  1. Like I said before, Military Industrial Complex. There is one big difference between Trump and the other presidents. He never bothered with lobbies nor did he bother with advisors, he did not listen to anyone but himself. That is why he wasn't liked. he didn't tow the line
  2. Joe Budhu is not as senile as he has been made out to be, I think he will be a lame duck president but I hope he lasts longer than people think (at least the 4 years) so that Kamli does not become president. Then at least they can have fresh candidates for 2024. But I think Trumpism is going to back with a vengeance in 2024. (Note that I am not necessarily mentioning Trump himself, but he has provided a playbook for anyone looking to replicate his ways)
  3. Maybe we should not focus on having MPs only in the Labour Party, it might be a good idea to have them in Conservative Party and in the case of Jaggi being from Scotland, a few MSPs too.
  4. India are pushing for the migrant angle, particularly during the post brexit phase with any potential trade deals. The UK are in a similar predicament with Nazanin-Radcliffe in Iran. The Iranian govt keep coming up with new charges to keep her languishing in Iran. She is being used as a bargaining chip, the UK may have to alter it's stance with a Biden Presidency looking to resume some kind of deal with Iran, so the UK government will likely have to make some concessions. I don't know exactly what the Sikh lobby can do nor what our 2 Sikh MPs can do, other than send out a few tweets. Most of our Sangat seems to be quite indifferent to him languishing over there it seems. They will release him when he has outlasted his usefulness
  5. That is one of the reasons the Military-Industrial Complex don't like Trump, he didn't start any new wars!
  6. What a right winger would say is that they are more charitable and they will help people in their communities (they are for small government), is that not how our daswandh kind of works, however if someone can explain how it does, it would be much appreciated. Does daswandh go directly to help our sangat or non-Sikhs as well? The danger I guess would be if you help others through your taxes, it is taken from you by the central government and it is spent on welfare and people don't go back to work and get dependent on welfare and this lasts for generations. Some of those right wingers would be greedy and say, " That's my money I earned it, why should I pay for these lazy bums" and others would say, "I want to see where my tax money goes to, is it going in the right places?" As a Sikh, is it better to uplift others so that they can lift themselves and get themselves back on track or have these downtrodden to become dependent on you and lose their work ethic?
  7. When a country has someone who is of a foreign country as prisoner, particularly if it affects their national security, expect that prisoner to be a pawn. The prisoner is going to be used as leverage. The question is what is the UK Government going to provide the Indian Government in order to release Jaggi Singh?
  8. We got get out of dualist thinking. There are people that think that the US second amendment (the right to bear arms) should be got rid off. If as Sikhs we are supposed keep shasters and we see our Sants like Bhindrawale armed with guns, how can we go against the 2nd amendment in the US. The Americans have that 2nd amendment so that their government does not get too c0cky and to defend their liberties. That sounds quite similar to us Sikh ethos of being armed and defending against oppression.
  9. What is deemed as Democrat and Republican is seen as right wing and left wing. However, compared to the UK politics both parties are more deemed to be on the right of the politic spectrum. There are things which are seen as 'right' values that align with Sikhi and there are values on the 'left' that align with Sikhi.
  10. Business is business. The powers that be remain power whichever government is in power. If you think about it, the extremes of both sides of the political spectrum are exactly the same. It is not linear, it's circular.
  11. Clarity of mind, clarity of thought is required. There are certain patterns of behaviour that is taking precedent. Freedom of speech no longer means arresting people and torturing. It now means blocking your IT access, defunding you via your sponsors, getting you fired from your job. Freezing your finances etc. Your data is there to be seen by TPTB. India takes it's cue from the west. The fact that Silicon Valley is full of IT professionals from India, does anyone honestly think that the Indian Deep State does not have agents in these large companies learning how the algorithms work (reverse engineering). How many times has confidential data gone missing in India from outsourced companies?
  12. There is a lot of "old boys club" that is after Trump. There has been co-ordination between tech companies, media, Democrats and maybe some Republicans to get rid of Trump. What is appearing to happen on social media and even the media outlets is to push one POV and deplatform people who may have a different POV as fascist or racist. What would have been seen as left wing point of view a few years ago is seen as right wing and fascist. The people of one particular political persuasion begin to turn on each other. Believe it or not, I read the guardian online and they normally have comments section which I love reading for the comedy value. There were always people who would comment in the article who gave alternative view. Recently, I have begun to see no dissenting points of view and it has become more of an echo chamber. It is quite interesting that anyone who is critiqued on one side of political spectrum it is seen as abuse but on the other side, abuse is seen as fair game. We are going down a slippery slope. If this can happen, our Sikh dissenters will also be deplatformed and will be seen as -ist.
  13. Kamli Harris was only known as an African American politician but now all of a sudden, she has discovered her "Indian" roots. She got completely smashed by Tulsi Gabbard in the primary debates. Yet they made her a VP, she is a token VP and she is going to be a puppet.
  14. AOC is very persuasive but she looks unhinged to me.
  15. "Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future" That was the quote? I think it was keeping a note of all the Trump supporters and creating a list to a witch hunt. The democrats have won, but they want to come after all the Trump supporters. That is what it seems to suggest
  16. She is probably the least worthy VP's. Didn't even earn it and the fact is that she could be President. If the Democrats were looking for a woman of colour (ticks 2 of their boxes), there were far better candidates.
  17. For politics and to remain in power as PM, he knows he needs to kowtow to the Islamic hardliners, so he will play that card and put on the pious act. Also remember being a secularist in a muslim country is not the same as being a secularist in a kaffir country. He probably very secular in front to Islamists but he would be Islamic in front of a kaffir. A non-religious Muslim will still side with an Islamist over a kaffir.
  18. On your last point. For some Sikhs, even if their sibling bats for the other side would still object to the muslim because even if they might disapprove to the sexuality they still would prefer for them not to convert. Strange logic I know.
  19. If you ever fancy a knees up. All those cockney songs seems to be about the old man, lol
  20. If Eastenders was authentic both Jkv and Dally would be on the show.
  21. Reality of the political sphere is that you cannot really isolate yourself. You make yourself a bigger target. We need to understand the ground realities of the situation. What us in our interests. The hindus themselves are not one monolith. There are anti-Hindu hindus as well. It could be that we may need to make alliances. It also can be the case that these other parties will need to curry favour with us as they attempt to leverage each other. This is the nature of politics.
  22. The art of politics can be even worse. We don't have leverage and we are beholden to two belligerants and that is not in our favour. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The Pakistanis know that there are Sikh holy sites on their territory and know very well that Sikhs would run to look after these sites. They will use this to their advantage. The act of generosity to have PGPC set up to look after Kartarpur Sahib is a big ruse because they did not have to do that in the first place because they could have given that to whatever muslim body if they chose to do so. Imran Khan and Pakistan at this moment are big fan boys of Turkey and Erdogan and seen what they did to Hagia Sophia and turning it back into a mosque (originally a church in the East Roman Empire). The only game we Sikhs can play in our part of Punjab is to disband the waqf board and have SGPC manage those old muslim sites. But we know that SGPC is controlled by other shadowy orgs. Even better would be to have some radical hindu outfit to have access to those old muslim sites. That would really put the cat among the pigeons.
