  1. It is not YOUR hair, it is not YOUR head, it belongs to Guroo! Do you not think that mothers of children butchered by meer mannu loved them? Those children that were cut apart piece by piece and made into necklaces for the mothers to wear. Do you not think their mothers loved gazing at them, adorning them and loving them? Yes they did, but they realised that they belonged to Guroo and they were not theirs to keep. Even Guru Gobind Singh Ji sacrificed his chaar sahibzade for the sake of this panth and rehat. If you turn your back on Guru by doing this ku-karam (horrible, corrupt action), everything in your life will fall apart. What makes you so sure that this beauty of your hair that you take so much pride in will not be snatched from you? Imagine you take off your dastar and you get cancer so undergo chemo- not only will you be diseased and lost that hair that you take pride in but you will also have turned your back on Guru. How will you feel at that moment when you realise that you may as well have just kept your dastar on? Do not allow even one bit of fire into your house - just one spark can spread and cause your whole house to burn down. Similarily, if you allow one bit of maya into your jeevan, i.e. remove your dastar- do not think you can control maya. It will spread and make you compromise more and more. Don't think that your bani, keertan and amritvela will survive after doing such a thing. Before you know it you will have removed your hair. Be Alert! Guru Sahib's nadar (glance of grace) that is received from following rehat saves us from many dreadful affects of past karma such as illness, accidents, etc. These things may very well destroy the beautiful appearance that you are so obsessed with having. Do not put yourself at such risk by becoming a nigura by refusing Guru Sahib's rehat. Read the below from gurmatbibek.com: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bhai Jagtar Singh jee once said something along the lines that before punishing, Vaheguru takes away the gunns from the individual. So if you see yourself becoming weak in Rehit, Amritvela and Nitnem, become alert. Weakness in these areas is a sign of bad times coming. Kulbir Singh Also, be very wary of nadar upathi (below article is written by Bhai Kulbir Singh from gurmatbibek.com): ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Avoiding ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ at all cost The 16th pauri of Siri Asa kee Vaar strikes me all the time. In this pauri is a pankiti as follows: ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ ਜੇ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਾ ਘਾਹੁ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥ ਦਰਿ ਮੰਗਨਿ ਭਿਖ ਨ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥16॥ If Vaheguru does his glance ਉਪਠੀ i.e. if he glances at a king with the glance of displeasure, he can turn a king into a poor gardener. We hear Gurbani but we don’t really believe in what we hear. Gurbani in this pankiti tells how transient i.e. temporary this world and it’s possessions are. When a person is sitting on a position of power in this world, such person thinks as if this position is his forever. Such persons forget that before them, several have sat on such positions and after them countless will sit on this position. Why to be proud of such intangible worldly thing? Just during the last ten-fifteen years we have witnessed how kings were turned helpless. Take an example of Nawaz Sharif. I am just amazed to see how truth is really stranger than fiction when I see his life. In the 1990s, he was the uncrowned king of Pakistan. His business was flourishing and he along with his brother had become the richest persons of Pakistan. To add to his fortune, he became the prime minister of Pakistan and his brother Shahbaz Sharif was the chief minister of the largest province of Pakistan – Punjab. They were at the top of the world. Then with one stroke, Musharaf took over the reins of Pakistan, overthrew Nawaz Sharif and arrested him. It took 6 months to break Nawaz Sharif. At first he stayed adamant when he was imprisoned but at the end of 5 months, he was going crazy staying in isolation. The king of Pakistan was confined to a small room in jail. He was reduced to a mere prisoner. He agreed to the terms of