  1. Lol don't ask. It's just a made up day really. Another "engagement". Basically consists of barfi, samoseh, lukewarm juice followed by chaa which looks like muddy water, and crusty £1 notes issued by Bank Of Scotland. Oh and suits and shirts which have made rounds across the whole country.
  2. With the types of questions you ask, it's probably safe to say that one could assume you live in a cave. Roka goes by many names and has a few variations. Can be called Mangani, Thaka, Sagan din, Pyaar din etc.
  3. Babe Ke Gurdwara, Bericote Road, Leamington Spa. Also, Babe Ke Farm which is in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. I always thought it was the same location but it's not. Check them both out on Google Maps. Very rural.
  4. Excuse me, how dare you post a comment without any foundation? (joke) 7. Kirtan Sohela – Panj Ishnana (washing feet, hands and face) is performed before going to sleep. After this, one is to sit upon their bed cross-legged, facing their pillow and recite the prayer. Satguru is with us at all times and protects us from the Angel of Death and demons. If one unexpectedly dies in their sleep, they will not enter lower lifeforms. Bad thoughts/dreams do not occur if Kirtan Sohela has been recited. Satguru places an iron fortress around the Sikh so nothing can hurt or scare him/her. Take what you will from the above. However, Taksal maryada is poorly written in English; it uses wild justifications to try and get points across and wildly misquotes Gurbani, using it without any context. Very very dogmatic. Sort of feels like you've boarded the Guilt Trip Express. A few examples: "It is a cardinal sin to eat any type of meat whether it be Kutha or meat killed in any other fashion and it makes one a traitor to the Guru." ^^^No foundation for the second part of that. Who would have thought eating meat equals high treason. A quote from the part regarding meat, specifically: "Thousands have been martyred to uphold this Rehat and have gone many gruelling days, weeks and months in battle or persecution whilst maintaining these high standards." I never knew my diet today would have been of so much concern to those in the past. Also the classic double standard: "A Singh must look upon his wife as his faithful Singhni and a Singhni should look upon her husband as Parmeshwar(God)." I know many women who would rather become Sadhvis. "An Amritdharee should not even look at alcohol." Next you see a billboard for Strongbow while you're driving, close your eyes and hope for the best. "If you do not recognise Damdama Sahib as a Takhat, you're a Manmatee." Errmm ok...
  5. If I was you I'd just do it again when I'm actually gonna go to sleep. I can't say for sure but I've heard you should actually do it where you sleep.
  6. Nowhere in my post does it indicate that one should be swayed by attention seekers. But if one is causing dukh, whether it's for drameh droomeh or just because that's their character, this behaviour should be pointed out or in others words, that you will no longer take sh!t off them. I agree here but I didn't mention anything about being scared. However if you are referring to fear of dukh, then it's a completely different topic. Guru Ji does have our back but sometimes we need to be more forthcoming with Guru Sahibs wisdom, be more proactive. If they listen or not is their problem, You have made yourself clear. I have nothing against your MIL, but I believe the comparison may not apply here; she has not grown up with the influence of Sikhi or culture. The OP's name suggests that this family member would possibly be receptive to some wise words which are Sikhi based. I agree as well as admire this. You shouldn't stop doing someones seva just because they cannot see anything positive (especially if they're family), we should carry on but also make them aware of their kartootan, and as MisterrSingh said, keep them at arms length while doing so - don't cut rishte but loosen your grip on the rope. Baki khasma nu khaave.
  7. Fair enough. As those very same bazurg say...ਅਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੱਡੂ ਲਹਿਣੇ ਐ
  8. Why should people have to change themselves? There's a difference between having Daya and Nimrata and then bending to the will of anothers pakhand. People who dish out dukh without a shred of concern for others need to be taught a moral lesson. If one is being an Akirtghan then they need to be made aware of this. You can change your mindset in accordance with Gurmat but there's no point changing yourself in a way which either directly or indirectly continues to condone such behaviour. Sikhs do not sit around praying waiting for a miracle. We spread the knowledge of Gurmat, that's how change comes about. Even those who are supposedly "cursed" can change, with the intervention of Gyaan. Or should we just wait for Sant Ji to come and save the day?
  9. It's like when that guy called up Harjap Bhangal's immigration show with the same situation and he's like "paaji ohh ta meri life f*cked kar gai". It was live as well. Lol
  10. Sorry I was thinking out loud. To the OP: Contact Relate for relationship counselling. They will help you work through your issues. https://www.relate.org.uk/
  11. So did Prabhu Yeshu. He got over it by Easter.

