  1. you truly are a brave king by giving your mom a couple of whacks. seriously though, that's just ridiculous and shameful... I agree with the post above to attend the Gurudwara and to redirect your internalized anger elsewhere instead of lashing it out physically onto someone else. Start a journal, hit the gym and just try self-improvement which will automatically be noticed by your loved ones. Apart from that, the bare minimum you should truly apologize to your parents and make sure you never do such a thing again.
  2. The NDP did not do bad during the 2011 elections under Jack Layton's leadership and 2019's as they were able to become the opposition party and negotiate some stuff when it come to passing bills (Jagmeet helped to increase the CERB payment for people that lost work during COVID). They have a solid platform but people are often caught under the loop that they're strictly a socialist/communist party etc (they'll raise the taxes on the working class to fund public enterprises). Quite the contrary though, they're a social democratic party and can get voted out when the time comes (provincial elections have seen NDP leaderships come and go). Actually, I think they have become quite popular across the provinces since the last decade as they have secured majority gov't in Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Nova Scotia. Coming this election time, I do think they might be able to form an opposition again if the seats are split between the conservatives and liberals. I guess when the time comes.., maybe down the road....the NDP might have their chance at winning the federal election.
  3. I'd say fat-shaming has become a pretty taboo topic to the point doctors are even being discouraged to recommend weight related solutions to medical problems. Reference article - https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/when-doctors-fat-shame-their-patients-everybody-loses-ncna1045921 However, he is your friend and you know him best, so approaching the topic with him should kind of be subjective on what type of person he is. I have a few male friends that also get quite defensive and hostile when weight and hitting the gym is mentioned- never mind fat shaming. I'd say subtle words of encouragement should be the way to go tbh.
