  1. you can get the energy bars, (which are more expensive)... but if you veggie then even though it is nasty, drinking supplement is the best option... some singh... alot of em contain egg or traces of fish so just be careful which one you choose. your better off getting advice like that off a fitness trainer cus even some protein supplements without egg/fish are crapp quality.. before training you need to get your energy levels up so cans of nursishment, pasta, or even choccie helps..lucozade is good whilst training... when you finish training then take your protein within an hour and have something to eat aswell... but again the best advice you can get is off a fitness instructor..
  2. lol i'll tell you what, why don't we just declare southall the Republic City State of Khalistan. im sure the British Gov't wouldn't mind
  3. veer ji ppl like him only post such comments to stir hatred and wouldn't be interested in learning the truth
  4. arranged marriage is alot more liberal in our generation. back in the day most people never really used to have a say who they would marry or even have contact with them prior to the marriage
  5. veer ji a forum is where people express their views and opinions and your bound to have people on here you don't agree with.
  6. i meant getting married to ppl of the same caste doesn't strengthen....lol
  7. k my two pence worth caste is just another negative aspect of punjabi culture.. but we need to draw a distinction between caste and Sikhi, as caste has nothing to do with the latter. on a general note arranged marriage is a good idea for those who wish to go down that road. but it is a popular method of marriage used by other cultures, religions across the world ie.greeks... also the context of arranged marriage and caste varies between ppl of punjabi background. for instance one person might want to marry a jatt/jatti whereas another person doesn't care. i think with the youth in this country caste will just become just another word in bhangra songs and not influence who they marry, and alot more people will just marry out of faith. lastly getting married to people doesn't strengthen the community as a whole, but causes divisions instead

Once again was Hinduism right? Then the 3 faiths God sent after it were contradicting it, then Sikhism came and said no oops! Yep Hinduism was right, reincarnation is right. More so, it was eliminated in the Books of God 3 times in succession! All the scriptures tell of the Day of Judgment and the after-life. Why have Sikhs just copied the Hindus? A: The Sikh concept of the after-life is much more descriptive than any other faith. Here is a fundamental question that no other faith can answer, including Islam. If a baby is born and screams one scream and then dies, what will happen to its soul? What was the purpose of its existence? If we believe in one coming and one going, then the birth of this baby makes no sense. It had no life to live and could not do anything and so will it go to Heaven or somewhere else? And why did God give this creature such a short life in which it could do nothing? No answer can be given to this question by Islam. On the other hand, Sikhism believes that everything is a result of karma. The child's karma called for it to only live for that long and it will now be re-born again after having lived that karma it had created. A human can only exit the web of karma by meditating on Gurmat Naam and immersing the self into Akaal. According to Sikhism, when a Human dies, jam doot or minions of death come and take the soul to the court of Dharam Rai. This is a very painful journey in which the soul of the manmukh (one without the Satguru) encounters much pain and hardship. Once in the court of Dharam Rai, his account of deeds is read to him and he cannot deny anything. He cries that he did not take advantage of human life and become one with Akaal. He is then given his sentence. This can be a certain amount of time in heaven or hell to receive the fruits of his deeds and then after that time, he is sent back into the cycle of births and deaths. Heaven and Hell are not permanent places. They are not where a Sikh wishes to go. They are simply transitory places where one receives either pleasure or pain. There are 5 Khands or realms: the first is Dharam Khand in which all souls must appear to receive their account in the court of Dharam Rai. The next realm is Giaan Khand in which reside countless gods and goddesses and angels and also beings like Buddha and other prophets. After this realm is Sharam Khand. Sharam Khand is now a level that cannot be understood by the human mind. In it, the mind and intellect are re-shaped to see and understand new realities. All the above mentioned places: heaven, hell, Dharam Khand, Gian Khand, Sharam Khand are all transitory and will finish when Akaal finishes creation. Beyond these are "true" realms. These are Karam Khand and Sach Khand. Karam Khand is for true devotees of Akaal who have meditated on him and Sach Khand is where Gursikhs go who have meditated on Gurmat Naam and become one with God. Here they are forever immersed in bliss and unity with God and forever sing his praises. Clearly then, this system is different than any other faith. It is not "borrowed" from Hinduism. bhul chuk maaf
  9. bhenji/veer ji (i'm not jagjit bhaji lol but i'll try and give yo some info) this person as you said is a recent convert and as we all know Muslims believe that by submission to Allah and by believing in the prophet Muhammed is the only way someone will get to heaven. if she's stern in her belief then she wont take any notice of what you have to say.. she just wants you to doubt and question your faith here is a viewpoint on the whole thing, but some might disagree. from www.whyichosesikhism.com (well worth having a look at) Q: If the Gurus said that all religions lead to the same path, you'll be ok whichever religion you're in. Then why didn't they mention them all in depth in their writings? With Sikhism, if all these past religions were right why don't we believe in Adam as the first man etc. Was there a sudden change of plan when the Guru's came along? Now man was no longer created from Adam? The argument we are all on a path which leads to God, no matter which we take cannot apply. Not everyone worships one God. A: It is a TOTALLY FALSE argument that Sikhism believes all paths lead to the same goal and thus all religions are equal: From its very inception, Gurmat has been declared a unique and distinct path. Bhai Gurdas writes: "the Guru has created the mighty Gurmukh panth. This panth keeps itself away from the boundaries of the Vedas and the Semitic scriptures..." (Bhai Gurdas, 23.19) SGGS over and over stresses the importance of "Gurmat Naam". Without Gurmat Naam no one can find Akaal or reach sachkhand. Gurmat naam is only available in the house of Guru Nanak: "Nanak kai ghar keval, naam" . Keval means "only". Without naam, no one can find God. GurbaaNee is clear about this fact: Nanak naam binaa ko mukath n hoee Translation:O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no one is liberated Where is this naam to be found? From the Guru. bin gur naam n paaeiaa jaae Translation:Without the Guru, the Naam cannot be obtained. Satguru Nanak is the only true Guru who has preached naam, and given gurmat-naam. As for other acts of "religion", this is what Guru Nanak says: theeruthh thup dhaeiaa dhuth dhaan || Pilgrimages, austere discipline, compassion and charity jae ko paavai thil kaa maan || these, by themselves, bring only an iota of merit. suniaa mu(n)niaa man keethaa bhaao || Listening and believing with love and humility in your mind, a(n)thurugath theerathh mal naao || cleanse yourself with the Name, at the sacred shrine deep within....... So, unless someone receives Gurmat Naam from Guru Nanak, there is no