3891497.stm I think whatever you faith you would try and make use of it to avoid a long sentence. How many times you heard Muslims say Islam is a peaceful religion and we do not believe in violence ? Its human nature when on the defensive to try and come up with all sorts of answers to make your self look better. Stop trying to deviate from this and trying to paint Lakhani as some sort of bigshot Hindu extremist. I have a friend who lives in Devon who's brother in law is in the arms trade and he had not heard of Lakhani (such a small scale arms dealer he was) before the press reports of his arrest. If the Sikh Fed want to try and milk cheap publicity then they can. Fact is Lakhani was a failed business man trying to make a quick buck. All this rubbish and conspiracy theories about the GOI etc is utter rubbish.
5. Nihang are world reknown for being very able horsemen. I never said they HAVE to ride a horse but would it not be better to get full training so the UK nihang were able to ride and fight on horseback as well as doing their fancy kirpan displays on the ground. Pretty pointless being a nihang if you dont know how to ride a horse. A horse rider may be able to be defeated by a lone person on the ground, but I doubt a lone person could beat a nihang on a horse.
6. >>den he died in paris. body burried in surrey all his gold n dat came 2 da queen, das y yea england so rich now. He was not buried in Surrey. He was buried at Elveden which is in Suffolk not Surrey.
7. Who teaches these Nihangs? Where have you seen self defence classes for Nihangs in india, cos id like to pop round to one of em. Depending on someones individual skill they are given certain roles among the army, the cavalry will fight on horseback, while foot soldiers will use arms which are more prefered by them and set out in formation, khanda man taking the lead with tulwar and dhal guys either side to defend him (since he has no sheild), either side of them will be other sets of fighters, behind will be long distance attackers with barshas, saangs and gandasas, behind them will be archers, who all move in formation and one unit to keep each other alive. There is not only one aspect of battlefield fighting, fighting on foot is the most important and hardest to learn, many of the guys who train have gone to india and learnt horse riding, I myself am taking archery classes, again you are making up assumptions without having any knowledge of what goes on in the classes. If your from the UK your more then welcome to come to one of the 6 akharas and see for yourself. 96530 I have seen Nihang training in India. We used to have these Nihang come by our pind with a loads of fine horses every year. They were top guys and they used to wrestle etc and do all that fancy stuff with swords. Dont know what happened to them they dont come by any more. Why they gone to India to learn how to ride ? No riding schools in the UK ? So all the UK nihang wannabe's are not good enough for cavalry ? Why dont the akharas rent a field, build some stables and buy a few horses. Then they could determine who was good enough for the cavalry. If they want desi horses I have contacts for Marwari horses in India and USA. Not sure if they allow you to import Indian horses into the UK but the US ones have been cleared for expert but you can expect to pay $20K for a Marwari from US.
8. Why do you wish to "downplay" this story? He was not just an arms dealer - he was a HINDU arms dealer. Imagine the stories and coverage if he was a SIKH! Also think about the impact around the world if he had provided the capability to knock down 15 US planes on the 2nd anniversary of 9/11. The follwing made Lakhani "prominent" These were mentioned in the original article: In 1977, Lakhani claimed to earn £150,000 a year. He drove a Rolls-Royce and met Prince Charles British intelligence described Lakhani as a "known arms dealer" These were mentioned in the earlier (Indian press article) "The couple . . . are quite well known in the Gujarati community," Patel said. "Hemant Lakhani is known as Babubhai." "The late Lady Diana had inaugurated a building of Sangam, a local women's organisation" that was headed by his wife. It was Lakhani who said: "I'm a devout Hindu and don't believe in violence." AND surely you can not think the INDIAN connection and the reaction of the Indian Intelligence is irrelevant. 96521 Big wow if he was a Hindu and at the same time an arms dealer. I think we have all seen before how we get upset when the press uses the religion of "sehajdhari" Sikhs as headlines so why are the Sikh Fed doing the same. They have no reason to complain now the next time a mona is accused (like that murder Kohli who killed a girl in Southampton) and the press use Sikh in the headlines. Lets analyse the rest of your post. Of cause you are going to profess you are a devout xyz and dont beleive in violence when you are caught. If you want to get into cloud cuckoo land conspiracy theories and pretend this guy was a prominent indian business man then do so. Had you heard about him before he was caught ? No so he was not prominent. Prominent Indian business men are likes of Hindujas (who also get involved in arms dealing), Lakshi Mittal etc etc.
