  1. We thought Nitnem was preparing us for the battle. But Nitnem was the battle! Gurbani is the spiritual dentist. We have the Truth decay!! Those who do Bhagthi become real preachers. Those who just preach become Pandits! Want a free trip to SachKhand? Read all about it in Guru Granth Sahib Jee!! To fear the change of becoming a Sikh... Is to fear the change of becoming God-like. It's amazing what Sikhs could accomplish if they didn't worry about who becomes the Jathedaar at the end. Punjabis always look for a new appearance. They don't realise that what they really need is a "faith" lift! You ignored your true friend. Yet the false ones hurt you everyday. Want to measure your virtues? ....How many are useful to others? Singhs are true spiritual warriors. Either change your name or your attitude! You owe everyone your Gurmat knowledge in the same way your received it. Our Gurdwaras are neither alive nor dead. Perhaps they're sleep walking! Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in hell. Judging by their behaviour, neither do most Punjabis Hate where you were born? Hate your life? Get a new one. Amrit!! The mission of the Sikhs gained ragis and leaders but quickly lost the mission! When Vaheguru wants to make a Gursikh, He will make them without your aid or mine!! Open your heart to the True Guru. True love will then open your mind. Lifes obstacles are a blessing to get closer to Vaheguru! Our leaders and ragis don't lead a l ife of lies. They just sing and preach them at our Gurdwaras. Sikhi parchaar is not our goal. Worship is. Parchaar exists because worship doesn't. ============================================================== Taken from www.sikhitothemax.com

  5. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I came across a new website recently and I wonder what the sangat's views are? To explain a little about the background, the singhs had set up a football team and there were "inter-Gurdwara" matches being held. The forum originally only had topics about the results of these matches and player profiles. After the post by "a little concerned", these posts were all deleted by the mods. :T: Check out the new forum and please post your thoughts, either here or on the forum itself. http://pub37.bravenet.com/forum/3132627493/ vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!

  10. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! 11. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! If anyone knows the organisers, there is a humble benti that next time if they could also inform the Glasgow youth about upcoming programs - not many people knew about this rensabhai until I read about it here!!! Communication would be nice as some of us were thinking of attending the Bradford camp (also on that weekend). Please communicate upcoming rensabhais to ALL 4 Gurdwaras in Glasgow - not just the one where it's being held!! Inspite of all the awful Glasgow politics, we really do have some great sangat, so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bless us with your darshan - the LAST rensabhai (in May) was a bit short of sangat!! 12. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! It's probably the most hypocritical thing in the world for me to answer this topic, but I'm gonna put my 2 cents worth in anyway 1. Despite the fact that i still have doubts, the ultimate truth is that suicide is DEFINATELY against Sikhi 2. We as sikhs are NOT suicide bombers! I personally don't think a suicide bomber could be called a shaheed. Think of Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaaj - He could have killed Jahangir, but preferred to sacrifice His own life to teach us what I have come to regard as the most important but most difficult lesson in Sikhi - accepting Guru's Hukam in pain or pleasure. In the same way, Dhan dhan Guru Gobind Singh Jee did not kill Aurangzeb - anyone He did kill was in pure self-defence. I'm not saying do not stand up to enemies of the Panth, but let's keep the compassion there as well and only fight/kill as a last resort. Bhul chook maaf if I have said anything to offend vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  13. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! First of all, most vegetarians ARE prone to anaemia because iron is mainly found in red meat etc. As to supplements, a simple iron supplement is best - there's no point using a vitamin supplement as well unless you don't eat enough fruit/veg! If you're from uk, ask in a pharmacy for "ferrous sulphate tablets" - they dont have a gelatin coating as far as i know! They come in packs of 100 and the dose is usually just one a day. Hope this helps vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  14. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I dunno whether that particular story was true or not, but this DOES happen, believe me it does! It may not always be physical, sometimes mental abuse is harder to take, and Bibi's are not exactly encouraged to speak out - most "older Gursikhs" say that it is between husband and wife and therefore they wont get involved (especially when the guy is a prominant person in the Gurdwara) Just my experience when trying to deal with a similar situation - maybe it's not like that everywhere though....... Bhul chook maaf vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  15. It's the funny things that kids come out with that crack me up! I take a Sakhi class every week and I've been telling people for years that I should give it up. This is one reason why! I had timed it so that I finished all Guru Nanak Dev Ji;s Sakhis in time for the Gurprub. On the day before the Gurprub, I asked the kids why we celebrate Guru Sahib's birth. The answer I finally got (after phrasing the qn 6/7 times) was "coz He taught us things about.......things" :| In an attempt to get them to expand what they meant, I said that I was telling them sakhis about Guru Sahib, so how come we don't celebrate my birthday. I got told: "well bhenji, Guru Sahib was special, you aren't!" The kids just don't like me  :D
  16. Lil kids are soooooooo sweet!! I was helping out at a summer camp last year and we were trying to focus on Naam and the power you get from Naam. Well, at the end of the day, a 6 yr old Singh said to a 4 yr old "I'm gonna be a monster and frighten you" The girl thought for a while and then said, with her hands on her hips "well monsters are scared of Vaheguru, so VAHEGURU." She then stomped off in an apparent huff!! (i guess she just didn't want to play). I just couldn't stop laughing! But it's when the kids are loving that it's really nice I had a bad day (you know how it is) and in the evening I went to the Gurdwara. Well, i totally messed up the Sakhi class i was supposed to be doing (that made everyone else smile!!) so we decided to do Simran early. Neway, when we were having Langar, this wee Singh (7yrs old) came up 2 me and said "Bhenji are u ok" and then gave me a really big hug. It was so sweet, simply because everyone else just thought "she's having a bad day - let's leave her alone". It's the innocent wee kids that make me smile the most.
