  1. theres been alot of discussion on mixed marriages . ie Sikhs marrying non Sikhs. well i know someone who works for the marriages births register. which has all the stastics on all the marriages in the UK. and what religion each partner is that is married. you can view these online. i checked the scotland records which shows Sikhs and muslims are the most likely to marry within their own religion. it showed that marriages between Hindus and Sikhs was increasing though. just thought id let everyone know. instead of all the discussion about muslims marrying Sikhs. we can actually see the real stats of how many are marrying out of religion and to which reliigon.
  2. well basicaly i was wondering whats peoples views are on this.
  3. Bhatras are not a sect. they are mainstream Sikhs.
  4. Hello all. i am from the Bhatra community. but class myself as a Sikh. Bhatra Sikhs are a well establisehd community in the UK. and have been here for well over a 100 years. some people might not have heard of Bhatra Sikhs because they have not come across them. this is mainly due to were Bhatra Sikhs are settled. they are mainly located in Sea Ports across the UK. in places like Cardif, Bristol, glasgow, Southampton. where they form the majority of Sikhs. you will find that Bhatras are very nationalistic and Fiercely orthodox in Sikhsim.
  5. first of all. never give in to bullies. this guy is pathetic picking on a girl. my advice would be to stay away from him. is he in your class?
  6. G.Kaur, opps i didnt see this post. sorry to see that it didnt work. i guess your condition might be different to mine. and everyones scalp/hair is different. i posted some advice in my previous post. maybe you could try that. and see if the itching/dandruff/hair loss stops. hopefully it will. i would also reccomend not blow drying your hair. but becuase you obviously have long hair. its difficult to dry it with a towel, which is a better option. becuase blow drying is not good for the hair and makes it to dry and unhealthy. if everything ive posted doesnt work. then maybe you should give the medication/lotions that your got from the dermatologist a try.
  7. G.Kaur, further advice i would suggest that you make sure you are rinsing your hair thoroughly after shamppoing. i think women probably suffer from the condition of dandruff more. becuase they have very long hair. also if your wearing a Keshki. that could be making your problem worse. its obviously worn for religious reasons, but if its affecting your hair condition its understandble not to wear it. sorrry if i have offended anyone. when you cover your scalp with a cap or fabric in your case it makes the hair more oily ie the sebum. the dandruff feeds on that oil. so you get white patches and your scalp becomes itchy. maybe you should not wear it for a while to see if it gets better. i know after wearing a bandana/cap my hair would get alot more greasy and oily which in turn would make my hair itch alot and i would get more dandruff. i wouldnt suggest putting oil in your hair. if your scalp/hair is anything like mine it will just make your hair more oily and itch more. which is what happened to me when i used oil. hope that helped.
  8. if a girl is offering it on a plate. then any guy regardless of religion will go for her. if muslim girls were offereing on a plate. sikh guys would go for her. at the end of the day. its the girls fault. this girl knew how much hurt she would cause by her actions. but she thought fack em. im dating this muslim and ill probably end up converting. to hell with anyone else.
  9. i dont see the probelem with this. if the girls wants to run off with a paki. let her. who cares about these girls. they oviously have no respect for their religion, their family or themselves. the on thing they respect is the musclmaan and bowing down to allah.
  10. this was posted by a someone on a muslim forum. I remember my cousin telling me about this when it happened. She studied dentistry with my cousin in Birmingham. The Sikh girl who killed the wife is apparantly so stunning that she had every man after her. I can't understand why a woman who has everything going for her would ruin her career and life and another woman's over a guy! No man is worth it. Apparently people who know the husband say thay he is no saint himself and was not forced to marry, and in fact had something to do with the murder indirectly by encourging her to kill the wife. I blame the man more than the woman. I feel sorry for the woman who got killed, (may she rest in peace) but from what I know everything happens for a reason and maybe her short life would have prevented her and her future child further unhappiness. why is that we see so many stories of sikh girls who are willling to anything to be with a muslim? whats the attraction? ive never felt an attarction towards muslims girls?
  11. i dont think there is any connection with washing your hair eveyday and hairloss. infact you can use head and shoulders everyday as its ph balanced. you could do a test. wash your hair like you normaly do and see how much hair you lose in the shower. then wash it everyday for a week and see how much hair you lose. i notciced that when i washed my hair everyday i didnt see any hair loss ie i didnt see any hair falling on my hands in the shower. i found that although washing your hair is probably alot of hassle and idealy its best not to wash your hair everday. i know many people who wash their hair everyday and they dont have any hair loss. i wash mine eveyday because i get alot of dandruff and if i dont my scalp starts to itch to the point where it drives me crazy lol. however the only reason i do is becuase of my scalp problem and if i didnt wash it i would get a very itcy scalp. hair loss can be caused by a few other probelms also. so its best to see a dermatologist to rule out any other cause of hair loss.