liberation. They will be rewarded for their good karma, but not liberated. They don't want liberation! Christians are content with heaven, and they will receive it. But then they will enter the cycle of births and deaths again, hopefully in a life which will bring them closer to liberation. Gurmat Panth's respect of all religions goes as far as saying that they are not sent to eternal hell, they will get what they work for. Like Harmandir Saahib: God is open and available to all directions and all people of the world, but the path to God is ONE: Gurmat. About other faiths: eik jainee oujhurr paae dhhuruhu khuaaeiaa || Some are Jains, wasting their time in the wilderness; by their pre-ordained destiny, they are ruined. panna 1285 hi(n)dhoo a(n)nhaa thurukoo kaanaa || The Hindu is blind; the Muslim has only one eye. panna 875 In many other places it is made clear that Gurmat, the way of the Giani, who meditates on Gurmat Naam is the only path to Akaal. Others will get their heaven etc. but not find Akaal. All faiths will get what they work towards. Only Gurmat has a concept such as Sach Khand and God-Realisation in such a clear way. Thus, Gurmat is the only path to Sach Khand and merger with Akaal. Who else is the true Guru of status of Guru Nanak? Mohammad? Jesus? Krishna? Rama? There is none. These prophets don't come close to even the Sikhs of Guru Nanak, let alone Guru Nanak himself. GurbaaNee leaves no doubt: "Sabh tay Vadaa Satgur Nanak, Jin kal raakhee mayree" meaning Satuguru Nanak is THE GREATEST who has protected my honour in this age of darkness (Kaljug). i slightly disagree with this in that i believe every religion is true and WILL eventually lead to the same path. EXAMPLE: a mountain has streams leading into it (lol that dont make sense but plz carrying on reading). some streams take longer than others. but Khalsa is the shortcut. by taking amrit and keeping rehit is the only way one can achieve mukhti our lives are like account balances, as a result of our past deeds we might have credit or we might be debited in this life. likewise if joe bloggs was a really good person who done loadsa good deeds in his past lives in which he was a devout muslim, christian then by the grace of the Guru in this life he might have the opportunity of earning sikhi and taking amrit and becoming joe singh :T: siqguir rwKy sy jn aubry hor mwieAw moh KuAwrI hy ]12] sathigur raakhae sae jan oubarae hor maaeiaa moh khuaaree hae ||12|| Those humble beings, whom the True Guru protects, are saved. 13. RSS Agent Rulda woos prominent 'Khalistanis' ? Sunday 1st January, 2006 Panthic Weekly Bureau New Delhi (KP) - Panthic Weekly has obtained exclusive audio recording of RSS protagonist Rulda Singh in which he makes shocking revelations regarding his organization's myterious alliances with various Khalistani idealogues worldwide. Rulda, a representative of the Rashtrya Sikh Sangat wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), acknowledges that he reports to ex-BJP supremo LK Advani, and is more than anxious to bring the Sikh leadership under the wings of thier Rashtrya Sakha. Unaware he was being recorded, Rulda boasts of pacifying many of the separatists and states he was working with them to bring them into the mainstream fold; on the other hand he reveals his frustrations about his failure to reign in some of the more devout of the Sikh activists. He also states that he has mediators and informants in several western countries who keep him updated on the movements of certain individuals and his tactic in baiting them. Made by undercover Panthic activists, these recording are sure to bring shockwaves amongst the Sikh Diaspora regarding the true dedication of their so-called leadership. Over the next several weeks Panthic Weekly will be presenting a series of articles dissecting these recordings and providing our readers actual audio tracks along with transcripts of Rulda Singh unraveling his nexus with these various Sikh leaders and activists. RSS approaches NCM to woo Takhat Jathedars Sunday 11th December, 2005 Panthic Weekly News Bureau NCM Chairman Tarlochan Singh Amritsar Sahib (KP) -- During celebrations of the 400th Parkash Divas of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat wing of the Rashtrya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) attempted to insult Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by 'labeling' Guru Sahib as a Hindu Granth and purposely misinterpreted Gurbani and Sikh ideals. They had also planned a march onto Sri Akal Takht Sahib, with blessings from Akali Dal (Badal), which was subsequently thwarted by Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Panthic bodies. After consultation with Panthic organizations, Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti released a memorandum of boycott against the RSS and Rashtrya Sikh Sangat, highlighting that all Sikh organizations, jathebandis, societies and Gurdwaras should not support them in any way. A year later, the Rashtrya Swayamsevak Sangh and its offspring the Rashtrya Sikh Sangat are at it again. This time with help from officials of the central government and SGPC employees sympathetic to the Sangh’s cause. One person whose has come up is National Commission for Minorities (NCM) Chairman Tarlochan Singh. Easily recognizable by his curiously jet-black beard, Singh has been attempting to dabble in Sikh politics since his appointment to the Commission in early 2003. This time he is playing the role of matchmaker between the Sangh and the Takht Jathedars. Panthic Weekly has obtained access to photocopies of letters exchanged with the RSS, NCM chairman, and Jathedar Vendanti’s assistant Prithipal Singh Sandhu. In August of 2005, when Shahbaaz Khalsa, the public wing of GURSIKH, exposed Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s (DSGMC) publication of the blasphemous book "Guru Gobind Gita", they released a letter written by NCM Chairman urging the DSGMC to publish the book. Panthic Weekly has obtained a copy of a letter written by the same Chairman Tarlochan Singh to Jathedar Vendanti’s assistant Prithipal Singh Sandhu asking for a review of the boycott action against the RSS. This letter was sent as a cover letter to Mr. Sandhu along with a "plea" from Rashtrya Sikh Sangat president Gurcharan Singh Gill that the Sangh be allowed to partake in the upcoming 300th anniversary celebrations of Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s Gur-Gaddee Divas. Gill mentions in this letter that their mother organization Rashtrya Swayamsevak Sangh now "respects" and "recognizes" the separate identity of the Sikhs and such statements were made in the presence of the NCM. Furthermore, Gill stated that, along with spreading the message of Sikhism to millions of people, they have actively worked to remove their Sikh 'brothers' from the central government’s infamous blacklist, and have worked towards getting innocent Sikh youths released from Indian prisons. It is obvious from the above facts that the RSS is willing to say and do anything to have the boycott against them removed, and it should be interesting to find out how far people like the Tarlochan Singh and Prithipal Singh Sandhu are willing to go in opening up Panthic affairs to their Biparvadee masters. Reaction Letters Tarlochan Singh's Cover Letter RSS Letter to Vedanti's Secretary(Original) RSS Letter to Vedanti's Secretary(Retyped) GURSIKH (Amritsar) and the Khalsa Alliance (USA), are two Sikh organizations who have worked together in the past in countering attacks from spiritually empty 'intellectuals', 'scholars', and nastics. Jointly, they have also exposed many pro-Biparvadi, anti-Panthic individuals and institutions, along with those undermining the unique character, identity and sovereign rights of the Sikh nation. Since the mid 1990’s activists of the GURSIKH organization