Topics which need serious research: I want to do Budha Dal Rehras Sahib but I'm not a budha. Is this against maryada? I was picking fruit and veg in my garden but my pruning scissors were blunt. Are these still jhatka or are they now halal? I work for the Royal Mail and our uniform is red. Have I broken maryada? I was rubbing my eyes and an eyelash fell out. Do I have to go pesh? Did our God drink sukha? Last but not least...is my God better than other Gods? Please contribute. Thanks.

As someone who does Brahm Kavach, I'm sure you know the answer bro.

You know I was joking right? And I think you mean SGPC maryada.
  15. Granted they do have a very balanced and unbiased view, which is something many claim to have, but in fact do not. But tbh, I don't know where all this is gonna get them. Doing such a 180 like they have is, in the words of Badal Senior, "committing political suicide". Most of their discontent is with Nihangs, and they are entitled to their views some of which are valid too, but one is left wondering if something else has happened behind the scenes and whether it really is to do with their new-found concern for the Panth. Like I said sceptic. They also generalising with their Samparda bashing. Although I'm biased here because my general view is pro-Sampardayee Sikhi. Btw who exactly are the people they've cut ties with? Budha Dal UK or someone else? Or is this info not for public consumption?
  16. MrDoaba

    .

NO! Have you not seen the the new Tisarpanth website? Nihangs are all bad!
  17. Their FB page explains their new stance in no uncertain terms, has good points and carries much value. However, the anti-Samparda views are defo overkill, IMO of course. And apologies, he's not a good guy. Punctuation error - amended.
  18. That's a bit of a leap. Just because he's standing next to a woman, it does not automatically imply something scandalous is going on. And is he also not allowed to make money now either? The only thing these supposedly panthic website know how to do is poison the well, something which our community seems to have a MA in. I wonder if there's a Punjabi version of The Crucible?
  19. You're probably right about this. A calculated move on their part. Fact is people are drawn to Niddar, for whatever reason - his loyal followers see him as the good guy, and of course want other people to envisage that "maybe he is a good guy after all". He may sound like an <banned word filter activated> when he talks, but he certainly isn't one, as has been evident in the past. I remember hearing this clip when it first surfaced. He is knowledgeable, however there is one thing I have possibly noticed; occasionally his katha subtly hints at reliance on Sants/Babe. He likes to create an intermediary between the Sikh and God. It's probably how he establishes trust and slowly reveals himself as said intermediary. The 'shenanigans' must be what follows, naturally. I have nothing against Sants/Babe per se, but implying, in the sense he does, that they are somehow essential on one's journey is not something I can agree to. It's possible I'm reading too much into it albeit these scandals do turn one into a certified sceptic. That's why their previous links no longer work. Could you shed any light as to what exactly has caused them to break off?
  20. MrDoaba

    .,

What about the Hazoori Das Granthi pdf?
  21. A Nihang trifecta. I'd say the odds are looking pretty good. The anti-Sanatan brigade already has him in their sights. Wouldn't you say he's already been brought down somewhat through his association with Niddar? Although, I wouldn't have seen it coming with Kamalroop Singh. Now even he's being lumped together with Niddar. Then again, personally, I don't know enough of the ins and outs of Nihang politics to make any comments which have much validity.
  22. Thanks for this. In one week we've brought down two Singhs. First 'Gyani' Thakur Singh and now Dr Kamalroop Singh. I don't know how much more I can take. Lol
  23. Forgive my ignorance, but where does/would Kamalroop Singh fall into all of this?

Loll now we've got green as well. Impossible to win! Anyway, with the Saffron business, I've been wondering, is there actually a definitive shade of saffron? From what I've seen it can range anywhere from yellow to maroon.
