  1. What is the fuss about again ? Yes a statue of sri chand with some money infront, but I didn't see anyone waving a diva around it or anything. It was outside away from the 'Birh' Maybe he was an udassi and that explains the statue but what was wrong with that ? We should leave these guys alone and let them do what they do. They don't do anything anti-sikh and they don't cause any harm to sikhism. Remeber that Yogi Bhajan single handedly made over 100,000 white sikhs from scratch !! ALL amritdhari. There is not a single person that can make the same amount of already sehajdhari monai into amritdhari in that manner. These people have made the US and world aware of sikhs, I mean the president knowswhat sikhs are because of 3HO- so why the hell are we picking on them like kids. In reality our own punjabi sikhs that are anti-gurmat are everywhere in huge numbers ! How many sikhs do you see with some red thread or rakhree on walking about ? How many sikhs do you see with some vedic gemstone gold rings on which were obviously prescribed by some pandit ? WAKE UP AND STOP KICKING THE INNOCENT LOOK AT YOUR FELLOW PUNJABIS FIRST !!!
  2. Sorry, I didn't mean in this thread. I realise the statement looks confusing. But there has been many on other threads and the dear amrithdharies that have made the quotes should know who they are !!
  3. RIDICULOUS !!!! Exactly what did I say that was 'anti' ?? I have NOT denied the dasam granth in any way. There are banis that are part of our nitnem that are from the dasam granth, -why the hell would I deny this ? All I said was that you should listen to what dhunda says and make up your own mind instead of slandering without knowing the truth. I really couldn't care less if he is liked or hated, that is not going to make me more gurmat in any manner. On some of these posts I find some very anti-sehajdhari opinions that are offensive. These people do NOT encourage fellow sikhs to move forward and progress to amrit, infact they give the opposite impression with their ego-fuelled statements. Waheguru

  5. The only gurmantar I know is 'WAHEGURU' and that is what is in the rehat as you showed earlier, so why go back on the rehat ? If panj pyarey tell you to recite something else, is that what you go with instead of 'waheguru' ? I am NOT ridiculing anything. I am stating as it is, just like Dhunda may have been doing !! I said earlier that I agree with you that to me personally it means to do naam simran using 'Waheguru' mantar. However, I said that we shouldn't endorse our own interpretatons should we? Otherwise, it is our very EGO that is speaking. Simran is supposed to hammer down our egos and mine certainly has.
  6. Best just to hold hands and then have dinner in candlelight followed by a movie. If you don't feel it's kaam at any stage, then proceed and carry on. If not, then stop and think. The idea is to learn about each other as much as you can before getting intimate. Then you should just let it flow. I would say get to know each other over the space of a couple of months at least, before going all the way.
  7. Exactly what does this mean to everyone ? To me it means meditate using waheguru gurmantra. However because this article iv continues to give the list of nitnem, then to alot of others it means to say 'waheguru' for a few minutes or so- maybe while you have a shower !! It is NOT specific in this sense, therefore we cannot endorse our personal intepretations.- although I agree it tells 'me' to meditate like you mention. So, even though I agree with you, I can't demand others to interpret the same
  8. The biggest controversy is really the title of 'PROFESSOR' I think he doesn't realise that you have to study for years to attain this title and if your chelai call you that it doesn't mean you are!!
  9. Some good points West London Singh ji. The canadian youth are very different to the youth in UK by far. I am from UK and have been here for a few years now and you can't help noticing the differences. It's true that it's the old timers involved and also some of the fresh from Punjab youth which they don't call 'freshies' here but we call them 'dippers'- I'm not sure where it comes from!!!! Anyway, the 2nd and 3rd generation are way too gorafied and don't have much interest unlike the generations in UK. Canada is still very behind and is where UK punjabies were in the 70's since the majority are still 1st generation punjabis.
  10. :excited: OBAMA :excited: The campaigns have been real good. That Meet RohmNi did make it tough for Obama and came very close. I think Obama was the better choice for the future as it is now
  11. Recently the canadian revenue agency investigated the gurdwaras in BC because of the huge amount of cash allegedly going in to the khalistan movements. This investigation was quite laughable by most when they first heard of it because- -Nearly all the money involved is cash and this makes it so easy to make it disappear elsewhere and appear somewhere else on paper. - Hence, it is not very difficult to put a cover or veil on any amounts in aid of khalistan movements! I assume the comments from Harper could be as a result of this and similar investigations where they have found no solid proof. One only has to be in close liasions with beings involved in the financial sectors of certain gurdwaras to get some confirmation that financial aid does exist.
  12. I am aware that money goes purely in ths direction from a handful of gurdwaras in this area. Yeah of course this is not about the activists but all about India trying to play happy families with other countries. I have no interest in India's agenda as it has no interest for me. But I wanted to make clear that it is not all hush hush and we all love India when it comes to all the sikhs here. This is far from the truth.
