  1. It's called Christianity for a reason. The clue is in the name. And Islam should be called Mohammedism. Perhaps Sikhism should be called Guru Nanakism, but I don't know enough about the subject to form a proper comment.
  2. I would be very interested in the results of your research. Please keep in touch.

  4. I'm a Christian and Christ is my role model, he's my guru. As for the bible, I'm not an expert but I know there is some really good advice in it.
  5. I still haven't made me mind up about this bloke. Looking to exploit already existing divisions between the Sikh and Muslim communities for his own goals or a genuine voice of honesty? Dunno, who can you trust these days? Fk knows.
  6. Ok it's a little light humour but these shows are brilliant entertainment. And I repeat again, I am not trying to convert anyone but the thread title does involve the name Jesus. And these shows are great fun.
  7. It makes my head spin round and round which is a real pity because I like the culture but just can't get over the language. Is it hard to learn? Is the pronounciation difficult for a western English speaking tongue? Is Panjabi a tonal language with rising and lowering tones attached to each word? I hear there are loads of local dialects and everything, what chance have I got?
  8. Howdy folks. Some of you may have read I work with quite a few Punjabi Sikhs which is fine. Today the ladies all clubbed together and produced a whole load of food for charity, the cause being the Nepalese earthquake. Very touching sentiments and very community spirited. What I really want to say is out of all religions the langar is a real winner. There is nothing like food to bring people together and create a good atmosphere. Brilliant idea and nice to see the tradition is still very much alive and kicking. It's one of the best things in the world. Incidentally how important is speaking Punjabi to Sikh people? Does the language have words and expressions that just cannot be found in English? All the women speak good English but when together prefer to speak in this tongue. Why is this? Many thanks.
  9. Well you either have freedom of speech or you dont is my opinion. Goes back to the argument that if you are confident your religion is right then it shouldn't matter to you what people say or draw.
  10. Would there be a punishment for changing religion from Sikhism to another religion? Would there be a punishment for leaving the faith? Would the government be made exclusively of Sikhs or would you allow other faiths into positions of power? Would there be the punishment for divorce? Would there be a punishment for abortion? How about homosexuality, would it be allowed? Apologies but I'm just curious to know.
  11. Would you like to see blasphemy laws enacted in your ideal Sikh state? Would you allow open criticism of the state religion?
  12. A free society where free and new ideas are encouraged to take place should involve any idea being open to scrutiny and citicism and that includes any religion. So basically after these laws are inacted going down to speakers corner and questioning the validity of Islam in an open and honest debate would be labelled Islamaphobia and the the person could well be arrested. Criticising religion is not a hate crime, a hate crime is persecuting a follower of the religion but the religion itself should be open to scrutiny. My opinion is ED wants to take this country one step closer towards blasphemy laws which belong in the dark ages of the long and distant past. It's a dangerous step and existing hate crime laws are adequate as they are. No religion and no idea should be beyond criticism and scrutiny period. Edit: Anyway it shouldn't be called Islamaphobia because Islam is not a race or person, it is an idea. The correct name should be Muslimaphobia which is a phobia of the followers of the idea. Guaranteed this new legislation is being pushed by the likes of the Saudi's who control a very big purse ready to invest more in the UK. 13. Just out of curiosity would anyone here like to see blasphemy laws? Would anyone like to see criticism and ridicule of your Guru's made an offence under British Law?
  14. I wouldn't go that far but most white people I know don't trust Pakistani Muslims and this is not a result of the EDL, it's a result of the child grooming scandal. If you really want to know what has done the most damage to community cohesion it is the grooming scandal, that was the catalyst. We are always being told to let the offending community sort out their own problems rather than outsiders moving in but this particlar community never seems to do that. Anyway, all I can see is the mistrust gowing and the Pakistani community becoming more insular, the future doesn't look bright regarding this community. My personal opinion is they brought it all upon themselves.
  15. Well at least he tried, you have to commend him for that.
  16. Sounds like a lot of former football hooligans who used their existing football firm networks to make money from drugs and then retire to Spain. Tommy Robinson tapped into the football thug army and a lot of his soldiers were from existing football firms. But at the end of the day if the Police don't bother patrolling the streets to stop the menace of girls being used as sex slaves then who else will? What other armies or soldiers do we have available to us? There may well be an argument that states that because of the EDL the investigation into sex grooming was elevated to a higher level and ignoring the problem was no longer viable. The EDL had a lot of female support you know.
  17. Well my personal opinon about Jesus is that he replaced the relationship with God with love instead of fear. So if you are a Christian for me you establish a loving relationship with the father and nurture this relationship with good deeds. Love in equals love out so to speak and for me it works. Hell and damnation, not sure about that, that's a realtionship based on fear which was not his message at all.
  18. Well if you want criticism of Islam to be a serious crime vote for the other side: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/generalelection/general-election-2015-labour-will-toughen-hate-crimes-legislation-surrounding-islamophobia-10203918.html
  19. I wouldn't say that (well he might be now but he wasn't to start with) but I did notice security force tactics used at his rallies. For instance government operatives would enter the crowd and stir up trouble thus giving the police the excuse to move in and of course the bad publicity would help break the movement. I personally think he started the organisation to combat radical Islam in his home town of Luton because nobody was doing anything to stop radical preachers on the streets and on university campuses. It really kicked off with the burning of poppies by the Islamists. However the whole thing got completely out of hand and as you say goons and thugs appeared everywhere. But still I admire a bloke who was prepared to literally risk his own life to stand up for what he believed in, because that's what he did in the early days when no one else gave a toss about radical Islam. He's had his life threatened many many times as he came forward and spoke about stuff that no one wanted to hear about and they still don't. And for the record he has always been respectful of Sikhs but with an organisation like the EDL if it got big enough there would be no stopping them. First it would be Muslims, then after that Sikhs and Jews, after that homosexuals etc, it's good the EDL was put down in the end. As far as the EDL attacking Sikhs this is something I wasn't aware of and would like to know more if possible. One more question, what would your Guru say if large numbers of Sikh girls were being used and abused in this way, what would his advice be?
  20. Listen I know this is a controversial subject but I just wonder what people think about this, if this thread is removed I will fully understand why. http://allevents.in/sheffield/is-child-sexual-exploitation-a-muslim-problem/1418653318444464# http://allevents.in/sheffield/is-child-sexual-exploitation-a-muslim-problem/1418653318444464#
