  1. I have seen many Mona Sikhs who are very pro Sikhi and panthic at heart, those types of brothers certainly deserve votes. Main thing is to vote for the person who best deserves the vote. Who will stand up for the Sikhs when Sikhs need them. Uncle Tom types who try to hide their Sikh heritage as if it is an embarrassment to them need to be voted for. These types of coconuts only remember their Sikh heritage when it is election time and come to the Gurdwara to show how Desi they are. Take this Uncle Tom Ricky Gill here, he mentions his Indian and African heritage yet hides his Sikh heritage. Does he deserve Sikh votes? Vote for the Gorah opposite to him instead and show this uncle Tom what Sikhs think of him. Same thing with Nicky Haley. When she needs money from the Sikh community she adds Aulakh to her name to show her Punjabi Sikh background but conveniently tries to hide her Sikh background in front of Goray every chance she gets, especially when she tries to show how strict she is in her Christian beliefs. Sikhs have plenty of such Uncle Toms in the west. They are opportunists (& crooks) and don't deserve Sikh votes or money.
  2. Thanks for this clarification. Why did Baba Balbir Singh have control over Baba Santa Singh Ji?
  3. Adding to the point of proactive jee, western born Nihangs very often say they don't recognize Akal Takhts authority because they claim that rightfully the Akal Takht belongs to them not the SGPC appointed Jathadar. Fine, but then why did Baba Santa Singh Ji seek khima to his Bhul at the same Akal Takht Jathadar who is appointed by the same SGPC that they don't recognize. Some statements by western Nihangs just don't add up.
  4. Yes, this topic has been discussed to death. It's better to close this now. Besides we don't want some gullible Sikh or non Sikh to read this and think taking drugs is okay in our religion.
  5. He seems like a coconut like nicky hailey. Sikhs in America need to ditch this guy. Don't waste your money and vote on someone who will not do anything for the community. Look at Canadian Sikh politicians. They always raise their voice for their community. That's the kind of politician you should donate to or vote for. Under normal circumstances I think Sikhs should always vote for a fellow Sikh. But if that fellow Sikh is trying to distance himself from his Sikh heritage and acting like an uncle Tom then it's better to vote and donate to the Gorah opposite to him.
  6. Veer Khalistani Gun Man Jee, you can try to justify marijuana any angle you like but it will still never be accepted in the Sikh faith. Nihangs claim they do it to uphold their warrior heritage. But that doesn't stand because in war you need to be alert. An alert sober warrior is always a better warrior than a drunken soldier. History is witness to this(Muslims vs Rajputs). Then you try something new when you then try to justify it spiritually by bringing in the Naqshbandhis. This again doesn't stand. The Naqshbandis are the most strict sharia wise (rehetvaan) of all the Sufi orders. If some amongst them have now become deviants by consuming Bhang than that is not an example for us to follow, even the true Naqshbandis will consider such people as deviants. We Sikhs follow the example of Bhagat Kabir Jee, Bhagat Naam Dev Jee, Dhru and Prahlaad Jee who were intoxicated by Naam Simran rather than some plant. In spirituality you need to be alert so you can focus on the object of your meditation. A drunkard can't focus in meditation. Ask any Sant Mahapursh and he will confirm this. When one becomes a Saadhak under the guidance of an experienced Mahapursh or Gursikh, the first thing the Mahapursh says is to stop taking drugs or anything that will make you drunk and thus lose focus in meditation. If one wants to succeed in meditation it is wise for one to follow the sloks of Bhagat Kabir Jee who has written of obstacles in the form of certain foods which can hinder one's spiritual progress.
  7. Very true. Although we have our differences with the Hindus, Buddhism, Jains but they are much better than the Abrahamic faiths. The amount of death, destruction and suffering caused by the Abrahamic faiths is huge. A Sikh who is knowledgeable in Sikhi and has done comparative study of other religions can never loose a debate. The Sikh Dharm is a flawless faith.
  8. here is their website http://www.gurunanakhealing.com/ They must have some contact into on their site.
  9. Contact the nearest branch Sarb Rog ka Aukhad Naam. I have heard so much about them and how they teach you to use the power of Bani and Naam to heal your physical ailments.
  10. Khalistani bro just a few months ago you were the most anti 3ho guy on this forum. wow, you have really gone through a tremendous change.
  11. Vaheguru. This is just so sad. A small innocent girl suffering mentally and physically during her last moments. Can't even imagine the pain she went through. No use blaming the usual suspects (the Brahmins and the Muslims) for this. Oh yes, beleive it or not but we are dumb' enough to actually do something like this without any outside help. Until we look inwards instead of pointing the finger of blame on others we cannot get rid of these social problems. Our Gurus left us a beautiful and simple path but we have abandoned it and instead allow innovations and deviations to mix in with our faith. The only way is to come back to the roots of Sikhi. Take Amrit, become rehetvaan, do Naam Simran and Gurbani Paath and abandon non Sikh practices. This is what our true goal in life is because ਅਵਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥
  12. I know exactly what you mean. half of my family are communists and they are some of the most anti Sikh people I know. Sadly when these communists do turn religious, they then become Kala Afghanis which is even worse because then they look and speak like religious Sikhs but from the inside they are still pure atheists. They don't change their communistic mindset.
  13. The Sikhs have canonical writing such as SGGSJ, Sri Dasam Granth, Bhai Gurdas Jee's writings, Bhai Nand Lal Jee's writings. These granths do not contradict each other and are universally regarded as canonical writings by the Sikh Panth. Then we have supporting documents such as Sooraj Prakash, Pracheen Panth parkash, Gur sobha, Janam Sakhis, Bhatt Vahis etc. These historic granths are a good source of history but they certainly are not regarded as being infallible like the canonical scripture of the Sikhs. If these historic granth contradict the canonical scriptures, such as their support for Bhang then it is safe to say in that case those historic granth are in error: for example in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee it says kbIr BWg mwCulI surw pwin jo jo pRwnI KWih ] qIrQ brq nym kIey qy sBY rswqil jWih ]233] Kabeer, those mortals who consume marijuana, fish and wine no matter what pilgrimages, fasts and rituals they follow, they will all go to hell. ||233|| Nothing is beyond Gurbani because Gurbani is infallible. It has come directly from Sachkhand. As for Sarbloh Granth. I am not sure about this Granth since I have not read much of it. Only parts of it. I would like to see where it supports Jhatka Maas or Bhang consumption and under what context it was written in.
  14. Seriously, so many things going on in the world, and a girl carrying a spear half way across the world makes news?
  15. I don't think Vedanti said it's not Gurbani, he disputed it with Maan over the context to which it was said. Vadanti at the time was under Badal's control and had to raise his voice against any independence slogans of the Sikhs. I could be wrong, but I think this Tukh is from Gyan Prabodh Bani. Maybe someone knowledgeable in Dasam Bani can comment.
  16. Yes, he should read puraatan Granths, but may I add to your point that he should also read it with the touchstone of Gurbani. Accept only that which is in accordance to Gurbani and filter out anything that contradicts Gurbani.
  17. This song is from Kuldip Manak`s very famous album about how Singhs took out Massa Rangar. It was recorded during the 80s and it`s songs were indirectly hinting towards the Kharkoo Singhs. It was one of the most memorable hits of Kuldip Manak. My father told me how he used to love listening to this album. Heck, even I like to listen to this album today.
  18. Not true. The Badals are not Paharias. The Badal family are Jatts originally hailing from the Amritsar District. Parkash Singh's father later migrated to Malwa in the Badal village where he bought a lot of land at a very cheap price.. As for the Patiala royal family, they have always stood with the invader against the Sikhs. But during the anglo Sikh wars, the average Sikh in the Malwa region stood with the Sikh kingdom. In fact the Khalsa army also consisted of a lot of Sikhs from the Malwa region. Example Baba Ram Singh Namdhari was originally from Ludhiana but like many Sikhs from Malwa he was a soldier in the Khalsa army. Their loyalties was with the Sikh kingdom. Unlike the Sikhs today, the Sikhs of puraatan times were not small minded to indulge in regionalism. And btw, I'm not from Malwa myself if anyone is wondering. So I am speaking from a neutral point of view.
  19. So many Sikhs live in Thailand, Malasia, Singhapore yet no translation in Thai, Malay or Chinese. We have Sikhs living in every state of India, we should have translations in all the local languages. So many Sikhs live in Dubai who have knowledge of Arabic, yet we don't have any translations in Arabic either. I don't know any of these languages but I wish I did. If one cannot translate all of SGGS I can understand, but atleast one who has knowledge of anyone of these languages should try to translate some Gurbani maybe starting off with Japji Sahib and then slowly the rest of the Nitnem and posting it on the internet. This is a great way to do Parchar of Gurbani and also seva.
  20. So good. This keertan is on another level.
  21. well the title of this thread has been changed now, but originally it said 'breaking news'
  22. This has already started. I know a western Nihang who claims that half of the casualties in operation blue star were Nihangs. 32 thousand nihangs is a HUGE over exaggeration. The Nihang army of Akali Phula Singh Jee never numbered more than 3000. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was apprehensive about their power and fearlessness which is why he would direct their uncontrollable aggressiveness towards fighting the Pathans. This not only provided M Ranjit Singh with a powerful source of manpower who fought with a fanatical religious zeal but also made sure that the Nihang numbers would be maintained (by getting Shaheed in war) instead of increasing to the point where they might be strong enough to challenge the Lahore Durbar. The high point of the Nihangs was during Akali Phula Singh Jee's time period. After Akali Jee got Shaheed the Nihang power and influence began to decline to the point where they were no longer a major player in Sikh politics by the 1st Anglo Sikh war.
