  1. please do ardaas for the children who died and were injured... Waheguru http://www.sikhsiyasat.net/2013/03/04/tragic-collusion-between-a-akal-academy-school-bus-and-truck-near-jalandhar-11-children-reported-dead/ Tragic collusion between an Akal Academy School Bus and Truck near Jalandhar; 12 children reported dead By PARMJIT SINGH Published: March 4, 2013 Related Jalandhar, Punjab (March 04, 2013): The week at Jalandhar in Punjab has started with a tragic news. A collusion has reportedly took place between a school bus and a truck, that has reportedly resulted in death of 13 persons, including 12 children. According to reports school bus driver has also died in the accident. “Seven students died on the spot, four died in hospital. The driver of the bus also died… The accident happened around 8 am,” said Rajinder Singh, Superintendent of Police (Rural). According to reports some of the injured have been admitted to Nakodar civil hospital. Two of them could be shifted to a hospital in Ludhiana. The mini-bus carrying children from Akal Academy School in Boparai Kalan collided with the truck near Jaheera village in Lambhra, close to Nakodar, 17 km from here. According to reports, the truck laden with bricks, which was being driven on the wrong side of the road, lost control and collided head-on with the mini-bus. An FIR has been registered against the truck driver, who has been absconding since the accident took place at around 8 am on a highway near Jalandhar when the bus was on its way to school. Most of the children were under 10 and had boarded the bus just minutes before the accident took place. Around 30 children were stated to be travelling in the bus when the truck collided with it.
  2. I'm just shocked at the lack of martial arts aptitude in our young Singhs. That video of the rolled up magazine is such a joke. Its unbelievable that anyone would post this video as an example of effective technique let alone an Amritdhari Singh. Singho wake up and learn some real combat. Its our duty to train real effective martial arts that work in real time fast situations. Best way to do get good at this is to practice real time fast sparring.
  3. Hey guys thank you for the posts. I have heard Australia is a beautiful country thats why we want to come check it out. We don't mind coming anytime, however it is just better for us when we visit a place when there is spiritual program happening. Thanks again guys.
  4. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh I was wondering if anyone could please PM and let me know when the next Akj smagam or Sikhi related even is in Australia? Me and my wife wanted to make a trip down there because we have always wanted to visit. However after traveling a lot we have realized that although it is enjoyable to see new places it is much better when you go for Gurus Karaj. So we want to see Australia however we want to go when there is a major program going on so we can also get the russ of the kirtan and darshan of Sangat. I know there is a smagam Sept 26th-Oct 3rd however this is to short of a notice. We kept checking AKJ.org hoping they would put up a notice about a november or possibly December program however it was not meant to be. I know on the poster it says annual smagam, so this may be the last one for the year, but I thought I would take a chance and ask on here anyways. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it. We are hoping for something in November or even better would be December. I know its a long shot but I thought I would ask. Please feel free to PM me or reply to this message if you have any info. Thank you
  5. I train. Not to professionally fight but to acquire new skills and build up the ones I already have. I'm pretty new. I'm thinking of opening up a gym in the back of my office building for singhs to train. Hire some people I train with to teach and keep it non-profit. The place I train at is the real deal. My good friend and mma mentor is on the Ultimate Fighter right now. Nick Ring Calgary Alberta. I may not do the non profit gym as I have less and less time on my hands the more I dedicate to work, sikhi and my own training. I assume the topic starter trains. If so where and for how long. As for the person above me who loves wwe and tna, thats not even close to mma. But i'm sure u al and were just joking around. More people need to train. Its a sad day when a self appointed" Guru ki ladli fauj, sava lakh soldier" can't even defend a take down.