9. Great stuff, Could go to the Kirtan Darbar then after go to the Bicester outlet place and buy lots of designer clothes at discount prices.
10. He wsa son of Maharahja Rhunjeet Singh Ji who ruled Punjab from Lahore. He had many sons of which Dalip Singh was the youngest one. After the Dogra and court intrigue had killed a few successors of Maharaja Rhunjeet Singh, Dalip Singhs mother got two of his elder brothers killed Peshaura Singh and Kashmira Singh killed to make the way clear for Dalip Singh. The British invaded Punjab after the first anglo Sikh war after the second Anglo Sikh war they annexed Punjab and Dalip singh was shifted to UP. From there he came to England became a favourite of Queen Victoria, bought an estate located at Elveden (near Theford, Bury St Edmunds), had a few kids, tried to get his state back by involving Russia who treated him as a joke. He died in France and is buried at Elveden despite converting back to Sikhi a few years before he passed away.
11. Well Nihang are taught how to fight when they do not have access to weapons so I would like to see niddar show how good he is with these aspects of the art he is teaching. Bhajneet, You cant be a nihang if you dont know your horses. Nihang are well known for their ability to fight on horses. No other martial arts (as far as I know) teach how to fiht on horseback. I am suprised Niddar has not bough a Welsh Cob so he can practice fighting on horseback.
12. Caretakers endanger priceless Sikh relics Varinder Walia Tribune News Service Amritsar, April 29 The over-enthusiasm of caretakers has endangered many relics of Sikh history even as the ‘kharavan’ (traditional wooden shoes) and ‘pangura’ (cradle ) belonging to the Sikh Gurus have been covered with gold . The National Institute of Punjab Studies(NIPS) , established to promote cultural heritage of Punjab, has endeavoured to document the endangered relics to create awareness among the heritage-lovers and common man . Mr Mohinder Singh of NIPS and Bhai Vir Singh Sadan, Amritsar, visited Pakistan and far-flung areas, including Lahore, England , Takht Patna Sahib and Hazoor Sahib, to procure rare pictures, pertaining to Sikhism. The NIPS has already brought out eight illustrated books in two years with photographs of rare relics of the Sikh Gurus, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and other historical personalities collected from different repositories in India, Pakistan and the United Kingdom. Talking to TNS here yesterday, Mr Mohinder Singh said the documentary would be shown to the Prime Minister and heritage-lovers. He said Takht Patna Sahib had the richest collection of Guru Granth Sahib birs and hukamnamas but not much attention had been paid to their conservation. A casual visitor is shocked to see the historic ‘pangura’ of Gobind Rai which has lost its original shape. Its jute strings have been replaced by plastic strips while four pegs have been covered with gold. Thus, the facelift puts visitors in doubt whether Guru Gobind Singh actually used it during his childhood. At the Takht we find the robe of Gobind Rai which has been framed in a box. He said the caretakers had compromised with the value of the relics. Similarly, the golden ‘kharavan’ (the traditional wooden shoes) of Guru Teg Bahadur have been covered with gold without being treated by conservation experts. Mr Mohinder Singh said his NGO would attempt to engage heritage experts to preserve the relics in their original design. The robe of the sixth Guru with the Sanga family of Drolli Bhai Ki is kept in a plastic poly bag. It needs to be carefully treated by INTACH or some other professional agency. The team found that the robes of Guru Gobind Singh and clothes of Mata Sahib Kaur with the family of Bhai Dhalla, are kept in poly bags and are being affected by moisture created by use of a cooler in the display room. The robe of Guru Nanak, perhaps the only available relic of the founder of Sikh faith with the Bedi family in Dera Baba Nanak kept in a showcase, is getting affected by moisture. He further said that a rare Guru Granth Sahib bir and weapons of the sixth and ninth Gurus with the Bagrian family need urgent conservation. Mr Mohinder Singh claims that the only relics which have been professionally conserved and taken care of are relics of Guru Gobind Singh in the collection of Capt Amarinder Singh in the New Moti Bagh Palace, Patiala. The team collected rare relics of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and his family found in the Princess Bamba collection in the Lahore Fort Museum.
13. >>prominent Indian businessman When he was caught the British press descirbed him as a failed businessman. All of a sudden Amrik Singh, the Chair of the Sikh Federation (UK) is promoting him to the status of prominent Indian businessman. He was just an arms dealer like what Maggie Thatchers son was during the 1980s. He was trying to make a quick buck and now people reckon he was a topshot hindu terrorist.
