  1. "But as long as politicians get their share and the people remain ignorant of these facts, hey, nothing will get done. " I don't even think its about ignorance brother. I think that even after watching these videos ppl still gonna chow down because thats how much a strangle hold maya has on ppl. The swaad of meat just can't be beat (hey that rhymed) for these ppl. Its sickening, I was showing this video to someone on msn and he was like oh i already seen it. I don't care about how they die, its us or them. I WAS LIKE SHOCKED. I'm like so if we don't kill the animals they gonna kill us? Maan ppl will do anything to justify there tastes. I think we as sikhs should do something more then just boycott meat. I think we should seriously try to get the word out about all this. Lets do our part gursikho. Its time we stop just practicing sikhi from the top. We need to delve into it and practice the principles fully. Oh and is the same sort of treatment happening in canada? does anyone know. I'm asking because i wanna know if i should give up milk now? MY TWO CENTS.
  2. Hey superaju. No offence but it would really help ppl like me if you would just write in english. It takes to much effort to try to figure out the punjabi words made from english letters.. thanks mate
  3. sorry its not akaali fauji..its khalsa fauji
  4. nice post akaali fauji.. respect to you... didn't look at it like that.. but still.. we as gursikhs can only let ppl bark bikwaas about our gurus for so long..u agree? you have to realize why people are upset.. EXACTLY WHAT HEERA SINGH WRONG ABOVE. he is treating the gurus as if htey were regular ppl who were gifted.. But i give respect to you and what u wrote in ur post..made me think..
  5. Khalsi Fauji bro. I am all about pyaar and aikhta for the panth. I try to base my life on pyaar singh. If you knew me or anyone who knows me they would tell you the same. This isn't about whether Guru ji went to rome. This is about sinister always finding ways to disrespect the gurus. Its about sinister being a internet nerd who probably has never had the guts to practice sikhi himself so he needs to disrespect it. If you read any of his posts their is always a hint of "listen to me cause i'm so high mightyt" in his posts. THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH DISRESPECT I CAN TAKE. I mean i have been quiet for a long time just reading and reading this guys b.s. Because i know its not worth it to get into it with these "internet warriors". They are usually scared weak people that have nothing in their lives except these forums. He articulates his arguments well but he does so much disrespect of sikhi while he is writing. That is why i spoke up. So the issue isn't whether guru ji went to rome. I don't know if he did or not. The issue is about this ADMIN CUT trying to justify his view point through arguments that are disrespectful to sikhi. And since we have established we both live in the same city it won't be hard at all to get together with this mahan intelectual. If he has the guts to stand by his words and come out of hiding. Which he probably doesn't because like i said he's probably a scared weak person who doesn't have the guts to stand by what he says.
  6. Hey Sinister YOUR FROM CALGARY? So am I. Meeting you won't be as hard as i previously thought. Ok so now give me your name and lets get together. I live in the north west. But i'll drive anywhere to meet you to talk. So either P.M me or tell me your name on this thread. If you wish not to meet. At least give me your number so we can talk. :e: LOOK FWD TO SEEING YOU. Calling me a <banned word filter activated>. Thanks mate apreciate it. If me believing in the ridhi sidhis which have been documented by mahan gursikhs and guru ji makes me a <banned word filter activated> so be it. We'll se what u have to say when we talk face to face.
