  1. I agree with SmartSingh.... You need a good tabla if you want to learn so that you can actually understand what you're doing wrong and stuff... But it doesn't need to be the BEST TABLA EVER or anything like that. Any of you guys like tabla masters here? Or learn from tabla masters? I doubt it... but I know who SmartSingh learns from, and I know a guy that learned from Zakir Hussein (and Allah Rakha) for 8 years and he says the same thing. In the end I would say this though: BORROW a tabla for your first few lessons, that'll give you time to see if you really want to learn and stuff before you go spending your money.
  2. Tejinderpal Singh does the second here.
  3. Where in India are you headed? There's different rules for stuff in India :umm: lol Like you prolly don't want to get it from Amritsar And you really wanna make it sound like you know what you're talking about (or they might jip you without you knowing it) Let us know when you're going if you still haven't gotten one yet (or are thinking about getting another one :umm: lol)
  4. BUT if you can't get enough sleep at night (even though it is best) then naps ARE okay...
  5. Meh, I'd rather get it from India if I could... And I'm not from the UK, so can't help you there. But I would definitely get a good one; if you're really wanting to learn, you need a good one to start off with.
  6. This is 8 days old and has already been discussed...
  7. ^ I think that's more metaphorical.
  8. How about it doesn't matter guys? I'm not going to go to India and read ALL of it anyways; I couldn't do that with ANY of the old handwritten saroops, they wouldn't let me have it for 3 days.
  9. But what about the one word that Guru Gobind Singh changed? Doesn't it make it different then? Somewhat? I don't even know how true that is, just pointing it out though...
  10. I'm sorry, but aren't there like 100 threads exactly like this one? ...
  11. I don't get what kind of answer you're looking for...
  12. They had multiple rounds of this voting thing, and it didn't make it through, didn't get enough votes.
  13. My bad, I remember that part too now.
  14. The way I heard it was: It was the Adi Granth composed by Guru Arjun Dev Ji was stolen by some people. This was during Guru Gobind Singh's time, and he re-read it by heart and had it rewritten. There was only one change; one word from Khalasaa, to Khalsaa--I'm not sure why, I heard a few different reasons, maybe to make it different from the one that was stolen, maybe it was actually just an error, or maybe he just felt like it was better for some reason, I dunno. Anyways, then he said that whoever read that one would go blind, and supposedly to this day nobody has done so. It's just what I've heard, I also don't know if it's true or not.

    Mind elaborating?
  16. I think he meant that the Sikhs that have statues of Hindu idols are "stupid". I agree. According to the Rehit Maryada by the SGPC, we respect all religions, and we can study their texts for various reasons, but we're not meant to believe them or follow them.
  17. hmm good point. But it would have been good in SUPER BOOSTING awareness of Sikhs in the world, I thought. And that was kind of a joke; what kind of stupid boycott would it be for me to not vote because they took it out? I'm not voting really because I think they're all good choices, and I'm just waiting to find out the results, I don't mind any of them being the new wonders.
  18. LOL Okay, there's no point, it's just something people like to do... What's hard to get about this? It IS a waste of time. They COULD do better things. You're absolutely right; what else do you want to hear?
  19. None, cuz they took the golden temple out :umm:
