    Hair Loss

I have heard a particular fungus can cause male pattern baldness. You could try more frequently washing your pagh material(s). Remedies I have heard of are things like Chinese duck oil, coconut oil (but I don't think these are break throughs). Alot of research is going into male pattern baldness and it's likely in our life time some cure will come out. You could try an african hair saloon weave shop sometimes they have off market products which can do odd wonders (use carefully with caution) When it comes to the Mrs more importantly then hair is the way you behave, act, talk, walk, the way you behave with others infront of your wife and your personality overall. In our generation bald men are in fashion, some people with a perfect head of hair want to shave it all off and some of these bald men do end up with attractive ladies. So even if you are bald or partially bald it doesn't equal the end of your potential marriage. It's not something you should go straight in to talk about, like not the first thing but maybe the 4th or 8th thing but perhaps something you should mention at some point. If a woman leaves you just for baldness then she is superficial and it wouldn't have worked out later on anyway.
  2. If you want to explore this comparison further thought I might add this nice remake of ramayan it has English subtitles and made with some nice computer graphics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQd5GdVHuqY&feature=related
  3. If Christmas is the most important celebration of Christianity Then for Sikhs it would be Vaisakhi the formation of the Khalsa and maybe after that the birth of Guru Nanak (avtar purbh)
  4. There is research being done about it, some limited research shows sugar might cause inflammation found in autoimmune diseases. Although it's not with absolute proof, and it's a question of diet and how you maintain health. Generally there have been cases were patients have improved their health through better diets, with that the quality of life they had improved and they did go into remission. So some have drawn into conclusion that fatty foods did that to them. However you will find people with balanced diets do suffer from autoimmune illnesses aswell. Infact let me say this on the record, herbal medicines are likely to do more harm than western medicines are. Simply because western medicines are tested, peer-reviewed, monitored, regulated, constantly tested and are based off empirical evidence not fairy tales mixed in with some true stories. Right now there is absolutely no regulation on herbal medicines so you can literally eat poison.
  5. If you read what I said carefully herbal medicine can be harmful (I gave proof and cases of it) and the claim that if it doesn't help it won't harm is nonsense. Herbal medicine can be very harmful. Western medicine is more safe.
  6. In wrestling terms it was a low blow. But it got the job done and he retained the championship.
  7. Maybe Lohri (originally a hindu festival but marks Punjabi culture and celebrates the winter solstice as does Christmas)
  8. Sure it's short, bhindranwale would sign his name has Giani Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale not sant. I personally don't believe in sants as people describe them to be (hence i'm not a sant-samajhi). Not everyone who hates Bhindranwale calls him as such, calling someone by their surname is not a symbol of hate, using derogatory language would be a sign of that. The Indian media dislike speaking about him but it still pops up with them. Millions of rams can not compare to any Sikh; everyone is unique in their own way. As he said himself we are Sikhs of guru gobind singh.
  9. I don't want to convince a Hindu about Khalistan, rather I want to convince them about Baba Guru Nanak dev ji. I think trying to attain khalistan will make it difficult to spread Sikhi among people. If langar-degh was spread all over hindustan there would be no one sleeping hungry in India, it would end one of the big gaps which exist in some states of India more towards south between rich and poor. Not to mention how it will allow foes to break bread to shatter enmity. I never thought of Dronacharya being killed by Drushtadyumman as propaganda. More of the everything is fair in love and war, or a part of the war game. That situation was an actual battleground the rules were set down. I think comparing that to the pogroms is quite different. History of pre-emptive strikes have been recorded all over world cultures. I don't think calling a walking, talking magical monkey hanuman a terrorist will help much under the logic calling a spade a spade. When you have people worshipping monkeys (which can be violent at times)- I don't think we have much ground to talk on to the other party on logic apart from avoiding the emulation of them. I can see the parallels between Ravan and Giani Bhindranwale, Bhindranwale was very well versed in religious scripture. Ravan was highly versed in scripture he was known to have the ultimate knowledge of the 4 vedas. Some say he was the grandson of Brahma himself so he sat on a direct legacy from the Vedas. Bhindranwale was head of the taksal he sat on a lineage instated by the Gurus. Ravan was known as a just king, part of the reason he wanted to kidnap Sita was to take revenge for Ram cutting the nose of his sister. I wonder why she bothered travelling all the way from the South of India up to the North. Besides that the Ramayan has been changed, interpolated and the whole story isn't as it was originally recorded. It's also narrated that for Krishna to break the rules a prophecy was laid down by Gandhari that krishna's own empire, rule will fade and he will die a death by the arrow of Jara the hunter (reincarnation of Bali who was killed by Ram). So the apparent god-head became cursed. Which is trivial since you are supposed to pray to this Vishnu avtar to help you but he himself get's cursed and can't break curses.
