Khurum Raziq and Nasar Hussain jailed for sexual abuse in Kirklees
27th MayTwo men who sexually abused a vulnerable young girl and "ripped away" her childhood have been jailed for a combined 40 years.
Khurum Raziq, 40, from Heckmondwike, and Nasar Hussain, 44, from Dewsbury, were sentenced at Leeds Crown Court today (Friday).
The men were found guilty of multiple rape offences against a female victim in the Heckmondwike and North Kirklees areas.
Raziq was sentenced to 22 years after being found guilty of eight offences of rape.
Hussain was sentenced to 18 years after being found guilty of three rape offences.
DCI Ian Thornes of Kirklees CID said: “The victim in this case was a young girl with a completely normal life whose childhood was ripped away from the moment she was first introduced to Khurum Raziq.
“That contact led her to be being lured into a world in which she was thoroughly abused and exploited by predatory males who treated her in the most appalling fashion."
He added: “We welcome the strong sentences given to these men and want to commend the bravery of the victim in this case.
“By supporting a prosecution and giving evidence she has forced these men to answer for what they did and played her part in making it clear that those involved in the sexual abuse of young females will be brought to justice and receive lengthy sentences.
“We continue to urge victims to come forwards and can promise all reports will be thoroughly and sensitively investigated.”

Allahabad HC denies bail to 34 cops accused of killing 10 Sikhs in 1991
Bench observed that the cops had indulged in a barbaric and inhuman killing of innocent persons by calling them terrorists
Prayagraj: In a significant order, the Allahabad High Court has denied bail to 34 constables of the Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) who have been accused of killing 10 Sikh men in an alleged fake encounter in 1991, treating them as terrorists.The bench of Justices Ramesh Sinha and Brij Raj Singh observed that the accused cops had indulged in a barbaric and inhuman killing of innocent persons by calling them terrorists.
“Besides, if some of the deceased were involved in anti-social activities and criminal cases were registered against them, then too, procedure established by law should have been adhered to, to bring them to task and not indulging in such a barbaric and inhuman killing of the innocent persons.”
The court listed the criminal appeal of accused filed challenging their conviction, for a final hearing on July 25.
As per the prosecution case, on July 12, 1991, a bus containing passengers/pilgrims was stopped near Pilibhit by a team of Uttar Pradesh Police of district Pilibhit (appellants). They brought down 10-11 Sikh youths from the bus, boarded them in their blue police bus and some police personnel sat in the bus along with the remaining passengers/pilgrims.
Thereafter, the remaining passengers/pilgrims kept roaming the pilgrims’ bus the whole day here and there with the police personnel and after that, the policemen left the bus in a Gurudwara in Pilibhit at night, whereas 10 Sikh youths, who were alighted from the pilgrims’ bus, were killed by the police.
The 11th one was a child whose whereabouts could not be traced out and his parents were given compensation by the state.
Initially, the investigation of the incident was conducted by the local police of district Pilibhit, and a closure report was filed by the local police. However, the Supreme Court entrusted the investigation of the incidents relating to the encounter to the CBI.

Sewa Badial killed his wife with machete in murder-suicide at Coventry home

The couple ran the Badial store in the Handsworth area of BirminghamAn 87-year-old man killed his wife at their home in Coventry before setting himself alight in their garden, an inquest has heard.
Sewa Singh Badial attacked his wife Sukhjit, 73, with a type of machete last June, causing extensive wounds to her head and face.
He left a note saying there had been a fight between them and he had hit her.
Coventry coroner Delroy Henry recorded that Mr Badial unlawfully killed his wife before taking his own life.
The couple ran the long-established Badial clothes store on Soho Road in Handsworth, Birmingham.
Farewell note
Mrs Badial's body was found in the living of their home on Kenilworth Road in the city on 29 June, the inquest in Coventry heard earlier this month.
She had suffered a number of chop wounds to her upper body and limbs which were described as "defensive actions to ward off a bladed implement".
A large billhook (a garden machete), was found by her body, along with a wrench, which was also used to hit her with, the inquest heard.
She died of head and facial injuries.
Mr Badial was seen on CCTV at the home to walk out of the house wearing blood stained clothes. He was found on a fire pit in the garden.
His cause of death was from the effects of fire, the coroner said.
A farewell note written by him was found on a chair in the living room stating there had been a fight between them. He admitted hitting Mrs Badial and that he would end his life for his family.
At the time of their deaths, the couple's family said they had been "overwhelmed by your messages of love and affection for our dear parents".
They said they were "keen supporters of good causes and committed members of the local Midlands community" and in India had also founded rural hospitals along with several schools and colleges for underprivileged girls.

