  1. Fateh. ... Dont distort bani. I replied cos i was asked where it says abt idols.... I do get out when and where needed. You are clearly missing the point here. Perhaps you dont want to admit. You start a tradition - it will get manipulated How many statues have been established of our sikh leaders in the past 300 years? So why and where this new trend And the point here is - FFWD to another few 100 years; and then think. Statues (Worshiped or not) will be a norm at this rate. Statues of kings is another point.... Art is great. Look at Zafarnama and many other religious writings - full of art.... Art is different. However moving this to Statues is a very different point. You have ppl going and putting rakhri on SGGS ji - same happens on the statues - is that not worship.
  2. Fateh hence i did not quote the shabads merely pointed out where it is banned within SGGS The point I was making: Would future generations not starting seeing Idolism as a norm. Why start something which is clearly banned in our religion.
  3. oh and Ang 1160 and 739 Infact you should research SGGS to find out more and enlighten us Also refer to the Sakhis of Bhai Bhairo and Bhagat Sadhna! Fateh . . .
  4. Fateh Friendly stranger - pls refer to Ang 556 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji... You will notice idolism is clearly banned. Statue / Image depends on defintion Coming back to my main points - seems no one has any views. Fateh . . .
  5. Fateh In the recent news you have probably seen the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bhadhur being put up in India and in the UK. At one hand I am in owe of people who are remembering our Heros; however at the same time my comment is on the establishment of the Statues. Baba Banda Singh Bhadhur started currency but used Guru's name on the currency rather than his own; then why establish statues for him Take this forward a few generations do the future generations will start considering Statue Establishment in Sikhism a norm; where as it has been clearly banned. I raise eyebrow at the leaders who are supporting this. What are your views on this. Fateh . . ..
  6. Sorry if i wasnt clear It is not SAROOPS It is the Saropas. I do wear them as small keski but ..... hope that clarifies. Fateh
  7. Fateh I get saropas from gurudwara's whilst visiting India. I use these and have been using for a long time. Some of these are really old and worn now. What do you guys generally do with these which are used? Fateh . . .
  8. Fateh Thanks to all your comments. However I stick with my point. Who has a parkash of maharaj at home or on a manji sahib. You need 2 rumalas. 1 x under and 1 x over. I have clearly stated I can not sew, so need to go an get one from the shops. the point here is that the shops (sikh shops) only sell 1 x rumala + 1 x palkan; This is what I am highlighting. What should be done on this to change this to 2 x Rumalas. Thanks Fateh...
  9. Fateh . . . . Rumala Issue I had to go and get a Rumala for Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. I cant sew so had to go and get one. All places have Rumala’s as 2x Plakan, and 1 x Rumala. Whereas the need for Rumala is 2 x Palkan, and 2 x Rumala (1 for under and 1 for over). I did resolve this by buying 2 sets however don’t need 2 x palkan …. Why do Sikh shops sell these as as 1 x Rumala where as the need for any of Maharaj’s Prakash requires 2 x Rumalas. No wonder the Gurudwaras are saying don’t give so many Rumala’s as we are overstocked. Perhaps the real reason is that the Gurudwaras cant make use of these 1x Rumala sets. Fateh
  10. Fateh . . . Very true... there is a lowering of standards in all aspects and we (including me) seem to be ignoring all of this. In turn if we look at the rehat maryada it seems to be cut and getting shortened over the time. For example Take the Damdami taksal detailed rehat maryada it states every single detail on how the protocol should be adhered to. Similarly there should be one from Akal Takhat but the available one is a much shorter version just highlighting matters rather than discussing in detail. My concerns were on how to improve this. The committee members seem to be turning a blind eye to all of this. I have gone and spoken to the stage secretary on various occasions on what my observations were, but the response is a recorded version of "kaka dont worry, mein dekh lenda" There needs to be some education on this. How.... welcome your thoughts. Fateh . . .
  11. Fateh.... Thanks Mer Khalon.... Veer ji...it is not a matter of who is the more humble It is more of a concern on what and how the protocol should be adhered to These may be minor things but we should be keeping the utmost respect esp whilst being in gurudwara (and other places as well) and I noticed that these are not being followed. Suggestions on how to get these improved will be highly appreicated. Talking to the Gurudwara committee doesnt go anywhere. They are present in the gurudwara most of the time and surely ignore this. Fateh .. .
