Anyone linking the "kenyan" style turban to Ramgarhia caste is stupid lol. It came from the Jat-only Sikh Regiment in British India (folded, starched single dastar without a pinch). It's called "kenyan style" as Kenya is where it's most popular today and has a lot of Tarkhan living there but it's originally from Jatts in India. Dastar actually opposes caste as a concept anyway so it really doesn't matter.

Is there a need to insult someone's Dastar style? Feel some shame When you see a Sikh wearing a Dastar you should smile and think "that's my brother" ,not laugh at how he chose to tie his Pagh. Maharaj made a brotherhood in the Khalsa not a fashion contest.

Respectfully, this isn't a good idea bro. This is a Sikh forum so it's best not to be distracted with other topics. Most people who visit this site don't have accounts and have questions about Sikhi so we do seva here by educating the Jaante as well. Maybe create a subreddit on Reddit for "casual Sikhs" over there. It would be better as you could link that with r/sikh. And also there are like 4 people still on this site so you won't get much response. It's really inactive here most people use reddit now

Sikhs can sleep nanga-sirr if they choose to . Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM. The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh

1) How is it out of Rehit? "tie your turban layer by layer/turn by turn" - it doesn't say "every time" anywhere. And Guru Sahib is normally very specific about things, even the material an Amrit Batta can be. They were this specific about some things but didn't include "roz" in that line of Hukam? 2) I can't tie it fresh every day cos of the injury I described. Can't you read? (Genuine question)

yhh that's cos we keep men and women separate to make women feel comfortable here in the West. In India nobody would dare to do anything "pervy" cos they would probably get beaten to death but over here we can't do anything except kick them out lol so best measure is to keep them separate

Ramgarhia Gurdwara disrespected Sikhi from their name alone. What happened was apparently Jatts used to take over the Gurdwara committees back in the 60s so Tarkhans went and opened their own Gurdware called "Ramgarhia" to deter us from going to their Committees and even from doing Darshan in those Gurdware. In some you actually have to be Tarkhan to join the committee, it's disgusting. They always use the excuse "Ramgarhia isn't a caste, it's to honour "Jassa Singh Ramgarhia". Lies lol they know what they're doing and even got the cheek to put in writing "committee seva... must be from a Ramgarhia Sikh family". It's nothing to do with "Ramgarhia Misl" it's just to keep Jatts out so Tarkhans can have their own Gurdware. Forget "langar maryada" - the langar is to show equality and hospitality for all regardless of background/caste and they failed step one

yes I think they make you remove metal. No problem tho man Sikhi isn't fanatic yk? We can remove kakkars for medical reasons like this lol I can't imagine Guru Nanak Dev Ji telling you off for removing kakkars in an MRI scan.

Did you actually sit there and count how many man there were? Also allow be consistent with the waffle don't js improvise. And man said "THE Panjab" lol defo gora I'd avoid saying you "took on 8 guys" lol could easily be misinterpreted...- 20 replies

you claim to be Sikh. Sikhi: "Mithi bolo ke saareyaan nu maaf karde hamesha" I don't think calling someone "Inbred" and a "knob" because they didn't believe you beat up 8 guys is in line with that version of Sikhi, preaching forgiveness and sweet words. You know "inbred" basically means "Bhen C" in Punjabi right? Would you say that in a Gurdwara even if someone annoyed you? I said "retarded" because that isn't something I would avoid saying in the Gurughar, it ain't a swear.- 20 replies

Lies. Listen carefully: if 8 men attacked you and failed then one of three things happened: 1) They weren't trying to hurt you - They probably wanted to intimidate you but not get charged for something serious like GBH or murder 2) They were physically retarded. The only way you could actually beat 8 people unarmed like you said is if they were seriously disadvantaged even 8-1 number advantage. Unless these boys were severely disabled or like 5 years old each there's no way they were tried to hurt you and failed 3) They beat you so hard that you're hallucinating right now. As in they gave you brain damage from the katappa and you genuinely believe that you beat them. tldr: If these "8 people" were able-bodied adult men and were actually trying to hurt you, there is no way in hell you made it out unscathed, let alone actually beat them. You're either lying/seriously deluded or these mans were blue badge holders.- 20 replies

bro ur not the first and you won't be the last to have a few scraps. Is the draw time for a two foot long sword or a 12 inch kirpan less? When u have 5-6 ppl rush at ur from different directions draw time does matter - once the sword is out ur golden to take our all 6 attackers but if you can't get it out fast whenever you want then there's a problem I'm not arguing Paaji i respect you I just want to learn and share my views ji sorry If i offended anybody :)- 20 replies