Musharaf and was exiled out of Pakistan. But look at the will of Vaheguru, he became a king coming from a humble background and then was reduced to a mere prisoner and exiled but recently has returned to Pakistan with much pomp and show. He returned and became responsible for overturning Musharaf. Today he is rising to the level of glory he had seen earlier. If you look at this, you realize how temporary and transient the worldly possessions are. You also realize how strong Vaheguru is. In a moment he can make a beggar a king and a king a beggar. Take an example of Saddam Hussien. What a life he had. He rose from humble background and became an absolute monarch of Iraq. He was ruthless to Shias and Kurds and committed many atrocities. His sons, especially Udey was not only a spoiled kid but an atrocious criminal. It’s said that he assaulted numerous women when he could. Later he was confined to wheelchair as a result of an attempt to take his life. Saddam was overthrown by the Americans and when he was discovered hiding in a bunker, he was beyond recognition. No one could say that this was the royal Saddam the world had known. He was extremely untidy and had a very dishevelled look. But he kept his self respect and did not bow before his captives. Then we saw his proud end. The way he faced death would put many so called brave people to shame. The thing I have been thinking is ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ. We should fear ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ. We should do such karma that we may never have to experience and face ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ. So long as Vaheguru jee keeps his gaze of grace on us, we don’t realize how fortunate we are. We only realize what we have lost when we have to face ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ. When this ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ occurs, then it’s very hard to turn this ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ into ਵਡ ਕਟਾਖ. So Bhai, one who forgets ਖੌਫੇ ਖੁਦਾ when in ਤੈਸ਼ and forgets ਯਾਦੇ ਖੁਦਾ when in ਐਸ਼, surely is inviting ਨਦਰਿ ਉਪਠੀ. Siri Guru Nanak Dev jee after the attack of Babur on India, wrote a very beautiful pankiti of Gurbani: 5॥ Please take note of the first pankiti. It states that if we remember Vaheguru in advance, then why would we suffer punishment in his hands. So taking lead from this pankiti, may we engage in ਯਾਦੇ ਖੁਦਾ and always keep ਖੌਫੇ ਖੁਦਾ and this way avoid ਸਜਾਇ (punishment) Kulbir Singh
  2. This must not be allowed to go ahead. This is a direct contradiction to akal takht rules. See attached invitation that someone messaged me. Friday 1st may at 9:30 am
  3. Caution: Some inappropriate scenes. They were talking about this movie on bbc breakfast and I saw a turban wearing man on the poster so I decided to google it. I found this trailer. It seems to be presenting the very bottom end of our community. At work he is shown to be rather slimy. The most shocking thing is that the 'sikh' character in this film (who trims his dhari) is sometimes shown with a dastar, then a hat and finally completely bald! Lots of scenes showing 'sikhs' doing silly things like drinking. Like I said, it shows the very bottom end of our community. What a shame that possibly the first movie to have a turbanned punjabi character in the main role is such a negative one. Thoughts? http://www.theguardian.com/film/video/2015/feb/10/amar-akbar-tony-meera-syal-trailer-video
  4. http://destroyed.wakavision.com/cheating-girlfriends-room-destroyed-by-her-boyfriend-as-she-begs-for-forgiveness- Caution- video has some strong language and unpleasant scenes. The information given for this video is that a boyfriend takes revenge on his girlfriend for cheating on him. You can distinctly see a picture of darbar sahib (golden temple) on the girl's wall. The boy however seems to look like a muslim (facial appearance) though it did look like at one point he may have been wearing a kara (the scene where he is pouring the bottle), though even if he is wearing a kara he still may be a muslim - he really looks and talks like one. Yes it was wrong of the girl to date, and to date a muslim. But IF this man is a muslim it is still abuse - I doubt that he would do the same if his girlfriend was muslim.