  17. I don't agree with what my parents are saying at all lol. All I was saying was that this MAY be one reason why girls don't come on forums. I personally have never watched a bollywood film in my life, I hate shopping, dont wear make up and with Guru Sahibs kirpa, will not "fall in love" with anyone! For me, following Guru Sahib's rehit as much as I can is vital. But, some of the older "indian" generation just don't see it things the way we do and that may be why some girls who are really interested in Sikhi do not actually come forward. Just a thought...........
  18. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Yeah I see your point Vicky Bhaji. Maybe it's just my family though, but I quite often get told that as a singhnee, it's not right for us to be on websites/forums etc coz they're are a lot of men on and we might "fall in love, get influenced by Singhs" etc. Maybe that's why there are so few Bibis here and in other aspects of sikhi (or is it just me that thinks like this? ) vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  19. LOL some of these are hillarious  I got asked at work today by a customer "I never knew girls wore turbans as well, does this mean you cant accept you're a girl and wanna be a guy?" :D    weird or what????
  20. um.... 2nd daft qn : How do you contact the mods? when you click on moderating team, it says that it's all done by gupt sevadaars, which is great, but of no help to me!
  21. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Ok - i'm TRYING to change my e-mail address in my settings, but havn't managed to do it! Can anyone who is not as stupid as me help? vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  22. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! WOW kool pics! I dont tie a dumalla myself, but here's a link to a pic of 5 amazing Singhs just chillin' out! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/avtar.singh53...2003/680359.htm vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  23. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Let's go back to basics - what does the word "Vaheguru" actually mean? From my very limited understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) Vah means great Gu is darkness Ru is light So saying Vaheguru, we are saying "that being who takes us from darkness to light is great". I don't see Vaheguru as a name, i see it as a description! Let's not argue over every little thing - the point is to meditate on our Great Creator in whatever way we can! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  24. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Thing is, everyone has a different lifestyle, everyone is an individual, so what is best for one person is not necessarily best for everyone. Just taking an example, when I do Simran, I find it easier to concentrate if the Simran is done on the vaja, at a fairly fastish speed, with tabla and loads of chainai (if ur into jathas, then that's probably akj style ). But I've got many friends who prefer slow, peaceful simran without vaja/tabla etc. The way I see it is that neither of us are "wrong", but we need to respect that we are all at different stages and Guru Sahib has blessed us all with an individual understanding of Gurbani and Gursikhi. Guru Sahib said to have "prem" and i think that's the most important quality of a Gursikh. Who are we to judge others for following what they believe is right? How do we know that what we understand of Gurbani is the "correct" interpretation? I can't say about anyone else, but I'm certainly not knowledgeable enough to have a good understanding of Gurbani - I just do what "feels right" for me. I don't see a problem with different jathas SO LONG AS THEIR AIM IS SAME - BANI AND SIMRAN AND BANI AND SIMRAN!! To me, well, it's just taking a different route to the same ultimate goal! Sorry if I've offend ed anyone, but it's very upsetting to keep seeing gursikh fighting over so-called "sikhi issues" when we should be following GURbani - the GURU'S teachings! We need to go back to basics - daya (compassion). What is the point in arguing over these small issues (and let's be honest, 99% of the disagreements arejust plain daft! How many banis should we do in the morning, what style of dastaar is best etc etc) Let's just all do simran and bani and leave the rest up to Guru Jee. If someone is straying, then encourage them to read more bani and do more simran - don't try and force them to do things a certain way if it's not right for them. And in our daily ardaasaan, please let's pray for daya and ekta in the panth. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