It's not okay for Singhs. Even 10 years down the line, the boys who tie this durag style patka act all "gangsta". 1) Most boys avoid tying a Joora because they feel embarrassed or they're lazy about learning to tie a Dastar. But Singhs don’t shy away from fear—we confront it and master it until it’s gone 2) Wearing a durag-style patka can make you act like a kala. You look in the mirror and see yourself in some rap video, living a lifestyle far from Sikh values. It mixes Punjabi and Black culture, but we don’t belong to anyone else’s culture—we stick to our Sikh identity. Look at Apnaj and how he disgraces Sikhi in a durag style patka 3) It replaces the Dastar. In Punjab, boys tie Dastars early because they wouldn’t wanna be caught wearing a Joora patka with formalwear as adults—it looks dumb. But if durag-style patkas become acceptable, boys don’t feel pressured to start tyinga Dastar since a still durag looks good tbh and is easier to tie (but it rejects the Sikh identity). 4) It disobeys the teachings of Bhai Daya Singh Ji (Panj Pyaare), who told us to tie joora at the top of under Dastar. Choosing a durag patka disobeys Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s guidance the Panj Pyaare - "ਜੂੜਾ ਸੀਸ ਕੇ ਮੱਧ ਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਖੋ, ਅਤੇ ਪਾਗ ਬੜੀ ਬਾਂਧੋ" (tie the joora in the middle of the head, and tie your pagg) Durag-style patkas let Singhs give in to fear, act like kaaleh, skip tying Dastars, claim Black culture over Sikhi, choose fashion over tradition, and disobey Bhai Daya Singh Ji. That’s not who we’re meant to be. Why would it be okay?

They are taking over from within. They knew in our Gurus time they couldn't win by force so now they're trying to come into countries acting all "working" and then they spread their faith from within. We were here long before them and the gorreh love us. They know we fought for them and that we are loyal, hardworking and truthful. To them, anyone who doesn't "submit" (that's what muslim actually means) is an enemy. Just like Aurangzeb and Wazir Khan, all the way to when they would groom Apnian to convert them in London back in the 90s. They can make their prayers discreet but they CHOOSE not to. They want to "normalise" their faith. Once everyone's familiar with it then they will try to force it on people even more. Not many will convert to a completely foreign idea but one that everyone knows already may give them a chance

it was. Look up his picture he looks like the spawn of the devil, literally. I don't get scared easily but I actually had a jump scare googling him he looks like pure evil

Paaji if you look carefully when Southall was mainly Sikh (when the Sangat first settled) those areas were great. Ilford is a prime example. Today everyone knows that place is a dump but back when it was just apne and jews the place was spotless. Problem is in London, it's always Jews in an area first and the Sikhs come to stay for about 20 years. But then the <banned word filter activated> move in we all run like it's the plague (we all know why). Same thing happened to Southall, now we're losing it to Somalis rapidly. Issue is that Sikhs make an area good, but when the <banned word filter activated> come we all move and leave it for them to ruin. We need to flock an area and STICK TO IT like they do. Had Sikhs not left Ilford and sold houses to them It would still be okay.

Let them try to come for us. Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj gave us a Dastar to stand out and a shastar to defend it. Package deal. Singhs say in schools "another kid pulled my joora down" then I say "tere Shastar kithe si, Maharaj ne sanu ik talwar ditta si, pagg nu rakshe vaaste" We're Shastar dhari for a reason. To protect ourselves and others. And for Singhs in the region, what is stopping them getting 15-20 Singhs together and going down to protect our Gurdware and even other places of faith like we're meant to? Happened in Ilford back in like 2013 with the racist riots, a hundred Singhs and Kaurs flooded Karamsar Gurdwara to guard it. Sadly our Sardaari has been lost apparently.

We're still here bro don't worry . The Singhs on Reddit aren't as nice or knowledgeable as those on here, I don't really like them. For me, this site was a staple of London singhs back in the 2000s which I love. Back when we repped Patkas, Shahi Turbans and Dumalla Sahibs instead of a little black durag tied w a patka cos we're scared to look like real Singhs with a joora on our heads like Maharaj told us to and rep the panth

Reddit bro. We've covered all the major topics on here a long time ago. All that's left now is more modern news, which is more convenient to share on Reddit due to being able to upload more media and plus there are more people there anyway. Then people don't need loads of different passwords for numerous forums as it's all in one place