  6. Does anyone know if I can watch this on T.V in Canada. I need to see this singh fight..
  7. Wow theres a lot of pages i'm on 13 I will read the rest later but one of the replies reminded me of a few incidents. First you have to understand i'm six foot five and not skinny I have a pretty wide frame. Plus I love martial arts and UFC. So maybe I carry this orah around me. Growing up in a gora blue collar neighborhood I used to face a lot of racism when I was very young like elementry school and what not. So i ended up having this hard exterior growing up. However after experiencing sikhi through pyaar i have opened my heart to being more about pyar. But without knowing it I guess I can still be very intmidating. Anyways my experience has happend like three or four times where I've caught it probably happened more. While I was walking in a grocery store you have to understand I absolutly love kids. Anyways I see this cutest little kid doing sharata not listening to his mom and i'm in my mode of "man i gotta pick up some groceries" which i hate doing,, i'm not really smiling which makes a big differences singho if you smile the world smiles with you. Anywyas this kid sees me grabs his moms arm and says mommy that guys bigger than daddy with wide eyes. It was so cute. The mom was like yeah and if you don't behave i'm gonna tell him on you. I heard all this All I could do was laugh. Once i was going to a smagam or some function from calgary to vancouver. And I was wearing bana cause I knew I wasn't gonna have time to change off the plane its like an hour flight. The flight I was on was actually a stopover from an american city going to van stopping in calgary or something like that. Because there were a lot of americans in line. Anyways as I was walking up to the line i could see the facial expression changing in each persons face hoping pleading I wasn't going to be on the plane. But sure enough I lined up and most of the gorays facial expressions dropped. I tried smiling to ease the situation but I don't think they were to eased by it. This was like not to long after the nine eleven attacks. Than when I get up to the desk my mom is talking for me cause I'm looking for my ticket. And the lady was like to my mom does he speak english if i need to ask him something. LOL.. My mom was CHOKED, I didn't really care, she was like he goes to university!!! Ha ha I was like mom chill i smiled i'm like yes I do its ok you can ask me whatever you want. Her response was very polite she was like i'm sorry I just assumed. I was likes its all good god bless you. When I said god bless you her face just lit up. Once on a plane again i was wearing bana I think I started wearing bana on planes just to see ppls reactions lol.. Anyways as I walk in the plane standing in the asle waiting to move fwd this little girl i notice who was jumpin gup and down sits in her seat grabs her moms arm puts her head on her shoulder and starts peeking out at me. It was so cute. I was smiling and the mom bechari was so embarrased she was smiling at me and she said "I don't know why shes scared of you." But I could tell the mom was a little uneasy. I was like its ok i think its the beard. LOL.. I just waved at the girl. The whole flight she kept peeking out through her seat at me. LOL. She was so cute. Once i was getting out of my car and the car beside me had the saddest little girl in the back seat she was probably four years old. Her mom was in the passenger seat yelling at her. I felt so bad for her as she looked up at me I smiled and gave her this huge wave and she started laughing and jumping up towards the window waving at me. Needless to say the mom wasn't very happy. It just goes to show you could be huge with a big dumalla and dara but still bring out ease and comfort in ppl instead of fear and discomfort. Its all about where your internal vibes are. If you are all about love and it radiates off you people feel that they can't help but feel it. I've noticed the days i'm feeling maharaj's presence is very different fromt he days i feel off or down. People react differently to you. If you just open yourself up to notice little things you will see a lot. Anyways I'm sure I have more if I remember I iwll post.
  8. I would like to make a donation, but there is so much corruption in india how do we know this is legit. I'm not saying its not i just want to be 100% sure before i donate my money
  9. This is pretty disturbing. Well not about khali. That guys a clown. But they were showing a clip in the beginning of the second video in a small section of about thirty to fifty ppl I counted at least fifteen of them had pugs on. What the heck is happening to our sikhi in india.
  10. Its funny that I stumbled across this because I just heard this katha. In the katha what jassa above is saying is true however the kathavachik states that banda singh never called himself guru. That was done after his passing. After that bhai mani singh had to come with the tatt khalsa and deal with the bandai khalsa whos leader at the time was claiming guruship. They did it in two ways. First by parchia writing fateh darshan on the bandai khalsa parchi which was there version of fateh. And writing Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh on the second parchi. When they put it in the soravar both settled to the bottom however after waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh parchi came to the top. After that the fake guru protested and they did a wrestling match between a big banda khalsa jiwan and a skinni khalsa jiwan singh. In which the khalsa singh won. After which the fake guru protested again but a khalsa singh at this point cut his head off with one stroke. But nowhere in the katha does he say that banda singh was the orchastrater of any of this as all this happened after he passed.