14. Please explain. I have seen Niddars web site and there are videos of him grapling etc without arms so I assume nihang can fight without arms. Would be interesting to see how good niddar really was without his shastar against a proper amateur wrestler. I doubt he would last very long going by the grapling videos on his web site. I reckon even Kimbo Slice would take him.
15. So you saying Nihang cannot fight without shastar. I am pretty much certain that Nihang I have seen in Punjab are taught hand to hand close quarter fighting without weapons. Is this not the case ? I know a few amateur wrestlers and I am 100% certain that Niddar would not stand a chance against them without arms. On a side note. Have any UK nangs or nihangs ever ridden a horse ? I bet closest most have got is donkeys at the seaside. One key thing for Nihang is to be able to fight whilst riding. I bet the UK nihang/nangs could not tell difference between a Marwari, Arabian or Thoroughbred let alone ride one.
16. Martial arts isnt something which can be picked up over a video and mastered in 2 hours, set techniques are easy to follow and in your own home infront of a TV you may feel like a Grand Master, however when it comes to real fighting there are much more varialbles involved depending on how skilled your opponent is. I would suggest that you dont comment on what Nihang Niddar Singh teaches unless you have come to the akhara and witnessed it yourself, what you see on the videos on the website is nothing compared to what the true art is. Its funny how you say boxing is good, and wrestling, when we have semi pro boxers and wrestlers, wing chun, okinowa karate, kickboxers, praying mantis, lau gar practitioners who are regular students at the akhara and they still cannot beat Niddar Singh. Surely if the art was useless they would have been able to see through it with all their years of training and still beat him, eh? You say its useless, most attacks in the streets involve knives, baseball bats, bottles, sticks, in the akhara kids learn how to defend themselves against all these, which boxing or wrestling class teaches you real street self defence? If boxing teaches you how to punch properly, why do most boxers end up with knuckle and hand injuries? Ask any of the girls or guys who have defended themselves from attacks and potential rapes if they thought the self defence at the akhara was "useless" Anyway thats a totally diff topic altogether 96168 Actually Home Office statistics paint a different picture. Most attacks do not involve arms. Boxing if learnt correctly is a great art just as you learn how to counter when someone tries to punch you, you can actually counter when someone tries to hit you with a bottle, good head and body movement should allow you to see to most attackers. As for wrestling Guru Hargobind Sahib recognised and promoted it, as it is a supreme art and the fitness/training in no other art comes close to it. As for the nang you are talking about, was there not talk of him being beaten by a guy who had 2 years wrestling experience ? Also if he is so good why dont he join K1 and prove it ?
17. I thought they showed there were good karkoo and bad as highlighted by the twat who makes remarks aginst Divya Dutta and the other karkoo gives him a slap and tell him she is his sister.
18. OK so if I do not want to write caucasian it is ok to use honkey, red kneck etc knowing there are racial undertones to the words and for african americans it is shorter to write nigger and as all the rappers use this word then it should be ok to use on the forums? Very lame excuses. Sikhi teaches us to respect others and this is a Sikhi forum. Kumi, it will not take you 20minutes extra to write Pakistani, its an extra 5 letters.
19. This mans a G, hes got so much pyaar, i understand now, soz fow ma pervious comments, u lot were rite , next time ill win Turn away in disgust?? The Granth is carrying your Guru, and you'd turn away in disgust- that would also entail turning away from Guru Ji And if a 'paki' was doing seva with shoes on you'd beat him up???? Maybe he doesn't know he's meant to have his shoes off! 96267 Um tha granthi wasnt carrying guru ji he was doin shour sahib, buh i think that when satnding by or next to gruu ji [on the same platform] i think u should not ever wear shoes, i dow like ppl that do that. 96268 This topic was once raised at the local Gurdwara in UK and so they asked a learned respected baba who was visiting for his opinion. He was of the opinion that it was OK to wear shoes becasue would you rather go into the Darbar hall and Sachkand with clean feet or with dirt on them. He said at most Gurdwara in UK there was no facility like in India to wash your feet before you entered a Gurdwara so it was better to wear shoes and take them off before entering the Guru Ghar. Plus it is not unknown to step in dog poo etc with shoes on so would you want to do this and go into Sachkand area ? We are not meant to observe petty rituals and have such taboos so what is the problem with shoes ? Please can you cut down on the "Paki" remarks. It degrades the debate and puts the debate down to gutter level. 96272 doesnt paki mean pure???? 96281 I am sure you know it is used as a racial slur as well and going by what you have written it appears there was rhetoric behind you using it. Pure and the slur you use both have the same number of letters (4) so write pure if that is what you mean !