  7. Oh my God. I can't believe this ignorant fool sinister is even allowed to speak about sikhi. His ego is out of control. He doesn't even believe in ridhi sidhi which is like the easiest thing to obtain for a naam abhiyaasi gursikh. These powers are so well known to gursikhs its pure and utter ignorance to question their existance. Even westerners who do some bhagti obtain these and write about them AND THIS FOOL IS SAYING THAT HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN THEM. WOW.. Man i thought u were some what inteligent from your posts, but u just proved your stupidity. HAHA. Oh and if you are any man of you words, why don't you debate with me face to face. You shouldn't be afraid if you speak the truth. I'm not even going to start debating with you on here. I want to do it face to face. PM me where u live and i will come their with learned singhs and we can have a nice little debate over some chaa
  8. I've read enough of sinister's "anti sikhi, i'm such an intellectual" posts. You think guru ji couldn't travel to other galaxies. WOW...WOW... Guru ji talks about numurous galaxies, why cause he seen em. I know gursikhs that can leave their body and travel to other galaxies and your saying guru ji couldn't. I know of spiritualists who have written many books of leaving your body and traveling the universe. AND YOUR SAYING GURU JI COULDN'T. I have to say this. YOU NEED TO SHUT UR MOUTH BEFORE U GET SMACKED IN IT. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats feels a lot better. To much krodh in me sangat ji.. Please pray i get rid of it. People like this sinister really get to me.. Please sangat pray that i get control over the five chors. Cause i'm liable to lose control on these sikhi bashing morons. WOW there it comes out again. Need to do more naam bani... pray for me sangat ji.
  9. On a more serious note. The amount of respect that is due to these singhs cannot be measured. We as sikh youth need to get behinde these gursikhs and support them any way we can. It is breaking my heart to see these ppl being punished for defending the sanctity of Guru ji. And the reporting by these biased news papers makes me sick to my stomach. Does anyone have any information on how we can help support these mahan Seva dars.
  10. LOL @ "LOL just because none of your friends wished you a happy B-day you think we shouldnt celebrate it?? Awwww HAPPY B-DAY BRO!!! " "dhan dhan sikhi" I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I don't agree with you calling ppl who celeberate their birthdays "brained wash sheep". Sikhs have to realize that statements like this don't bring less orthodox sikhs (who may celeberate bdays) any closer to sikhi. It scares them. I mean bro this is such an egotistical judgemental statment. A gursikh doesn't even judge a maha paapi. You can say these things if you are at a really really high level. Like Sant ji was when he exposed slavery. But bro you can't go around calling people these things because they do something you believe is wrong. I somewhat agree with you celeberating birthdays is a waste. But I doubt a chardi kalla singh would not say happy birthday to someone who was celeberating it. I think he would just know he is above this but still wish happy birthday to the people who celeberate it. I think this is such a petty thing. Once you avastha reaches a certain point u stop caring about birthdays however at this avastha u don't judge others for celeberating. You just give everyone love regardless of what they do. And through your example you inspire people to come to that level.
  11. I had tears in my eyes at the end of it. Don't know when guru ji will do kirpa and take some mahan seva from me. Def not worthy of it right now
  12. This is an intersting section. WHY DON'T ANY OF THE LINKS WORK. I REALLY WANNA READ THIS. can anyone who knows how to access this let me know
  13. Thanks singh this helps a lot. I never thought of the difference between bowing and salamee. I personally do give respect to the nishaan sahib. Thanks to the other post about my other questions. I guess it goes back to my personal belief of not judgin anyone for any reason. And i guess we should leave it at that. Let people dow aht they believe is right. And let us lead by example. Thank you to everyone who took time out to reply.

