The offences are said to have happened in and around Rochdale, Greater Manchester, in 2008 and 2009. Liverpool Crown Court heard how the men, aged between 22 and 59 and from Oldham and Rochdale, "acted together to sexually exploit the girls". All deny conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child under 16. Rachel Smith, opening the case for the prosecution, said one 13-year-old fell pregnant to one of the defendants and had an abortion. She said another girl felt flattered by the attention but that she quickly became regularly heavily drunk, depressed and "incapable of getting herself out of the situation". Another teenager recalled being raped by two men while she was "so drunk she was vomiting over the side of the bed", she added. Miss Smith said: "No child should be exploited as these girls say they were." 'Raped and assaulted' The court heard that some of the girls were raped and physically assaulted and some were forced to have sex with "several men in a day, several times a week". Miss Smith said the girls were given alcohol, food and money in return for sex but that there were times when violence was used. The court was told that some of the defendants also took payments from other men to whom they supplied the girls for sex. The girls involved were not in school regularly and often "drank and smoked and hung around with little to do". One of the men worked at The Balti House in Heywood, which is now under new ownership Miss Smith said they were the "sort of children who were easy to identify, target and exploit for the sexual gratification of these men". The court heard the men knew each other and two of them worked in takeaways in Heywood, Rochdale, called Tasty Bites and the Balti House. Both takeaways are now under new ownership. Four of the men worked as cab drivers at local taxi firms, one was a student and four were jobless. Kabeer Hassan, 24, Abdul Aziz, 41, Abdul Rauf, 43, Mohammed Sajid, 35, Adil Khan, 42, Abdul Qayyum, 43, Mohammed Amin, 44, Qamar Shahzad, 29, Liaquat Shah, 41, and Hamid Safi, 22, have all pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child under 16. The jury also heard that in about August 2008 Abdul Aziz "took over" from the 59-year-old and started taking girls to various locations where they would have sex with older men. One of these locations was a flat in Jephys Street, Rochdale, where Mohammed Sajid and Mohammed Shazad lived, where a "group of men" would always be waiting to have sex with them. After throwing up unreasonable demand after unreasonable demand the talks were called off. They seem to be putting up obstacles on purpose to slow down the energy of the youth and have no interest in furthering the teachings of our Guru's. Internal politics have ruined the Gurdwara we were brought up in. We have a meeting with the second Dudley Gurdwara on thursday to talk about moving the youth movement there with a rough date of the second week of feb for our first Gurmat Camp there which will have the presence of either Sangat TV or Sikh Channel. We wanted to be peaceful and help turn Dudley Gurdwara around, it is with a heavy heart that we are now going to base our youth group away from the home we were born into." 7/2/12: "After a meeting between Dudley Youth and Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara, Dudley, we have agreed to create a Gurmat Camp during half term, more details will be available over the coming days. And just for the record, im not asking for this to happen because it "backfired" on me lol....(where your paranoia comes up i have no idea!), i gave my opinion and said how i felt. I don't really understand what backfired. i asked for the thread to be closed because of the outrageous post by the one member, which i stil feel is totally out of order. It can stay on if they don't feel the need to close it, I've got no problem with my opinion being left on here! Finally, in regards to the ticket agent issue....you're actually wrong. There were two other independent agents who had sold tickets too. also, although i wish this doesn't happen, i doubt that this airline will last even a few more months. what'll really be funny then is tethat people will say one ticket agent closed down an airline. smarter people will see the reality.

You are totally right about the silence of sangat tv about the khalistan issue. my personal opinion is that Sikh channel made their view known about their position regarding this issue in theire reply to the ofcom letter....stating that they had got rid of the presenter who had used the "offensive" things against india and its government, and that his views did not reflect those of the channel. ain't heard nothing about khalistan since that. you speak of news and sangat tv not reporting worthwhile stories that need coverage. again, i agree with you. but again, i also think that this applies to both channels. Sikh channel news is on now. I've been watching for half an hour. Their feature story is about a land issue between father and son where the pind members had to intervene......groundbreaking. i viewed your pics of the 3ho stuff. totally wrong. reminds me of the time the nirmala guy was doing the same kinda stuff at his house....the day after he had presented his programme on Sikh channel. lol. lets be fair hear.

I hope sikhsangat exercise some sort of damage limitation and not only close but also delete this thread that i started. i am not the biggest fan of Sikh channel and its my personal opinion that their decision makers have had poor judgment in the past resulting in dire consequences (just ask the UK naujawans for a start) but i would never dream about saying such derogatory words about the channel, as you have said about sangat tv, as its still a channel in existence to promote Sikhi, i cannot believe your words im curious to know whether you are from uk or if you are a moderator from abroad. Because it really seems inconceivable how you could say all of those things about a channel if you actually watched it on a regular basis. the youth thing for example. have you not heard or watched sangat kids? have you asked Sikh youth project why they left Sikh channel and appeared on sangat tv? thatwant to example's just one example....idon't want to counter your other remarks as i really want to exercise some form of damage limitation and ask you to kindly delete this thread.

