I've often heard at the gurdwara during ardaas the granthi saying that the 4 pehars of the day went with your blessings and may the same be for the 4 pehars of the night.   12. Sorry it took time to reply back. Just looked at the Rehat Maryada by SGPC which suggests its ok to take a hukam even if you have not done an ardaas but obviously its important during or after after congregational sessions. You can stand up and do you personal ardaas infront of maharaaj ji even if there is no programme going on. I have seen many people at the gurdawara do this after they have done paath.

Guru Piariyo WJKK WJKF Just to let you guys know that anybody who can get to Havelock Road Gurdwara in Southall and wishes to begin Sehaj Path or recite any bani from SGGS JI, in the main guru ji's darbar on the women's side there is a saroop thats kept all day for this purpose. Its the far left one amongst the Akhand Path cubicles. You can go at anytime and get laha from guru sahib. You can even just take a personal hukamnama if you wish and if you don't know how to take a hukamnama ask any of the paathi's - they'll be happy to help. I think someone has also already explained in this section as well how to take a hukamnama - so try a search otherwise please do not hesitate to ask me. Lets all dive into the ocean of gurbani and savour the taste of all the gems, rubies, pearls contained within as bani itself says: srvr AMdir hIrw moqI so hMsw kw Kwxw ] suruvur andhar heeraa mothee so hunsaa kaa khaanaa The diamonds are in this lake; they are the food of the swans. daas baljivan singh

WJKK, WJKF The sikh religion is forever new and willl never be outdated - yes the gurus promoted tolerance and respect for all but that doesn't make it just to make a mockery out of the sikh faith which is what these bollywood films are doing. Bollywood has become so filled up with gandh / naach gana that suddenly showing scenes of our holy sacred shrines protrays the wrong image that this is what goes on in these places. More they're playing around to dis-mantle the sikh faith and confuse those innocent youngsters who may not know much about their religion. Promotion of the faith can be done through camps / literature / specifically focused religious films like the sahibzaday's movie. And plus the gurudwara is no film set.   15. Fateh veer ji If your in bana thats great but if not don't worry because I see a lot of the sewadaars at the gurdwara in english clothes giving out karah prashaad without a hazooriya. As long as you've washed your hands nobody will say anything to you if you want to do the sewa rather the paathi will probably be happy coz a lot of the times in lots of sangat there might not be enough people to give it out. :TH: Bhul chuk maaf

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj time and time explains to us not to act in egotism because it is that which creates a barrier b/w us and meeting God (atma uniting with parmaatma). And also where there is ego the naam does not abide there as there is no association between the two. Its important to have the humility bowl. Practising this through naam simran and selfless service is the best remedy as guru ji advises. Sometimes when you get caught up in too much sewa or vice versa and then you think ha! nobody greater than me and this in itself causes hunkaar. Bani has told us that when everyone is to die why act in ego or take pride in oneself and one who does is a fool. Its so silly but I can find sometimes for the smallest things me getting all egositic and then when i think about how the Gurus delivered the "Dhur Ki Bani" (from God) not once did they say its theirs which puts me to shame. When will it get through to them WE ARE SIKHS!!! not an offshoot or anything else The list of attempts made this year is endless in the way that hindus want to finish off SIKHS. Aastha really gets on my nerves too - b4 the hazur sahib broadcast when they show ganesh di murthi and that horn when Guru Gobind Singh said: "main naa ganeshay pritham manaoun, kishan, bishan kabhoun neh thiauon". Frustration! They all need to be blown up

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh A while back one granthi singh at the gurdwara approached me whilst cleansing the shoes in the "jora ghar" (shoe house) and said that do not do this kind of sewa because this is only for your benefit and not for others. He said said you should rather distribute langar or wash the trays where both sides are benefitting. Or if you wan't to do it only do that which involves putting the sangat's shoes away and giving them a token. When I asked him about it, he said that when guru sahib says about "charan dhoor" (become the dust of everyone's feet) it means sitting in the sangat amongst gurskihs in the darbar and cleansing your mind-which is fine. He also said that just brushing a cloth over someone's shoes or polishing them and then applying to your forhead is not proper sewa. I understand his point but if it gives you great happiness and doing it out of love? When doing selfless service the thought of reward shouldn't be there as gurbani says do it with "dhan man dhan" (mind, body and soul - is that right - i don't know) because then it becomes like a duty. And also the Rehat Maryada by SGPC under voluntary service does not render against dusting the shoes of those visiting the gurdwara? What are the sangats view on this? Bhul chuk Maaf

WJKK WJKF Veer Ji / Penjhi I don't know about that but from what understanding guru ji has given me is that one should come with complete humilty and accept that they have committed whatever sin it may be and fall at the guru's feet. And with guru kirpa you'll be forgiven. There's a line in from SGGS JI that I can't remember which says something along the lines of: forgiving one's past actions is the guru's natural way of turning someone from a sinner to become a virtous person.   22. Fateh Ji, I have looked at a few Punjabi-English Dictionaries, and this is the one that I found to be very useful. I borrowed this one from someone, that was kind enough to lend me an extra copy they had floating around. But I did see copies at Khalsa School Library. I'm not sure where you're from, but if you have a local store that sells them, this is the one I would recommend. Since there are many out there, this one has a green cover with an orange strip on top. It's called Punjabi University Punjabi-English Dictionary. I'm sure if you asked someone, they will know.
