  1. http://www.keertan.org/andromeda.php?q=f&a...C+Akaali+Nihang The first one is the one that answers the question. Post after youve listened, good katha worth discussiong. fateh
  2. Baba Jis family is from the pindh Boparai, he does seva at the Gurdwara Sahib in Rakba.
  3. Panth Patshah is a term used by Nihang Singhs when referring to the Jathedar of Budha dal.
  4. the question is answered by Dasam Patshah in the Sri Sarbloh Granth. listen to katha by the late Baba Santa Singh who talks about this.
  5. Baba Ji is from Boparai Pindh, he didnt have any formal education at boparai taksal but was very close with Sant Vaid Ji. Baba Ji recieved his santhiya from Nihang Baba Lehna Singh Ji of Rakba who knew all of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Kanth. He left house at a young age and has done seva across various Guru Ghars for decades. They are famous in the Budha Dal due to how katter they are in their rehat and the amount of naam abhiyas they have done. Baba ji is not very well known outside of the Budha dal, many jathebandi will not have heard of them. He has been largely uninvolved in mainstream affairs and has preferred to carry on doing their bhagti gupt at rakba. Baba Ji has taught santhiya and passed on vidiya to many Singhs from India and some from UK. They have also recently raised the foundation stones for the construction of a taksal/school in rakbha where students will be taught normal education, gurmat vidiya, raag vidiya, ithihasic grantha, horse riding, shastar vidiya etc and English to ensure there are good parchariks for next generation. while be good for people to visit and contribute what they can to the school. Im sure more information will follow soon as Singhs get Dalpanth parchar going, I hear theres a lot of upcoming projects.
  6. Congratulations to all sangata on the appointment of new Panth Patshah. On the occasion of Baba Santa Singhs funeral today, Singhs of the Budha Dal performed the dastar bandi Baba Joginder Singh Rakbhe Vale . The Budha Dal Singh were prevented from entering the funeral ceremony amidst tight police and army security arranged by Badal and Balbir Singh, so they performed a separate ceremony in Patiala. Today also marks the Barsi of Baba Chet Singh who was jathedar before Baba Santa Singh. A very historic day for the Budha Dal, Lakh lakh vadiya to all. Namashkar to Panth Patshah, Singh Sahib Jathedar Baba Joginder Singh 96 Krore, Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal. Panvah Takht.
  7. I think the admins should make this a sticky, fantastic idea.
  8. Someone must have this geezers phone number?
  9. Goodness me, ever heard of the PM function guys? lol
  10. For those people that had hoped for an open debate: http://www.tribuneindia.com/2008/20080506/punjab1.htm#12 Former Jathedar, Akal Takht , Prof Darshan Singh, has refused to appear before the Sikh clergy of Patna Sahib by the May 10 deadline to explain his position for opposing Dasam Granth. In a message faxed to Giani Iqbal Singh, Jathedar Patna Sahib, Prof Darshan Singh has challenged the authority of the Sikh clergy of Patna Sahib to summon him. He said Takht Patna Sahib could deal with regional matters pertaining to the Sikh religion, while Akal Takht being the supreme temporal authority of the Sikhs had the power to touch matters of the entire Sikh community. The stand of Prof Darshan Singh has given the impression that the former Jathedar won’t appear before Patna Sahib despite warning. The Sikh clergy of Patna Sahib may decide unilaterally to excommunicate him from the Sikh Panth. Prof Darshan Singh alleged that he (Giani Iqbal Singh) did not know the parameters and language of the Hukamnama (edict). Quoting from the Gurbani, he said persons like Giani Iqbal Singh need not be excommunicated from the Sikh Panth. “They stand excommunicated from the Panth,” he claimed . Prof Darshan Singh said Giani Iqbal Singh himself had admitted that he had favoured Daljit Singh Bedi, who was dismissed as assistant secretary, SGPC, on charges of moral turpitude at the behest of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and SGPC president Avtar Singh. He said now Giani Iqbal Singh should explain his position who was behind the move to summon him (Prof Darshan Singh) at Patna Sahib? The former Jathedar, Akal Takht, said he had already offered to hold debate on the issue of Dasam Granth which he believed was not Bani of the 10th Sikh Master, Guru Gobind Singh. However, he said he could not hold any talk with a person who equated other ‘Granths’ with Holy Guru Granth Sahib. He said it was unfortunate the controversy over Dasam Granth had sparked when the community was celebrating tercentenary of the Gurta Gaddi bestowed on Guru Granth Sahib. Lol, does no one else find the bit in bold ridiculous. So he agreed to hold a debate about maharajs bani, but was unwilling to talk to people who believe in maharajs bani. That makes a whole lot of sense. "Unfortunate controversy has sparked" - hes the sellout that re-raised the issue having done kirtan of the sri dasam granth sahib bania for over 20 years. He needs to be exposed before he does more damaging parchar, hes more intelligent, better known and more internal than Kala Afghana !!!!