  12. G.Kaur im not sure about the garnie shampoo causing it. because it would have stopped by now after you stopped using that particular shampoo. well half the time the dematologist dont know how to treat it themsleves from my experience. depends on the dematogists. but you said you have hair loss which maybe due to something else not associated with the dandruff. but i think in your case it is probably the itchy scalp that is causing the hairloss. i would say its best to get it checked out by a dermatogist. they gave me a blood test to see if they could find anything that was causing my hairloss apart from my itchy scalp. but it turns out that it was due to me scratching my hair all the time that was causing me to lose hair. it maybe that you have female pattern hairloss?? which runs in the family. i dont mean to shock you but there could be a number of reason for the hairloss. well the reason you might be losing hair everytime you shampoo is becuase. you may wash your hair every three days? which is to late. by that time the dandruff has increased and become very itchy so when you wash your hair the scalp has already become very dry, and unhealthy so your hair is weak hence it results in hairloss when you wash it at that stage. thats why i thought you should wash it everyday so your hair/scalp doesnt get into a bad state and when you wash it the hair wont fall out becuase its not weak and full of dandruff. the above worked for me. however everyone is different and obviousy you have been advised not to use head and shoulders. so its best not use it in that case. P.s the tablets they gave me had some long name i cant remember it was about 5 years ago and they gave me a lotion but cant remember the name unfortunatly. sorry.
  13. G.Kaur, i totally understand your condtion and what you are going through. it sounds very similar to what i have. it looks like you might have 'seborric dermatisis' which is what i have i think. basicaly most peoeple shed dead skin from their scalp. but people who have excess dandruff they get more dandruff and their scalp sheds more of the dead skin. hence why you get alot of dandruff in a short period of time. i have also been suffering from hairloss due to the itching that the dandruff causes. ie when i scratch my hair. hairs come out and then they dont grow back becuase the hair folicles have been damaged dues to the scratching of the scalp. you must not mistake normal dandruff for the condition you have. most people get dandruff. but theres is a condition where you basicaly get loads of it. to the point the scalp has alot of white patches and it itches alot. you could say 'extreeme dandruff' now i went to the dcotors for the condition and he gave me nizoral. which Initially causes some hair loss but it works. anway, i was also given some tablets and he gave me some other shampoo to use. but i didnt use them becuase of the side effects. the condition you have always gets worse in winter so remember to take more care with your hair at this time. now theres no cure for excess dandruff you can only control it. the best thing ive found to work is use Head and shoulders every day or every other day. using it every day works for me. i no longer get big clumps od dandruff in my hair and its not itching anymore. and the hairloss has stopped because im not scratching my scalp anymore. personaly i dont like washing my hair everyday. but head and shouldsers is suitable for everyday use. but i have to wash my hair everyday to remove the andruff and the grease that builds up. i think youll find thats the only way of controling it. you must wash everyday as it will stop any flair ups of dandruff which cause the itching and the dandruff which ends up in you scrtaching your scalp and the hair loss. ive done a lot of research about the condition on the net from reliabes sources such as the NHS WEBSITE ECT. if you have any questions let me know. check this link out. this is the condition which i probably have as it matches all my symptoms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seborrhoeic_dermatitis so to summarise. do the following. 1) WASH YOU HAIR EVERYDAY OR EVERY ALTERNATE DAY WITH HEAD AND SHOULDERS BUT I WOULD SAY EVERYDAY. 2) DONT DRINK SUGARY FIZZY DRINKS LIKE COKE ECT AS THIS MAKES THE CONDITION WORSE. I KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE. 3) DONT PUT ANY HAIR SPRAYS, GELS IN YOUR HAIR AS THIS WILL MAKE YOUR CONDITION WORSE AND MAKE YOU SCALP ITCH MORE. 4) TRY TO DRINK ALOT OF WATER IE THE RECOMMENDED DAILY AMOUNT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seborrhoeic_dermatitis
  14. im not sure if this topics been doen before. but i was hinking of using my family name becuase its more personal. ie if you had a family name it would be more distinctive then say Singh. most people these days use their family names. so i was wondering is it right that we might all use them. seeing as most people do.
  15. http://www.merinews.com/catFull.jsp?articleID=127015# i think the above news article relates to the boy who 'converted' to Sikhsim. for a marriage.
  16. i think this is what happenes when these days. girls are trying to be slutier then each other . its like a competion. they think if they dress like this then theyll get attention. i think girls are changing. they are doing worse stuff then some boys would do. the only way to combat it. is bring them up better. parents shouldnt allow them to dress like that. they shound know their bounderies at a young age. not like muslims though. who beat their own daughter up for the slightest thing.
  17. exactly. i think most of the fights on here are pointless. we Sikhs need to stick together not fight each other.
