  1. yeah..jaspaul singh is right... i mean..kirtan is nice..and guru ji being there will be amazing... but let's face it...the langar in waterloo is nuts....i absolutely love the kheer...i think the langar is why i keep going back... that plus..i get threats from heera singh if i think about not going..
  2. jaspaul veer.. you wrote a whole essay about the negatives...and i'm sure we all appreciate the awareness.. yet your wrote two sentences about how chardi kala the samagams were...perhaps you can write some more of your experiences at the samagams...something to inspire us all...
  3. great post by ms514... but i'm gonna be a desi parent and point out my one mistake... it's not " i don't see NONE of your friends"...it's "i don't see ANY of your friends"... yes yes...very good post indeed...but we can always work on perfection!!!!
  4. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh Satkar jog Sadh Sangat ji, By the grace of Guru Granth Sahib ji, there will be an amrit sinchaar samaagam at Gurdwara Jot Parkash Sahib on Saturday, January 14th, 2006 at 2 pm organized by Damdami Taksal International. Akal Purakh has given us this rare human form so that we may attain our goal of meeting him. In Kaljug, at present time, the only way to adopt Guru Nanak Dev jee as your guru is to take amrit from Punj Pyare. Anyone who is willing to walk on the way of Guru Sahib that is as sharp as the edge of Khanda, should come to Gurdwara Jot Parkash at 2pm on Saturday January 14th, 2006. Please note the following before coming to the amrit sinchaar: 1) Please do keshi ishnaan before coming. 2) Wear gurmukhi baana i.e. chola or kurta at least up to knees. 3) Cloths and Dastar worn should be washed and clean. 4) Wear Dastaara and clothes of Khalsa colour only e.g. blue, white, black and kesri. 5) Kachhera must be white only. 6) Other kakaars will be provided at the samagam. If you want to bring your own kakaars, please note that the KaRa and Kirpaan must be of sarbloh and not steel. For more information, please phone the Gurdwara Sahib at 905-790-1415 or email at sewa@gursikhijeevan.com Admin Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh http://www.gursikhijeevan.com/community/ph...read.php?8,9957
  5. i think youve jumped the gun..i don't thikn the aim of this thread was just to point out people that have "sant" attached ot their name...the name doesn't make a saint... all of the gursikhs you mentioned in your posts...irrespective if they were called bhagat, baba, bhai...were all great saints...there is nothing wrong with highlighting that...
  6. i thought naam drirta is a part of every amrit sanchar...no?
  7. although veer namastang did take unneccessary potshots at the akj in his earlier posts..i think he's done a better job of expressing his thoughts in his last message...there are several valid points that i think veer jagjit singh and others should address.. especially the one where other girls are not considered amritdhari who don't wear keski...although they adhere fully to akal takt maryada... i also have a question for jagjit singh ji..since the akj was brought up.. did akal takt say that it is the choice of jathebandis whether to have keski or kes as the kakkar?...like in the case of raagmala...they have given a choice...so some people read and some people don't...i know that the bhinderawalay sants were unhappy with this decision made by akal takt..but still bowed down to the authority of akal takt... so now..on the sgpc site...the akal takt maryada...has kes listed as kakkar...shouldn't all panthic jathebandis bow down to akal takt authority?..even if they don't agree with the decision..they could lobby akal takt...but at the end of the day...shouldn't we be putting our egos aside and listen to what akal takt says?? i don't mean for any of this to be an attack..i'm just trying to understand the position cuz most people don't directly address this issue...everyone starts to get emotional..i'm hoping people don't do that here...
  8. i think it is highly irresponsible and arrogant to try to put words into the mouths of great gurmukhs like bhai daya singh...i'm seeing people saying...oh he meant that women have to wear dastarrs...but it really isn't said explicitly...the only instruction that is specifically aimed at women doesn't even mention the dastaar...people are saying oh well..he was trying to clarify for them...but if he WAS trying to clarify...why wouldn't he clarify it in totality and say the word dastaar in addition to the joora?..hence the debate... and whoever said all gursikh amritdhari bibian are required to wear dastaars...that's just laughable...i'll show you some amritdhari gursikh bibian without dastaars who follow such rehit that will make us all cry... plus...whoever said that...shows how arrogant they are...especially when in the panthic maryadas keski isn't required...how are we above the panth all of a sudden...and then claim to be panthic....seems pretty counterintuitive... i'm not saying women shouldn't wear keski....i love seeing my bhens in keskis..i think it is something that takes a lot of courage to do...however...i am not convinced at all that it is a requirement...and most panthic sikh organizations have taken the stance that it isn't required...