  10. I usually find myself "burning" when I'm angry with someone, a group of someones or at something. It's kinda handy at this time of year, allows you to turn the heating down- saving on your utility bills which is quite handy. When you find peace within yourself the burning stops, so coming to terms with whatever is making you angry. Avoiding milk when you have arthritis is a bad choice, some of it is said by hippies, non-arthritis sufferers and by speculative science. Dairy contains rich amounts of calcium which is required when your joints are being destroyed under arthritis inflammations. Dairy is rich in proteins which is good also for the nervous system and the muscles in the human body. If anything on a hot day a nice cold glass of pasteurized milk can cool you down. Milk is such a unique drink which contains a rich amount of vitamins, minerals and nutrients required for sustenance the only thing it really lacks in is in fibre. If you are heating up from constipation try eating rich fibres like oranges, apples, bread (brown especially). http://www.arthritiswa.org.au/content/page/osteoporosis-prevention.html http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/arthritis-information/arthritis-and-daily-life/diet-and-arthritis/vitamins-and-minerals.aspx In my opinion Ayurveda, homeopathy, acupuncture, numerology, Chinese medicine, herbal medicine is mostly nonsense bakwas, it either uses a unsafe quantity of western medicine or medicines which were taken off the pharmacy shelves years ago for deaths. I personally think governments should shut them down or regulate them intensely to leave all the stuff that can just make you a soup. If you get a reliable book which contains a list of herbal medicines and search them on the internet, research them thoroughly you will learn how some are very bad and lethal for your health. Alot of what was good of ancient herbal medicines has already been extracted and taken into western medicine already. Many medicines available have through such myths been discovered to be true while others were lethal such as eating magic mushrooms to cure diseases. You can read a scientific paper on the dangers of Ayurveda http://www.sactrc.org/IJEnvH203-415_Dargan%20et%20al.pdf Related another scientific paper but on the dangers of Chinese Medicine (a similar form of medicine) https://www.thieme-connect.de/ejournals/html/10.1055/s-0030-1250533 Just to prove to you why Homeopathy is nonsense and dangerous is this: http://abchomeopathy.com/r.php/Acon From that website and in other homeopathy books is a special flower, which is also poisonous we can see our fine Sikh sister killed her husband using the same flower. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aconitum this tells you the name of it, which will allow you to put 2 and 2 together to figure out why consuming that herb would be a very bad idea. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/7205840/Woman-used-rare-poison-in-curry-to-kill-ex-lover.html
  11. It almost makes it seem that a lack of caste system is a bad thing. And the destruction of Islam'ism is a bad thing. Hinduism is almost dead anyway. It also almost makes it seem as if religious diversity is a bad thing as it will lead to people having disrespect for true naam and respect of elders.
