If you com your hair twice a day - preferably with a LARGE kanga, ie one that goes thru your kesh and touches the scalp (but not rip it obviously) you comb all the hair including the loose hairs inside. It enabled your kesh to become stronger, and more resistant to breaking - falling out when you combed it. The purpose was, in the jungle, Singhs couldnt leave traces behind they were there, so taking care of the kesh was so important!! Also because its your Gurus Kesh!! I want my Guru to have lovely kesh so comb it about 50times a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Helps! (the above was something someone once told me, how true it is i dont know but it does marry up with something i once read at hairdressers....)

Isnt the whole purpose of this band to show we are proud to be Sikhs? Its just a money making scam!! If you want to show you are proud to be Sikhi, Keep Panj Kakkar, wear Bana, show the people who you are and stand out in the crowd not wear a little band. At work i have to explain why i wear a kara to some people or why i wear 2 kirpans. I have to explain what Sikhi is, where it came from etc. If it takes me longer to do this its off no inconvenience to me as that person walks away having learnt something about Sikhi. The bands are pointless adaptations to wearing a kara. We shouldnt promote that. Guru Ji gave us Dastar to stand out in the crowd and we do. If people think we are some one we are not than thats up to us to correct them. Not take the easy option and by a band which says im sikh! My man is just trying to make money of Sikh and despite the fact that some money might be going to the Gurdwara, whats to say we cant just go and see our Guru Ji, give him the cash directly, cut out the middle man and become his slaves? The first time i went out in public in bana (not to Gurdwara) but in city centre, i had alot of people look at me, some were amazed, and some "how come he can carry a sword about and not get arrested" (If in bana then shud be thiyaar bi thyiaar in my eyes!!) Was crossing a road and a Singh bus driver actually stopped the bus, JUST to let us pass - there was nothing behind him, BUT he stopped to let Guru Jis Khalsa Army walk past. check what the law says, some one told me once a 6" is accepted as a guy at uni was informed of this wen the security guard noticed him wearing in halls. Or jst get a smaller gathra for school. Sounds bad BUT in school you kinda have to compromise. Even at work, tho i can wear my kirpans openly, no1 says nething, if i take of my jumper coz TOO hot, i wrap gathra around waste, not as im scared of what people might say or because im not allowed, its the fact that i cnt be bothered with the hassels of geting asked why i wear on the outside every 2 minutes (only singh in the company..) Outside of wrk tho, always on the outside! Schools and work places kinda act as the same thing, show a mutual respect to stay away from unnecasary hassel. just tighten gathra of use a kamarkasa (u love nihangs, adopt their maryada on this one too). Kamakasa wil secure it so it doesnt move around to much. Even police wont say nothin then unles they dnt like you as our boys generaly walk past with kukris etc on and no1 says nothin... WJKK WJKF

i dnt see how if next man is standing behind you and gets smacked in the mouth thats the fault of your kara!! Mainly due to the extension on your arm from the racket will impact first!!! - Say even if a kara wasnt there, would still get a good stike!!! Apologies for my persistance in proving the kara has no hinderance on daily life and pe. until a valid reason is given, dnt see why it should even need to be taken!! simply cover it up. tye some material around it - like keski or so, how i do grappling. kara is very nicely and securly tied!! better then sweat bands too as kara can slip out.

Why compromise over such an issue? If Singhs could go to WAR with MORE THEN ONE kara on y cnt we do pe? If Singhs could play pro sports with them on y cnt we do pe? If a Singh can box with a kara on y cnt we do pe? If a Singh can grapple with a kara on, y cnt we do pe? I never had a problem wearing a kara to do ne sport. I jst made sure it was a small one and not a big one. it doesnt stop blood flow, it dnt hurt me, it doesnt hurt no1 else unless they come into it and if they do its their problem not mine as they shud never get so close!!! A kara is part of a Sikhs uniform. If you went to school not wearing correct uniform they would shout at you. Saint Soldier, - Saint First, the Soldier - explains itself - Guru Granth Sahib first, then Dassam Granth as Dassam Granth is so much more difficult.

i was lucky in a way that i saw myself in amrit sanchar. Wen the rehat was being given i had a dream of this image, that image was then. That must have been my calling. You know because you are hungry, you are thirsty, you can fill ur stomach on snacks and drinks but u still more hungry! you crave something so sweet nothing can fill it. Thats when you want amrit. Ask yourself, are you ready to die? Are you scared to die? Me personally, id rather have this life taken and be with Guru Ji in Sach Khand. Only Guru Ji can bless me with that much and i can only hope i dont have another life on this planet. See what happens, but point being, you have to work for it! You will get tested so much to see if your ready and when you are, amrit sanchar will be there. If not, and you ready, let us know and we can arrange one! Do lots of simran, feed your soul sikhi! Then go to Guru Ji and offer your head, if he wants it, he will take it. If your not ready, then he wont. But until you take the step to beg for death, you cant have it.

ermmmmmmmmmmmmmm, how about you dont pick and choose maryada but take it all on and not sections? Just had a gppd evening at a simran night with a really good lecture after. We who have given our heads wear shastar, wear a Sri Sahib, have bana (most of us) but are we proud to wear them? Openly? answer is no. we will take them off (except 5ks) wen someone asks us. We will hide what needs to be hidden for work and school. We pick and choose bits to suit our life style, not sacrifice our lifestyle for the Singhs and Singhnis that set the example to us time and time again. maybe you should? so when a muslim for instance approaches you with regards to Sikhi, and reads qoutes from Maharaj to to blow you out, and firstly you dont know what he sayin (if you dont understand bani obvioulsy) and then 2, how would you counter argue with no knowledge of Islam? Im pretty sure nihangs have read the Quran to bro, and you do want to be nihang so might we worth givin it a glimpse. mite learn something.

best idea is the network one!!! I been finding it hard these past few days as i caught up sleep, messed up my body clock a treat!!! if i dnt sleep for a while its easy, then if catch up on sleep, messes everything up!! is that normal? Bro jst keep workin at amrit vela and do ardaas. Set your clock earlier then normal, ie an hour before you want to get up and that usually works too, you get anoyed having to keep snoozing it so u eventually wake up and do paath.

Read thr Quran. It has intresting parts to it, some are actually good! May i suggest you read before you write? (some one says that to me alot, now puting into practice). Its good to know other people religions so you know you are not offending anyone by ignorance of not knowing their faith as many make with us. Especially gora, "Sikhs believe in going to mecca yeh?" great question i used to get asked. Im sure people are aware, muslims read Maharaj to find flaws, have they found any? No. Have we found flaws in the Quran, well not flaws as such (trying not to offend here) but huge contradictions within itself and to modern day life. Ie, world is flat, hmmm, Chris Columbo proves otherwise... (it was columbo yeh?) Sikhi is about learning, the work Sikh means learn! Guru Gobind Singh is a prime example alone! He knew about Islam inside out, Hinduism and spoke their languages. Why? because it assisted him in daily life and its also useful to know. I havent read Maharaj yet, maybe soon i will. I have read parts though. I read the bible because went to a Chrsitian school. Unlike many sangat on here, i didnt get into Sikhi until i went to Uni. I read the Quran as it was debated with me so much in a uni freshers fair, i said i would read to understand what the person telling me was truth was really about. I said to him, you read my Guru, and i will read the Quaran. He never read Maharaj, he said he cudnt because he is not allowed. Never gave a reason, jst not allowed.
