  1. Thank Bhaji I have tried egg replacers but I will try this one.
  2. Sorry a bit off tangent. I have tried to make eggless sponge cake a number of times, using silken tofu, flaxseed, even ripe bananas but to no avail. Either cake does not rise, well it never rises, or it is stodgy and heavy. I have eaten eggless cakes that are light and fluffy. What do we use as replacement for the binding qualities of eggs ? How to make it rise?
  3. Puzzled bhaji/benji, When one tries to make plans, especially towards Guru Sahib Ji, and if we say "I am going to do this" "I am going to do that" "I will make plans" "I will do 5 japji Sahibs" one is to fail, for sure. We did not take Guru Ji with us when we made the plans. How can we succeed when we did not involve Guru Ji in our plans? Me made the plans without Him. The way is to first do ardass to Guru Ji and humbly and with nimarta ask Guru Ji to assist us in our endeavours. At the end of the day it is Guru Ji who is going to do everything so why not ask them in the first place? When Daropadi was being disrobed in full court she pleaded with her husbands but none lifted their heads, she pleaded with the sages and rishis who were also sat in the court but none helped, she pleaded with the generals but none came forth. The clothes were removed and the last corner she bit on with her teeth in a vain attempt to keep her modesty , she still trusted her own wit. It was at this time she called out to Bhagwan Krishan Maharaj, no sooner had she done so that the cloth extended and became endless. It piled up higher and higher and Bhagwan Ji kept her modesty. Bhagwan Ji said "Daropdi, even at the very end you tired to hold on to your clothes through your own efforts but to no avail, no sooner had you uttered my name I was there for you." Guru Ji is there for you at all times we just need to make the call. With Guru Ji at your side you cannot fail, it may take time and effort but ultimately you cannot fail.
  4. Well British Raj ended a while ago and I do not see Sikhism destroyed. What I do see is the missionary types who are leading us away from our Guru and gurmat and taking us towards manmat. Don't worry Bhaji your help is not needed I would rather rely on Guru Ji.
  5. Aasaa, Kabeer Jee, 9 Panch-Paday, 5 Du-Tukay: One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: You tear off the leaves, O gardener, but in each and every leaf, there is life. That stone idol, for which you tear off those leaves - that stone idol is lifeless. ||1|| In this, you are mistaken, O gardener. The True Guru is the Living Lord. ||1||Pause|| Brahma is in the leaves, Vishnu is in the branches, and Shiva is in the flowers. When you break these three gods, whose service are you performing? ||2|| The sculptor carves the stone and fashions it into an idol, placing his feet upon its chest. If this stone god was true, it would devour the sculptor for this! ||3|| Rice and beans, candies, cakes and cookies - the priest enjoys these, while he puts ashes into the mouth of the idol. ||4|| The gardener is mistaken, and the world is mistaken, but I am not mistaken. Says Kabeer, the Lord preserves me; the Lord, my King, has showered His Blessings upon me. ||5||1||14|| If you take the trouble to read the shabad you will see that Guru Ji is saying that the flowers are being picked for an idol but the idol cannot give you anything back. What I said was that a flower picked would get mukat when showered over the true living Guru. You get the difference ?
  6. Who is all that hundreds of gallons of milk used for in Darbar Sahib? it is for the millions who visit every year. If flowers have life then what better way to end it by being showered over your Guru?
  7. Bhaji, you think that Guru Ji does not know about His hungry children? You think Guru Ji relies on us to feed His hungry children? Who put His hungry children on this world? Why were His hungry children put on this world? This is not to say we do nothing, of course we do but there is nothing greater than your Guru. You do not buy a ramalla, what point is that? You buy the cloth, and then sew the ramalla with your own hands. Then you wash the ramalla and iron it. If at any point it touches the floor you wash it and iron it again. Then you take it to your Guru and with all the love in your heart present it with humility, you gonna stop doing your adhav and satkaar of Guru Ji because of others? Let them do what they do.
  8. Do you do this when you are buying a present for your wife? Do you intend to spend £100 on her present and then just spend £20 and give the other £80 to feed the poor? Do you spend money on your mother/father/children and then spend a fraction of it and the rest goes to the poor? If you don't then why not start at home first and then talk about your Guru. Sangat ji when you intend to spend money for your Guru remember where that maya has come from, never squeeze your pocket, never look at the price, spend on your Guru with eyes closed. Then see what your Guru gives back.
  9. How sad that on a thread regarding Banda Singh Ji within two posts all the negative/incorrect aspects of Banda Ji are brought up again. Banda Singh was a TRUE son of Guru Gobind Singh Ji , it is said that Guru Ji was about to give Banda Singh Ji His own siri sahib but the likes of Binod Singh grabbed the siri sahib saying this belongs to the Khalsa panth. It was the will of the Guru to give Banda Singh Ji His siri-sahib how sad that the Sikhs opposed their own Guru. The Sikhs would say "Khalsa dhi fateh", Baba Banda Singh Ji would say "Guru dhi fetah". There is rubbish that has been written about Banda Singh Ji I do not believe a word of it. Do you have any idea how oppressive the musallay were at the time? Wedding used to take place in the middle of the night because if the mohgals got wind of it they would come and take off with the bride, anywhere they was a sadhu they would behead, this disease needed to be cut out. All his life he had waited for Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Guru Ji specifically went looking for him, finding him near Nanded. Baba Banda Singh Ji was a Mahan Mahapursh and a Mahan yodha the likes of which we may never see again. Forget any negativity and Rememeber him as a true mahapursh in your adrass's in the morning and you will get great blessings from your Guru.