  12. If it's just food, music and maybe other items of culture like dress and art. Then it won't last long since all of those can be described as art forms, they evolve and change with time and place. Being a part of the diaspora we won't inherit these directly. Maybe that is a good thing- being America-Sikh, British-Sikh or Canadian-Sikh (Western Sikh) is our own identity to form when it comes to those matters. It seems we can lead the fashion in paagh with armani suit fashion if we want to some Indian-Sikhs (nationality wise- Sikhs do live in places in India other than Punjab, some in Maharashtra, South India and Delhi). I don't mind south Indian dishes when it comes to idli-dosa but for me nothing beats the good old italian pizza. The global village culture allows us the express ourselves as we please, as for music most of the bhangra industry is lead in the UK, most produces for it are all in west midlands, vocalists usually fly over to record sometimes and do fly over to punjab to record videos sometimes in studio over there or here or else where. If it's art long gone are the days of Indian art form everyone is getting into computer graphics - art forms like those being taken up by Inkquisitive. So we don't have to follow on to Indian culture we get to define our own culture. When it comes to people saying drinking alcohol is punjabi culture, it's untrue and in fact people are forming it as our culture, which surely is a nice way to destroy our kaum. Afghan Sikhs do also claim to have ethnic backgrounds besides Indian and some would identify their own hence as Afghan but religion is Sikh. I've heard some afghan Sikhs are Kurds (the people saddam tried to kill in Iraq) from Kurdistan. .
  13. Thanks for the appreciation. As for punjabi some muslims claim they invented it (spoken not script- they used shahmukhi script), that people like Sheikh Farid were the first writers of it and the use of arabic and persian in punjabi is justification for why punjabi was their innovation before Sikh ripped off their language with their sufism and turned it against them. I think we have to appreciate what happens when we deny the past, we can re-produce Afghanistan like environments. The dark ages took place in the west simply right after christianity had become successfully in destroying the past from the minds of people. Long forgotten where the names of plato, aristotle and Socrates. The renaissance thrived when their names, their works came back. While the dark ages took place, some of the middle east started to grow in economy through it's sciences from the works of such greek and other persian philosophers, the remnants of the once proud Zoroastrian nation. It's not a secret, Pakistan is a mess and doesn't have it's house in order. The last thing we want is to become anything like them, while they are off chasing a imaginary dream of emulating the most perfect man (lol), to create the most perfect nation they are actually going backwards in terms of international standards. Places like Japan and Brazil are going forwards. South America is rediscovering it's aztec past and the western world is rediscovering it's Roman, Greek and Norse pasts. India as it is seems to be the lands of which the Vedas were prevalent. It also compromises of the nations Aurangzeb conquered. It also seems to be mentioned in other ancient Hindu/Indian literature. Gurbani isn't exactly in Hindi, gurbani compromises of many languages which were all incorporated into the standards of forming gurmukhi punjabi. The Sikh gurus standardized punjabi aswell. I don't think a true Sikh can be against one specific language but against losing their own. Part of the political struggles facing punjab is removing punjabi as a public arena language, demeaning punjabi to a backwards tongue while praising hindi as a sophisticated tongue (even though it came from a rural community aswell). The laymen of geographical regions however tend to seek one language and from the central government there is a pressure to eradicate local dialects in a bid to unify india under a more central culture. In Maharashtra, Maharatis are very proud of their language and I doubt they want to see Maharati replaced with hindi. Here is a map of Aurangzeb's empire: (here are a series of maps which relate to various mughals their expansion and shrinkage of empires http://www.columbia.edu/itc/mealac/pritchett/00maplinks/mughal/roolvinkset/roolvinkset.html ) Much before Aurangzeb is King Ashoka's empire from 250 BC Source (http://www.columbia.edu/itc/mealac/pritchett/00maplinks/early/ashoka/ashoka.html )
  14. Brother I think you picked up an important topic of identity, there has been alot of talk about what identity means in a multicultural melting pot such as those presented in western countries. We can identify ourselves by our religion, by our nationality, by our ethnicity, by our historical relevance, by our age group or even gender or sometimes occupation (banker/doctor/engineer). Being a Sikh doesn't contradict the identity of being an Indian since one is a religious identity and the other is a geographical identity which can relate to nationality, but when it comes to ethnicity some are skeptical about calling themselves Indian. I think we would eventually fall into the trap Pakistan has whereby it denies so much of it's past being a part of India and it's roles that it has invented a whole series of lies of how it's entire nation was a product of an import from arabia- from waterless deserts. India is already a superpower but a worrying one, due to the nature of