  1. best thing is to follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada and use common sense for gray areas. Anything outside of that's irrelevant tbh that code is what Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the 5 Pyaare agreed on when creating Amrit in 1699
  2. No but an Assault Rifle will. Shastar Vidhya can't help you there. What's my point? Learn shooting training cos YOU @caveman can't beat men with an AK47
  3. Who tf are u calling Mughal? Come meet me irl I keep telling you. Don't be scared. The Mughals used to talk big and act small just like you, Singhs weren't scared to fight. Either come fight in person or stop running your mouth behind a screen. Valentines Park, East London.
  4. Would Gun training be better or Nihang shastar vidhya? Exactly. No amount of Shastar Vidhya is beating a trained man with an Assault Rifle. We're not playing COD lol
  5. Ohhhh sorry. I forgot my whole argument is fake if I get the names wrong. Yh I meant Baba Buddha Sahib Ji but the point still stands And why are you online at 1AM on Sunday lol don't you have work in the morning? Vaileh bethiyaa ghar de vich lol lagta ki tere kohl koi kam nhi haiga
  6. but yh probably. Just like how Punjabi dress and food got influenced by Mughal Rule, so did our fighting styles. Guru Sahib used whatever weapons/martial arts were the most modern and effective at the time and this would've been that at the time
  7. To track Shastar Vidya's history, we must look at Baba Deep Singh Ji - story is that Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught them and they passed it down to Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji who taught the Sikh Army. But I think we should abandon these old arts to learn new ones. If Maharaj were here today I think they would tell us to learn the newest weapons, eg to train pistols over gatka. Bhai Dalla gave them a musket as it was the newest weapon back then, and they loved it. It's cool to research our history but that is not the warrior side of the Khalsa, it is the history. The Sikh warrior culture would be like "Before, Sikhs did gatka. End of... now we train shooting and MMA".
  8. lol and I saw you on the reddit talking about how Kenyan Sikhs are ruining the Panth. Like I said, I don't see "jatt sikh" as being any more harmful than "Punjabi or Kenyan Sikh", it's just a category. It only becomes a problem when we make it one imo
  9. Paaji my point is that people say "jatt sikh" isn't a thing as "Jatt" as a concept is against Sikhi but I don't see how that is the case. Just like how we say "Punjabi Sikh" or "Kenyan Sikh" (here in the UK those are the two main ones) in Punjab itself it just gets broken down further into "Jatt Sikh", "Ramgarhia Sikh" etc. I don't see how Jatt is against Sikhi. I know songs about Jatts normally are about Daaru and such but to be fair that's just Punjab as a whole now, especially with drugs. I don't see anything wrong with being "jatt Sikh" unless someone uses it to put other Sikhs down for no reason. Identifying as such is no worse than saying one is "kenyan Skh" or "punjabi Sikh" imo
  10. In my opinion, all Gurdware should follow only the Sikh Rehat Maryada, be named after Gurus or their local area only and have no pictures of Sants in them. They should never do "Aarti Aarta" with lamps or anything. They should look like this: 1) Named only like "Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurdwara" or "Crystal Palace Gurdwara" if there are no other ones in the area 2) Should ignore the concept of "sects" completely. There should be no mention of Nihangs, Naamdharis or anything. Just act like they don't exist and focus only on the teachings of the Gurus 3) Should follow Sikh Rehat Maryada - eg: NO BHANG for Nihangs and no meat on the premises to honour all faiths who eat there (even though Sikhs can eat meat outside the Gurdwara) 4) Be completely ritual-free as Maharaj recommended. Therefore, there is no need for "Aarti-Aarta" with trays and lamps. Guru Nanak Dev Ji told us this is not necessary. No need for joht lamps, dhoop or anything like that. Only focus should be on the Gurus. 5) There shouldn't be pictures of any "Sants" or "Baba" who never met the Gurus. Baba Deep Singh Ji, for example, would be fine but no modern day figures like Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala. Only pictures in the Gurdwara should be of the Gurus or the people they personally met and trusted like Baba Deep Singh Ji or Bhai Mardana Ji. This way, Sikhi remains "pure" imo. We just focus strictly on the Gurus and avoid anything "ritualistic"
  11. imo opinion Sikhi has become like Christianity, Islam or Hinduism where we've got different Gurdware for different sects like they have shia and sunni mosques, catholic/protestant Churches and Mata/Krishna Mandirs. Forget Nihang, Naamdhari, Udasi, Ramgarhia or whatever. I think we should just have Gurdware named after the Gurus that all follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada. No Bhang for Nihangs, no meat in Patra Gurdware and no "Ramgarhia" name in a Gurdwara. It should just be like "Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji Gurdwara" which has no drugs in it, no meat in it and just follows Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj, with no pictures of Sants there
  12. You ARE nothing lol. I know I'd give you a slap if you name a time and place. Come to Valentines Park in Ilford, prove to me you really fought 8 men with knives all on your own like you claim to have done. Sick of you little keyboard warriors acting like fighters, come and show me lol. Flippin w@nker you probably got this forum running on one tab and pornhub running in the next lol. When you're done nutting over ur own sister come and fight me in person mai tenu ik minute vich teekh karaanga saaleyo
  13. @caveman F the"Ramgarhia Sabha" you stupid plonker. The only way Sikhi should be is "Singh Sabha", meaning "all the Singhs (or sikhs)". Not the political movement cos idc about that either, I mean the idea of one Khalsa, undivided by caste who all follow the teachings of our 10 Gurus. TLDR: You wasted ur time posting all that BS cos nobody cares about ur Ramgarhia Panth's origins. We care about why a Gurdwara is being built on the basis of "Ramgarhia" instead of Sikh. Answer this question or we'll leave you to bark like the dogs outside my house in India
  14. You need to open your ears and listen to the BS that flies out ur mouth. I don't give a flying fukhra where it started or why. Caste should be nowhere near a Gurdwara. Ramgarhia and Jatt are not actually castes but the issue is that in some Ramgarhia Gurdwareh you need to be Tarkhan to do committee seva there. That ain't right. Do you drive a car bro? Did ur ever learn not to drive too close to the one in front cos you can't see the road? That's literally you: you get so focused on one small detail of the argument that you miss what we're actually talking about. IDGAF whether it started in the 60s or not, I care that people are making Gurdware for Ramgarhia people only and naming it that way.
