  5. "Each zamindar... from the Attock... to the gates of Delhi lets his beard grow, cries Wah Gorow, eats pork, wears an iron bracelet, abominates the smoking of tobacco... sets up immediately for a Seik Sardar" - Major Polier to Colonel Ironside [1776] "...They consider Halali meat as... forbidden... and eat the jhatka meat, that is the meat of any animals slaughtered by the sword" - James Skinner, Tashrihu'l Aqwan, 1825, quoted in Sikh history from Persian sources, p.218 "The Akalee is a grim and truly formidable looking person... partly [due] to the habitual use of intoxicating drugs [sukha]" - J.F. Watson, The People of India [1868-75] These were the Akalis, a priveleged sect and too powerful and too numerous to be restrained by the government of the King of Lahore... no one dares to touch them" - A. Soltykoff, Voyages dans I'Inde [1858] "These demoniacs possess an awful influence over the people, being regarded as demi-gods, and when any public emergency arises, a convocation of Akalees is held at Umritsur, what ever they decree is... acted upon with universal enthusiasm" - James Coley Journal of the Sutlej Campaign of 1845-6, p.104 have you heard of gurudwara sidh vatti sahib?

  12. no it doesnt make sense penji, its stupid. gurubani is for waheguru only, 3ho has been spreading stupidity and foolishness all over . most of the time and yes you are wrong on this one, why do you need a certain extract from gurubani to do prayer? its always listened if its done from heart. and yes we dont use gurubani this way
  13. Many person became his disciples. Nanak believed in the Oneness of God and in the way that it is asserted in Muhammadan theology. He also believed in transmigration of souls. Holding wine and pork to be unlawful, he had [himself] abandoned eating meat. He decreed avoidance of causing harm toanimals. It was after his time that meat-eating spread amongst his followers. Arjan Mal, who was on of his lineal succesors, found this to be evil. He prohibited people from eating meat, saying “This is not in accordance withNanak’s wishes”. Later, Hargobind, son of Arjan Mal, ate meat and took tohunting. Most of their [the Gurus] followers adopted his practice . Mobad’ Dabistan-I Mazahib 1645-46

Robin singh is partialy right too and s4ngh too most of western sikhs i have come across have lost their roots and label the indians who follow proper maryada or code of conduct they call them bhramanwadi . they have lost many things , and yet blame the natives for following it properly . thta being said , there are a few good sikhs too abroad, maybe a hand full as compared to the population abroad
  22. why not get your own cow or goat for milk and dairy stuff , rather then getting them from dairies who abuse animals? like find a good place where they keep good care of animals and get milk and stuff from there?
  23. once there was a poor sikh farmer his son asked son: father wha good gurbani will do , if i do not understand its meaning ? Father , : son i want you to bring me water in that basket son" but the water will seep out , Father : you dont know until you try so, the son ran and tried to get water and it all leaked out Son: father its impossible Father: no its no bring me water in that basket Son in fit to proove his father wrong he tried again and again . but failed miserabely tired and defeated he went to his father Son: father i cant do it its impossible to hold water in this basket , no matter how fast i run . water leaks out Father : look at the basket , its clean just like gurbani even if we do not understand its meaning or it seeps our of our mind , but with continuous recitation it cleanses and cleans our mind and our sins So to answer your question No, English translation is not gurbani and should not be treated as such too every single word of gurubani is like an ocean of knowledge , so buy translating you are limiting yourself. translation is just a translation its not gurbani here is what you can do find videos of gurbani you want to read, They have Gurbani , transliteration and translation all together in one video. if you cannot read gurubani , try reading with transliteration . along the video to get the hang of proper pronunciation hope it helps yes it ok to understand the meaning but its not as same as reding gurubani