the corruption which exists in the country, when it comes to bribes, money laundry, extortion. From top-to-bottom corrupt, you can't get basic administration done without bribes or silly slow dones. Things such as court cases can last a life time which is a ridiculous amount of time where by justice is not served or served to late. I think we take for granted some of India's greatest problems don't just effect solely sikhs they do effect Hindus. Also in the image Gandhi and Nerhu shaped for India it removed punjab as a central focus, we saw the removal of Indian cinema away from punjab to mumbai. We saw the intellectual centre change, punjab played a great role in the writing of many books, especially many great punjabi muslim writers- people like Syed Muhammad Latif became unknown. We saw the removal of many Sikhs in high ranking administration roles that the british had earlier appointed. The british were more fascinated with Sikhs in India then Hindus were and perhaps in some ways it's unfair to expect the same treatment. We did earn the respect of many british officers in both anglo-skh wars aswell as our general way of being. For some hindus they see Sikhs as an offshot of Hindus who don't have anything amazingly new about them but adopted ancient practices and rejected practices of tolerance- so a negative outlook. The British having come across the muslim identity paradigm have become unsure of what post-imperialism identity has lead to, what is the identity of these people who have come through diaspora. The whole issue of putting punjabi next to british is a direct confusion of the layman who can't distinguish the difference between ethnicity, nationality and religion. For some nationality and ethnicity are the same. Poverty may exist everywhere but in India abject poverty exists, a type of poverty where people can't afford to feed themselves or have the basic needs. Poverty in the west means a person can't afford to purchase more then 1 television or more then 1 set of appliances held in their home. In India poverty is not being able to afford the very next meal. India's lack of innovation, research and development handicaps it's economy, aswell it's lack of fairness overall and corruption overall. You can't even settle a small trade dispute (something normal for large companies). I don't think there is anything wrong with identifying yourself to have a connection with India's past, with the poor people of india have done nothing wrong to us, or to the vivid past of when plastic surgery, Ayurveda, mathematics, sciences all excelled in India. Why shouldn't we connect ourselves with India's golden age, what India has become now is far from ideal. Basic sanitation is off, water supplies are all contaminated with e-coli and other bacterium. The pressure of the water is flawed, a lack of stable supply of electricity doesn't exist, the speed of internet if it even exists is slow at best, India's road situation is insane, many people die from india's unsafe roads which run without regulations. India's postal service is flawed people steal valuables even out of courier post without shame, if something like that happened here a full investigation would be launched and people would lose their job. People are dumping nuclear waste in india there is no such thing as ofcom in india, even if there was they take bribes and don't do their job. It's difficult to book a simple ticket for a train or bus which is worse than transport for london's service. Standing in a line to get a train ticket in punjab is horrific, with all sorts of insects in an half open ground, poor sanitation, no disinfectant used at all. Forgot to mention the torture and human rights violations that go on among Indian police. Sometimes it's the smallest of things which are annoying of india such as buildings and structures without plaster, marble, paint. Or it has rotten paint with mould growing, not to mention lack of roads or broken roads. Not to forget electrical hazards, lack of following standards some people can't be bothered to fit a switch and just connect a live wire together with the potential of getting electrocuted. Or the dishonesty to steal bulbs from street lamps, signs and from phone booths (which exist rarely). The times you have to wait to get a ticket or any other service is awful. People don't even say please or thank you when it comes to attaining a product, service trade in India. I think we should look at Japan and see how far it came from it's imperial period. Japan is doing very well. Regardless we have a long way to go before we can manifest our vision of truly living the gurus. But identifying yourself as India isn't a sin.
  15. You got to compare how pakistan has innocent indian soliders locked up and regardless of the pressure india puts on they won't release them. There was an article on how people had to convert to islam just to leave the prisons. India captures in acts of revenge some pakistani soldiers who cross the border without permission and puts them in jail leaving them to rot. So regardless we would only end up in the mess of the 2. Besides that we wouldn't have enough time to catch up with the infrastructure and technology of the two before they attack a potential sikh state. It would be vulnerable in the beginning- unless the british or americans fund it all, which I doubt they would. Unless america dissolves pakistan and hands it over to sikhs and hindus to share. Then we can use the pathans, syeds, khans as our servants as our ancestors did, they can clean our shoes and fit our toilets.