  5. This rumalla sahib which has ik oankar and mool mantar on it is being sold as a table cloth! This is really disrespectful I'm not sure if the seller realises what this means. They are probably not meaning to offend but I'm not very familiar with ebay so how can we stop the beadbi? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SIKH-EASTERN-WALL-HANGING-TABLECLOTH-GOLD-TONE-SQUARE-/131384727451?pt=UK_Home_HomeDecor_WallHangings&hash=item1e9723d79b

  7. What is the purpose of doing it? Are there different types of Sikhs? who decides who is a sant and not? Chaur Sahib is done over Guru Granth Sahib Jee to show that he is the true king, by doing a chaur it really gives the impresion that sant mahapurakhs" have the same status as Guru Sahib. what next? chandoa? takht? Personally I am very offended at seeing a chaur done anywhere but over Guru Sahib. Also, there wpuld be uproar if this was done over a living person, yet somehow because its a body its now ok? even this makes no sense as Gurbani tells us a body might as well be eaten by dogs after the jjot has left it. Seems abit OTT and not in line with Guru sahibs teaching to show this much reverence towards an empty corpse. I'm sure they could find a better way than to waste precious food in a world full of living people who are starving to create a nice smell. nit really a satisfying answer. Also, if that is the case what is the need to make a ritual out if it by getting all of the sangat to put the food on the dead body one by one? Also, why are you calling it parshad? I'm sure ordinary Sikhs cried but if Baba Surinder Singh is a brahmgyani as his followers call him I would think he would demonstrate Gurbani's hukam of not to cry at death. I believe accepting bhana means you dont get these false emotions in the first place as as a brahmgyani you would be in a state of anand all the time. Who is he blessing by posing for the photo like this, the world at large?should'nt blessing someone be a private and personal event? As an outsider it really gives the impression that he is presenting himself as some sort of higher authority capable of giving blessings by posing in this way. Just a thought. Thanks for your answers, though I'm still quite unsure about this organisation and individuals involved in it.
  8. I just had a few questions about, 'Akal Bunga' which I was hoping that the sangat could help me with. Firstly, I saw a video of the funeral of Baba Mani Singh, and I didn't really understand a few things i saw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2IGhLZ_WYQ 1. In the above video, the body of Baba Mani Singh has a chaur sahib being waved above it, and members of the Akal Bunga sangat seem to be covering the body in almonds and mishri. This includes the current head of the organisation Baba Surinder Singh also did the same so this act of placing food items onto the dead body seems to be sanctioned by the organisation. Watching the video you can see the body has been completely covered in sultanas, almonds and mishri. I found this quite odd. What use does a dead body have for food? Can someone please explain? 2.I was also surprised at Baba Surinder Singh, at about 10:40 in the video he seems to actually bow his head onto the body and start crying a lot. I thought we only bow our head to Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Also I thought in Sikhi we don't cry about people passing as it is bhana, especially spiritually advanced Brahmgyanis? He also seems to repeatedly lower his head to the dead body. I'm just wondering if that's part of Gursikhi? The sangat seem to be coming and bowing down as well. 3. Just wondering about the photo below, why is Baba Mani Singh's hand placed in the way it is? What is he saying by putting his hand up in that way for the camera?
  9. Does anyone know of any tailor that can make a bana (chola) in the uk? preferably london. thank you.
  10. Can anyone please recommend a pure vegetarian whey protein powder, should have no egg fish etc either.
  11. In the article linked below, it states that jagtar Singh hawara was married, then when he escaped from jail he married a lady by giving her a false identity, sahib Singh, and only later did this lady find out who he really is. As a result she filled for annulment. My questions are; Why did jagtar Singh hawara want to get married after breaking out of jail? What happened to his first wife? How is using a fake identity to get married justified? Why has no one condemned this action? I have always been with the panth when it comes to hawara but I'm very shocked to read this article. http://www.tribuneindia.com/2005/20051123/main4.htm
  12. I would like to ask if anyone has any stories about sant bhindranwale's bhagti and spiritual experiences that they had?
