Not really. Khalistan is more a religious/sikh political movement. What exactly would Punjabis get outta of Khalistan that they wouldn't get in India?

Brother, I didn't divde us. It was your fellow brothers and sisters that don't want "monay" like me tie to Sikhi. They don't consider us Sikhs! So why would someone like me support these people and their cause for Khalistan? What exactly a guy like me get outta of Khalistan? Why should a mona such myself support Khalistan over India?

It is so easy to talk big online. How many of you are willing to take some real action? I simply can’t trust either parties (Amritdharis and Indian government) when comes to Punjab. I hope people in Punjab stand up against these two group of people if they dare to harm them.

It is already happening here in Toronto as well. People got to realize that it hard to maintain your culture living here in the west. If you're born and raised in the west, then you most likely follow and feel more closer to western culture more than Punjabi culture.

Let's put your argument to the test. Because there are a lot of Punjabi monay in British Columbia who do drugs, are in gangs, and are basically criminals. Therefore the Canadian government should withdraw all rights and privileges of citizenship from all the other monay in BC because a section of them can't handle having these rights? O rly? How many gurdwaras are run properly in this day and age? Not too many....If you ask me. British left India, they didn't get kicked out. And it is unfair to say sikhs were the only ones who took out Mughals and turks. Small hindu groups and British (mughal case) played a role in as well. 1. Punjabi is someone who origins belongs to Punjab. 2. Sikhs weren't the only ones who fought for Punjab. Non-sikhs also have defended Punjab in the past. (Example, muslim punjabis helping out sikhs during anglo-sikh battles). According to you, only amritdhari are sikhs. So this means people like Mahraja Ranjit Singh weren't sikhs, which proves my point about Sikhs weren't the only ones fighting/defending for Punjab in the past. 3. Expecting or assuming sikhs fighting for khalistan now is a pipe dream as well. Punjabis wouldn't fight for a sikh nation because they'll lose their political power. They got more freedom right now than they'll ever get in "khalistan".

LOL @ This thread. Singh is originally a hindu warrior caste name. There are more hindus with last name of Singh than Sikhs. So are you telling me that Hindus can't have singh in their name either?

For the love of god, if sikhs can barely run a gurdwara, then how in the world can they run a country? I don't want my motherland be run by bunch of pindus/hardline sikhs. Besides, how in the world are "sikhs" (amrithdhari) going to takeover Punjab from Punjabi community and Indian government? Why would Punjabis support Khalistan? It would be a dumb move for Punjabis to support Khalistan since they'll have no real power to run Punjab if it ever became a Sikh nation.

How important is this baby naming ceremony? I know couple of sikhs that haven't been through this ceremony before...So does this mean they're not sikhs? And yeah, sorry for hijacking this thread, but I am not too aware about this ceremony at all. Peace.

No offence, but sikhs in India aren't bright enough to gain that kind of power. Most of them are nothing but bunch of pindus looking a way to move to the west these days. I predict 10-15 years now, sikhs will become a minority in Punjab and lose all their influence/power in Indian society.

How do you apply for those sikh membership cards?

apna/apnai/apnay etc.. is a term used here in Canada to describe a fellow Punjabi. No one ties the term "apna" with sikhs. It is just a Punjabi thing regardless of religion.

Cool. There are couple of Punjabi hockey players in NHL. Thank you. I hate how people will pull out their "race card" on this issue. Racism isn't an issue in sports anymore. I think in the future we will see tons of Punjabi athletes since our community will be more settled in the west and more liberal minded that we will be okay with our kids playing sports instead of becoming doctors, lawyers etc... Hey, Canada is starting to produce decent apna footy players. Heck, our last U-16 national team had 5 apnay on them. One of them might end up in Glasgow Celtic academy according to his coach. who were the players i read this one article talking about two guys from vancouver being scouted by european teams ill find the article and post it. Post it if you can find it.