  11. Great post Parwinder Singh. Please show me a picture of a nihang with an ak47.Infact show me a picture of a Nihang Singh with any kind of sophisticated weapon that isnt associated with Badal boy Balbir Singh. Stop waving your judgemental wand around. The only group of Budha Dal Singhs with guns are Balbir Singhs lot who travel around with 4 jeeps full of singhs (mostly his family members) with guns, a VIP siren on his jeep and heavy police protection every where he goes. All the Budha Dal Singhs are backing Baba Surjeet singh and Baba Joginder Singh. Baba Surjeet Singh has been declared a fugitive and has been forced to go underground. Baba Joginder Singhs and the Budha Dals complaints to the government regarding Balbir Singh taking all the Budha Dals money have been rejected as not having enough evidence. Since last year no firearms are allowed at Budha Dal jorh melas, but Balbir Singh calls SEVERAL HUNDRED police and army personel as well as around 10 professional private body gaurds armed with M16s who he brought into maharajs darbar.... You do the maths son. There are also a few Singhs from Baba Bkala that were inovled in capturing Ajit Phoola who have a lot guns. Other than that Singhs dont have much asla. You dont care if you upset the Nihangs and divide the panth by making up false uneducated accusations. Bravo, good luck uniting the panth to support you in your quest for Khalistan. Do you really find it surprising the Nihang singhs are falling over backwards to help when people like you make ignorant comments. Following on from what Baba Ji above has said... Those who have faith in mahapurshs bachan, those who have read the relevant bania and sakhi know what they are supposed to be doing at the present time.
  12. Thanks for reminding us that the Gurus have forbidden tobacco.
  13. Chatnga there is a Gurdwara near Hazoor Sahib, I think it may be Heera Ghat and if I remember correctly the ithihas written there states that all the 96krore Khalsa will have langer together, the rast bast for the langar have been stored there by maharaj.
  14. Yeh because Rattan Singh Bhangu Shaheed, Grandson of Shaheed Baba Mehtab Singh and Jathedar Sham Singh, son of a jinda shaheed, whose lineage gave generations of shaheedi for the panth... yeah he was really an outsider. Vaheguru is reached by Gurparsad alone, thank you for that lesson and sharing your valuable knowledge on Gurbani with us. But whats your point?Reading bani is a way to get Gurparsad, some singhs use shaheedi degh to increase their concentration while doing bani. Is increasing your concentration when doing bani not a way to get Gurparsad by becoming more engrossed in the Gurbani? So Singhs who follow this old tradition are using manmat. And those who atack this tradition, being brought up with their Western Philosophy are using Gurmat? Okay. Dont mock a tradition you know nothing about, speak to the Singhs in India that do it, and that have a 10 hour nitnem a day, tell them they are doing manmat. Have you asked Nihang Singhs that take degh how they interpret the lines of Gurbani? As for the topic of 1980s soormay, was Shaheed Bhai Avtar Singh Brahma not of the Bidha Chand Dal where these puratan traditions are still followed? Im not in any way incouraging people to take bhang, if people think its harmful and shouldnt be taken that their opinion. FACT is that its a centuries old traditions of Nihang Singhs so leave them to get on with it and stop with your 'its manmat its manmat attacks' The drink is also taken to honour the shaheeds, if the shaheeds are being dishonoured im sure the person abusing them will feel their wrath.