Erm, im a little confused. I dont remember saying anything about who broke the story and who got there first or anything like that.....why does it always have to be about who won the race?! Lol, i was speaking of the quality of coverage. Where Sangat TV had the travel agent, Sikh Channel just spent the majority of their air time cursing the guy...respect to the guy for calling in the Sikh Channel studio and saying his piece and made himself heard. In my personal opinion, Sikh Channel need more skilled presenters who dont jump on the bandwagon and curse people....like what the presenter was doing in regards to the agent. Its not professional. Agreed, let the people calling in say what they want, but the presenter should be the voice of mutuality. Its not even a fact that the airline in question had released a statement, so how can a television presenter take a stance against one party when BOTH parties hadn't even been spoken to?! Lol. I refer to such statements like; "If the agent is honest, why is he hiding? Why does he not answer calls?" Erm...maybe because he's appearing live on the other channel and explaining himself mate!

Just wanted to big up Sangat TV for their coverage of the Comtel/Vienna flight fiasco. They actually got the main travel agent in question on their show, who addressed the audiences appropriately... Our friends in the Sikh Channel also in my opinion showed their stupid tactics again, by basically berating the guy....with stupid presenter bias and calls from stupid people making stupid claims against the agent before asking his version of events. Lol, the presenter actually accused the agent of hiding and not addressing the issue and letting the general public know anything....when the reality was that he just went to Sangat TV instead! So bitter these guys are... Big up also the the agent in question, who rang into the Sikh Channel show to tell his side of the story.

Porsche911, I respect the passion that you have and with which you speak about your Gurdwara sahib. Its nice to see and the institution would benefit from having people that think like you in its committee. Regarding the Gurdwara being perceived as a museum....im not from that area, so if you say its not the case then i suppose youre in a better place to make that judgment, as you know your Gurdwara sahib better than me. In regards to speaking to this committee member one to one, i have no interest in doing so. I know not all committee members of Gurdwaras are the same, but this individuals badly planned remarks and decisions lead me to believe that i can imagine how the conversation would go if i did speak with him. Im sure he would think of Banda Singh Bahadur as the greatest warrior that ever lived. Im sure he would think of Mai Bhago and the greatest wariorress that ever lived. Im sure he would think of Beant Singh and Satwant Singh as the greatest shaheeds that ever lived. Ive been around committees, done it, and got the tshirt, and i can safely say that from my experience, people with judgment like this particular individuals have more faces than the clock and will swap opinions and stances depending on the person they are talking to...APART from the time they get wound up and hot headed, leading to a remark made out of anger, which is when their true feelings come out....ring any bells? I come on here to give my opinion. Im not interested in talking to him in the slightest. He's not accountable to me. He is accountable to his committee and the sangat who have given him the status as a committee member. But mostly, and ultimately, he is accountable to guru maharaj. Guru Panth Khalsa, I must admit that i believe you are telling the truth. The way you come across and the details you give seem very truthful and another thing that makes me believe you is the fact that ive seen this scenario time and time again with committees and their "sunday sermons" to their local sangat members, albeit NEVER directly related to putting down Shaheed Singhs like these people have done. I would also like to say that although it is interesting how many singhs from outer areas came and addressed the sangat today, if history is anything to go by, normal service will sadly resume next week onwards, when these people will have an extra vendetta to spread hate about local sangat today who supported the Singhs from outer areas. Until singhs dont start going to these places week in week out until change occurs, nothing will happen. I believe it should be the duty of the BSC to do this but lets not kid ourselves... Also, the first thing i think of when someone mentions the Leamington Gurdwara to me is (apart from its grand design) the amazing art work...the massive photos of Banda Singh Bahadur and Mai Bhago (in the stairwells)...i have not seen such grand paintings with attached timelines in any other Gurdwara in the UK....so, what message are the committee members trying to give, when they say that there is no way they will allow anyone to speak about anyone but the Gurus? To me, the message is that they built this Gurdwara Sahib as a tourist attraction. Almost as a museum. As a gallery. As a picture of sikhism to the mainstream. Forgetting the very meaning of a Gurdwara sahib....that it is our Gurus house. End of. What a very bad judgement that committee member made who said no one but the Gurus would be spoken about...

