I am not comparing. We are merely spreading the beliefs of Sikhism. If Guru Nanak Dev Ji, did not want anyone to become Sikh. Then why would he have created Sikhism? Just for fun? I am sure all the Gurus would love the fact that people become true Sikhs. As I said its not about converting. Its about teaching. If people choose to become Sikh from these teachings then that can only be a good thing. There is no force or coercion. As I said if they want to become Sikh that is good, if they feel it is not for them then that is also good. It is not about disrespecting or saying other faiths are wrong. We believe our faith to be the true way. Do you think Sikh should not go out there and talk about their faith and just keep it behind closed doors for know one to know about? Do you think organisations such as basics of sikhi should he closed? When Guru Nanak went to Sri Lanka. was he not happy when many left Hinduism and became sikhs? Guru Ji went to spread the message of Sikhism. Yet according to you it was just for fun. He really wanted them to stay hindu. The truth is he was happy whatever faith they chose to be. whether they stayed hindu or became sikh. Who are you to say who has mastered and who has not? Converting others in not just a matter of doing it face to face yourself. - Ie you can help with it in all kinds of ways. Such as by donating to people like basics of sikhi who are doing the job. helping by creating websites or doing all kinds of things to help with it. Instead of just sitting on your ar$e and criticizing others. Your obviously one of them left wing Sikhs. Who would like nothing more to be celebrating christmas, eating turkey and trying to make all Sikhs like you. You need to toughen up and smell the coffee because at the moment you are comming across as panzified tree hugging Sikh. Anyone know the latest on basics of Sikhi? I remember when Jugraj was running the organisation it was doing really well. Many videos were getting high view counts and it was greatly popular.Ie hyde park. Speakers corner. Parchaar events up and down the country. But since he has gone and other parharics have come in. The channel doesnt seem to be getting the same level of views or popularity. I have also noticed that not many events are happening these days. Has the group come to stand still with a lack of ideas? I know Jugraj was the real brains behind it all. Since his passing it looks like the rest of the team are not doing much or have no real direction.

Good Idea. That is all great. Ie to set a good example. So people are impressed with Sikhs moral character ect. But we need more action. Ie Lets set up websites purely aimed at non Sikhs. Lets set up Sikh missionary and learning centres. So people can come and learn about the Sikh faith. I have already set up a Sikh missionary centre. For people to learn about the faith. I am in the process of bringing more awarness about it. Its all about action instead of words.

I think you could be refering to one of my topics here. Let me explain. So if we believe something is good and will greatly help and be beneficial to a persons life. Why not share it with the world? Is Sikhism a faith just for people who were lucky to be born into the faith and something to be kept private and not talk about it? Guru Nanak Dev Ji went to various places on earth to spread the faith. Why should we continue not to do so. Also there is a big difference when Sikhs preech to the way muslims do. Sikhs rather teach about the Sikh faith and do not criticise other faiths. We mainly concentrate on our own faith. We do not say things like ' our faith is better then yours'. Or try and come up with arguement against their faith. We also do not pressurise anyone to convert. We just teach our faith and are happy wheather someone chooses to become a sikh, stay in their faith or even if they dont have a faith.With muslims its a self reward. Convert and you get extra wine and women in heaven. Muslims and christians as we all know use all kinds of underhanded methods. They pressurise and use false deception aswell as other underhanded tactics. Theres a big difference my friend, with the Sikh way of parchaar and the muslim and christian way.

Apart from Jesus cant think of any virgin births. I think Christ's birth is the only truly verified and proven virgin conception that all agree was a miracle.