  9. if the rehit of keski/dastar was the same for men and women.. i wonder why the rehitnama would have an extra line for Women...and i nthat extra line for women doesn't say anything about dastaar...instead just says they should have joora and the kes not left open... kind of throws out the argument for dastaar if being based on that rehitnama...
  10. the akal takt maryada does not mention pins anywhere... and i have yet to come across any gurbani or a rehit nama that even suggests that pins are not allowed... therefore, according to Panthic maryada it's allowed... now if YOUR panj piyaray told you not to do it...don't do it..it's that simple... but not all panj piyaraay will tell you that...cuz it's not mentioned inthe rehit maryada...and therefore...on a panthic level..pins are fine...
  11. the cafetaria at my school used to use flour based gravy...meaning no meat... you just have to ask them..what they use as the base for the gravy...whether or not it's vegetarian...more often than not...they're gonna be meat...but times are changing and more places are using vegetarian bases... if anything ...you can always make it at home yourself...
  12. i bought the toshiba protege s100....back in september... no problems thus far...it's very light weight and yet powerful...

hahaha...japman...get back to your books... sheesh..and the kid says he wants to go to law school...
  17. i had the good fortune of attending the december calgary samagam about two years ago....i was only in town for about two days...and i had planned on spending the time there just vegging out...however...somehow guru ji took me to the samagam..and those two days were spent in blissful simran, seva, sangat.... i encourage all to try to attend the samagam...and get laahaa of guru ji...
  18. i love how namastang will ignore a topic when he's been proven wrong ..ie..mangal charan.. i also love how when someone counters his baseless statments with some actual research..he just starts accusing them of kitabi giyaan...and expects us to believe his stories cux some nihung living in TO tells him things...a nihung who's been known to change his vichars quite often depending on the "group" of people he's talking to...so yeah...really reliable source... and i didn't see bikramjit making fun of you or shortening your name in an effort to insult you..why would you go and insult him??? really, name calling just shows how little you do know and that you're desperate...
  19. i haven't seen the purataan saroops myself..but according to kulbir singh, from tapoban and others...they have seen the saroops and have said no.. that the mangalcharans were before the raag... ik oankaar satigur prasad guauree sukhmani mahalaa 5 salok their explanation was that if you look at the puratan saroops before they were PRINTED...when they were still written.. the mangal charan will appear at the right hand side of the page, higher than the raag... but when they started printing the saroops they changed the position... by the time the sgpc figured out what went wrong...people were against changing it back.. personally...i don't care where the mangalcharan goes...to me it's a technicality...however...i only am discussing it cuz namastaang loves to bring up this issue..and doesn't give proper facts....
  20. cuz he's got no answers... and he hasn't even addressed the mangal charn issue directly with all the facts either...he just throws the names of sants and expects me to shutup...haha...
  21. so you're calling the sgpc impotent because they had the good sense to consult everyone??...kinda counterintuitive there buddy.... and wait..what about the fact that the sgpc wanted to change the positioning of the mangal charans back to the original form...wasn't it some SANTS that were against it???...if you look at puraatan saroops the mangal charan always comes before the raag not after it.... and which sgpc have tried to change the kakkar to keski?...only some people believe it is keski...but at sgpc its kes...your nihungs had nothing to do with that...
  22. hahaha.. i love how you've changed your stance so slyly... just months ago you were talking about sgpc maryada as made by malech... in fact one of your nihnung friends, beast, had to correct you about that...hahaha
  23. veerji you are right.. naam is only given by guru ji...in the form of panj piyaraay... however, once we have gotten gurmantar from panjpiyaraay...it is best to spend time in the company of saints... of gurmukh piyaraay, who are absorbed in naam simran 24/7...why?...because even walking past such a person, your simran will start...their vibrations and aura become so strong that anyone in their vicinity will be affected "sehaj subhaai"... why else do we do sadh sangat?...cuz while sitting in guru ji's hazoori..when we do kirtan, when we do simran...there will be some people sitting in sangat who have a higher level of concentration...and those few gursikh souls make it easier for us paapis to concentrate... this is what i believe....
