  1. Wow... Damn bro, you should be our agony aunty ji. You have such good replies, I mean you really are a god-send. :D You were missed when you were getting married. When someone begins walking this path, they become a light for the rest of this dark, gloomy world. YOU are the one that is entrusted with the Guru's work. Your kesh and pagh is there to how people you are ready to help, to show that you won't hide in the crowd. Also, isn't it better to raise people to the status of a king, rather than the status of a beggar? Have you ever had a toy or made something that you really liked. It was your faivourite thing in the world. But your mum tries throwing it away. What do you do? You defend it so that it isn't thrown away and you keep it. It's the same as Sikhi. Sikhi is a rose, but people want to destroy it's beauty. How does this rose defend itself? With thorns. These thorns are our swords. We defend what is prescious to us, just like the rose tries to defend itself. But it's up to you as everyone else has said.
  2. If he did it for praise, then I don't know how attacking a defenceless 81 year old man would be seen as heroic. Probably just a violent, deluded, messed up individual who needs to be locked up.
  3. http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/story?section=news/local&id=9106665 It's a video. Don't know how to put it up here.
  4. Are there any good shabads that I can listen to while revising? Kirtan and clasical music work really well when revising.
  5. LOL. USA and Australia are one of most tolerant countries! Russia and Romania are 15-29%. This should be taken with a pinch of salt. We don't know how reliable these stats are. How did they do this survey? How many people did they ask? Where did they do the survey, in one place or all over the country? If they surveyed say 1,000 people in India, how is that representive of a country that has a billion+ people. Where did they go to in the USA? How about the middle of America? Of course the DM would get their hands on this. Also Russia is supposed to be so tolerant, "the director of the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights, Alexander Brod, stated that surveys show xenophobia and other racist expressions are prevalent in 50 percent of Russians". Same place where a football club can't buy non-white players because the fans don't want any.
  6. LOL. <banned word filter activated> get the cut to make it more "pleasurable".
  7. Most Gurdware limit salt and oil. Well, my local gurdwara does. I love mahan di daal and gaajran di sabji.
  8. Same peole who back down from supporting Sikh movies and making the Sikh youth aware of what happened to them. Same people who don't support poor Sikhs or shaeed parivaar and back down when the Badals or the government say "naughty naughty". What do they know about dharam?
  9. ਬਿਜਲੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਿੱਲੀ LOL.
  10. LOL. I have too much time on my hands.
  11. Lol I know. Only he spelt it as "mic". I spell mic as mick. Oh well. :D Most people saying "smash his nose" etc. Teachers ARE NOT sympathetic. Most are white middle class people. They haven't gone through the same things we have. Most will say "violence isn't the answer bla bla" and they will end up wrecking your conduct log and colleges and bosses for jobs can reject you. However, if someone takes your pagh off/attempts to then knock him out right there. Then they can't say anything. It happened to me.
  12. Well Singh, it's good you stood up for yourself. We all get the abuse, at the start I used to get angry and I had a fight. And you know what, I used to get in trouble. Just learn to ignore them. Just take it as a joke, you can't fight everyone in the world. Don't get so worked up about it. They're only saying things, you'll get yourself into a lot of trouble. You might not be able to get into college or get a job. Don't take it to heart. The dogs will keep barking, but what is that to the sher (lion). Just stop getting offended so easily. You carry a mic in your pagh?
  13. It's why I keep mine. Also, so many Singhs on registers etc. that it makes it a lot easier if I just use my surname.
  14. Everyone complaining and whinging, why don't you go there and offer your services? It is the panth's channel? Why not go offer your seva? Before people complained "omg, no Sikh T.V channels, look at all the Muslim channels". When we get it, this happens? Why not email them and give them some advice? Completely agree with you. They've done a lot of good. We wouldn't have any info on the Bhai Rajoana protest, oak creek etc. I think the benefits far outweigh the bad things. Yeah, the presenters aren't the best, but at least they give up their time to do programs, way more than I can do. I don't know about you but the elderly people can watch something on T.V, a family friend recently began keeping kesh because of the Sikh channel. Many other people I know have become aware of Sikh issues and have become more aware of their identity. This is a forum, if you have issues, why not go talk to the Sikh channel?
  15. Wow, are all Punjabi parents the same?
  16. Was this that Mughal Dabar thing talk that was going to happen? Because I missed it, couldn't get to the gurdwara. Thanks for the link.
  17. So you hate ISLAM, not Muslims. So you just automatically hate a muslim just because they are Muslim. It's like me saying "I hate Hindus becuase they killed many Sikhs, I hate them because of Gangu". You shouldn't hate people just becuase they follow Islam. I have met quite friendly muslims, infact this one boy is more dharmi than a lot of Sikhs (me included). He never swears, never gossips about anyone, doesn't <banned word filter activated> and whine, a very polite boy. Should people be held accountable for what their ancestors did? Just say me ancestor (my great great grandad) was a mass murderer who killed all non-Sikhs. Now, should I also be held accountable for this? Should all white people be hated on by blacks becuase their ancestors had black slaves? I'm not doubting your prem or sharda to your guru. You are way way way more committed than me to waheguru sis. I'm just saying that "bande nu banda vangar samaj". Just look at all humans as humans regardless of colour, religion, nose shape, eye shape and all these other labels. After all are we not all a piece of God?
  18. I think we should take care of the old havelis and smadhs as it is a very large piece of our history. A time when we didn't have to live in fear and beg other people to take care of us. Like chatanga veer said, they are a link to our past. However I do agree with you on this. Time and time again people appeal to help educate a student in Punjab. I think we should first take care of the people. I mean there a many thousands of poor Sikh families who lost everything they had in 1984 and the freedom struggle after. How many people go to help them? I posted a documentry on the Sikhlighar Sikhs a while back and hardly anyone cared. How can we talk about renovating buildings when there are people who can't even get clean water, have a meal every day and go to school? We should strike a balance between this and should focus on getting Sikhs more educated lift them out of poverty and then everything else will fall into place. There is a huge potential in Pakistan. A million Sindhi Hindus could easily help manage the gurdware, maybe we should focus on them and Sikhs that live there.
  19. What are your views in preserving our heritage like this? This old gurdwara still has the gurbani, pictures etc. But it is being used at least. And not for bad things. It has become a library.
  20. If I was old enough and had the money I'd help educate the Sikhs in Pakistan. Also increase parchaar in the Hindus in Pakistan. They already keep Guru Granth Sahibs, so I don't see why these 1million+ couldn't help us to take care of the heritage in Pakistan. However, what is the point of building up gurdware then not using them. Also, say we spend millions renovating. Then India kills a Muslim. The Pakistanis will take their anger out on our buildings (they've done this before attacking Sikh buildings in 1992). Educate the Sikhs, make them stronger and so that they are a lot of value to the Pak. government, maybe then the government will actually act on what they say and help save the gurdware.
  21. Well it depends on your genes. Take a look at your family and you'll get an idea of how tall you could get. You should eat as much as you can and eat healthy food with lots of vitamins and minerals, wholemeal bread/pasta, fruits, milk stuff like that. Get lots of sleep, your body grows and regenerates tissue while you sleep. Do lots of exercise (running etc). Helpful info here: http://www.wikihow.com/Grow-Taller