  10. Panna 128 Then the Lord created Mahadin (Prophet Mohammed), And made him the Emperor of the Arabian Peninsula. (26) He, too, created a path (Islam-religion), And made all the kings remove the foreskin of their phalluses (for circumcision). He induced all and sundry to recite his name, And did not instil the True, Eternal Name of the Lord in any one.(27) All (the religious Preceptors) got entangled in their own dogmas. No one comprehended the Transcendent One. I was absorbed in His austere meditation when the Lord called me. Having uttered the following words, He sent me to this world.(28) The Immortal Lord (Purusha) spoke:
  11. Once Bhai Bala Ji went to see Guru Angad Dev Ji, after mutha-take and discussions Bhai Bala asked Guru Ji "How did you see Guru Nanak Dev Ji?" Guru Ji replied "I saw them as roop of Parbraham Parmaswar" Bala Ji said "and you have now become that roop." Guru Ji smiled, "Bala Ji how did you see Guru Nanak Dev Ji ?" Bala Ji said "I regarded Guru Ji as a great sant" Guru said "And do not the sangat now call you Sant?" "Yes" replied Bhai Bala. However you see your Guru that is where you will reach. If you see Guru Ji just as a great teacher then that is the level you will reach. Guru Angad Dev Ji did single minded intense sewa of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and at the end only they were left as one by one all of Guru Jis sevaks fell by the wayside. Bhai Lehna Ji regarded Guru Nanak as Parbraham and so in the roop of Guru Anagad Dev Ji became roop of Parbraham . Baba Banda Singh Bahadur had immense shakti and if you think about it how could they not? They had done intense tapasia all their life and Guru Gobind Singh Ji themselves went looking for him. He took amrit and was personally blessed by Guru Ji. So impressed was Guru Ji by Banda Singh that they were willing to give their own siri-sahib to him. Through his tapasia Banda Singh was malik of 64 vidhias these included walking on water, being unaffected by fire, levitation, to name but a few. Yet at the end Baba Ji knew what was coming but still submitted to the will of AkalPurkh and did not use any of his powers to escape. Baba Ji was a true son of Guru Gobind Singh Ji remember him in your daily ardas and you receive great blessings.
  12. Khalsa Ji, we ourselves cannot do anything, nothing is in our hands, all is AkaalPurkhs kirpa. Why do we suffer ? As long as we follow Guru Ji we are fine, as soon as we include "Meh" in the equation that is when things start going wrong, as soon as our ego kicks in and we say that "we did this" "we did that" then Guru Ji takes a step back and says "Okay Puttra do it then!" and then in the long run we fail. This is a long game so take it steady and build your foundation slowly and steadily. Always remember that you can falter at any time. Great Rishis/Munies have failed so who are we? We make mistakes and we make them all the time only Guru Ji is above this, so do not cut your self up so much. When you falter do adrass and ask forgiveness and move on, there is no guilt factor. Yes you will feel bad as you have been doing so well but take a look at yourself, were you going into ego was hunkar creeping in ? the you will trip up of course because your Guru wants to make you pure and everytime you take a wrong step then you will fall this is so that next time you will be more careful. Everything happens for a reason. After a month maybe you thought you were doing really great - amritwell, paath , naam, simran, sewa - WRONG! Never think you are great, become ZERO. Become lowest of the low. See that drunk walking along the street think you are lower then him, only through nimarta will you progress. Get one thought of hunkaar and you will fall. Pick yourself up do ardass and carry one - ONE DAY YOU WILL REACH YOUR DESTINATION, but you must carry on on your path. Two things : 1 Take it easy, this is not a sprint, this is a path that you have followed for many lifetimes and there may be many more to get through, so take it easy and do as much as you can sustain but you mustn't cut yourself away from the world, you have to engage with the worls also. 2. and most importantly, if you walk with your Guru you will succeed, if you try to do it yourself you will fail. Every day do ardaas/benti to Guru Gobind Singh Ji that they help you in your endeavour only then will you succeed. If you decide to get up at amritwell, if you decide to do paath , if you decide to do naam/simran ultimately you will fail. See Him in all and take His hand and carry on through thick and thin.
  13. Thanks bhaji. Guru Ji's kirpa I do this just as a hobby
  14. On another thread someone posted this : <<<< Not denying but increasing from that point , we are allowed to sing His bani but why don't we ? and why do committee types freak out when it happens ? >>> It got me thinking, without it being a thread of just nindhya, what specifically are the kinds of rules and restrictions the committees of our Gurdwaras impose? 1. We know they pick up money that the sangat has donated to raggies - daylight robbery. 2. If raggies do parchar of Amrit and becoming Khalsa, many committees do not like this and will pull the raggies to one side and tell them not to do this kind of parchar on stage.
  15. Yet every time, at least three times a day, when they do ardass they start by reciting gurbani from Dasam Granth Sahib Ji !
  16. Sarangi has no frets so it takes ages to learn to find the correct position of the notes. Also on sarangi have to find the notes by the edge of your nail so quite hard to learn. Dilruba has frets and you pick out the notes by just pressing behind each fret to easier to learn.
  17. This is much needed sewa bhaji, all the best in this sewa hope you go from strength to strength.