  11. With his hands shackled but no fear in his eyes Awaiting death his khalsa spirit begins to rise They tell him to convert, but to their dismay Bhai Taru Singhs faith is firm and does not sway “Fine don’t give up your faith, just give us your hair and we will spare you life” Bhai Taru Singh replies “you think I will bend under the threat of your knife” “Oh cruel people why are you so blind, why can’t you see” “My brothers have been shedding their blood for this faith long before me” “We are Guru Gobind Singh ji’s Sikhs, we are a different breed” “Do what you must so I can join my brothers as a Shaheed” “I will never give up my hair because it was gifted to me by the king of all kings” “I will endure any kind of tourture to stay true to my father Guru Gobind Singh” “So do your worst, entice me, threaten me, burn me, cut me or scalp me alive” “It makes no difference because I have taken the Amrit from the beloved five”
  12. Hey singh, I have an honest question for you? Are you being sarcastic? Cause if you are not I will have to disagree. Eye for an Eye will make the world go blind
  13. So philip your presence here is sending off some alarm bells. Thats just me I'm cautious like that especially when it comes to protecting youth from people who are trying to guide them astray. So many people have answered questions given you links. And you said you have read the info and learned. Please share with us exactly what you have learned in detail please. It will help enlighten all of us. Thanks and god bless
  14. WARNING: I know a guy here who collects shastars.. He really knws his stuff. He says that most of the stuff ppl are selling in india as puratan is fake.. He goes if u wanna buy puratan go with a guy who has contacts down there and really knows his stuff. They are ripping off singhs like crazy down there.
  15. Yeah krav maga is a crazy art from what i've seen. like the videos i posted above this guy is fast to the point and strong. Matheen do u know of any instructors in calgary canada? i'm wondering if u can ask you instructer if there is anyone here... i would lvoe to learn.. i don't care what art i learn i just want to dedicate myself to an art that is legit...i'm sick of shelling out my hard earned cash to these fake masters... I have that singh khich in me to learn the best most practicle dangerous art out there.. i'm willing to come down to u.k even for amonth or longer to learn shastar vidiya... even though my views are vastly different from them... i just wanna learn a proper art... anyways yeah krav is an art that is a hybrid of other forms of martial arts... so is mma and its pretty easy to tell that mma is effective. i don't think it matters if it isn't puratan as long as it works and the isreali army have been using this art effectively a in war zones for years and years, they hvae been adapting it as they go along.
  16. oh heres some more videos kung fu vs mma This one is tkd vs mma but there is a weight difference between the mma guy and the tkd fighter. I feel really bad for the tkd guy though hope he was ok TKD vs Muy tai TKD vs muy tai again this time no gloves but i think they had a rule no punches to the face still you can see how powerful and useful the muy tai kicks are compared to tkd kicks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEGE7tvgd3o&NR=1 Heres some KRAV MAGA techniques This guy is BAAD MAAN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-FgH5uPYu8...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C3XNDyVXRg...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TERblYO_o0o...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd7npft6xmk...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6hIOMLn8dE...feature=related ENJOY