  16. Doesn't sound like love. I do wonder how a supposed atheist westerner even knows what a rakhi is and what it symbolizes aswell. As well as being fluent with the rules of shariah on pork and alcohol. Islam hasn't caught on aswell as muslims day dream to think it has.
  17. For those who are interested in the above 2 there is more which can be looked at to get a bigger picture of the original post
  18. Sounds like a response to these videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DsWyG2-hfc
  19. if you have to trim it for your own journey do it then and only once you learn the value of it later, it will mean more when you decide you want to keep it again
  20. We welcome them all with open arms to come into gurus house. And we welcome them with the invite (dawah) to embrace sikhi.
  21. It can but some feel it alone can but I feel you need more then that you need to change the way you look at life, life philosophy, eating habits and sleeping patterns - perhaps the people you are around aswell
  22. Interesting how 1849 and 1947 were cases were democracy failed. Perhaps because it was devoid of secularism and brought religion into it- mainly islam and how it could be superior to other groups in a democratic way which lead to other groups losing their homes. The number game didn't work and the voice of the masses wasn't the voice of god as navjot sidhu claims it is. Since the history is done and dusted, alot of youngsters feel the past never happened and sikhs can't rise to their former glory in a new constructive way which doesn't harm other communities but benefits everyone. Sikhs couldn't go around the world to make trade as the british did such as acquiring books from the Turkish or attaining the basics for the motor or going to china to attain gun powder, the art of war and tea. Nor could sikhs establish such structure where by everyone was satisfied with where they sat and found themselves in a position to upgrade later on, on the basis of their merit abit like how British and american companies promote people as the east indian tea company did yet structures like sikh gurdwaras are still fighting of the president seat maybe in an attempt to extort the gurdwara funds into their own pocket and have people respectfully greet them on a daily person as a man of power.
  23. Pindoo or pendhu derived from pind for village, i.e. villagers. He seems to be referring to the actions of the committees to the likeness of the stereotype that villagers are illiterates, it can also refer to someone with lesser etiquette than what is required of a city. It's difficult to compare etiquette with ethics there are some crossovers sometimes.
  24. In this video we see the person telling us sikhs who didn't fast were confused to be muslim and as such were given the shariah punishment for not fasting in the month of ramadhan. He says that among some people there were some who knew those people weren't sikh and approached the judge before the punishment who was confused why these people dressed like muslims wearing turbans and beards and then ordered they receive half of the lashes in Yemen. The guy says afterwards the sikhs attitude was that they responded after receiving lashes that the muslims had given them the sikh treatment.
  25. Have a read of this, it's an ebook of bhai randhir singh taking on a christian in a discussion about guru granth sahib being an idol and diety. So it might be relevant to the discussion http://www.vidhia.com/Bhai%20Randheer%20Singh%20Ji/Is-bowing-to-Guru-Granth-Sahib-Ji-akin-to-idol-worship.pdf Btw brushing your teeth, taking a bath, washing your hand are all rituals. They have deeper meanings behind them, sikhi doesn't reject rituals it rejects blind rituals- things which have no phaal or fruit or any spiritual merit like throwing an idol in the river or throwing water backwards, or kissing the black stone of mecca, or throwing stones at the devil represented in mecca, or bowing to the pagan temple kaba. Guru shows the true path of bhakti is in the heart that god resides within that. If we are going to equate nitnem to lipservice then you got to realize the power of gurbani as it is to other man made books. ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਇਫਤਰਾ ਭਾਈ ਦਿਲ ਕਾ ਫਿਕਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ The Vedas and the Scriptures are only make-believe, O Siblings of Destiny; they do not relieve the anxiety of the heart. (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 727)