This is either a case of someone starting a complete lie, or its a case of bad intentioned committee folk acting as though butter wouldnt melt in their mouths, for the purposes of media only. From what i have heard of this Gurdwara Sahibs committee, i would be lnclined to believe (and i hope i am wrong) that they are covering up. What these people need to understand is that yes, saying something on TV to the world on one occasion will mean the message will get through to people, and it will enable the committee to have an extent of clearance on the issue, HOWEVER, what they preach on stages on any given sunday, the bullying they do to sangats on any given sunday, is something that in the long run they will not be able to cover up, and they will get their comeuppance from Guru Maharaj. So just to clarify, i DO hope that it was all a fabrication, and that no group of people managing a Gurdwara sahib would utter such vitriol, but i do get the feeling that if anyone was to attend any institution on a weekly basis that causes controversy like this, they would see the true picture for themselves, and i do not for a second believe that this is the last we will hear of controversies arising from the Leamington Gurdwara...

My friend, i didnt mean to imply that all Sikh Channel do is spread hatred. I would not have used those words myself, but Paneer monster seems to think that i am spreading hatred about Sikh Channel in my post above. Now, is posting a link in which there is a print screen of hate being spread by the official Sikh Channel facebook page evidence of me spreading hate?! I merely stated fact. And in relation to D Day, you either havent been watching their live shows on the channel or you dont understand punjabi. The way they degraded respected individuals and jathebandiya with taunts of "i know their history, i will tell their whole story on here, there was a time when they were begging me and calling themselves dogs" (or words to that effect)....now, that is what i would call spreading hate. Somewhere along the lines, their tactic changed from positively promoting the D Day through dialogue, to belittling and slandering the people who were not supporting it. I.e. Sikh Council UK, Sangat TV, Sikh Federation, and all other Jathedandiya..... Its nice to see so many Sikhs have used their own initiative and attended today. There is a fairly good turn out. However, i see hardly any youth. In comparison to elders and mostly bibiya. This just makes me believe more firmly that what Sikh Channel did regarding Satkaar Campaign and the Dudley saga and the Youth show has really alienated them.

News has just been released that Sikh Council UK & Sikh Federation UK have secured Dastaar rights with the Italian Embassy. Congrats. Now, watch Sikh Channel try and take the plaudits for this. Also, i dont know how many people watched that joke of a propoganda show on Sikh Channel yesterday but it was a total disgrace. No wonder our own people have no respect for sikhi when people go on tv and slate sikhs and jathebandiya like was being done on the show yesterday. How they were speaking about respected sikhs was disgusting. If Sangat TV wanted to stoop as low as Sikh Channel, they would send their camera crew to the D Day tomorrow, film a clip of a rogue singh throwing a brick at a policeman and broadcast it on their channel as "Protest erupts into violence" maybe even giving the footage to the met police and changing their facebook status to a message wishing bad on all singhs present. Im also curious as to how Sikh Channel will report incidents of violence (God forbid any actually occurs - i hope not). I mean, they made a gathering of a couple hundred sangat doing kirtan and simran at dudley sound like the battle of hastings, what do they perceive happening by gathering thousands of people at a protest in central lonfon called D Day?!! I keep thinking that this time theyve bitten off more than they can chew. Their hunger for exposure and mainstream fame is too big for their stomachs. This will not pull off like they need it to.

Fateh Ji. Lol, for a while now i have been witnessing the escalation of the Sikh Channel / Sangat TV animosity. And as a totally impartial viewer, with no links or ties to either channel, i must say that my logical thinking skills lead me to believe that Sikh Channel and its bosses are people i have come to have very minimal respect for. 1.) The first thing that i remember was when Sangat TV was being mentioned as a new channel that was going to go on air. What do Sikh Channel do? They buy the domain "www.sangat.tv". If you type in www.sangat.tv in your web browsers, have a look at what comes up. You are redirected to Sikh Channel website. Now, do you think that was accidental?! That was very low and politically driven. 2.) The day of the Dudley Protest. Sangat TV have a show detailing the events of the day, that the morcha was Fateh, that women and children were doing kirtan and simran on the road, and that there were also short bursts of violence but nothing in comparison to the good that went on during the event. Straight after that, Sikh Channel have a show in which they show footage of which 90% was the violence of the day, which incidentally lasted about 5 minutes over the whole course of the event on the day, which lasted about 8 hours. In my opinion, deliberately to undermine Sangat TV's footage and coincide with their version of events. Again, very very low and politically driven. It is since this gross misjudgement of Sikh Channel that the Youth Show hosts expressed their wish to leave and a lot of Youth detached themselves from the channel. 3.) Riots. Sangat TV footage is used by BBC, Sky News, as well as numerous other corporations, their name is mentioned in the House of Commons and the Prime Minister David Cameron reports to commend the channel on their hard work during the troubles. Sikh Channel do not show footage by Sangat TV. However, this one i can understand, because the old school rivalry is still ever so present in our people and this example is the epitome of it. BBC and ITV can show each others footage but our all but two media channels cannot due to pride. Moving on.... It is my humble opinion that this whole "D Day" event is a total marketing ploy for Sikh Channel. I dont care how many singhs come on here and talk about the late release of the Sikh Council statement, the fact is that all Jathebandiya and organisations know its not relevant and i urge you to look further into what our media channels should be doing as a duty, especially when they are forever appealing for sangats money. The truth is that Sangat TV took the plaudits and became renowned in the mainstream for their riots coverage, and SIkh Channel are looking to cause a scene in the capital and attract mainstream media coverage of their own by causing much ado about the nothing. But the lowest aspect of all of this for me personally is the lowly attention grabber - that being the naming of the event "D Day". Of course a "D Day" 'protest become awareness' event will grab attention, but i totally think this will be bad publicity due to the meaning of D Day to the British public. D Day is remembered by the British public on 6th June in commemoration of the D Day landings in the Battle of Normandy in 1944. I really dont know who it is that think up these ideas in the offices of Sikh Channel, but im surprised to see how little this point has been mentioned during this post. What if the British people started a protest against civil rights on the 13th April and called it Vaisakhi? How would we feel?! Lol...in my opinion, these cheap shot attention grabbing tactics of Sikh Channel are totally wrong. They need to arrange initiatives for the chardi kala of the panth, their programmes should reflect this, but sadly, i think it is becoming apparent that the Sikh Channel guys are purely businessmen. I think we will see increasingly that Jathebandiya will lose trust in them, and will utilize Sangat TV as their media outlet. Fateh Ji.