  17. Nice i wish i could train in it. But i live here in canada. Where u from?
  18. There is a lot of fake martial artist masters out there so beware. What do you think is the most effective art and what do u think is the most ineffective for actual real street combat? One benti to sangat before you post please have some reasoning behind it. Why you think its the most effective, what are the reasons. Thanks. Also here are some fake martial artists doing there thing heres a video of so called master who probably charged his students god knows how much to learn from him, hes fighting an mma guy. Heres a guy who does the DEATH TOUCH.. one thousand points if you can spot the UFC fighter in this video
  19. Hey parwinder singh i didn't mean to disrespect you or you martial art bro. I mean five years is great dedication and i'm sure you are really good at it now. Respect to you that you as a singh are actually learning a martial art. You may have an instructer who actually wants the betterment of his students. All I'm saying is a lot of people are out there for your money so be careful. Yeah the wrist lock thing maybe true but i've just seen personally a second degree black belt who was the best student at a hapkido place which is known for its forty year experienced master get knocked out in a street fight by a street fighter. Who had no martial arts experience just a natural fighter. I still stand by krav maga and shastar vidiya as the martial arts to learn. Again muy thai, wrestling, jujitso and judo mixed in and you will be a killer. But again u have to find the right instructer. I mean having flashy kicks is not gonna help u if he goes for a siingle leg take down and u have no ground game. The mma dude is gonna end up in your mount punching your face in or having ur back choking u out. Trust me its the worst feeling in the world being chocked out knowing the guys not gonna stop even if u do tap. Actually perfect student MMA is mostly a mixture of boxing, muay tai kick boxing, brazillion jujitsu judo and wreslting. also gatka is only as effective as ur ustaad. If he knows proper shastar attacks and street effective combat techniques that awesome sign me up. If its what i learned don't bother doing it for effectiveness just do it for the big shows at nagar kirtans.

  21. Hey just thought I would add my two cents. Having done research via forums other martial artists and personal experience. I would have to say ninety percent of the martial arts places u will find are what ppl refer to as mcdojos. This means a dojo for the sole purpose of making money. They teach u b.s techniques that look and feel good in a dojo atmosphere but won't do anything in a real life situation and it takes years for u to advance. Why? because the longer u are there teh more money they make. These so called masters make maad money. So be careful. Wrist locks and all that, they may be effective however i don't see how if the guy has a crazy fast jab cross you gonna grab his wrist. And if he has a knife give me a break u know how hard it is to try to do those fruity moves when a guy is stabbing u super fast. Just look at some videos where ppl have been stabbed. No chance. Its all in what u are looking for. If you wanna street combat effective martial art then krav maga BUT beware most these trainers are just in it for the money now as well. But if u could find someoen to teach u the proper israeli fighting system u would be set. Muy thai is awesome for speed and conditioning also teaching u how to punch kick and take punches kicks mixed in with some judo wrestling jujitsu and proper krav maga u would be set. However like i said before hard to find. Don't get me started on the ineffectiveness of gatka. (no real penthra except mool penthra but its not stressed, no throws locks wrestling techniques, shastar techiques of how to actually use ur shastars to most optimum use) Shastar vidiya seems like a really good art. I may even come to u.k to learn it myself. Just my thoughts.
  22. Guru Fateh ji we praise God because praising him causes us to remember his greatness and when we remeber his greatness our love for him gets released within us and when that happens our souls find hapiness and we learn the truth praising God is not about ego or mukhti Guru Arjun Dev Ji taught us raj na chao mukhat na chao man preet charm kamalare i dont want kingdom or liberation my mind loves your lotus feet when we praise God we enjoy his love it is benificial to us waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh Thats a good answer. We praise the lord for ourselves no one else. Not for god because he needs no praise. How can we praise something and expect to effect it that when that thing is so far from our own comprehension. I like the above answer. very thoughtful. Waheguru
  23. I think paapi and some of you misunderstood the intent of the poster. While you answered defensively paapi "You think God wants us to sing their praise, so they feel good? Thats like saying, we drink water to eliminate thirst of the ocean. We should be singing praises for ourselves, not to "please" God." It was not meant by us to raise this question to say it is wrong or why do we do it. Thats fine we will blindly follow it because our beloved guru who sacrificed so much tells us to. The purpose is to find an answer that can be a fitting reply to an athiest. I have heard this question asked so many times by athiest and in general by people. So i told Ramneet Singh to post on sikhsangat to see if we could get some use out of this forum instead of it being used to bicker back and forth. So far m P kaurs answer is really fitting and she also has provided bani to back it up which is also good. Mann kaum layee qurban your answer was very well stated as well. Once again i'm glad we can open up such discussions. These types of questions need to be thought about and answered. So so far we have the answer is we praise god so we can take on similar qualities. If anyone else would like elaborate or offer even more insite please feel free. Thank you.
