  1. i disagree was raja janak, dhroo, prahlad, kabir, naam dev etc given amrit? no Everything is in Akaal Purkhs hands, Amrit is the maryada given to Sikhs. No one can give Hukam to Akaal Purkh, if He wants to give someone mukti or allow them into sachkhnad its up to Him. Lets stop making up fantasies of a SachKhand populated only by amritdhari Sikhs. Amrit is not the *only* way. There are other ways too, imo amrit is the best way, but to claim a bhramgiani will be born again for the sake of being amritdhari is ridiculous. To be a bhrahmgiani in the first place you would have to be totally sacrificed to Waheguru - Bhramgiani aapi Nirankar. you say 'hindu brahmgiani' do you know the meaning of the word brahmgiani? A brahmgiani will never be born as part of reincarnation, if they are born it is not because they are caught in the cycle like us. Bhul Chhuk dhi kema
  2. sorry...but how do you know its lust, what has anyone said that makes you think they arent in love. lies - this is an indian tradition and has nothing to do with Sikhism. The only thing Sikhism says about marriage is that it constitutes one person in two bodies. sorry for this, but thats wrong - Sikhs are not meant to acknowledge andy distinction based on cast or creed. since when were Sikhs racist lies. Sikhi says nothing of the sort. Please stop inventing this vaidrogi. None of this information is useful. Bottom line - what his parents are doing is agiainst Sikhi. We cant do anything about that - the most you can do is tell him to tell them that what they are doing is against Sikhism. I agree with going to www.mrsikhnet.com for help - he probably knows how to handle this better than most...specially as people here seem to cling to old traditions that have nothing to do with the religion.
  3. these names are all adjectives - when they are used in Sikhi they refer to the literal meaning of the word. thats how i see it anyway
  4. these names are all adjectives - when they are used in Sikhi they refer to the literal meaning of the word.
  5. double post coz its not letting me edit his parents need to realise that what theyre doing is vaidrogi (creating enmity/derogatory distinction) - and is against Sikhism
  6. yea, what the heck are you doing <.< ... Janet, are his parents aware that you are willing to adapt? Personally, if I was him I would get a hukamnama, his parents wouldnt dare defy that...although this shouldnt be a problem in the first place.