  15. There are only 4 castes in India and Jatt isn't one of them. "Jatt" is a sub-community within a caste, not a caste itself. And we (I'm jatt so don't call me offensive lol) aren't even that high, we only rank 3rd out of the 4 castes but have become very respected due to our presence in Punjabi media and the amount of land we own as a community. How is being proud of being Jatt "wrong" in Sikhi - we're not proud of our "caste" (we can't be cos it's not even a high one lol). If anything, Jatts have helped beat the Indian caste system. We literally rose from its bottom to people admiring our lifestyle. So "Jatt" shouldn't be a taboo topic in Sikhi until it becomes one (eg: making "Jatt Gurdware" like Tarkhans did)
  16. Try your local Gurdwara, I don't know about you but one of my local ones actually has a board for it. And for some reasons a lot of Granthis out here double up as like the Pind matchmaker. I recommend you go for it but it IS sorta funny to those not looking at getting involved, it's like Name: Jaspreet Kaur Family Background: Jatt Sikh (Amritdhari) Job: Finance manager or Name: Gurpreet Singh Family Background: Ramgarhia Sikh Job: Teacher
  17. Anyone linking the "kenyan" style turban to Ramgarhia caste is stupid lol. It came from the Jat-only Sikh Regiment in British India (folded, starched single dastar without a pinch). It's called "kenyan style" as Kenya is where it's most popular today and has a lot of Tarkhan living there but it's originally from Jatts in India. Dastar actually opposes caste as a concept anyway so it really doesn't matter.
  18. Is there a need to insult someone's Dastar style? Feel some shame When you see a Sikh wearing a Dastar you should smile and think "that's my brother" ,not laugh at how he chose to tie his Pagh. Maharaj made a brotherhood in the Khalsa not a fashion contest.
  19. Respectfully, this isn't a good idea bro. This is a Sikh forum so it's best not to be distracted with other topics. Most people who visit this site don't have accounts and have questions about Sikhi so we do seva here by educating the Jaante as well. Maybe create a subreddit on Reddit for "casual Sikhs" over there. It would be better as you could link that with r/sikh. And also there are like 4 people still on this site so you won't get much response. It's really inactive here most people use reddit now
  20. Sikhs can sleep nanga-sirr if they choose to . Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM. The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh
  21. 1) How is it out of Rehit? "tie your turban layer by layer/turn by turn" - it doesn't say "every time" anywhere. And Guru Sahib is normally very specific about things, even the material an Amrit Batta can be. They were this specific about some things but didn't include "roz" in that line of Hukam? 2) I can't tie it fresh every day cos of the injury I described. Can't you read? (Genuine question)
  22. yhh that's cos we keep men and women separate to make women feel comfortable here in the West. In India nobody would dare to do anything "pervy" cos they would probably get beaten to death but over here we can't do anything except kick them out lol so best measure is to keep them separate
  23. Ramgarhia Gurdwara disrespected Sikhi from their name alone. What happened was apparently Jatts used to take over the Gurdwara committees back in the 60s so Tarkhans went and opened their own Gurdware called "Ramgarhia" to deter us from going to their Committees and even from doing Darshan in those Gurdware. In some you actually have to be Tarkhan to join the committee, it's disgusting. They always use the excuse "Ramgarhia isn't a caste, it's to honour "Jassa Singh Ramgarhia". Lies lol they know what they're doing and even got the cheek to put in writing "committee seva... must be from a Ramgarhia Sikh family". It's nothing to do with "Ramgarhia Misl" it's just to keep Jatts out so Tarkhans can have their own Gurdware. Forget "langar maryada" - the langar is to show equality and hospitality for all regardless of background/caste and they failed step one
