Who Wants To Help Me Make A Book?

This is just an idea for now, but I think it could work...

I can't get over the fact that there aren't nearly enough resources for Sikh kids to look to and get inspired, get really 'into' Sikhi. I have a little sister at home and she just doesn't want to do her jap ji or simran or ANYTHING. