  1. Leaving literature aside some Sikhs even went as far as to suggest Guru Granth Sahib needing "editing".
  2. RSS strength was more in what is known as Haryana today. When Partition was announced Lahore was not included in either country. The Muslims in Lahore where they were majority started to burn the Hindu and Sikh Mohallas to force them out and claim Lahore for themselves. This started reprisals in Amritsar. But the keyto all the Panjab violence was what happened to the Sikhs in Rawalapindi in March 1947.
  3. It makes me wonder how they managed it so easily, as when writing their earlier reports on Panjab they noticed how education here was far more advanced and widespread than in England and India. Although after conquest they claimed that there was little education to speak of. The prophecies of the white man in hats coming to rule may have had something to do with it.
  4. It stemmed from how Sikhi was looked at. When the colonials came they looked at it through their western eyes. Their framework for education and research is structured was structured to this. Sikhi is not a complete rejection of anything. It stands alone in its own right but shares some concepts with other religions. That doesn't make those religions totally false or Sikhi some kind of copy of those religions. Naam, dan and Ishnaan existed from the creation. These are core concepts of Sikhi. So is the tawhid of islam totalli in accordance with gurmat. The coloniials didn't spread their thoughts in english. You know that yes? The SS movement was a reaction to the activities of the arya Samaj in Panjab. The harder and louder they insisted the Sikhs were Hindus, the more the Sikhs began to purge their texts and practices of anything that was done also by the Hindus. Even today some still have this mentality, over the Bikrami calendar. It was used by the Hindus, we are not Hindus so therefore we "need" our own calendar and we split ourselves as a panth even further. The committee was created to standardise the Granth. This again was a western concept. Standardisation and uniformity. Around this period the "Sikh" was standardised as well as the Granths. It also happened with Guru Granth Sahib as well. There were different saroops with different banis after Mundavni. This was looked at later and we have SGGS as we know it today. Yet the RSS quote extensively from SGGS to show that the Sikhs are Hindus, and none from Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth Sahib. ASk yourself why. OK, you say this but then say... You have made very bold assertions that the indian government can tie in the SIkhs with Hindus because of Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth Sahib but then say you don't know much about it. That is intellectual dishonesty. If you are not sure, then ask questions, do research, not come out with statements. Without malice, you have made yourself look very silly on this topic, not because of your knowledge about it, but the way you have approached it here.

  6. they removed it because of their ignorance about it. But if the Panth were to make calls for the Parkash to be restarted then it would solve a lot of things. It's a long shot but one that would have a very positive outcome if it were to succeed. Or even use it as a matta in the next SGPC elections.
  7. These rats cannot be convinced. The onus is for as many Sikhs and Gurdwaras to counter their parchar, (which is very vigorous online) by having talks on Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth. One thing that definitely help is if SGPC starting doing parkash of this Holy Granth at Takhts as was done before they took over. This would introduce wider sangat to Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth. The other thing is to give free literature on the Holy Granth as well. Plus IMO no Granthi, katha vachak, kirtani, sikh leader should be allowed to speak from any Gurdwara until they have confirmed with gurdwara committee that they fully believe in Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth.