I did not wish to take this measure, but I have copied and pasted below my letter of resignation to the committee. I felt that I needed to get the truth from my side across, and I offer you all to have a read of my reasoning, and then feel free to judge me as you wish. I would also like to add, that the Gurdwara first and foremost belongs to Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and then the Sangat, so I will continue to do Seva at the Gurdwara with all of my heart, no committee members pushed me out and no committee members could have done so. My reasons were personal and I wish them all the luck. The primary reasons for my resignation are all listed in the letter and they are the only reasons I resigned. Therefore, I would kindly ask anyone else who may have an issue with me and the Seva that I have done in the past, the Seva that I do currently, and the Seva that I will continue to do in the future, to approach me at Guru Nanak Singh Sabha Gurdwara on any given Sunday and let their feelings be known to my face. There is one more thing I would like to add. I have been attending this Gurdwara for 20 years now. My parents and grandparents have been for a lot longer than that even. I would like to kindly request the people who have been approaching my grandmother since my resignation and victimising her by speaking untruths about me to please stop doing so. If you wish to accuse me of things then have the decency to say so to me, I will gladly answer every query you may have. I ask forgiveness from the almighty and the Sangat for anything that I have said which has caused offence. I would like to express my appreciation for your leadership and counsel during the duration of my Seva in the Committee. I have learned a lot and this will be of great value to me in the future. However, the route that the committee have taken in regards to some of its policy and decisions leave me with no choice but to hand in my resignation due to the fact that such policies are totally against my personal views, beliefs and morals. Particularly in regards to the removal of the "Sikh Cultural Centre" sign from the building. When I asked what the basis for this decision to be passed in the committee was, I was told the following: <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">That the Council said the name of the building was "Wellington Road Community Centre" and that the Sikh community should first return the money that the council have put into centre, then they call it what they want. <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">That the Council said the funding of the GNSS Senior Citizens Forum cannot be increased due to the fact that the building is called "Sikh" Cultural Centre and is therefore limited to Sikh people only. That the Sikh Cultural Centre belongs to the Council and the therefore the Sikh community cannot assume ownership. I was also granted permission by the committee to approach the Council and clarify these issues seen as though I am currently in training at Dudley MBC. Having done so, it became clear from the department I spoke to that in response to the above points: <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">The Council have no involvement in the Sikh Cultural Centre <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">The name of the building on their records was officially "Sikh Cultural Centre" That although funding was taken care of by another department of the Council, the name of the building would not affect the decision to increase/decrease funding, and this would be determined by the nature and strength of the applying organisations application. Therefore it is clear that the committee's decision to remove the signs was not evidence based, and the reasons presented were false. The biggest dilemma for myself is the fact that Singh's and Kaur's are facing torture and becoming martyrs in India to this very day, in order to maintain the "Chardi Kala" of the Sikh Qaum, and our committee is happy to go backwards and remove our proud name off buildings that we have ownership of. This is an insult to all the sacrifices people have made over the years. It is also my opinion that the Gurdwara should be promoting Sikhi culture. I do not wish for my name to be associated with such acts that I feel are quite immoral. I wish to stay truthful to myself, the Sadh Sangat and most importantly, Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I wish to have no further part in this committee, one that inevitably people will look back on one day and agree that substantial, long lasting mistakes were made.