What do we say when we preech? Ie what are our techniques we use for persuading people that Sikhism is the right and true path? Lets face it. If we dont go out and say Sikhism is the true path. Then will anyone bother becoming Sikhs? Apart from those who are quite intellegent and enlightened who will be able to appreaciate what Sikhism is. But the average person on the street will find it difficult to comprehend the message and beauty of Sikhism. For instance muslims go around making arguements for islam and have various techniques for converting. ie they tend to say everone apart from a muslim is going to hell. Which frightens people into converting. What do Sikhs have and what can we say to get the message through of our faith. We need something that will open their eyes and make them interested in our faith and beliefs. We need need to use language and concepts that truly touch their hearts and make them connect. If we dont think our path is the truest path. will anyone else think that? We need a message that resonates with the masses. Uk is basically athiest. So we have alot of people who we could make Sikh. At the moment Sikhs basically come across as a religion and faith that does not seek or really wants anyone to become Sikh. But our converting technique needs to be good. What can we say that will get them to become Sikhs and prove to them that Sikhism is the best faith. Ie any miracles performed?

I was watching a basics of sikhi video. And on that it was stated that in the uk there are only a total of 2 full time parcharics. Out of a population of over 600.000 we only have 2 active people who are trying to preach the Sikh faith. Is it any wonder no one is becomming sikhs yet thousands become muslims every year. Coz we are just sitting around on our a$$ waiting for things to happen. To many of us like to talk but no action.

What is the best way to attract or maybe a better word teach people about the Sikh faith. For instance jehovah witnesses knock on peoples doors and talk about their faith. Many also hand out leaflets outside tube stations. I am not sure how successful they are with these methods. Muslims set up stalls on the high street. What are Sikhs doing or could be doing that is effective in teaching, educating and spreading the faith? Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking one way is to hand out leaflets. But the only drawback is many may throw them away and not read them and thus disrespect the faith. The positives at the moment Sikhs channels = thus reaching millions everyday who can watch. But sadly not enough programs aimed at non Sikhs. Seems to be dominated by boring punjabi news stories. Should be more parcharic type shows. Showing how to become a Sikh and what Sikhs belive in. Yet all there seems to be is non stop shabads which are good but not so much educating. The producers of these channels lack creative ideas to do new educating and exciting shows for the youth and non Sikhs. So they just fill it with shabads and 24/7

Forget about withdrawing from Indian atms. 90% of the banks in india dont accept uk cards plus most dont have no cash in them. Also many dont even work. In short dont rely on indian atms. They are a complete nightmare not to mention damn expensive. As every time you withdraw you get charged. Atms in short should only be used in emergency when you have no other option. Best thing to do is take some time and calculate your expenses for the duration of your stay in India. ie hotels, food, transport, shopping and other costs. Then simply withdraw pounds currency from the uk. Take this in your luggage. preferably hand luggage. When in india simply exchange the money to rupees. Can be done all at once. Or when needed. that is the best way. And you dont get all these charges ie with using western union and using atms. Saying that western union is the second best option other then taking english money with you.

The goreh even know about what Sikhs did in the world wars. We can spread our faith in peace. There is no anti sikh feeling. We can use our well liked status to our advantage. Are Sikhs and hindus the UK's best migrant community? Out of all the people that came to the uk over years throughout history. Are there any better then us. Ie think about all the migrant communities. Polish, Irish, Blacks carribean, black african, Europeans, Muslims, Middle eastern, Chinese, Jews, Porkistanis, bangladeshi, and others. Out of all these different nationalities, religions and communities. Sikhs and Hindus stand out as being the best. We have successfully integrated to the british way of life. You never hear of conflicts between us and whites like muslims are always having. We are highly educated and successfull.We have a great relationship with the white people who respect us. Many can now distinguish us from muslims and praise us as being law abiding and respectful community.

I dont believe in this maharaja nonsence. Some people actually look up to these so called kings and queens. I think it is wrong to say. ' he was the last maharaja of the sikhs' He was certainly not my maharaja. Infact If I would have met him He would get one big thapar against his silly face. That is a big list and great to see so many varied websites. But I am talking about the non Sikhs out there experience. A simple website for them to understand Sikhism that has everything they need in one place. Also we need a parchaar sort of website. A website specifically designed for people interested in Sikhism or people who have newly chosen Sikhism as a faith. It will make us come across as a welcoming faith that wants and encourages new followers. So many sites out their are about politics and punjabi current affairs which many non sikhs are not interested in. Lets have pictures of sikhs of all nationalities and races.