21. What a fantastic film. It shows Punjab Police brutality and how they killed people in fake encounters. It shows Divya Dutta being told by police to urinate on her brothers face (Gurdas Mann), again such things happened. It shows how the police used the troubles to make a lot of money by registering false cases on people. It shows how people were caught in the middle when militants came to their homes and then the police would come and make life a misery for those who gave roti etc to militants. It shows bad charachters who joined the militants (eg when the militants go to Gurdas Mann's house and one of the militants eyes up Divya Dutta) he is slapped by another militant after passing a remark. It shows militants planting bombs which some did do (please dont tell me it was all down to GOI agents as the Panthic Committees were happy issuing statements claiming such attacks when they could have issued denials). Overall a great film and I would reccomend you all watch it.
22. He should not have been kicked out. The Akal Takht will do nothing. People take wheel chairs around sarovar and leave wheel chairs at Darshani Deori (right in front of the Akal Takht) and get to the Darbar Sahib the best they can. As I have mentioned before I know people who are severely disabled and cannot stand so walking is out the question but they do not make an issue out of this and do matha teyk without a wheel chair etc. They are helped by their family members to do matha teyk and then sit for a while in the Darbar hall before going to the langar hall where they can sit in their wheel chairs. Just the other day I saw an aged women who walks with a special diasability aids made for her legs (they strap on to her legs). She sat on a chair took them off and went to do matha teyk as best she could. Why is it that people cannot follow the example set by such people instead of wanting to take wheelchairs etc into the Darbar hall.
23. Naamsar you have stated facts, this is not nindha. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the sangat. So its all coming out now. Did no one give him a slap when he questioned what the Taksal had done for the panth. If it is true how dare he question the supreme sacrifice of Baba Deep Singh and all those who followed his honourable footsteps. What has he done for the panth ? He drives around in a 45 lakh SUV, Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale drove around in a bus. We can all see who the luxury lapping baba are and who the true panthic sevadar are. Looks like people are getting caught up in the hype surrounding him and in doing so are prepared to defend him. Look at Sikh Soldiers post "...when he hasnt done anything wrong yet to bring him down yet(not including minor things you have mentioned)..." . So it is "minor" to rubbish the Taksal ? I am not a follower of the Taksal but I have the up most respect for the Taksal and its great tradition. How dare he question the great history of Taksal. He shows disrespect to the Taksal that has produced great panthic servants ranging from Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji to Baba Takhur Singh Ji yet is prepared to tell stories about Baba Jarnail Singh Ji. Sounds like he is trying to appeal to people as he is well aware that people have huge respect for Baba Jarnail Singh Ji. Nice way to attract more dollars.
24. I got copies of Snake in the Eagles Shadow and Drunken Master (both starring Jackie Chan) and just followed how he learns. You should be able to master complex kung fu in 2 hours using this method. Seriously try wrestling and boxing. Guru Hargobind Sahib promoted wrestling. This shin kin and uk nang stuff is useless when it comes to defending yourself when attacked. Boxing teaches you how to punch properly and wrestling teaches you all the ground moves you will ever need. Plus the training for these two arts keeps you very fit.
25. Put them in your suitcase and you will have no problem. I have flown from Delhi back to UK several times in the last year and Indian customs do not check your suitcase on the way back to the UK. You do have to get your luggage scanned for security and they put a sticker and a plastic band type thing on to show it has been checked and stop it being tampered with. To further reduce any pilferage attempts you can get it wrapped for 100RS within the airport. On leaving Delhi you do pass through a customs point but this is after you have checked your luggage in and have passed the immigration. They rarely check your hand baggage but this is checked (through Xray and sometimes hand search) before you get to the gate areas. It is not illegal to carry sharp objects in your checked in baggage. In the past I have carried several kirpans etc without any problems. If anyone has any problems at Delhi airport then you can phone the on duty airport manager on : 01125696579. I have not seen any people at the customs area at Birmingham airport for a few years. The Akal Takht Jathedar walks through customs with his Jathedars Kirpan so customs do not have an issue with Kirpans.