I think she's just a 'liberal' . This has resulted from poor upbringing /failure to teach Sikh values by her parents. She should not identify herself as a Sikh.

A sex offender tricked three women into forming relationships by pretending to be a man and using a prosthetic <banned word filter activated> without their knowledge while having sex with them. Tarjit Singh, 32, had abusive relationships with the women between and was accused of becoming manipulative once his partners started to ask questions.
Born as a female, named Hannah Walters, Singh, 32, now identifies as a trans male. During the course of the relationships between June 2010 and March 2016, Singh insisted on having sex in the dark and keep clothes on so they would not notice the strap on prosthetic <banned word filter activated>.
Jurors heard that one victim was only 16 when she first met Singh, and the three women were intimidated into continuing their relationships. One victim only discovered that Singh was not a man after finding the strap-on prosthetic several months into their relationship, and told officers that she felt so stupid for believing such lies. Another victim described their sexual relationship as: “He looked like a guy, he acted like a guy”.

Prosecutor Peter Shaw said Khan drove the victim away from the scene and "subjected her to various rapes and sexual assaults".
A relative who had gone to pick her up spent an hour trying to find her and eventually picked her up at about 23:00 BST after Khan had let her go, the court heard.

Chesham man jailed for kidnapping and raping teen in Hemel Hempstead
A fast food delivery driver who kidnapped and raped a 17-year-old girl has been jailed for 15 years.
Mohammed Khan, 37, "bundled" the girl into his car while she was waiting to be picked up from a night out in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, in August.
Khan, of Upper Meadow in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, was convicted of kidnap, two charges of rape and one of sexual penetration.
Judge Lynn Tayton QC described him as a "highly dangerous man".
Luton Crown Court heard that Khan had "specifically targeted" the teenager, who had been out with friends on 28 August.
"She was a vulnerable young woman who was lying on a pavement," the judge said.
"She had been drinking and as a result she was slipping in and out of consciousness."
'Opportunistic sex offender'
Khan denied any sexual contact and said he was acting as a Good Samaritan, but his DNA was found inside the victim's jogging trousers.
In a victim personal statement the girl said she no longer felt safe when she was out and she spends more time at home due to her anxiety.
Mr Shaw said Khan had "a record of approaching young girls".
"The present case reveals he is an opportunistic sex offender who will prey on vulnerable girls or women," he said.
The judge said: "A significant number of females have alleged sexual and predatory behaviour by you.
"I take the view you are a highly dangerous man."
As well as a 15-year prison sentence, Khan must also serve an eight-year licence extension, register as a sex offender and abide by the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.

A nursing lecturer has been struck off after repeatedly mocking his Sikh colleague's turban.
Maurice Slaven, a child nursing lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, repeatedly degraded his colleague's traditional headdress as a 'hat' and a 'bandage' and referred to Sikhs as 'you lot'.
Mr Slaven has now been stripped of his nursing licence by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - ending a 22-year career for the former RAF man.
The former nurse had worked at NHS hospitals in the past and mocked the founder of the Sikh religion Guru Nanak.
Cambridge-based Slaven is understood to have qualified as a children's nurse in 1997 in Edinburgh.
He racially harassed 'Colleague 1', a senior nursing lecturer, at Anglia Ruskin University for over two years between October 2016 and December 2018, the NMC tribunal heard.
The offensive lecturer, who has worked at NHS hospitals across the country, claimed it was 'banter between friends'.
Referring to Colleague 1's turban, Slaven said 'why aren't you wearing your bandage?' and also asked 'where's your hat?', before insisting 'no, it's a hat' when his co-worker corrected him.
Slaven told Colleague 1 'you seem to take all the religious holidays off, and even Christmas and that's not your holiday' and 'you lot, Sikhs, have all these religious holidays'.
When discussing a charity appeal for toys for Sikh children, Slaven said: 'What Sikh Toys? Do you mean daggers, knives and swords?'
He once stated: 'Me and Guru Nanak are best buddies, I know him really well and he said he'll be dressing up as Father Christmas this year.'
He also once remarked 'Indians came to the UK in a banana boat'.
Slaven admitted the charges but did not attend the hearing.
A tribunal report said: '[The NMC] considered the misconduct to be serious because Mr Slaven was in a position of trust teaching future nursing professionals.
'He was required to be a role model for students and staff, and his behaviour towards Colleague 1 represented a significant departure from the standards expected of a nurse.
'Mr Slaven held a position of influence over future nurses.
'Colleague 1 expressed fear for 'ethnic minority students who could be unfavoured by him in terms of teaching'.'
On an online profile for Slaven on the Anglia Ruskin University website, it states one of his research interests is investigating religion and death.