have succeeded in their mission of alerting the Sikh leadership and the Panth at large in reference to the scandals of Kala-Afghana, Chandigarh Spokesman, Bhani Murti, Guru Gobind Gita, Chela Ram, and various RSS fiascos. Along with presentations, books and ongoing articles, the GURSIKH organization has openly challenged the likes of Sudarshan, Parveen Togria, and the Bajrang Dal in their meddling of internal Sikh affairs. In a telephone conversation with the Mukh-Sevadaar of GURSIKH, Bhai Ratinder Singh stated to Panthic Weekly that "our struggle with the Sangh continues, we are not satisfied with just a (boycott) memorandum. We want that a Hukamnama be released from Akal Takht Sahib that no Sikh should keep any "roti-beti" (social or family) relations with any member of the Sangh or any member of its suborganization. Other allegations made by GURSIKH included: Jathedar Vedanti’s personal assistant Prithipal Singh Sandhu is in constant communication with Sangh leaders and representatives. They are visiting each other constantly. Mr. Sandhu is playing a key role in having the 2004 boycott memorandum voided. The files and records of the previously mentioned five member committee have disappeared, and RSS agent Rulda Singh is involved in this cover-up. Rulda Singh’s main agenda included wooing so-called ex-militants and pseudo-Khalistanis into the Biparvadi fold. Bhai Amardeep Singh, a member of the Khalsa Alliance, reacted sharply upon learning about these developments. He stated: "We have nothing against any particular community or religion, but these groups (RSS, et. al) preach nothing but hatred and violence against minorities and attempt to undermine the basic fundamentals of our Panth. We have nothing in common with them and we will hold our leaders accountable and caution them to not take any drastic steps in allowing these anti-Sikh elements into the internal affairs of our faith." Background on 2004 Yatra plans On the 1st of September 2004 the RSS had planned to conduct a yatra (procession) to 'celebrate' the 400 Parkash Divas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and it was to conclude directly outside of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. This was not only a denigrating attempt to overtake Panthic celebrations at Spiritual and Temporal Seat of Sikhism but also an arrogant challenge to the Sikh identity. GURSIKH, Khalsa Alliance, and other Panthic organizations quickly mobilized their efforts in alerting the Panth leadership about the Sangh plans. A committee comprising of five Gursikhs, including one member from the GURSIKH organization, was setup to look into the above mentioned Rashtrya Sikh Sangat controversy. For three days, debates were held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib between committee members and several so-called 'scholars' sent on behalf of the Rashtrya Sikh Sangat. Twenty points of objection and ten specific demands were raised by the committee members for the Rashtrya representatives, but not a single point was addressed satisfactorily by them. Additionally, they offered no confidence in meeting any of the demands, especially the one asking them to break all ties with their mother organization, the anti-Panthic Rashtrya Swayamsevak Sangh Making no headway, in sheer embarrassment, the representatives agreed that in the future they would not rake over such controversies in Sikh affairs. Immediately after this occurrence, the memorandum of boycott was released from Sri Akal Takht Sahib. During the tercentenary celebrations of the Khalsa Panth, GURSIKH organized slide shows and seminars exposing the current harmful activities and the real hidden agenda of the RSS. These presentations were held in various cities across India, and were well attended by the Sikh community. Threatened by their exposure, the Sangh and its allies now view GURSIKH and other pro-Panthic organizations as their key adversaries. Intentionally, the RSS has forgotten the promises their representatives had made at Sri Akal Takht Sahib in September 2004. In reality this was one of few times that Sangh members openly debated with Panthic individuals on a level playing field, only to walk away stunned, and in utter dismay. The Sangh would rather not be reminded of that day. Once again, they are attempting to test the steel of Sikhi. They need to be reminded that the "Pecheedeh-Maar" (coiled-cobra) of Guru Gobind Singh Ji still lives and breathes amongst us. CONTROVERSY AND SINISTER PLOT OF RATH YATRA EXPOSED Sunday 4th December, 2005 Panthic Weekly News Bureau Dozens of RSS Terrorists Infiltrate Procession The Golden Palki in a special Bus at Nankana Sahib (AP) Nankana Sahib (KP) -- The Rath Yatra (Chariot Pilgrimage), with its procession of a golden palki (palanquin) and dubious cast of characters, arrived Tuesday not unlike the huge wooden horse that entered the city of Troy to destroy it. The horse was secretly filled with troops in the guise of an offering to the greek god Poseidon. Like the Trojan horse, the intentions behind the face of this ‘grand procession’ are loaded with deception, greed, and ill-will. It is hoped that through this clarion call, the Khalsa Panth will be stimulated to aggressively retake affairs that have no business being in the hands of those who would try to destroy the Khalsa Panth at its roots and shamelessly financially profit from the Gurus’ legacy. Beneath all of the fanfare surrounding the rath yatra to Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Jee, the Sikh sangat has uncovered a sinister plot executed by those who have unsavory ulterior motives towards the Khalsa Panth. The plot includes a cast of government and Gurdwara officials, those who wish to absorb Sikhi into the Hindu fold, businesspersons whose main goal is to make a quick profit by using Sikhi, and those anti-Sikh Cults, who under the guise of Sikhi, are leading innocent Sikhs astray. Panthic Weekly will expose the nefarious deeds of the players in this charade. Government/Gurdwara Officials It would be central to this story to mention the name of Parmjit Singh Sarna here, who is the head of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). All those who wished to partake in the procession and obtain visas to visit Nankana Sahib, Pakistan, had to go through this individual. He alone was responsible for arranging the processing of visa applications for those communal groups whose main goal is the total annihilation of the Sikh way of life. It should be noted that while the ‘average’ Sikhs are being denied visas, and are therefore unable to visit Pakistan, anti-Sikh forces are having no trouble with the process thanks to Mr. Sarna. Along with the preferential treatment of easily obtainable visas, he has been offering all the luxuries that the DSGMC has available. Another important point regarding this individual is that he has several cases pending against him at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib--one of these cases being the affair of Bhanoo Murti who did beadbi (disrespect) of Gurbani. Maninderjit Bitta When this “rath yatra” started in Delhi and wound its way through East Punjab to the Wagah border, many MLA’s (Members of the Legislative Assembly) and other government officials welcomed it along GT road. One, whose name startles alarm in Sikhs, is Madan Lal Khurana, who joined the procession as it neared the Wagah border. It is disturbing to note that Mr. Khurana is a BJP and RSS (right wing Hindu terrorist groups) heavyweight. One wonders why this man would take so much interest in this rath yatra (palki procession), a so-called Sikh event! Maninderjit Bitta, another anti-Panthic stooge and head of the All India Anti-terrorist Front, also welcomed the rath yatra with open arms. His group plastered GT Road with posters of Bitta and banners welcoming the ‘procession’ and its leaders. Anti-Sikh Cults The participation of various anti-Sikh Cults, many of whom have Hukamnamas from Sri Akal Takhat Sahib issued against them, in this rath yatra has created alarm amongst the Sikh intelligentsia. These sects, which took part in the drama of welcoming this ‘procession’, included the Naamdharis, Neel Panthis, and the Darshan Dassis. Tarlochan Das, the son of Darshan Das (who was killed in 1987), is the current “guru” of the Darshan Das sect. Ghassita Ram, Tarlochan Dass’ envoy, and his numerous followers, welcomed the rath yatra from Delhi to Ambala. In the city of Ludhiana, the Naamdhari cult, who also worship a fake living “guru”, welcomed the rath yatra in full force. It is well known that these groups are created and funded by forces whose only goal and intention is the corruption and destruction of the Sikh faith and Sikh history. Panthic Weekly has exclusive photos evidencing the participation of these anti-Panthic groups in the yatra. Naamdharees welcome the yatra Darshan Das signs The Darshan Das cult welcomes the yatra with a roadside sign saying "Satguru Darshan Dham" along with a picture of Guru Nanak Dev Jee The yatra was largely advertised in Hindi by the Congress Party Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (RSS) - Branch of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (Hindu Terrorist Organization) Rulda "Singh" Panthic Weekly obtained the Names and Passport Numbers of the RSS Sevaks/Agents accompanying Rulda. Rulda Singh, the current head of this communal organization that is bent on destroying the roots of Sikhi, and his wife, were given a special air-conditioned room by Sarna and party at Rakab Ganj Gurdwara Sahib, where they stayed overnight. His purpose of staying at this Gurdwara truly unveils the sinister plot, already set in motion. Rulda Singh came to Gurdwara Rakab Ganjh Sahib to not only apply for Pakistan visas for himself and his wife, but for at least 46 other suspicious individuals belonging to the RSS. Out of the 46 applicants, 5 were rejected because their passports were not submitted on time. The 41 approved participants are accompanying Rulda and Sarna to Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. Business Investment The majority of Sikhi-related audio tapes, CDs, and DVDs sold in India carry the T-Series label. The owner of this company is a person by the name of Gulshan Kumar. Darshan Kumar, the brother of Gulshan, along with an industrialist from Noida by the name of Chawla, donated the 7 million rupees used to build the golden palki. In return, T-Series has the exclusive contract for recording this entire fiasco. This seems to be a great business deal for T-Series, as the investment of 7 million rupees will give them a return of at least Rs. 500 Million from the sale of millions of DVDs. Controversy From the very beginning, the ‘palki procession’ has been marred by controversy. Originally, the golden palki was to be taken empty to Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. At the very last minute, Mr. Sarna and party decided to do Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji on the palki whilst taking it to Nankana Sahib. It is obvious that Parmjit Singh Sarna and party have no understanding or respect of the Sikh Rehat Maryada, the Sikh code of conduct. If they had even minute knowledge on the subject, they would know that parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is not done on a palki but rather on a Manji or Takhat Sahib. An additional arrangement, which Sarna’s party wished to carry out, was the replacement of the current and original marble Takhat Sahib at Nanakana Sahib with the golden palki. Due to the alertness and huge outcry of the Sikh sangat, this plan was foiled. It needs to be noted these types of ‘changes’ by SGPC and DSGMC Kar Sewa have completely ruined the face of our historical Gurdwaras in Punjab—and in effect, our architectural history. It now seems as if the same is being attempted at historical Gurdwaras in Pakistan, which so far have been preserved intact by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. One has to wonder as to where Mr. Sarna obtained the permission to replace the original marble takhat with a golden palki! Parmjit Sarna’s elaborate scheme of transporting the golden palki, in a rath yatra, is nothing more than a way for him and his supporters, the RSS, and T-Series to gain prominence, make inroads of destruction into the unscathed Gurdwaras in Pakistan, and amass riches. Once a foothold is established there by these rascals, the propaganda, anti-Sikhi parchar, and meddling at multiple political levels will follow. All this is being done at the expense of the Sikh sangat. We bring to the attention of our readers that over 5 million rupees of the Sangat’s money has been wasted en route from Delhi to the Wagah border on accommodations, food, other necessities and expensive niceties for these corrupt political leaders, the RSS, and those whose only objective is financial gain at the expense the faith of the Sangat. Another surprising revelation is that the average sangat member was not allowed to participate in the procession, due to the presence of nearly 10,000 plus uniformed officers stationed along the Grand Trunk Road. Those accompanying the rath yatra consisted of the previously mentioned personalities traveling in government vehicles with special red emergency sirens. Panthic Weekly asks, who is the overall sponsor of this event in the big picture? With government vehicles and excessive police presence? Government VIP vehicles Commenting on the pillaging of the Sangat’s money, Jathedar Bhai Sahib Bhai Ranjeet Singh Ji, said, “It is shameful that Sarna has resorted to the same deeds which Badal and Bibi [Jagir Kaur] are doing, such people are answerable to the sangat for misusing golak donations for self promotion.” Mr. Sarna has also given Hindu terror organizations, such as the RSS, an opportunity to make inroads into Pakistan Gurdwaras. These Gurdwaras, due to their protracted isolation, had so far been safe from the interference and infiltration of the RSS for over 50 years. The unsuspecting Sangat is unwittingly paying for its very own destruction! The sangat should be alert to the nefarious designs of Rulda Singh and his involvement in the internal affairs of Sikhs in Pakistan. The sangat needs to proactively deal with and get involved in its own Panthic affairs. The PGPC needs to be especially wary and unsupportive of this group and need to uphold preservation of the precious shrines of Pakistan. In a well appreciated move to defend Sikhi in Pakistan, the Khalsa Alliance, a Panthic watch organization, has informed Panthic Weekly that it has registered a complaint with the Pakistan embassy and has forwarded the names and passport numbers of the 41 individuals who are accompanying Rulda Singh into Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. A spokesperson for the Khalsa Alliance, which is also this paper’s parent organization, said that “the RSS has done enough damage in east Punjab and [we want to] forewarn the sangat that they should not be allowed to create communal disharmony [or] hatred in western Punjab. Rulda of the [Rashitrya] Sikh sangat and his cadre of RSS sevaks should not be allowed to partake in any Sikh/gurdwara religious activities”. These people, for their selfish reasons, are selling out the Sikh Nation. The Sangat in both India and Pakistan needs to keep a close eye on their activities while they are in Pakistan for a five or six day stay. The Sangat in its infinite wisdom can empower itself to pick up the flag, rebel and organize to foil the nefarious plans of these enemies of the Khalsa Panth. Had the king of Troy listened to his son, who advised him to burn the horse before it entered the city, Troy might still be standing.

