Scientific view is that you should take atleast 7-8 hours sleep daily andif u dont take it on regular basis, then people do find themselves in this kind of situation... secondly veerji, although u do alot of paath and goto guruduwara, the reason of kaam thoughts coming to your mind is coz you are having some curiosity about it in ur mind at some place and this is common coz nobody can be able to control his her mind coz if he does, he becomes the soul of guru. so wat u do is either u wake till that time u find urself fullsleepy or u can start doing pehli paudi path continuosly until u get sleep..that willhelp u up... otherwise this is dcientifically proved that brain never rests although its activity slows down in night (sleep) but still that dream part of brain becomes more active in night...

To me bowing to nishaan sahib is all followed by people seeing others doing that... coz nishan sahib is only symbol to represent that this place is guru ghar. the principle importance of nishan sahib came during the ghaznavi assaults on india and since singhs are the only one stopping them at that time during night times when they trying to send the loot back to their country, so people jst feel themselves secure after seeing nishan sahib that here will be sikh place where i can have a secure stay without any fear. So nishan sahib is the symbol to represent that here is guru ghar. Rest you can assocaite alot more things to it like the persons who laid their life for keeping it flying high. THink of it, respecting your symbol is the feeling which is there in us, coz they represents the guru ghar, if that is lost means it represents guru ghar is lost..... so that why it is important... but this doesnt make nishan sahib a guru, as guru ji told us to bow only in front of guru granth sahib ji...yes with respect u can bow to anybody like we do to our elders. regardin bowing in front of guru ji, isour way of giving regard and paying our respect to guruji, by getting nivan in front of him. yes when this is not done with a pure mind, that means u r mentally not present there although u r physically present there, means nothing. but still it doesnt mean that we are bowing in front of a idol etc... the two feelings and questions are separate and should not be confused. regarding khanda, where it is written that it came into being during maharaja ranjit singh time, if this is true, with wat shastra guru gobind singh ji churned the holy amrit on 1699 vaishakhi day?? bowing to shastra is our respect given to them since those are related to our guru. otherwise there is no reason bowing to shahstra. Akali bro, i havnt said five akand path was done simultanouesly but it was back to back and really i have nothing to do with this peer and something nor do i want to spread this thing to anybody. I am sharing what I have heard from my very very close relatives (u can imagine how close they are blood relations). So there is no reason to doubt them and i still dont believe in all being a scientist, but even there are scientific evidence for that too but its never been publicized etc. Regarding akhand path,well i personally saw paathi singhs to change panna without reading it and skipping some pannas from guru granth sahib ji during night time, coz i am the one who always give night duty and I never sleep ad jst watch the paathi what he is doing... some do sleep also during doing paath and if u go to any guruduwara u will find paathis staring at girls/ladies who bend down to bow their head... is this akhand path.... i believe in guru granth sahib and so is my family and we only trust it and never go these baba's. Akhand path should be done with the real feelings. dont give me example of khalistan appearing and this and that.... coz i am not in view of having a khalistan, coz i never believe our people that they can actually run it as the sikhs are known to be good hard workers but never said good rulers. and one thing is sure that all justified demands in the eyes of guru are fulfilled wether soon or late and this is my own testimony as i have seen this in my life and my fathers life who is firm believer in guru granth sahib.... so dont give such a ajeeb example of khalistan etc....

WJKK WJKF Despite beign a gursikh and a scientist, I myself never believed in ghosts (not the evil ghosts, but they are actually old peers (muslim saints) whose grave was beneath my grandparents old house), but what I have heard of testimonies from my granny and my masi, there could be something. As per nany and my mom tells that our house was on the grave of a muslim saint (he was very friendly) and never says or do anything to our family and all. But he use to move in night only one time from one position of house to another (one way and that is fixed everyday). once either my mami (who was newely amrried) put the bed in that way...coz in punjab people sleeps outside in summers./... so in night she asked my granny not to put the bed in my way. Also my mom tells that our house was safegaurded by this saint... this happened two times that when theives try to enter in house, but got blind... Now my masi ji's, she do path all the time and is amrtidhari and very very religous lady and infact her full family is amritdhari and religous. She had a house, but strange things happened to her, like somebody tried to pull his thumb daily while sleeping etc etc 9as told by my masiji), my cousin saw one green cloth person trying to break the roof of house with hammers, when he went to roof to see after he heard the knocking voices...but in morning the roof was all fine and there was no signs of breaking etc. This happened for quite some years and since we were young that time so we jst got scared. They do akhand paths alot of time but nothing worked. Then they come to know from somebody that this saint is very powerful and for this a stretch of five akhand paths are needed. So my masi ji and family did the same, and starting from that date till now, things has stopped and nothing is happening and everything is fine. So final conclusion is that gurbani do have all the powers in it and where there is gurbani means the guru itself is there. although i dont looks great talking of this stuff being a scientist but since this has happened to my very very close (blood related) peoples and they say it themselves, there is no reason i should doubt them, coz they have no motive behind it giving false information.. so jst believe in god and bani and everything is all fine. fateh

Dont Worry dear Veerji, I am also at a country where I think I am the only Sikh (with full sikhi saroop)... though i met 1 or 2 sikhs (jat) but they was clean shaven. here people do stare me very awkwardly although they dont say anything. I am in Taiwan, since its a base of states so only CNN channel comes here and there its all manipulated information that is rekleased by government. So they get confuse me for Muslims all the time. With most of the people who got to have a talk with me they jst think myself a muslim until they ask me and then they come to know about Sikh and that too amzaed as they havnt heard this religion, neither there is sikh temple and what ever sikh is there in here they are all diverted from being a proper gursikh... but what i do always is if somebody stares at me, I smile back to him, if there is a kid i use to make him/her laugh and their family also smiles back to me. whenever somebody ask i tell them about my religion etc.... so i m trying whatever best I can... still our religous body has to take care of education people so that this kind of discrimination should not be folowed in future. Thanks to the blessing of Guruji's which is always there on me and he is there with me all the time. In my field of reserach whenever I attend a conference, I am the only sikh there and this happened with me three times at international level. so i feel very proud when i find myself a unique person in a mob of 1400 or like that. and people becomes curious (those who havnt seen sikhs before)... really gives a good chance to interact with them about ur religion etc... all god's grace FATEH

Someone asked me a similar question and my response was: Hindus did not raise their first child to be a Sikh so he could join the Sikhs and sacrifice for the right cause. Their action was nothing more than personal gain. During British Empire, Sikhs were given the title of ‘Martial Race’ (not that Sikhs needed it). They were enlisted in the army in large numbers and their family members were given benefits. Their education in convent schools was less expensive and government provided many facilities just for the families of those serving in the army. Their retirement plan ensured their rich lifestyle after their service. Hindus were given nothing. Why would they be? Hindus fought against Hindus. One kingdom helped British take over another. How could British help those who betrayed their own brothers and countrymen? To get special services Hindus would raise their first son as a Sikh. After 1947 this was stopped. If their intentions were to contribute something in the freedom struggle then they would’ve continued to do so after India’s independence. And why did they not do this during Mughal Empire? Why only one son? Why not entire family? Was fighting for freedom not good enough cause for hindu families to join the struggle? Dear Sangat Ji THis is nothing but a propaganda to earn sikh votes and trust by BJP.... its a history that BJP has never won in Punjab and either its Akali or COngress.... Congress only wins when Akali... the most disgusting party who says of representing sikj religion starts fighting within each other..... so the main aim is to get sikh support and nothing else.... by doing this they trying to enter SGPC so that they can get hold of sikh religous body and do whatever they want... they have been atttempting this during the badal time...by gods grace badal is not in power this time... but his puppet Bibi Jagir Kaur is the president of SGPC and which is very bad news...... So this is all fake propaganda and they have got alot of sikh protest against various articles in punjab..... everybody know that BJP is a very religious party and its a slow poision.... once it will get into full power in center everybody will come to know how rude and hindu sided this party is... nothing much has been done coz at that time the centre government and state governemtn was of BJP and AKali and sikh being minority can be easily controlled.... it should be the moral duty of the so called sikh representatives (Akali dal) to not let such things happens and support sikh religion and people against it.... DEAR Sangat JI, I am not in England and hence i am feeling very bad about this issue and wont be able to help. But I am going to India (Amritsar) for my marriage in december and I will personally meet the president Bibi Jagir Kaur and the head granthi of the golden temple and will check for the situation... Unfortunately most British Sikhs have not, as Pakistani / Bengali Muslims in UK are generally not very tolerant or willing to engage other communities in good nature. They want conflict because they think their faith is supreme and want to impose it on others. The only way you can deal with people like that is by force not by understanding or trying ignoring them, this they see as a sign of cowardice therefore losing respect in their eyes. If they are challenged and made to fear you they rarely dare to see you as a target, that is the way nature works my friend. Look at Sikh history, Sikhs were persecuted by Muslim fanatics because our forefathers were peaceful and did not retaliate. When Sikhs took up arms Muslims had their rule destoryed and their attacks did not go unavenged. Had Sikhs followed the same genocidal practices of muslims, we would have wiped Islam from the most of northern India and perhaps from afghanistan. But because our faith respect the rights of other religious minorities we let them live and practise Islam when Sikh's had and empire to rival most european states of the day.
