Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! We protest against bipran ki reet when we criticise Sikhs who celebrate karva chauth, rakhree/raksha bandan etc because Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaaj says 'Jab Lag Khalsa Rahe Niara, Tab Lag Tej Dioon Mein Sara. Jab Eh Gaye Birpran Ki Reet, Mein Na Karoon In Ki Parteet.' Under article 25 of the Indian constitution, Hindus include Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. Are you celebrating Deepavali (divali) today? Do you prefer the blessings of goddess Lakshmi over Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj's Parteet.. Yeah yeah you didn't mean divali when you said happy divali, you meant happy bandi cchor divas. Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj was the first Guru to secure release of prisoners from Babar's prison. How come we don't celebrate that day? If we want to break free from the shackles of article 25 of the Indian constitution and the constitution in general, we must start by celebrating Bandi Cchor Divas on another day in line with Gurmat? After all we have different dates for Gurpurabs depending on which calendar we follow. SGPC could declare another date to pray for the release of all prisoners still languishing in jails around the world. I realise ive jumped from one point to another and I appologise if ive offended anyone. I'm not saying don't celebrate Bandi Cchor Divas, just saying we need to know what we're celebrating and when. How does Bandi Cchor Divas coincide with Divali? Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaaj was released on Divali day and made it to Amritsar on the same Divali day from Gwalior, south of Agra which today would take one 8hours in a train, in those days 5days atleast on horseback? thats assuming Maharaaj did not stop on way to meet Sangatah who would of course have been greeting and congratulating. So how exactly does Divali and Bandi Cchor Divas coincide? Is this an accurate depiction of Sikh history and an accurate interpretation of Sikh sentiment? Or are some Sikhs so eager to celebrate Divali, and so fervent to want to link Divali to Sikh practice and tradition that they simply had to find or create an incident that is suggested to have happened on or close to Divali day, and use that as a pretext to celebrate? and why do we not celebrate the Bandi Cchor Divas of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj from Babars prison along with the innocent prisoners mostly women and children?! or does that not matter since there was no divali or raksha bandan or karva chauth then?! Why aren’t Sikhs extolled to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj’s Bandi Cchor Divas? Why is there no Deep Maala to commemorate this day? Because it does not coincide with Divali? Or it did not happen close enough to Divali day? Or there was no Harmandar Sahib to be lit up with lamps then? Or simply because this Bandi Cchor provides no pretext for celebrating Divali? We light candles and deevay and fireworks polluting our atmosphere...WHY? is a celebration not complete without them? if this is not Bipran Ki Reet, i dont know what is. I appologise again if ive offended anyone. and if im wrong in what i say, I guess Maharaaj will be the judge of that. but my intention is not to offend anyone. Pul Chuk Muaf Ji. Do you think there is a widening gap of sorts between amritdharis and non-amritdharis? I was reading these comments left on a news site and this person repeatedly called Amritdharis drug sellers etc. It seems he is saying that amrit is not necessary and amritdharis have a violent agenda in wearing the Kirpan. Again if you think about it many non-amritdharis (this is my experience) seem to always say there is no need to wear the Kirpan etc. if u have Bhagti and they seem to stereotype keshdhari and Shastardhari Singhs. What do you think?

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh. I have a plea to make to anyone reading this, this plea is in regards to a Singh living in a foreign country for more than a decade. Singh is tomorrow going to talk with a politician regarding political asylum in his chosen nation. Singh needs official documents regarding what India is doing to Sikhs, that is human rights violation etc. It will be greatly appreciated if reports, and websites which can help Singh prove his point can be provided before 3,0, clock tomorrow. This was confirmed by the above article: "During his training on the rifle ranges, Rifleman Singh has to take off his turban for safety and wear a hard helmet." there are roughly 80 Sikhs in the British army. from over 100,000 fighting with their Dastars to death, to 80 Sikhs willingly replacing their dastars... this is clearly an issue for those to whom the dastar has significance. for those who see it as mere head covering, will willingly replace it for a helmet. But what about our Amritdhari Sikh wanting to join the army or already within the army? perhaps this is why the number of Sikhs is so low? or atleast a contributer. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Cyber sangat ji, basically ive been keeping my kes for about 7months now. My head hair is about 3/4inches long...its taking ages growing lol. My dhara is a few inches long too. Loving every bit of it! Cant wait for it to get longer. I started saja'ing a dastar about 2ish months back, pretty simple gol dastar which is working pretty fine except i'd really like to sajaa a Dumalla. It looks crazy!! Totally beautiful!! Ive been trying with the help of our veers on youtube but they all have 'proper' kes so it doesnt really work for me. My question, is it possible to sajaa a Dumalla with such short kes as in my case? And to my veers who once cut their kes and are now keeping them; what style dastar did you sajaa? What works best? Any tips would be much much appreciated thank you. Secondly, this may seem a daft question but once youve made the decision to keep your kes, how soon after can you take amrit? Like i dont feel 'proper' at the moment because my kes are so short...i would still consider myself a monna although ive not cut my kes in over 7months. I dont intend on taking amrit for atleast a year yet. As soon as i can start keeping rehat properly, I can consider taking amrit. I don't want to take amrit and then find i cant keep rehat or i make a mistake which ill regret right, for example, i love my sleep so if i miss amritvela...etc. Is this the correct thinking? Or should i take amrit and then see where it takes me? Cyber sangat ji, thank you in advance! And i apologise for any phul of mine, incase ive offended anyone. I dont know if anyone has noticed but a lot of the time i see a lot of young sikhs taking on some parts of the glorified gangster culture. This is from the way they dress with low jeans and the latest Yeezy 2 trainers to the way they drive s low down in there cars. But easily the most annoying is the way they speak and type "innit", "wagwan", "gwarnin". Even on this forum you see people giving advice using slang language I myself sometimes easily fall into the trap. But surely we should do something to combat this problem makes us look like a joke.

I was studying Bachitra Natak, i mention here especially about Subh Bansh Barnan Dutiya Adhiyaye and Patshahi Barnan. > :respect: Guru Gobind Singh ji Patshah 10 :respect: has written in Dasam granth Sahib that He belongs to Sodhi Vansh (want to clear here i am just mentioning about Temporal LIneage not Spiritual because Bhagtas have no Vansh, Kull etc. It is same like they have one father i.e god but as we know that Temporal Father of Guru Sahib is Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib so Temporal fact should not be denied....and this is Temporal Fact) which is further continuation of Raghu Vansh (Rama Ji was also born in same vansh but Guru Sahib did not give him much importance, even haven't used word SRI but used RAAM KUMAR for him, just written KAAL PAAYE SUR PUREH SIDHAYO the same like in Guru Granth Sahib it is written RAAM GAYO RAAVAN GAYO) which is further continuation of Suyavansh. > :respect: Khalsa :respect: is son of Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Devan that means Khalsa is also part of same Sodhivanshi <- Raghuvanshi <- Suryavanshi. (Temporal LIneage) > Which means Hindu brothers worship forefathers of Khalsa (like Rama), whom Khalsa treat as Normal Human being (Not God), even in Guru Granth Sahib or like in Dasam Granth it is mentioned (KITEY RAAM SEY MET DAAREY UPAAYE) Note: If Mehta Kalyan was Idol Worshipper Hindu, this does not mean that Baba Nanak was not Temporal Son of him and if some one want to go with Mehta Kalyan Dass thought then let him go but if someone want to go with Baba Nanak's thought then how could we call him Idol worshippers? The above facts in Dasam Granth does not make Khalsa, a Hindu from any side? Does not provoke Khalsa to go for Idol Worship. Does not provoke Khalsa to Do Rama Worship or Krishna Worship etc. I don't know from where Anti Dasam People think that this makes us Hindu? RSS, VHP, etc if say that Sikhs are hindu due to this fact then what is difference between them and anti dasam people? > Fact is that Khalsa is Heritor of Raghu Vansh, and Raghu, Surya etc. who was ruler of most of parts of india upto Afghanistan and even Tazhakitan > Even By this Khalsa is actual heritor(Waaris) of maximum part of land of India. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh ji, I've been attending weddings since ever basically lol typical. But its soon to be my own. So basically someone in the family found/recomended a girl for me to my parents and things got rolling from there. I plan to take Amrit in the near future. I want to get into keeping rehit before i take Amrit so i know i can commit to keeping rehit instead of taking Amrit and then seeing if i can keep it or not. The proposed girl for me is not kesdhari at the moment. I'm hoping here journey will lead her onto this path soon. Now both families are typically punjabi. Hardcore partiers etc. 1) I just want the Anand Karaj to take place, Guru ka Langar and we all go home. I realize this is a dream world fantasy of mine. Does anyone think this could be possible? I dont listen to music, i dont dance drink or eat forbidden food- i dont want all this to take over my own wedding. So can there be a compromise as im pretty sure both families will never agree to a total no party policy. Hows no meat no alcohol and i will not be dancing like a lunitic? Just food, deafening music and people dancing... And when should i make all this clear to the girls family? I think this could potentially be a deal breaker. 2) Is the Kurmai and Chunni ceremony Gurmat? I've seen how the groom is given dried fruits nuts etc in his palla/parna thing and then fed a shuwara/dried date. I don't understand what this represents so am questioning whether this is Gurmat at all. I've seen this take place in the Darbar Sahib. What is this all about? And can I take part in all this? 3) The maiya/mehndi which takes place on the days leading to the wedding. Haldi doh stuff is applied to the groom/bride-to-be. I really dont fancy that. Too intimate and spray on fake tan would do the same job! Pretty sure this is not Gurmat. 4) Groom & Kalgi- this is a no no right? How come this happens all too often? Why is nothing said/explained to sangat before/during the Anand Karaj? And the groom holds a sword- any reason? 5) Can this all work out between me, a kesdhari hoping to soon take Amrit, and a non kesdhari girl? Pul chuk maaf ji.

The Panj Piares were Sikhs before becoming amritdhari so what was the change in them after taking amrit? What was the difference in them? How do we turn different after we take amrit? Vaheguroo jee ka khalsaa vaheguroo jee kee fatehhh I just went to an akj samagam and noticed that the sewadars would block the parkarma while the program began and opened it when it finishes. can some one tell me why this is done. could somebody please explain to my whether or not sikhs are allowed to eat meat or not. i watched a you-tube video where the sikh man (was an american gora) said you should eat whatever you feel like eating. i did other research and it says that sikhs are not allowed to eat halal meat / kosher meat. they can eat jhatka meat. my family says sikhs cannot eat meat as animals are Gods creation and it is disrespectful to eat it. what is the right option?

VJKK VJKF I am a 19 year old boy Sikh living in the UK and I have an issue when it comes to the topic of my dhari. It’s not that anybody says anything to me anymore it’s just that I don’t feel comfortable with it. I don’t feel like myself. I feel have to think twice before I do anything becasue I may give Sikhs a bad name. I feel like a hypocrite. I’ve talked to my family about shaving my dhari and everytime it comes up my Mum gets upset and so does my brother so to keep everyone happy I do what they want me to do and not shave. But I feel that this is emotional blackmail and that in the end I have no choice, I’m being treated like a puppet and they are pulling the strings. To make matters worse my relatives think that me and my brother are really religious and are going to end up being Amritdharis, all because my Mum told them that me and my brother are going to take Amrit. I know that this is the case with my brother as he is into Sikhi and wants to take Amrit, but I am nowhere near ready. Saying this sometimes I do feel comfortable with my dhari. I do understand the importance of Kes, or well at least I think I do. But majority of the time I regret to say that I don’t feel comfortable and that I am keeping it because of my mother. I am in a dilemma. Do I keep my dhari despite being uncomfortable with it just to keep everyone happy and so that relatives don’t say anything to my parents, OR do I do what I want and end up upsetting people? I would appreciate some advice as I am really confused. It’s been like this for 3 years now and is beginning to stress me out. Many thanks in advance. VJKK VJKF

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, The Sikh Naujawan Academy is proud to present TWO GURMAT CAMPS this month. The first is a ONE DAY Gurmat Camp in DUDLEY. The town has not had a Sikh Camp aimed at the youth in over a decade, and this is a positive step forward to ensure that Sikh knowledge and values are passed to the younger generation. The camp will be fun, engaging, challenging and will be an excellent opportunity for the youth to make new friends and enjoy the family atmosphere of the Gurmat Camp. The camp will be held at the One Day SNA Gurmat Camp At Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara (Dudley) 7 Vicar Street, Dudley , DY2 8RQ MONDAY 13TH FEB. 2012 8AM and 6PM and will be followed by a Keertan Darbaar from 6PM - 9PM.