In response to the Kirpan, here's what the Canadian public has to say. What a Multicultural and accepting place! The fact that Balpreet Singh is born and raised in Canada makes no difference and newspapers like the Ottawa Citizen allow comments like this to appear: Name: Citizen A Email: ashamed to be Canadian Occupation: Accountant Location: Canada (World's dumping ground) For God's sake. When are we going to put an end to this and start putting these people in their place? They don't like it here than leave. In this country, accurding to our laws and custums, carring a wepon is a crime and something that is considered intollerable. Yes there are Canadain custums and traditions, but we know little about them, because we allow immagrents and refugees to come here and do as they please. When in Rome do as the Romans do. Every other nation protects their customs, traditions and laws exept Canada. If Shikes are allowed to carry weapons, then I should be allowed to carry a weapon as well. As matter of fact we should be allowed or not allowed to carry weapons. One nation = one set of laws. If I got into fight with one of them, I would use a weapon, because they have one, period Name: Jon Citizen Email: n/a Occupation: Observer Location: North America If you move to a different country that is mostly Judeo-Christian and you come from the Middle East or India you must accept that our culture and beliefs do not support transporting a sabre or sword on our person (i.e. body). While Canada has been spared terrorist activities (so far) most travelers on a train or plane live in places where terrorism is a constant threat. I am always amazed that the first thing that many of these people from radically different cultures from ours learn is how to scream discrimination and how to file a lawsuit. Name: Modeno Occupation: Retired Location: St-Laurent Why oh why does it have to be us Canadians who have to kneel when faced with some kind religion? Now as far as I know, Via rail is Canadian, so why should they try to do something regarding someone getting on the train with a dagger strung around the belt? My God! when are we going to wake up and put our pants on and tell these people that if they want to live in Canada, they will have to abide by the laws of the land. Religion was invented by men, so don't tell me that God Almighty told them to wear a dagger at all time! I really wonder what would happen if we tried to do the same things in their country? We would most probably get shot on the spot! Name: Sean P. Hogan Occupation: public servant Location: Ottawa Just another example of how the immigrants in this country are trying to shove their beliefs down our throats. If you have to wear a dagger as part of your religion, it doesn't say much for the religion. At the same time, they don't care about the safety of passengers, just themselves, so selfish and so uncaring. If you cannot abide by these rules, there are plenty of medieval middle east countries who can accomodate you. MY EMAIL ...................................................................................................................................... I was appalled when I came across this on an internet forum. For a Newspaper to allow such hate filled remarks based on prejudices is sickening. This so called “unbiased” journalism is contributing the degradation of our society. Every person who is or has been a victim of a hate crime, whether you be muslim, sikh, Christian, or whatever else can blame it partially on these types of newspapers. Freedom of speech is fine, but to allow comments that you know will lead to tensions betweens communities is unacceptable. It is fine if you want these types of messages on your newspaper if you allow people who are knowledgeable in sikhisim to reply back. What is sad to say is that people who allow this kind of hate to be spread usually do it because they feel the same way. On a side note maybe you want to tell these educated people who have made these comments that it is not even your country to start with. On what bases are you people saying that “these people come to our county”. What makes this more your country then someone who was born and raised here (Which Balpreet Singh is). So maybe “you people” need pick up a text book and realize that the native people were here way before you guys showed up. Maybe you need to take the core lessons of Sikhism and apply them to your lives. Sikhsim is a faith that follows Guru Granth Sahib ji which on many occasions states the equality of people as god's children. The Kirpan is not a dagger, it is a symbol for truth and justice that a sikh who has been baptized is required to wear. Not for intimidation purposes but to be reminded of their great heritage. To help Sikhs remind themselves to always help the oppressed. Before a Gursikh starts his or her day he/she is required to wake up early and meditate on the name of God. A Sikh is to reflect on the greatness of God and God’s creation. At the end of each prayer session of a Gursikh the words he is required to utter are “Nanak Naam Chardi Kalla, Terai Bhanai Sarbatt da Bhalla” Guru Nanak Dev Ji the first Guru of the Sikhs is asking God to bless humanity. Not just Sikhs, but every single human being regardless of caste, creed or color. A Sikh is required to keep a strict code of conduct which promotes love, equality and justice. Sikhism is a faith that believe love to be the its core principle in every aspect of life. Here are some quotes from our Gurus. "JIN PREM KIYO TIN HE