  13. Who says that khalsa will rule the world ? Is that what it is all about, about who dominates and rules ? Some of you are going away from the messages in gurbani. If we can get the 'khalsa' to rule within each of us, then the whole battle is already won isn't it ? Start the real journey 'within' and then we can find our true selves and the true Lord.(start with simran) When the two of us can be in pure unison and harmony, the khalsa will already be ruling within us.
  14. What if you are physically unable to apply your body this way ?? Let's say you have arthrititic joints or inflamed and damaged back verterbae..etc.? Are you forever going to be doing manmatt and being a manmukh ??
  15. mmmmhhhhh!! ......I'm a little confused- as I thought it was Thursday that you don't wash your hair ! :stupidme: :stupidme: k Anyway, the more the karay or the bigger the kara, then the better the sikh you are. BOTH quantity and quality count!
  16. I don't know where Mr Harper is getting this information from!!!!!! So the comment in the title is absolute rubbish! The gurudwaras that support and provide financial aid for the khalistan movement are numerous!! In just the Vancouver BC area there are several gurdwaras that come under this category and I am personally aware that this is no joke.
  17. Does it matter what the person has touched as long as they have washed their hands before touching utensils etc..? I mean the person may well have gone to the toilet and would have to hold his ding ling in order to aim away from his legs or he may have washed his pet dog's privates before coming to the eaterie!!! It really doesn't matter does it as long as his hands have been washed after the act !!
  18. No, I'm not looking for anything in particular but I find it all very interesting and amazing. I mean only recently has quantum physics come up with theories that the WHOLE UNIVERSE, is made up of consciouseness and nothing else. Whereas Guru Arjan dev ji had already mentioned this importance in the shabads quoted earlier. I seem to think and get the impression that our conscious actually knows alot more than we imagine. A common example is that we all know that our dreams give us some hidden messages our help us to confront underlying charcter issues etc.. BUT no one really knows HOW this happens exactly!!! - I have began to firmly believe that it's our consciousness that is trying to tell us, but because we are so attached to mind and brain for ALL logic, we tend to ignore it. I also feel that deep simran and meditation helps each one of us to be more connected to the consciousness, which in effect is God-consciousness. This is achieved with the lord's grace and also the fact that we try and detach from the mind-brain thoughts for once. It really is a good primary start point to get reasons and explanations for many issues and questions we all have. What do you think ??

  20. After reading that and trying to absorb most of it, all I can say is WOW!! It makes a lot of sense if you can take it in and apply it in some manner to your own perceptions. Have similar explanations been previously discussed elsewhere ?? As I would like to learn as much as. Waheguru
  21. Those are some marvellous explanations N30SINGH ji !!! I have thought about these concepts and explanations quite a lot due to some certain personal experiences. You defined the soul and consciousness quite well, although I somehow concluded that it was more of the 'Consciousness' I think that the 'consciousness' does Not itslf live in 'time' as only our physical sareer does. Therefore this consciousness is ALWAYS in the 'NOW' and because of that and no concept of time, is one reason why we don't remember past or previous sareers.See the sareer now and here and our brain is what has memory. We are conditioned to know what we know ie. Knowledge, because we have memory in the brain which instructs the mind.- ALL part of the huge maya illusion . The consciousness is kind of detached away form the mind and brain or it wants to be away and is not influenced by those same memories. - Because the consciousness doesn't have these memories, like I said it lives in the NOW. BUT- a bi BUT, is that the consciousness KNOWS much more than we actually think. It doesn't know these things from acquired learning and memory like our sareer dos, but it JUST KNOWS about the Lord and the real Truth outside of the ILLUSION. It's all very very interesting once you get your head around it. Did you get then above info from some useful references OR is it your own conclusion from a mixture of different references. Waheguru
  22. It doesn't matter if it's connected or NOT. Even if it's a seperate annexe, it is still part of the Gurdwara and alcohol, dirty filthy dancing and meat is NOT allowed!!! I miss that Gurdwara as It was my first memories of childhood and now I live some 7,000 miles away in Vancouver. As a matter of interest, where about is this new extension in relation to the High street.
  23. I would just leave it and let it be. At the end of the day, why should we be judging and deciding what should be done. Her day will come, when these little petty thefts will be accounted for and have to be dealt with. It sounds like she's probably suffering some kind of anxiety or stress that results her to behave in such manner. When these kind of people come face to face with lawyers and similar personnel, they usually feel that they deserve that petty little money for one reason or the other. The usually feel it is justified for them to take it in that manner, especially if it is repeated often. I personally, wouldn't want to get involved, but it's also best to just stay out of the way of these people.
  24. The greed !!!!!!! The funny thing is that most of the gurdwaras here in North America are made with money from investors. They are built to make money and are just seen as income and business for most of these owners. They don't rely on grants or goverment money like UK gurdwaras.