    Receiving Amrit

i agree - take amrit first
  8. <<correct me if i am wrong but i have learnt that the only way to attain liberation is to take amrit, otherwise you will keep being reborn.>> depends on the definition of amrit. Within the Sikh maryada amrit is necessary - though thats not to say that you wont get any benefit from simran/paath if you havent done this - amrit just makes it stronger, faster. Taking amrit does not mean you wont be reborn - but if you are reborn it will be as a human and if you gained kamai in your previous life your new life will put you in a better position to get Naam <<so does this mean that amritdhari sikhs are the only people that will ever be liberated and people from other religions will keep being reincarnated?>> no it doesnt - this is up to Dharamraja / Akaal Purkh. Amrit will bring you back as a human if it is necessary to come back - if in your life when you took amrit you did plenty of seva/paath/simran and need to be born again then it will be in a position that will make your union to Waheguru easier than before - ie you'll start off where you left off. There is not only one stage of mukti - there are v. many Khands above this one - Sikhi leads to Sach Khand. <<even sikhs who have followed the gurus teaching, and japped naam will never attain liberation?>> As a Sikh why would you not take amrit if you were living the lifestyle. But yes, it possible to be mukt without taking amrit - but amrit makes it easier, and more likely. Remember - mukti is *not* the aim for a Sikh, a Sikh's aim is to be a total sacrifice to the hukam of his/her Guru. Mukti is not necessarily even desirable depending on which Khand it'll end yuo up in. <<is it possible for a non amritdhari person to attain jeevan mukhti? or even become a bhramgiani?>> yes, it is *possible*, amrit makes it more *probable*
  9. <<They were finding the Sikh empire too ferocious to conquer>> i disagree, the Brits conquered us in battle. The Brits also would allow only Amrtitdhari Sinkhs into their Sikh regiments becuase they recognised the difference it made in the calibre of soldier. They changed a little stuff, mostly because of lack of understanding than malicious intent imo. If you want someone to hate on, hate on the people who gave up Sikh territory to the Indians stupidly believing htey would be given a share. The Brits would have left us our own land if we asked for it when they left - they still recognised the punjab as a Sikh area, and respected that the Punjab Kingdom almost kicked their butts.
  10. maryada is the practical guide for how a Gursikh should live and treat other people and Guru Sahib. ie it wont be written in Guru Sahib how to do prakash etc, this has to be learned from maryada
  11. yes we believe in the existence of ghosts, spirits, demons etc there are specific levels and definitions of these, which I dont know much about. Basically, the ghosts are souls in transmigration demons are not in the cycle of joons and have their own specific work to do.
  12. Guru Granth Sahib Ji does not state much as to the physical appearance of the Sikhs. Guru Granth Sahib is mostly a continous comtemplation of God, and His character. There are various hukams (orders) given by the Gurus that still exist, as well as texts written by Sikhs that lived with the Gurus that have been approved by the Gurus that relate to how a Sikh should physically act, eat, dress etc. The strict following of thes rehits are usually obligatory only after one has been 'baptised' (i dunno what else you would call it in english). Most people practice them for however long they feel comfortable *before* getting baptised in order to accustom themselves to their impending new lifestyle after their baptism. Before doing this I would recommend practising and learning the meanings of a few prayers. I would recommend Sri Jap Ji Sahib for starters. Also try waking up in the morning and contemplating the manters 'Waheguru' and the Mool Manter too.
  13. Guru Sahib is always placed on a bed of weapons, or has a shaster at the base of the palki.. as far as Guru Sahib not being able to defend themslelves, im pretty sure that Gupt shaktia and Shaheedi Singhs as well as us normal Sikhs are there for that. Besides, Guru Sahib is veparvah, Guru Granth Sahib Ji is Gurbani Prakash of Guru Sahib, nothing that is done to their physical or 'book' foorm will actually harm them. If anyone desecrates Guru Sahib they will find out after they die how their work has been ruined as a result.
  14. you can download a recording made by sangat talking to suleman from here www.gurmatveechar.com/audio/Suleman_the_ghost.mp3
  15. taken from sikhawareness: " Suleman was a pir and saw his daughter and a sadhu together romantically while he was in samaadhi and got angry and went looking for the sadhu to kill him. He couldnt find the sadhu and when he got home he burnt his daughter and a short while later his wife died of grief. then he started doing bad things for money as he had ridhia sidhia. after he died he was taken by jamdoot to dharamrai - took one year, beating him all the way. He describes what dharamrai looks like - 'beard white like the sun, skin red like molten copper'. Dharamraja tells him he has to go to kunbi narak until he learns his lesson, and then has to be a pret for a thousand years. Suleman asks how he will get mukti - Dharamrai says that God will come to earth in the form of 10 Gurus, after some time when Sulemans sentence is finished there will Guru Nanak Dev ji's sant in Rara Sahib who will give him mukti. Then he asks Dharamrai where the sadhu who slept with his daughter is as he wants revenge. Dharamrai says that he will be a boy called manmohan singh and you will recognise him when you see him. You can beat him, but you cant kill him, he will lead you to Sant Isher Singh. Suleman says he met Guru Nanak Dev Ji in mecca medina, where he was told he had to do what Dharamraja told him. He also says that he met Guru Gobind Singh Ji but not in detail - he was questioned by someone and suleman answered "I have already told you I met him." Suleman says that people used to to pooja at his grave (muslims), and one day a boy urinated on the grave, suleman looked at him and recognised the sadhu he has been wiating for. He started attacking him, until he remembered Dharamrajas word, and let him go, when the boy became uncoinscious. The villagers quickly came and got him, doctors found nothing wrong - didnt know what had happened. At first he cam to Hapur in someone elses body and then started speakin in manmohan singh, who was in Maharaji's sangat. Maharaji found someone to have suleman as a baby that both suleman and the family agreed to and suleman went. First he refused to go to someones house coz they were rich, then when he agreed to this family he said that he would go but wouldnt sell newsparers ( that was his father to be's work) A few weeks later Suleman turned up at Rara Sahib again, Maharaji asked him why he broke his word, Suleman said he didnt break it - it takes six months for the human to form and then he will go back because the pain was too much in the womb - written in Anand Sahib paat as well (mata ke udar meh pratipal kare). Maharaji said ok, Suleman took Manmohans singhs body again and started living in rara sahib sangat as sevadar. This is when one of those recordings was made that is on the net. This was made by balwant singh, and the transcript is also in the book. This conversation you've heard on the recording. He seems a nice enough guy Smile 7 months later Suleman was still there, Maharaji called him and again asked why he broke his word, Suleman said he was sorry, but wanted see Maharajis birthday before he went. Maharaji said no - the baby was ready. Suleman replied that Mahraji could do anything, and that he could the delay the birth, Maharaji agreed. 11 months after his mother got pregnant, Suleman was born, after Maharaji refused another extension - saying it would to painful for the mother to wait any longer. He left his nishan on manmohan singh - his tongue was all spotty. For 4 years after he was born Suleman could remember all that had happened to him - he also described what kunbi narak was like and what people had to do - some people were being burnt again and again - didnt really understand that bit coz his urdu is strange. Theres a couple other stories about prets and how they got mukti through saptah paat, and extracts from Gurbani about pret/bhoot etc. He described how prets possess people - 'like how tissue sticks to sweat on a body, the pret envelopes the human'. Prets are attracted to the smell given off by people who eat meat, eggs and drink alcohol, because their food is blood and meat - which they eat through animals. "

  19. in sant (inenglish - saint) is one who, according to Gurbani, never forgets the name of God and his mantr mahants, I believe, were in cahrge of Gurudwara maintenance until the mid 20th century, though I may be wrong
  20. neither do i but make it clear If you throw the term Sant Baba around like that then you imply every single real Gurmukh Pyara thats ever been on earth or is still here.
  21. I love how you don't mention that its pakhandi sants that are harmful to Sikhi...according to what you/ve written it is real Sants and Sadhus whose 'sole purpose is to create division'