  16. The Indian Government executed Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha on October 9, 1992 in Pune. They were responsible for punishing Gen. Vaidiya the architect of the 1984 attack on Sree Darbaar Sahib. They had tracked him down and shot him dead and in the process, restored the honor and dignity of the Sikh people. The following is a compilation of excerpts of their letters to their family members and friends, mainly from the last week of their lives, detailing their experiences and feelings as Shaheedee approached. These letters were secretly smuggled out of jail. The Indian Government did not want the Panth to know the ChaRdee Kalaa with which these two Singhs faced death. We have also included short biographies of both Singhs at the end of this article. But before we go into their final week, presented is the letter Bhai Jinda wrote to his mother after his death sentence was pronounced: _________________ Letter by Bhai Jinda on October 27, 1989: The day of October 21, 1989 was a day of great happiness for Khalistan. On that day, at 11 o’clock, we were taken from the jail to the courthouse. When we arrived at the courts, we were still in the car when the police came and told us that we would have to take our shoes off before entering the courthouse. We refused to take off our shoes. The judge was thinking that we might beat him to death with them. We sent the judge a message that we would never do such a lowly thing and that if he had any doubts, he could have us handcuffed, but we would never remove our shoes. The judge agreed to what we said and did not even have us handcuffed. We were presented in the courthouse. The judge came and met us especially with folded hands. Right upon sitting down, the judge announced his not-guilty verdict for brother Nirmal Singh. Then the judge said to us that we were guilty in the General Vaidiya case. The judge asked our lawyers about a reduced sentence but we had already forbidden them that they should not say anything about it. Then the lawyers came to us and asked if they could ask the judge to reduce our sentences. We said that they should not and that we ourselves would talk to him about it. The judge then called veer Sukhdev Singh to the stand. The judge said to veer Sukhdev Singh, “You have been convicted in this case. Say something about your punishment.†Sukhdev Singh replied, “The day that the wicked government attacked Darbar Sahib, on that day I had decided that my life was the Panth’s and it didn’t matter if it went today or tomorrow. At that time I had thought that until I have taken revenge for the disrespect to Darbar Sahib, and do not achieve Khalistan, I will not sit in peace. When this life is the Panths, then what care do I have about the punishment? You may announce any punishment you like.†Then veer started shouting jaikaras and slogans for Khalistan. Then the judge called me. Sukhdev Singh had returned to his spot and sat down. The judge then said to me, “you have been convicted in the Gen. Vaidiya case. Say something about your punishment.†I said to the judge, “that day when I began to walk on this path, that day I wrote my life off to the Panth. While I live I will continue to punish the enemies of humanity like Gen. Vaidiya and will fight until Khalistan is achieved. When this life and existence is the Panth’s, then what do I fear of any punishment? You can announce any punishment.†The judge then asked us, “Are you prepared to sacrifice for Khalistan?†We replied, “yes, we are ready to sacrifice for Khalistan.†By that time, journalists had also arrived. The judge then did not announce his sentence. The time for the sentence was set for one hour later at 1pm. When the judge was leaving, I said to him, “My mother and my other relatives are sitting at Shivaji Nagar Courts. Please call them.†The judge then ordered the DSP that my mother and family should be brought and they should not be given any trouble. The judge said, “Until his family arrive, I will not announce the verdict.†The judge then left. Mata jee and the rest of the family couldn’t be found at the courts because they had gone to the Gurdwara. Because of this, they couldn’t come to the sentencing. The judge returned at 2.05pm and began to read the sentencing. At 2.17pm, veer Sukhdev Singh was called to the stand and was awarded the death sentence. He accepted this award with jaikaaray and slogans for Khalistan. Then Nirmal Singh was called to the stand and pronounced not guilty. When the judge was reading his sentencing, his voice was shaking and his hands were trembling. He was having trouble speaking. The judge then called me to the stand. He also gave me the award of death. Just like veer, I too shouted jaikaaray in happiness and shouted slogans for Khalistan and Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. We also thanked him for sending us to the gallows. We then said to the judge, “today is a very happy day for Khalistan. On this, our happiest occasion, we want to throw a party.†The judge replied, “I am very thankful to you. You have helped me very much.†We also thanked the judge. We told the judge that we wanted to meet the Press, but the judge requested that we not do so today but some other time. We agreed. We were then taken back to jail. We came back and began to distribute barfee (Indian sweet). When the people in the jail found out we had been sentenced to death, they didn’t eat it. So we ate it ourselves. After two days, Balwinder Singh and Nirmal Singh went to the court in the bank case and the lawyers told them that the night of the sentencing, the judge could not sleep at all. All night the judge kept calling the lawyers and kept saying he could not sleep because it was the first time he had ever sentenced anyone to hang. “I did not want to sentence them to death. I had no choice. I have affection for them (Jinda and Sukha) from my heart. I have never met such people before. They are very good people. I will put up their photos in my house.†But mother, your sons slept very happily that night. It was just like a farmer sleeps happily after having taken care of his crop. Then that day, in front of everyone, the judge said to Balwinder Singh and Nirmal Singh that he wanted our and their photos because he wanted to put them in his home. The judge said he felt affection for us from his heart. Saying this, the judge began to cry. The lawyers told Nirmal Singh that at first the judge had written a 20 year sentence in the Vaidiya case but when he came to announce his sentence and Harjinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh began to shout Khalistan slogans, and said that they were willing to sacrifice for Khalistan, the judge cut the 20 years and replaced it with death. Because of this, he wanted an extra hour to announce the sentence. The judge was compelled to announce the sentence of death. Today we have ordered a Diwali card for the judge and tomorrow we’ll send it to him. Mother, Father, veer jee, at this happy time, do not feel sad. Mother, remain in chaRdee kalaa just like you were in Poona. What greater happiness can a mother have than for her sons to be executed for their faith? To celebrate this happy moment, ladoos should be given out. Mother, you gave the newspapers in Poona ChaRdee Kalaa statements. Reading those statements, everyone was amazed. Mata jee, only our hearts knows how much happiness we felt after reading your statements. You all should always remain in chaRdee kalaa. This world is a play. Like a performer has put on a show and people see it and feel happy. After a short while, that performance is over. Just like that, the world too is a big show. For a while we see the show but its end does not take long at all. Know it for certain that one who is born will certainly die. Just like night naturally follows the day, death certainly follows life. How long can someone run along a wall? It’s end will eventually come. Like this, life’s limited breaths also finish. Whatever we see in the world, besides God, is transitory. The eternal and life-giving naam-nectar is pouring down everywhere though. But it only falls in the mouths of those who are sanmukh to their Guru. Those who have attached their consciousness to the Guru’s baaNee have their lives become sacred. They are accepted before God. Otherwise Mata jee, we will not appeal to the Supreme Court. You already know about this. I read your statement and was very happy to see you say that you will not appeal to the Supreme Court. If we did, it would not only be our disgrace, but the Panth’s as well. Even if someone asks you to, do not appeal. I am proud of you. Our spirits are with your spirits. Mother, your sons have passed the real test of life. Bhai Jinda also notes how their conviction was based on their own admission. Of the 170 witnesses presented against them, only one managed to recognize Bhai Sukha. The rest were proven to be fakes and liars. The government’s case was a total disaster. Bhai Sukha & Bhai Jinda on Slavery “The end of these evil Gangus is not far now [Gangu was the Brahmin who betrayed Mata Gujri and the Sahibzadas]. We have won. The entire Sikh community has raised its voice against oppression. Whoever fights against oppression has already won. We are not enslaved: we are free because we did not accept slavery. We are fighting enslavement. We may be imprisoned in jails but our hearts and minds are free to recite naam and do ardaas for the chaRdee kalaa of the Panth. These evil Gangus can chain our bodies but they cannot chain our minds. They cannot change our beliefs with their oppression and torture.