PRABH PAYO" Guru Gobind Singh Ji. (Only those who love will be able to reach God". Manas ki jaat sabhay Ekhai Pashanbo. Guru Gobind Singh Ji (Reconize all humanity as One). Äval Allah Noor Opaiya Kudrat Kay Sabh Bandhae, Aik Noor Thae Sabh Jag Opaiya Kaun Bhalae Kaun Mandhae.” Bhagat Kabir Jee (First, Allah created the Light; then, by his creative power. He made all mortal beings. From the one light the whole world welled up, so who is good and who is bad). Also Sikhsim is the only non-denominational writing in history. Not only did the sikh Gurus write this scripture but they put in writings from people of other faiths. They did 'not discriminate based on religion they included writing based on the higher truth of spirituality. I want to let you people know that I am a Sikh youth who has limited knowledge of Sikhism. But I am in the process of letting others more learned Sikhs know about this issue and they will be writing to you soon. You people being the voice for the people have a duty to inform people not contribute to hatred.. Please understand what I have said in this emai,l because if action is not taken to rectify this situation we will hold peaceful protests, flood you with emails and boycott your News Papers. P.S I am a BORN AND RAISED CANADIAN and DAMN PROUD. PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS ASAP!!! I BELIEVE THE EMAIL IS sanderson@thecitizen.canwest.com HERE ARE SOME RESPONSE EMAILS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE THESE AS SAMPLES IF YOU WANT. ..................................................................................................................... To Whom It May Concern: I am all for free speech, and feel very passionately about this, however what your readers are letting on in the free flow of dribble is simply that they have mastered the art of stereotypes. Congratulations. I think we should learn to be better critical thinkers and not be so heated and steamed when it comes to people who are different from what we know to be "normal". Funny thing is its usually our mirror image that we define as normal, and try to fit everyone in that carbon copy mold. Hmmmmmm a bit premature in the mind are we, ehhhh, a tad bit underdeveloped?! Well the moral of the story goes: what we do not know about scares us, and that seems precisely to be what is happening here. What ever happened to tolerance? Hmmm….. someone referred to living in a Judo Christian nation and that outsiders should learn to deal with the mere violation of human rights (OPPRESSION of religious rights) here and there... however they failed to think, would Jesus have wanted me to write such a hate filled email overflowing with a lack of compaction and care for my fellow man, my fellow neighbor, my fellow tax payer (if that makes more sense for this non-Christian-Christian...hmmm is that a word?). Come on PEOPLE lets learn to tolerate each other and grow as a human race and not regulate people’s way of life if it is justifiable and righteous. We do not live in a communist state, nor do we live under a fascist ideology, so my BIG question is, where did all these fascist ideologs come from and how do we come together as a greater human race to stop them? ....................................................................................................................... HERE IS ANOTHER ONE In reference to the below . . . I am a white christian born in Canada and I have to say this falls just short of Hate-Media. We should be ashamed to even be letting such trailer trash garbage go to print. These people obviously know nothing about Sikhism because if they did they'd have nothing to say. My good friend is a devout Sikh and always shows the utmost respect for Jesus and my religion. . . . If only we could be as unconditionally loving, peaceful and respectful as the Sikhs . . Instead of glorifying these ignorant people's hate, why don't you do something about it and educate people for the better. PLEASE COPY PASTE THIS POST TO AS MANY SIKHS OR SIKH SYMPATHIZERS AS YOU CAN.

  18. Please can we refrain from one word lines and can i get some informative feedback. I was reading some comments on another thread about bowing to some pictures and what not when i came across on post that talked about not bowing to the pictures or nishaan sahabs. Got me thinking.. Is it right? I'm double minded on this topic. I would like to the sangats views. Please can you back up your statements with thought out arguments. On one hand we are only supposed to bow to the supreme Guru (GURBANI). But on the other hand i think if people are showing respect to the nishaan sahab, depending on why they are doing, it might be justified. Heres what i mean. Say when someone gazes upon the nishan sahib but they don't just see a flag, which sad to say most of us do. No they see the sacrifces of all the shaheeds for us to have these nishaan sahib flying all over the world. They see the respect for Guru ji through these nishaan sahabs. They say the spilt blood of gursikhs for us to have these nishaan sahibs flying high across the globe. And with all these thoughts in mind he puts his hands together and puts his matha on the platform thanking guru ji with each swaas for letting him have darshan of this beautiful symbol of justice and religious freedom. A symbol where anyone and everyone can come under to eat without being looked down upon or turned away. A symbol where people flock to get knowledge of the enternal truth from the Guru. A symbol of many wonderful and awe inspiring