  9. Ask yourself why he needed to state it in the first place, if he is stating the obvious. There it is. It's pornography if it's intention is to arouse sexual feelings in someone. Sri CharitroPakhyan Granth is not intended to do that. People who can only see some words and not beyond, get stuck on these words? Why? Because they have the same vikaar in their mind to begin with. Only a person obsessed with pornogrphy would describe Sri CharitroPakhyan as such. Just like your mentor and inspiration Khushwant Singh did. he used the same words for this granth, and you could see where his mind was at from his own writings. OUR Master of the beautiful written word and poetic verse has done just that. He has given us a Granth to make us think so deeply about our own behaviour and interaction with others but wrapped a layer of intrinsic covered intellect and wisdom under a cloak of base human desires to discern the wheat from the chaff. Why would you be ashamed to use words from Guru Granth Sahib such as the ones i have listed above? Are you now feeling ashamed of Guru Granth Sahib and Guru Nanak Dev Ji's literary magic? Come on West London Singh Sahib! You dare to insult your Guru's intentions? It isn't the Guru who lacked in writing skills (in either Granth) but man's own lack of understanding. It again brings me back to the use of the words in Guru Granth Sahib. Couldn't Guru Nanak Sahib have found other words than breasts and nipples? Don't throw "large chunks of the Sikh population" in our face. You haven't taken any poll into this and neither have I. People who I have personally interacted with, are aware of the use of words in Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth but totally unaware of the same words in Guru Granth Sahib. They could use the same argument you have used above. "How could Guru Nanak Dev Ji use such words?" couldn't they?
  10. Correct. You have to take into account the context in which some words are used. SGGS mentions the Hindu Gods many times over as does Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth, but both in the same context, as creations of, and subservient to, Sri Akal. You can't use one law of interpretation in one granth and then use another for the other.
  11. No, my brother, because I have not stated that it says that in SGGS. I said and I will repeat it here again: "Jagsaw feels that some parts of Sri Dasme Patshah's Granth cannot be discussed with his wife and children because of the words used, whereas the same words are used in Guru Granth Sahib." If you go back to my earlier post you will see it there what exactly is written in SGGS.

I want to highlight the fact that Guru Sahib has used the word "<banned word filter activated>" or "ਭਗ" in Guru Granth alongside the words "breasts" and "nipples".   13. What Sikhs do you know who read the HIndu scriptures? The Vedas, Purans, Simritis? Or worship Ram, Vishnu? Which scriptures are these? From Guru Granth Sahib: ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ਸਹੰਸਰ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਰੋਆਇਆ ॥ Given the charity of a thousand , Indra cried in shame. ( a thousand what?) ਪਰਸ ਰਾਮੁ ਰੋਵੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ Paras Raam returned home crying. Guru reveals all: ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਦਖਣੀ ॥ Prabhaatee, First Mehl, Dakhnee: ਗੋਤਮੁ ਤਪਾ ਅਹਿਲਿਆ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਲੁਭਾਇਆ ॥ Ahalyaa was the wife of Gautam the seer. Seeing her, Indra was enticed. ਸਹਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਚਿਹਨ ਭਗ ਹੂਏ ਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਪਛੋਤਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ When he received a thousand vaginas on his body, then he felt regret in his mind. ||1|| or: ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ First Mehl: ਉਤੰਗੀ ਪੈਓਹਰੀ ਗਹਿਰੀ ਗੰਭੀਰੀ ॥ O you with swollen breasts, let your consciousness become deep and profound. ਸਸੁੜਿ ਸੁਹੀਆ ਕਿਵ ਕਰੀ ਨਿਵਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਥਣੀ ॥ O mother-in-law, how can I bow? Because of my stiff nipples, I cannot bow. So, as a family man do you talk about vaginas, breasts and nipples with your wife and children?

  16. No-one from media esp is allowed to see Bapu Surat Singh. It was explained on Sikh Channel as well, why there was no further coverage of his case, but only updates every now and then. That video was produced to show that Bapu Surat Singh had abandoned his quest but it was just a propaganda stunt. But don't be quick to criticise. Remember that no-one is stopping you from going to Panjab to fight for Sikh rights.
  17. This Gurdwara was built in 1834 and is about 180 years old. It was built by Bhai Biba Singh, an officer serving under Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa after the Sikhs captured Peshawar.

  22. Nice work. This dhunda is trying to impress the sangat who may not do the research required because they think he a a genuine gyani. Throwing in book names, chapters and verse numbers seems to impress some people a la zakir naik, who comes across the same as he has a photographic memory. The sangat hear these ang numbers and think this guy has a good education on Gurbani. Dhunda and his sangh sabha canada have been a tour of panjab over the last week spreading their ignorance around, and no-one seems to be countering them. We need to be proactive on social media as sangh sabha are using it too well and their fanbase is unfortunately growing.