  12. Fateh… A few points on Gurudwara protocol: Appreciate your thoughts/comments and constructive feedback on if I am right in the first place, and how some of these can be improved. 1. Basant: We have any traditional gurudwara in India, where a basant raag shabad is recited at the beginning of kirtan. However I notice that in the UK and USA the ragis don’t follow this. Even ragis who are from India (including Hazoori Ragis) tend to forget this when they are in the West. Should a basant raag shabad not be recited in the west during the months of Jan – Mar. 2. Prashad: In many traditional gurudwaras when serving prashad, the bata is covered with a cotton white cloth to preserve cleanliness, barkat etc… However in the west this is somewhat forgotten where you notice the beard of the Prashad Service Sewadar is flowing into the Bata. Again should this not be followed. 3. The ragis doing kirtan in 3’s generally tend to be a sole key ragi; where the ragi on the side most of the times hardly is a mere presence to fill the numbers. It is our highest purest form which you are reciting; should you not pay more attention and really learn how to do kirtan rather than just sitting pretending. 4. Mobile Phones: Most Ragis now use the mobile phone to read a shabad. Phone sits on the baja. The requirement for Harminder Sahib ragi used to be that he should know at least 400 shabads from heart. If we are reciting Gurbani from reading from phone, vs from our mind, it clearly shows. Esp as there is a hukamnama from Akal Takhat prohibiting use of mobile phones. Yes this is clearly violated by the Ragis. How do we enforce this for the others. Again the above are just observations which I think are taking us away from our basic protocol which is being breached. I will highly appreciate your thoughts /comments on this with a view of Am I correct in the above, if yes then how do we go on about improving this. Fateh . . . .
  13. Fateh I am looking for a good recording of Bhai Karanvir Singh UK - Chaupai Sahib Looked around but cant find a decent recording.. Any help appreciated Fateh . . . .

  15. I fancy a cup of tea now ;-) However it is not tea time yet..... Can I still have a cup of tea?
  16. Fateh 1. You will have withdrawl symptons if you tried to leave caffeine. It will take up to 28 days for these symptons to disappear. 2. How about drinking a non-addictive tea. For Example Khlasa Tea ;-) http://www.khalsaherbals.com/herbal-tea.htm
  17. Veer ji Thank you! !!!! Fateh . . .
  18. Thanks for your help. It was on Sanagt TV and the showinng was in UK. The program wrongly or rightly was titled as The Sikh Helpline Show. I did try to attach the pic.... and trying again
  19. Fateh . . . There was AKJ on Sanagat TV pn Sangat TV from 9.30pm to 10. During this the shabad recited was " To So Na Nath, Annath Na Mo Sar" Would anyone have a full recording of this. Apologies as I do not know the name of the Ragi Singh..... However attached a pic and I can upload a brief video if required. Does anyone has audio/video recording of this kirtan. Guru Fateh.... this was on Sangat TV on Fri 11 Sep - 9.30pm UK time.
  20. Veer ji Thanks for these videos. But they still dont answer my query. Fateh . . .
  21. Fateh... You beat me to it on posting this. Yes saw this movie,,,, there are some scenes which are questionable. And I wanted the ppl on this forum to watch the movie and share their views. But realistically is there any point in reporting to sky I have said this previously we need to be proactive and stop this happening. Being reactive after the movie is made and being shown/already shown does not give us any benefit. It all comes down to our main institutes who are busy in their own agenda rather than doing anything. Fateh . . . . .
  22. Fateh . . . The Banis which are in the nitnem are in the Guru Granth Sahib ji Japji Sahib, Anand Sahib, Rehras Sahib, and Kirtan Sohila. When we recite Japji Sahib, and Anand Sahib we also read the Salok at the end “Pavan Guru Pani Pita….” We also read this Salok at various other times such as Bhog, and reading of many banis. 1. Why do we read this salok at the end, as it does not follow the way it is in Sri Guru Granth Sahib? 2. For Kirtan Sohila some places such as Nanaksar read the salok, but then why do we not read this at the end of Rehras Sahib? Just curious to find out… Appreciate guidance. Fateh..
  23. Fateh . . . With the current Syriand Refugee crisis, it is a good gesture on the West to accomodate and provide asylum where required. The reason for the West to do so is that they claim and understand that this human migration is due to the attacks caused by the West. As it has been admitted by the UK Govt, that they were also involved in the 1984 Saka, is it prudent to state that the same Asylum seeking rights should also apply to Sikhs from Panjab. Understand that there was some asylum granted on political asylum to some sikhs but I am talking a mass move here. Comments and Views pls Fateh . . . .
  24. Fateh Just to highlight a few points: - In Hinduism, even today it not permitted to marry outside your caste (i.e. Pandit to Pandit). - In Muslim religion, If a Muslim marries into another religion, the partner will need to make a promise to bring the children according to Islam. - In christanity, Marriage outside the catholic church is a sin. - In Parsi,..... same - In Jews,...... Same..... every religion is the same… exempting buddhism where the views of Mahatma Gautam towards marriage in whole are somewhat different. (No disrespect intended). So what the h*LL is wrong with our lot? Why insist on this stupid argument which dont hold any substance. If you knew about sikhism you wont have to argue with the Gurudwara Commitee to tell them to you what a sikh is. Derisory gone down to another level... Moorakh nall na loojiye…. Unless .. you don’t want to be a Moorakh but then Gur bin gayan no hoyi…… No matter what rules you make..... somone will try to break that rule and create another havoc…. Fateh. . . . ..
  25. Fateh . . . . I am not against TPV. As stated before, I used to like them. Notice Used Sending a junior member to a tv debate (who didnt know how to challenge); down to the recent incident of depending on false or incorrect information.....come on.... if you are sticking your neck out on name of Religion, then pls be prepared. Next time I see Jagraj SIngh, I will be keen to have a discussion with him and understand his point of view.... Fateh . . . .