things. What if these thoughts compell the person to bow down. Is it wrong? Ok second example what if someone just comes and sees others bowing to it so he does the same. Is this right? Probably not. Why is it wrong? Because he does not know why he is doing it. He is just following along with the crowd. Like the hindus giving water to the sun. Bowing only your body to something will ultimatly lead you astray. Bow your full mind body and soul to the truth will get you on your way to sach khand. So another question comes to mind what if you bow only your body to the ultimate truth (Gur Granth Sahib Ji). What if you just matha tekh cause everyone else is doing this? Is thie considered idol worship? You are bowing to truth eternal, however in your mind it is just a book, is this right or wrong? If it is wrong then what do u suggest people do, not bow when they come? If you believe it is ok to bow only with ur body to Guru ji (but it in your mind u don't believe that guru ji is present) then explain how it isn't idol worship? Sorry sangat ji for the long post. Its just when i get started i can't stop. Having said that, one last question. If the khanda was made in maharaja ranjit singh ji's time. What used to be on our nishaan sahib. And is it justified to have the khanda on our nishaan sahib now? I just want to let the sangat know i'm not trying to cause conterversy I actually want to know the views of the sangats on these questions. so let me summerize. What if these thoughts compel the person to bow down. Is it wrong? What if you just matha tekh cause everyone else is doing this? Is thie considered idol worship? If it is wrong then what do u suggest people do, not bow when they come? If you believe it is ok to bow only with ur body to Guru ji (but it in your mind u don't believe that guru ji is present) then explain how it isn't idol worship? If the khanda was made in maharaja ranjit singh ji's time. What used to be on our nishaan sahib. And is it justified to have the khanda on our nishaan sahib now?
  19. Guru pyari khalsa ji How do i do my part to help with the pakistan earth quake. I asked guru ji to bless me with some seva to help the people who are suffering. But i don't know how. So right away i thought about sikhsangat and realized that you guys can help me find a way to help. I would like to know how do i get in contact with someone reliable who i can give donations too. I am williing to with gurus apaar kirpa start up a relief fund at the local gurdwara. The youth here are always willing to help out they just need a way to do it. So i'm asking if this were to happen who would we give the donations too and how do we know we can trust that source. I'm just mentioning this because of all the corruption that goes on in india and pakistan i do not want to be giving away sangats money to the wrong ppl. Please let me know. Message me with details.

  22. Please forgive me for my ignorance. Can anyone tell me why mala's are supposed to be 108. What is the significance?
  23. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh I heard this sakhi as well but the sakhi i heard has a bit more to it. The person told me that when guru ji came out of smadhi he asked how many times did i say tuhi. And the gursikh after counting told guru ji 14,000 (not sure if its 14 or 13 or another number) times. Guru ji then said that just write it it down 14 times (or whatever it was in the thousands) and whoever reads this will get the phul of saying it 14,000 times. I can't recall if it is 14 or another number. Whatever is written in akal ustant times by 1000. I was wondering if any gurmukh can varify this?
  24. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh. Guru pyari sadh sangat ji i had an interesting convo with a friend of mine. My friend is not really into sikhi but with guru ji's kirpa he is starting to listen to kirtan a bit. Anyways he put some bhangra on and i walked away, he asked me why do i not like bhangra. I explained to him the lyrics and a lot of the culture promote alcholism, caste system, fighting and other negative things. I told him the mind is filthy enough as it is without the help of these lyrics, and with guru jis kirpa i only listen to kirtan. He asked me about dancing. I told him i think its a waste of time and totally ridiculous to dance to these types of song. He then asked what about dancing to a positive bhangra song. Example "Kaho peeo ashk karo mitro." i said it still a waste becase a gursikh doesn't believe his life is to eat drink and be marry. A gursikh beleves in a disciplined life of seva and simran. He then asked how about dancing in general? I was like yeah its a waste because it doesn't get you towards the allmighty. Then he asked well you love basketball whats the difference.? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I answered that playing ball is different because it is somewhat a simulation of a battle. You try to best you opponents through team work, and it also builds character somewhat. For example, When your down by a lot of points and you take it upon yourself to come back and win. I mean that doese take some confidence. Anyways i don't know if my answer satisfied him. WHAT I would like to ask the sangat is what is the difference between sports and bhangra? And if there is no difference then is doing sports wrong? A waste of energy, like dancing? I love playing ball it keeps me in shape and i like the challenge of it, also i try (some of the time) to do simran while playing. Can i get some constructive answers.
