  1. STICKY PLEASE! Mod Note : We will be pinning threads regarding events 10 weeks before they start so in this case, we will pin this topic around mid March. As you can see we have many PINNED topics already in this Events section and we have to be fair to other organisers too... otherwise the whole Events forum will end up being "pinned". Please do continue to post up until such time. I am sure there will be many Vaisakhi events coming up to pin too. We are sure you will support us in this matter. VJKK VJKF 151926[/snapback] Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! Just come back from Punjab. Was talking to a group of youth in early twenties and they asked in Punjabi, "So do you go to them 'meleh' every June in London to fight the Indian government?" - I suppose the news gets to some youth some how, LOL, even though some of them get the wrong impression lol, but a lot do get the point as well I think, especially the educated ones that go colleges and universities and have access to a wide range of information like the internet through forums like this one. Anyway, under 10 weeks left, past mid march now, so a Sticky as promised now maybe Admin Jee? Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!

  3. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! UNIVERSITY OF DERBY SIKH SOCIETY EVENT LET THE TRUTH BE KNOWN Presented by the Derby Sikh Society A talk by entertaining and inspirational speaker Bhai Roop Singh of Leeds was organised by the University of Derby Sikh Society as part of the East Midlands Sikhi Week last week. This was followed by a stunning Gatka display by Ustaad Harjinder Singh of the Baba Deep Singh Gatka Akhara. “Let the truth be known, you cannot deny the truth, the truth is true” is what Bhai Roop Singh based his talk on. The fact that whether we like it or not, the world is an illusion, that “99% of us are living a false life, we never worry about tomorrow, we are conning and kidding ourselves, let the truth be known that tomorrow may never come”. Referring to the Shaheedi Gallery of Martyrs and Saints of the past surrounding the university theatre, Bhai Roop Singh went on to say, “When I read some of this which is surrounding us here, I think to myself that we are lucky, to think what these people must have gone through…” Even the Beatles music group needed the guidance of a Guru to know the truth, but we are lucky that there is an ocean of wealth in the Guru Granth Sahib; it is not a book, but a living master. The prominent speaker advised those present that “this Guru is living and present, something that is unique to the Sikh religion and we should converse with it.” A break followed where refreshments were served and informal discussions took place. This also gave the chance for everyone to view the gallery of pictures and information of Sikh History, Martyrs to the Sikh Cause, Panthic organisations of today, external threats to Sikhism from right-wing extremist groups…etc. The youth felt strongly about the attacks on Sikhs as ‘mistaken identity’ and Panthic organisations such as the Sikh Federation (UK) were praised for their loyalty and dedication to the Sikh cause, and the creating of more awareness of Sikhs in the United Kingdom at a professional level. The ‘Hinduization’ of Sikh Faith and History illustrated in the gallery was criticized and shocking for most as shown from the open discussion that followed with Bhai Roop Singh. Known for the simplicity and humour, but with a profound importance behind the talks, Bhai Roop Singh captivated the audience throughout the event. Gatka, the Sikh Martial Art, performed by Master Ustaad Harjinder Singh of the Baba Deep Singh Gatka Akhara attracted many university youth in 2004 to attend Sikh Society meetings and learn more. The display put on this year was just as good and hooked those present to the theatre stage. Described as “one of the most multi-cultural events of a Sikh Society”, Keertani and book writer, Bhai Harjinder Singh Lally referred to the 100 or so people present from different backgrounds and faiths including Hindu, Muslim and Christian. A follower of the Hindu faith who has preferred to stay anonymous and has been attending Sikh Society meetings commented, “I have learned that Sikhi is such a wonderful religion, those who have been born into a Sikh family should consider themselves privileged and as Roop Singh has said, make the most out of it.” The event concluded with some inspirational words from the president of the Sikh Society, Bhai Amarjit Singh, that “Your soul is who you are, not the body, read Bani, do Naam and destroy the five vices.” The University of Derby Sikh Society would like to thank the Sikh Federation UK (Derby Branch) and its Chairman Bhai Gurmel Singh for their continuous support to the Sikh Society. Committee 2005/06 University of Derby Sikh Society Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!

  17. Maybe a Sticky for the next FOUR days Admin Jee? Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!
  18. Harinder Singh has made the point clear alond with SSM! The topic question has been answered that Sant Jee did not have children, they were suppose to get married but did not. Instead their brother got married to the person Sant Jee were suppose to get married to. To conclude, NON of us on here can compare ourselves and our Sikhi to such a pooran Brahmgiani and should just keep our mouths shut. The people who say Sant Jee were "incomplete" are wrong and it is them who are incomlete by thinking about such a divine being in such a way. End of Story! THAN THAN SACHKHAND VASEE BRAHMGIANI SANT BABA THAKUR SINGH JEE KHALSA (MUKH SEWADAR DAMDAMI TAKSAL)!!! Full Stop! Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!

  23. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! Taken from Todays "Punjab Tribune" Sammelan purely under Taksal patronage: Harnam Singh Surinder Bhardwaj Fatehgarh Sahib, February 17 2006 Sant Giani Harnam Singh ji Khalsa, chief Damdami Taksal jatha, Bhindran Mehta, has categorically made it clear that the world Sikh sammelan being organised at Fatehgarh Sahib on February 26 is purely arranged under the patronage of Damdami Taksal and not on the behest of any political organisation, government or any individual. He was addressing a large gathering at Sirhind town after inaugurating the head office of the sammelan set up here to monitor the arrangements. He said certain organisations and political persons have been alleging that the World Sikh Sammelan has the direct or indirect support of the state government and is being organised to benefit a particular political party. He said that it is totally false, malicious and misleading propaganda just to sabotage the sammelan being made under a planned conspiracy. He said that Damdami Taksal has sent invitations to more than 3,500 organistions all over the world, including SGPC, SAD(A), Dal Khalsa, Akhand Kirtani Jatha, jathedars of all Takhts and they are getting overwhelming response from all quarters. He said that all arrangements like pandal, transportation, langar, boarding and lodging and exhibitions have been finalised. He said that the heads of various sects, political, religious, social organisations, societies, clubs, scholars, farmer organisations, human rights, Dalit organisations have confirmed their participation. Three seminars have been organised at different places and the last would be organised at Law Auditorium, Sector 36, Chandigarh, on February 25. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!