  15. "GURBANI when u read first time so it looks u understand the meaning but actually meaning si mouch more different from what u got first time..." Exactly the point I was trying to illustrate, thanks.
  16. Before implying that people who take bhang dont beleive in Gurbani, did it ever occur to people that there are various ways to interpret Gurbani. If we use the popular rationale then we can also conclude that it is against Sikhi to butter your roti, after all Bhagat Fareed ji writes: jinaa khaadhhee choparree ghanae sehanigae dhukh ||28|| Those who eat buttered bread, will suffer in terrible pain. ||28|| Bhang is not taken as a drug, we are brought up in the West to think that it is a drug, what is it at the end of the day its a plant. People take it as drugs which is wrong. which unfortunately many people do an abuse the tradition. As has been mentioned naam is the true drug Gurmukh should strive for. If someone uses bhang to increase their concentration when doing naam and bani that how can we ridicule the statement that it helps them get close to God? Nihang Singhs in India who do amritvela from 12am - 7 am, are you gonna go and tell them what they are doing is wrong when many of us get up at 7am? If someone take bhang and does no naam bani or seva that you can tell them its wrong all you like. Best to ask those who use it how it helps them get to God, rather than ridiculing what is unquestionably an ancient maryada of the Khalsa just because we have been brought up in the West to beleive its a drug. Popular analogy is he who take bhang with a thief will become a theif, he who takes it with a saint will become saintly, and he who takes it with a warrior will become like a warrior.
  17. Great detecive work , Im not sure if RSS were around in the 1800s
  18. anyone who has influence at any media - blogs, panthic newspapers, radio, petitoin starters, do something with the title along the lines of "Sikh Community Held To Ransom" and write about the artifJact being stolen. How would Christains like it if someone stole something of Jesus's from Jerusalem then tried to sell it back to them 150 years later? lets just make sure singhs dont get in a bidding war with each other. we should put our behind whoever can satisfy us that the item will be well preserved in sangata can have darshan of it. not an SGPC job where it will go missing within the year and sold back to us again. Rape us for 100 years then rub it in - theiving lil ***** Any lawyers, if this issue is raised properly and put into prespective im sure we could get mass support - only factor is the time factor. Challo may maharaj do kirpa
  19. Well done to those who have already contacted the Gurdwaras. Lets just make sure we dont outbid each other. Does anyone know who the current own is of the item, dont out rule the chance that someone has started a rumour of his being maharaj's (to circulate more interest in the item) when it infact may not be. Either way it is a very important piece of dying Sikh Heritage which is in desperate need of being preserved. As much as I curse the English for raping and looting our Gurus land, sometimes I woder how much of this stuff would even be around if it wasnt in England. So many shastars and artifacts of our Gurus have gone missing (most often stolen). This is certainly a blow to my heart that such things can be auctioned off and Im sure it us to others, let it encourage us ever more to strive for the preservation of our heritage. When we meet Sants, Jathedars, punjabi politicians, SGPC employees etc we should ask them what efforts they are doing to look after heritage. Do we need new fancy gurdware down the road from another one, or do we need to invest that money in preserving our culture and history?
  20. Those who wish to know the role of Avtarvaad in Sikh Tradition should refer to the works of Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindravale. The English steek of Bhavrasmrit translated by Tirath Singh also contains a very informative section on avtarvaad - its avaiable from DTF for £4 and is a great source of sampradia knowledge.
