  1. I heard this katha and I think it may help people who are struggling/stressing about unfortunate job situations.
  2. It's true, I'm amritdhari too and the amritdhari boys in my family don't want to marry amritdhari girls. I don't say it but it just makes u feel ugly. But on the bright side when I go to weddings, friends and family complement me and I think wow I don't need to thread my eyebrows, put lots of accessories on, waheguru jis made me naturally beautiful. A lot of non-indians respect u for not giving in to the 'norm'. I'm very lucky that my hubby really appreciated my commitment.... May waheguru ji bless him with gyaan and bring him back on the right path... May he reunite us soon ??
  3. Wow, an inspiration for us all. I guess we're lucky that you've shared this with us as- it's an eye opener that there's still gursikhs out there who have prem. We can do it too! I hope waheguru ji gives us all the precious gift of his name.??
  4. That's really good. I'm trying to learn asa di vaar. My parents have started sehaj paath but I think I may do a full sehaj paath independently - apparently every Sikh should do it atleast once in a life time. What courses are you doing? I was looking at some related to my job but there's not many that are free and useful.
  5. Thanks, yeah water paint on a simple old sketch book I had. It was meant to be me until she started looking a little fat ? but yeah the picture represents my emotions. You really should! I played some of the guru ram das ji shabads whilst doing it. A bit of bhagati in its own way. Lol
  6. You are right and thank you for sharing this reminder because when life's dragging you down you, nobody seems to understand and even your own family will just want you to 'get on with it'. The mind becomes weak and is instantly attracted to any so called 'support'.... What you got to remember is that you don't need anyone to support you, you don't need someone to comfort you- everything you need is within you. Be your own support and nobody will ever be able to bring you down again.
  7. Sorry what I meant is the 3HO kundalini sikhs, I've read a few of their articles on guru sahib
  8. Atleast ur keeping busy- I keep eating chocolate! I feel very tempted to do some art work and the only thing I really want to draw is my long lost hubby - I don't know whether to laugh or cry??
  9. I love guru ram das ji, I feel a sense of peace knowing my life, my marriage is in his hand. I'm sure goreh don't call guru sahib the master of miracles for no reason ?
  10. ? she probably wanted to make most of the opportunity whilst she had social contact with someone outside the house
  11. Just wondering what are you all up to? My job contract is finishing in a few weeks and due to the nature of my job there won't be any job opportunities for the next 2 months. So what are people up to at home? What I've tried and didn't last; - exercise - home growing veg - learning a new instrument
  12. I remember hearing in a katha once that sant isher Singh ji was from a royal family? Maybe I'm confused? Anyone know anything about sant ji? Anyone have any inspirational saakhis?
  13. In my opinion sant ji was amazing. What benti did u make?
  14. Please share ur first hand experience too? may be beneficial to a lot of us
  15. Bhai sahib wrote this in their book too. Bhai Rama Singh ji also states this story in his autobiography alongside some other stories of the power of sukhmani sahib.
  16. Wow this is the power of gurbani! Sukhmani sahib is such a precious gift, I don't think we actually understand how valuable it is. Theres a very similar story to this with the same two pankitis helped a Muslim family- it's from bhai guriqbal Singh jis book on sukhmani sahib. I hope waheguru ji gives us all the love and power to recite gurbani so that we can be closer to him and our worldly problems be resolved. Well done for joining someone to gurbani, may guru sahib bless u.
  17. Wow thanks for these saakhis. I've been searching for stories of prayers being answered online and the internet was full of Christian stories (it made me realise why people turn to Christianity during difficult times). Guru sahib has answered so many ardasa but we've never shared this experiences. I read in bhai ragbir Singh bir's book that we sometimes perceive God as a strict angry person, who wants us to suffer for our past actions, or a God who is detached from us and is helpless due to our karma. It really made me think Whereas in actual fact guru sahib is ready to give us everything, he is loving, forgiving; -guru gobind Singh ji maharaj sacrificed his 4 sons and protected the khalsa, -Guru nanak dev ji visited the worst paapis ever, the people that had no chance I.e. sajjan thug, noor shah magician, kauda rakash.... -guru arjan dev ji sat on a hot plate himself and gave us sukhmani sahib - Guru Harkrishan sahib ji sacrificed their life for us and took away our pain .... Shri harkrishan dhaiye jis dite sab dukh jaye. - Guru teghbhadur jis bani is full of examples of how you will be left alone nobody will stand by you but I don't know why we never hear/forget the part where guru sahib says that if u ask guru sahib for help and support he can make the impossible possible. .... Bal chutkeo badan pare kichu na hoth upaye kaho nanak ab oath har gajj jyu hoth shahye, bal hoya bandan chute sab kich hoth opaye, nanak sab kich tumare haath me tum hi hoth sahye. Yes it is important to accept God's bhana but at the same time guru sahib says 'nirbhau hoye bhajo bhagwaan' ... if you're really stuck in life without fear of judgement or punishment etc run to God and he will help you. Yes accepting bhana is hard but what is harder is having faith during hard times and trusting that your prayers have been heard, remembering 'Jo mange takur apne te soee soee deve'... choosing faith over fear
  18. Thank u, I've been looking for a book to grasp my interest and whilst searching I've started and abandoned a few books but the one you've suggested is just perfect! God bless u and may u keep in chardikala. Thank u
  19. I remember when I was younger my aunty from India visited and stayed at our house and typically she and my mum would have minor but constant fall outs ....it was just so annoying. A few years later, she was coming to stay again and obviously i feared that history would repeat itself. So I found a shabad in the sankat mochan saakhi and I only ready the first two lines of it for 40 times for 40 days (I more innocence and sharda then).... My aunty had many more visits after then and her and my mum haven't had any fall outs since with waheguru jis grace. This is the power of faith and ardas, I didn't doubt the bani or the outcome and I saw results.... Now a days our minds are so advanced we replace faith with fear and doubt.