†We Chose our Shaheedee “If today we face the gallows, do not think that we are being sent there. We are going to the gallows by our own will. Even after accepting responsibility for our actions [killing Vaidiya] we could have easily been acquitted. If we wanted, we could have bought out our death (for only one lakh). But we consider going to the gallows as the best thing for the Panth. Your veers will happily kiss the noose that will hang us. What is this one life? We could give one lakh lives for this cause. For Khalistan, we will shed every drop of our blood and will rest only after having achieved it.†The Final Week The following are excerpts from letters sent by Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda in the final week before their Shaheedee on October 9, 1992. October 2, 1992 That blessed hour which we were awaiting impatiently for such along time , will come at 4am on 9-10-1992. God has been very merciful to us. We consider ourselves very lucky. The preparations for your brothers’ weddings are complete but the world doesn’t know about it [singhs see Shaheedee as a wedding to death]. Look at the fear of these rulers! One day their senior doctor came and said he wanted to weigh us, etc. He measured our height, weight, and neck-span. The next day he came again. We thought perhaps he had found out by now. We said, “Doctor Sahib, what do you come to see every day? We’ll go to the gallows laughing. You’ll be there too. You’ll see, there aren’t many days left now.†The doctor was stunned and swore he had no idea what were talking about. He said no one had told him yet. He then remarked that his presence was necessary at the hanging and that it was necessary for him to be told once the date of the hanging had been set, but he didn’t know why he hadn’t been told yet. We said, “Look at the power of these rulers. Even when they’re going to hang someone, they tremble that no one find out about it.†Beloved brothers, it is very strict here now. We only have four sheets of paper with us and we got those with great difficulty after putting a lot of pressure. They don’t let us write letters to anyone. It is so bad that they haven’t even let us write to our parents about the date being set yet. The date has been finalized for three days now, but no newspaper has been allowed to carry the story.†“Even while imprisoned by the enemy, we wanted to teach them such a lesson that even just seeing a Sikh should make them shake. Quite a while ago, their Defense Minister Sharad Pawar came to the jail. At that time he was Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. He came to our area and we said, “If you give us grief, just think about what will happen to you…†His face went pale and he replied, “No, no trouble will be given to you.†It was during Sharad Pawar’s time in office that Maharashtra’s jails had new yards built, which had iron bars even on top of them to make them like cages. No fresh air could come into them. Lots of regular Sikhs were arrested under TADA and thrown in these yards. None of them had hearings in courts. Seeing all this, it came to our mind that why not get some weapons and while sitting here, teach these dushts a lesson. Lots of other big Ministers used to also come to the jail. During our stay in jail we stayed here with pride and belligerence but the jail officials would harass the regular Sikhs a lot. They tried to commit excesses on us as well. Many times they tried to force us to wear prisoner uniforms, but we refused. We said, “we don’t accept your laws, so why should we wear prisoner’s uniforms?†We used to grab the Jail DIG and Superintendent by the neck and ripped many uniforms and slapped some other officials. We roughed them up with resolution. We humiliated them in every way. We’ve pushed them so far that they start to shake just thinking about coming into our yard. The day the Superintendent told us about our execution date, we said that we wanted to send a telegram to our relatives but he said that he had orders from the top that forget outside people, even within the jail the date was to be kept a secret. He said that he had no choice and that we could swear at him or whatever else, he controlled nothing. He said, “one promise I will make is that I will let you see your family for a final meeting. We replied, “we don’t care about any meeting and these worldly relationships aren’t that important to us. But we’re astonished that you people have fallen from even basic humanity and your rulers are such cowards that they are afraid of even telling our families.†We said a lot of other things and embarrassed the Superintendent. We said, “you have good fortune otherwise even in your custody we would have sown you what happens when you oppress Sikhs. We didn’t have a weapon reach us and you’ve all been shaken to the core, if we got it, then you already know what would have happened.†Brothers, On 22-9-92, our jail was turned into a police cantonment. On all four sides, commandos surrounded us. Our yard itself was surrounded by more than 100 commandos. At that time we were doing paath when suddenly they pounced. The jail DIG, IG (jail), Commissioner of Police Poona, three DSPs and many other officials came. They came to us and said that we should be handcuffed because they wanted to search our cells. We grabbed the DIG and the Superintendent by the necks and began to beat them all. We refused to be handcuffed and said they could search the place but couldn’t touch anything. We would show them ourselves. We said, “if you try to use force, until we have breath in our bodies we will not let you enter our rooms. If you have the strength to take us, come on.†But they quickly accepted our conditions and said that we could show them everything. We knew why they had come. That police officer from whom we had asked for a weapon had been caught because of his misdeeds a couple days ago. The weapon had reached him, but for some reasons he could not get it to us. After the confirmation of the Vaidiya case in the Supreme Court, the jail had become very strict and because of this, he was afraid and his intentions changed. If he wanted, despite the strictness, he could have given it to us. No one comes to our yard and if someone does come, he is searched. But when we are in front of the guard room, the person on duty doesn’t have the courage to search anyone. We used to give the prisoner that cleaned up our yard letters we wanted taken out. That officer had the job of pressing clothes and we used to send that prisoner to him [to find out about the weapon]. The prisoner knew everything and was even ready to bring it for us because we had given him some money. But we’ve found the truth now about why the police officer wasn’t giving the weapon to us. He had given the weapon to some thug who began to commit robberies with it and when he was caught, spilled everything. That police officer is now in remand. He has turned in four others from the jail who are also in remand. The newspapers were telling this story with extra zest and were saying that if Sukha and Jinda got the weapon, they would have escaped from jail. But this is not the case. We had a big dusht in our sights and we think we would have been successful. If we weren’t, the jail’s DIG, Superintendent along with the deputy and senior jailer weren’t going anywhere. We could’ve punished them any time we wanted. The original DIG and Superintendent were alright with us but ever since these new ones have come, we humiliated them to the limit but they still wouldn’t stop trying to do lowly things. It’s because of this that we had thought about punishing them. Nowadays, the atmosphere in the jail is very changed. Poona Police along with the MRP and other agencies have taken control of the jail. Besides the Superintendent, everyone is very badly searched. They don’t even let a bird come to our yard. All the work that prisoners used to come and do like sweeping, etc. is now done by police officers. The officers and the Hawaldars have been given fixed duties and no new police officer ever comes. Ever since the commandos searched our cells, everyone, including the Superintendent, is afraid of coming to our yard. If someone does come, it is with special arrangements and they are still very afraid. Since that day, quite a few big officers from the agencies came but they didn’t have the courage to come into the yard. They stayed behind the bars. We said that we wouldn’t harm them and they should come in, but no…Now we have said that we won’t speak to anybody. Now no one comes. One DIG said, what interrogation do you think we’re here to do? We just come to see you. We asked, “What do you think after seeing us?