  13. Who is this bhai sahib? These vicharaan are really good!
  14. Someone sent me this, I agree with many of the points so I thought I'd pass it on. Time for a reality check To all Gursikhs and those who take the name of Guru Nanak Maharaj! Join the true movement today! This movement has no name, shape or form. Its only leader is Guru Sahib. We have an illusion of chardi kala within the panth. We are wearing dastars, we are wearing bana, we are reading nitnem, we are following rehat. We organise countless keertan darbars, samagams, rainsabai keertans. Yet our ego remains! Nay our ego grows! Read the next few questions. Be honest when you answer - you are only answering to yourself after all. These arise from widespread observations of the youth in general and on social media. it is apparent in every single type of gursikh and every single jathebandi/samprada/sant following group. Become a true warrior - by truly becoming the dust of everyone's feet. Put the sukh and happiness of other people before your own! In this way you will see all of your hankaar easily, so very easily shed away! Its the easiest way to become the perfect Gursikh. In putting everyone before your own self you will automatically have to let go of the things that you do just to help yourself. We all want to do parchaar. We all want to do keertan. We all want to sit on taabe so we can show off our perfect baana. Yet how many of us want to do joria di seva? How many of us want to clean the jhoot in langar? How many of us want to clean the toilets of the Gurdwara Sahib? I think the answers for many of us, myself included will be hard to swallow. 1. Do you dress up to impress others when you put on your bana and dastaar? 2. Do you hope to impress people when you do keertan? 3. Why is it that you post up pictures of yourself on social media? 4. Why is it that you feel the need to tell your friends list how amazing you found that keertan/katha/samagam? 5.Do you go to sangat because you want salvation or do you go to give yourself a sense of security from being in a group? 6. Do you go around trying to act the most hardcore? 7. Are you using rehat to give yourself some superiority over others? 8. Are you using company of elder/respected gursikhs to get some laha, or just to show off? 9. Should we be taking photos of keertan darbars to post on instagram or should we be concentrating on listening to the keertan? 10. Do we really care about the panth or are we just using it to big ourselves up? Ask yourselves these questions every day! Re-take up that challenge that Guru Sahib gave you when you took amrit: ਜਉ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਖੇਲਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥ If you desire to play this game of love with Me, ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਿ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਉ ॥ then step onto My Path with your head in hand. In a nutshell what Guru Sahib was saying was, "This ain't gonna be easy!". If you are finding this path easy, then you are doing something wrong! Remember- by acting in accordance with manmat, by using the panth for your own means - you are causing very big damage to the panth! Please share with others if you agree and want to see change in the panth! Author: Dardi
  15. Someone sent me this Gurfateh jee! Keertan Darbar Tonight for New Years Eve 7pm-12am @ Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Cross Road, Coventry, CV6 5GR. 16. has anyone had any personal experiences with baba ji or have any stories to share about them? I would also like to know if anyone has been to dhakki sahib and what it is like there?
  17. I'm glad you mentioned that one as that is one I was thinking of getting. Its good to hear from someone who has it.
  18. I would like to buy a sound system from which i can play keertan in the house from my ipad or macbook... any suggestions? i mainly listen to akj keertan but sometimes raag aswell. what would give me the best sound?
  19. Thanks for your replies guys. Just one thing I would like to say is that Dasvandh is not just giving to charity, it is a particular use of money for furthering the Khalsa Panth. So its use should be on the Khalsa Panth itself. So while I would definitely agree with giving money to Khalsa Aid which is a very admirable organisation, this should be done on top of one's dasvandh as the money is not being used purely on the panth but to help others (which is also a MUST for the Khalsa).
  20. thank you veerji, how can one give their dasvandh to these projects? Also remembered; Sukrit trust- education and career help for sikhs
  21. Can we please make a list of organisations/people/places we can send our dasvandh to with a little description of each cause. To begin; SOPW- welfare of sikh innocent and freedom fighter prisoners, legal fees, welfare of sikh families of prisoners, education of children from shaheed parivars. United Sikhs - legal representation of Sikhs among other things local Gurdwara Sahib- keertan, katha, langar etc.
  22. I have recently started going to the gym to gain some muscle. I have noticed that rather than finding it difficult to actually lift weights because they are too heavy, my problem is I become very fatigued over all very quickly (lack of stamina). I think it may partly be due to a VERY unhealthy diet. Could anyone please advise a simple diet plan which would provide me with enough energy needed for training? If you could incorporate punjabi foods into that that would be really nice of you . Obviously purely vegetarian.
  23. Its manmat and just shows a desperation to please goray. Also its common knowledge that pardeep 'singh', the founder of the site is a patit who broke his amrit by shaving off his dhari a matter of months after taking amrit, and then getting with a gujrati girlfriend. What seva can a patit do for the panth?
  24. hey bhai, eh angreja da syllabus sulabus chadoo, pyare vale gursikha banao - pyar naal baitho ikathar ho ke, naam japo, guru dian pyaree gallan karo, guru bare socho, ucha sucha jeevan bare socho. keertan karo, naam japoh, bani aapi karegee sabh kuch. bas pyar paida karo.