A Labour MP dubbed 'Catfish Khalid' because he 'stalked' women online has been accused of firing his aide and ex-lover after she made allegations against a colleague.
Elaina Cohen claims that Birmingham Perry Barr MP Khalid Mahmood was a 'racist bully' who ended their relationship when she refused to become his second wife.
She says she was sacked after raising allegations that he was protecting a criminal abuser, a tribunal has been told.

She claims the relationship ended after she refused to become Mr Mahmood's second wife with an Islamic nikah [marriage ceremony].
The Times reported that she said: 'Khalid had misled me into believing his previous marriages were dissolved but I discovered in 2005 this was a lie.
'I was distraught at his false promises of marriage to two women at the same time.'
The 62-year-old continued to work for Mr Mahmood, when in February 2018 he saw a whistleblower on a news report about a Midlands domestic abuse charity.
The woman was Saraya Hussain, who Mr Mahmood soon after employed.

After she said he began 'ghosting' her and only communicated by email or WhatsApp.
Ms Hussain worked for the Amirah Foundation, which closed amid allegations of 'financial irregularities' in 2018.
It had been set up to to help victims of domestic abuse, particularly for women in the Muslim community.
A statement from the charity’s trustees said an investigation 'discovered that both the CEO and Chair of Trustees were explicitly implicated' and the charity closed shortly after.
Ms Cohen, who is Jewish, said she found that Ms Hussain had posted antisemitic messages on Facebook.
Mr Mahmood allegedly downplayed this as they were not posted on an account with her professional name.
Ms Cohen wrote: 'I was offended that he thought so little of me as a Jewish employee that he would not ask Hussain for the posts to be removed.'
She reported the incident to police who recorded it as a non-crime hate incident.
Cohen said that when she raised her concerns to senior Labour party members, she was ignored.
Whatsapp messages were read out to the court in which Ms Cohen referred to Mr Mahmood as 'spiteful', a 'womaniser' and 'stupid'.
She said some of the messages raised highlighted the ‘humorous banter’ between the pair.
Counsel for Mahmood questioned why Ms Cohen should want to continue to work with the MP, she said she had hoped that he would improve.
She said she was there to protect the vulnerable women who had told her they had been abused and not because she had a 'vendetta against Saraya Hussain'.
The hearing at the London Central Employment Tribunal continues.

A grooming gang which inflicted a two-year rape ordeal on a girl received £435,643 in legal aid.
Eight paedophiles drove the drugged teen to parks, flats and isolated spots where they raped her from the age of 14.
he gang was found guilty on 23 counts of rape and jail terms totalling 78 years have so far been handed out.
But the cost of convicting them has triggered outrage.
David Spencer, from the Centre of Crime Prevention, said: “It is staggering that anyone would think that this is the best use of nearly half a million pounds of taxpayers money.

A Freedom of Information request revealed the legal aid bill for six men – Barber Hussain, 36, Nazir Khan, 30, Omar Safdar, 30, Kamran Hussain, 29, Hassan Basharat, 32, and Imran Sabir, 42.
Some £200,888 went to solicitors, £234,755 to other lawyers and Khan accounted for £92,000 of the costs.
Bradford crown court heard of systematic abuse as the girl was drugged and plied with drink in Keighley, West Yorks.