†He stayed quiet for a moment and then we asked, “You don’t see any fear on our faces do you?†He said no. We said, “come see on our final day. We’ll be laughing just like this.†Bhai Sukha & Bhai Nirmal Singh October 3, 1992 We don’t know why the jailers have taken a hating to our clothes. Today they came again with 20 or 25 police officers along with the jail’s DIG. We were stubborn and said “Who’s going to come forward first?†They want that we should be hung while wearing prisoner’s uniforms. But we will try to go while wearing kesri dastaars, cholas and kacherras. We have full faith in Satguru jee that our wish will be certainly fulfilled. Today the police DSP came and asked for a kaRa as a momento. We said “We’ll give you the kaRa, but then you’re going to have to do good things with your hands.†He replied, “I already do good things.†Two inspectors also took kaRas. Today we’ve locked down early. Otherwise for the past few days we used to lock up at 11 or 12 because the jail officials would cause some problem and we’d refuse to be locked up. Until today, we’ve broken about 80 tube-lights in our yard, along with four cameras which used to always show on jail TVs what was going on. One night, we refused to be locked up and it was 10pm. Veer Harjinder Singh began to read the newspaper. I said, “what have you grabbed the newspaper for? Let’s talk. After all, how many days are left now? Veer replied, “We went into the struggle together, have stayed together in jail and ahead too…†October 4, 1992 “The battle for Khalistan is different from all other wars that have been fought or wars or movements that are being fought now. This is because other struggles are based on worldly values while our war is based on truth and freedom for the individual. The struggle for Khalistan is not just political or subscribed to worldly values, it is truly a dharam-yudh. We color ourselves with Dharam before going into battle and our only support is Akaal Purakh. The Sikhi principles for which we have started this dharam yudh are beloved to us. We don’t want to achieve any worldly kingship that forces us to lose our dharam. Any such Khalistan which is devoid of the colour of Dharam and which was established by abandoning our faith will be suicidal for the Sikhs.†“For our principles, we must fight a war that has a high character. For those who travel this path, it is essential that they have a very high character. The right to punish a dusht only goes to that Gurmukh who’s own life and character is much higher than that dusht. Only by traveling on these lines will Satguru jee have mercy on us. We have no strength of our own. Akaal Purakh will only give us power and strength if we stay within the divine principles [of Sikhi]. October 5, 1992 Beloved veers, yesterday they were asking your brothers about our final wishes. We aid, “if you have the courage to fulfill the final wishes of us Khalistanis, then we want that we should be hung in front of the entire world so that people know how Sikhs go laughingly to the gallows for the sake of truth and dharam.†We’ve written this down for them too. Yesterday the newspapers carried news of our execution date, that too was because of the Supreme Court. They [jail officials] had wanted that the world find out only after the hanging. No one has come to meet us yet. Perhaps they haven’t sent out a telegram yet. From Bhai Jinda: I just finished doing paath. Sukhdev veer is in front of me, lying in his room reading the newspaper. We sent messages for you all to come meet us, I don’t know if they sent them out or not. Today, because of Dussehra, it was a holiday in the jail. Lock down took place a bit early today, but we always lock down when we feel like it. The past couple weeks have been very tense. Every day we locked down about four or five hours late, so about 11pm. No one even had the courage to come tell us to lock down. We used to lock down ourselves when we used to think that the guards were hungry and thirsty for the whole day and also, we used to start to feel sleepy. The Superintendent and the rest of the staff used to stay until we locked down. October 6, 1992 Let me tell you what happened today. I was doing paath from the gutka at around noon time when a call came from the guard room, “Sardar jee, Sat Sri Akaal!†They then called for me to come near. Sukhdev veer had fallen asleep while doing paath. When I came near the guardroom, the DSP and the IG from the CBI were standing there. The DSP laughed and said, “Jinda jee, your face is beginning to glow more and more!†I replied, “This is because of Satguru’s blessings. Come look on the day of the hanging, it will glow even more.†The CBI’s IG had met me before in Naasak Jail. I asked why he had come and he said that he just thought he’d ask how we were doing. We talked for quite some time. After awhile, Sukha veer also came. The IG said, “You are brave. Even after being so close to death, there is no sign of fear on your faces. There is in fact a glow.†I laughed and said, “Otherwise you call us extremists and terrorists, and today you are calling us brave?†The IG then replied, “You too have some reason for which you are going to the gallows with laughter. We can say whatever we want about you, you are still lions.†When leaving, he spoke very warmly and said, “I will pray for you.†I said, “Don’t pray just for us, pray for the well being of everyone.†A lot of things were said, but because I don’t have enough paper, I can’t write them down. Mother, Father, your sons have been greatly blessed by Satguru jee. Today even death is afraid of your sons. We feel a weird sensation of happiness and consider ourselves very lucky that Satguru jee has given us so many blessings. Mother, I think about you and feel so proud that I have received a godly mother with whose teachings I have now reached my goal in life. It is my ardaas that in every life, I stay your son. Mother, Father, always stay in chaRdee kalaa and meditate on naam. I am proud of my entire family. Only two days remain until the hanging and I don’t know if you will reach Poona or not. It seems that we’ll only be able to meet only once on the last day. It doesn’t matter. God has given us many meetings already. Even if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t matter. The entire family, relatives and those in our town should stay in chaRdee kalaa and keeping japping naam. Sukhdev veer is also writing a letter. Outside it is raining a bit. It is really beautiful weather. Now let me tell you something funny. Yesterday or the day before, the jailer came and asked in a quiet voice, “What is your final wish?†I replied with a laugh, “hang the Superintendent in my placeâ€. He laughed very hard. I told two jokes to the IG as well. One was the Superintendent one and the other was this: someone sentenced to hang is asked his final wish and he says, “I want to eat a cantaloupe.†They reply, “it’s not the season for cantaloupes…†the prisoner then says, “That’s ok, I can wait…†October 6, 1992 It’s nine at night. We haven’t locked up yet. All the officers are sitting outside, cross-legged. I want to send everyone a separate letter, but there isn’t enough time and our paper has run out. The jail officials won’t let us send letters either. They took away all the paper. Even our pen and paper look like AK 47s to them. Here, these people’s sleep has been ruined. Everyone is terrified, but with all your ardaases and Satguru jee’s blessings, we are roaring [like lions]. That great hour which we have been awaiting will come on 9-10-1992 at 4AM. We can’t control our excitement. We were talking to the jail officials just now about you. We said, “everyone must have arrived by now, but you haven’t let us meet them.†There isn’t anything called humanity in these people. The souls of Chandoo and Gangu are live in them. We haven’t locked up, but we’re still sitting inside. Veer Harjinder Singh is also writing a letter. It’s raining a bit. Before it was raining quite hard. No one should feel sad at our Shaheedee. This is a happy moment for all of us and we’ve prepared boondee [indian sweet] to distribute in celebration. We’ve always got so much love from all of you. It is because of all your ardaases that today we are in total chaRdee kalaa. October 7, 1992 Last night I stopped my letter in between. We locked up at twelve last night. I took my bedding outside and veer said, “you sleep, I’ll keep guard.†At 11pm, the Superintendent and his other people came. Veer got angry and like wrestler took his chola off and got ready. He grabbed the Deputy Superintendent by the neck and roughed everyone up pretty badly. We said, “we don’t care about the meetings, but we didn’t think you all would fall so much. You are such cowards. Your treachery and excesses are the reason we are fighting. We have never bowed and will never bow in the future. Look at your humanity, in the end, you have even stopped letting us meet Nirmal Singh.†We started to feel sleepy, so we locked up by our own will at 12. Say Fateh to our aunts from Jandiala and RaNa. Veer has come up to stand by the bars and his eyes have fallen on this letter as well. Now, with a load of love, let us end this letter. Forgive our faults. Your own, Sukhdev Singh, Harjinder Singh 7-10-1992. October 8, 1992 Bhai Jinda and Bhai Sukha did not write any further. From 10am till 10pm on October 8th, they met with their families. During these meetings, they showed no fear at all. In fact, they were happier than usual. They forcefully told their family that after their Shaheedee, no one should try to take political advantage and no one should build a memorial or Gurdwara for them. Bhai Jinda’s mother asked the girl family members who came to do a gidhaa as her son was going to be married tomorrow. Before leaving, Bhai Jinda’s mother took her son’s face in her hands and said, “Wherever you go, be happy. And know that I am proud of you.†She did not cry. Her face was red with emotion. From 10pm until 12 am Bhai Jinda and Bhai Sukha rested. Bhai Jinda's Family Being Honoured Day of Hanging Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda woke up at 12am. The bathed and until 3am they did paath. They had prepared some dahee(n) (yogourt) which they then ate along with one apple each. They then did their final ardaas and keertan sohila paath. They dressed in white cholas with kesri dastaars and kamarkassas. Bhai Jinda shook hands with the jail officials and thanked them for keeping them for 5 years. Bhai Sukha and Jinda also asked about their 30+ relatives who were in Poona. When they were lead to the gallows, they shouted jaikaaras. They walked with long strides. Bhai Nirmal Singh who was in a cell near the gallows also replied to the jaikaraas. The two Singhs climbed the gallows with smiles. They had wanted to bring sweets for the executioners, but perhaps they were not allowed. They kissed their nooses and even though they wanted to put them around their own necks, were not allowed to do so. The time had come and according to Bhai Nirmal Singh, Bhai Jinda shouted loudly to Bhai Sukha, “Veer Sukhiaa! Roar a Fateh!†He then heard jaikaraas. And then they stopped. Short Biography of Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda & Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha Bhai Harjinder Singh jee’s mother and father, Bhai Gulzar Singh and Bibi Gurnam Kaur are hardworking and honest Gursikhs. Bhai Jinda had two older brothers, Bhai Nirbhail Singh and Bhai Bhupinder Singh and one sister, Bibi Balvinder Kaur. Bhai Sahib was born in 1961 and received his early education in his village of Gadli in dist. Amritsar. After completing his early education, he enrolled in Khalsa College Amritsar. He was in BA part II when the 1984 attack occurred. Like every other Sikh, Bhai Jinda’s blood boiled at the news. He left his studies and joined the Sikh movement. When the Darbar Sahib complex was under army control, he along with other Sikhs from his village marched to free it, but the armies attacks and abuse on the way forced them to return home. Bhai Harjinder Singh then went to his maternal grandparents’ home in Baiee Chak, Sree Ganganagar Rajasthan. Along with his cousin, Baljinder Singh Rajoo and his friend Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha, they decided to take revenge for the disrespect shown to the Gurdwaras. Bhai Rajoo was arrested by the police and was horribly tortured. Hearing about this, Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda were even more enraged. Bhai Sukhdev Singh was born in Rajasthan’s Chak N: 11 in Ganganagar. His parents, Bhai Mengha Singh and Bibi Surjeet Kaur were farmers and amritdhari Gursikhs. Bhai Sukha received the gift of Sikh in his heritage. Along with his schooling he daily used to study GurbaaNee. After doing his early schooling in village Manakpur, he received his BA from Gian Joti College and was studying for an MA in English when the 1984 attack occurred. Bhai Sukh left his home and made plans to take revenge. He joined with his friend Bhai Rajoo to avenge the disrespect of the Sikhs. He then met with Bhai Jinda. All three had faith in baaNee and Sikhee. Bhai Sukha’s mother was so filled with love for the Panth, that she did ardaas that Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda achieve their mission. She gave her sons over to the Guru. Bhai Jinda and Bhai Sukha made Delhi the center of their activities. Delhi was where the 1984 pogroms had taken place. The government began to broadcast the pictures of these Singhs on TV and the killers who had taken part in the November massacre were afraid to leave their houses. At one point, Bhai Jinda was arrested by the Delhi police, but managed to escape from Ahmedabad jail. Bhai Sukha and Bhai Jinda then decided to punish the general who had planned the 1984 Darbar Sahib attack: Gen. Vaidiya. After retiring from the army, Vaidiya had moved to Poona. Bhai Jinda and Bhai Sukha had reunited in Punjab and went to Poona together. They arrived on August 17, 1986. They went to the house that Vaidiya was living at, to find he had moved. They asked the servant in the house where Vaidiya had moved to but he wasn’t clear and they had trouble understanding his language. They went in the general direction and a couple days later saw Vaidiya’s guard outside the house. They began to make regular rounds to find when Vaidiya would come out. On August 19, 1986 at around 11am, they saw Vaidiya’s wife come out with an umbrella and the General followed. Vaidiya himself was driving the car. He went to the bazaar and bought some things. Bhai Jinda and Bhai Sukha were on a motorcycle following them. When Vaidiya was returning home after shopping, Bhai Jinda pulled the motorcycle beside the car and Bhai Sukha began to shoot. Vaidiya’s head hit the wheel and his head was bleeding. The Singhs shouted jaikaaray and made their getaway. The Singhs had also wanted to kill Gen. Dayal, another officer responsible for the attack, but decided now was not the time. They returned to the house they had rented, changed clothes and took a bus to Bombay. From there, they went to Durg and then Calcutta by train. On September 17, 1986, Bhai Sukha returned to Poona to get their weapons that were left there. He along with another Singh got into an accident with a truck and were arrested. They were tortured for five months and then for a year and a half were kept in leg irons. A year later, Bhai Jinda and Bhai Satnam Singh Bawa were arrested from Delhi at Gurdwara Majnoo Daa Tilla. Bhai Jinda was shot in the legs so he couldn’t walk. They tried to cut his leg off as well but a Bengali doctor refused to allow this. Bhai Jinda was tortured for 4 months and then taken to Poona. Bhai Bawa was given to the Punjab police who then killed him. In Poona, Bhai Sukha and the other Singhs had finished doing Ardaas after Rehraas Sahib, and then shouted Jaikaaray. Bhai Jinda was in a nearby cell and a also shouted jaikaaray. Bhai Jinda had recognized Bhai Sukha’s voice. Finally the two had been reunited.
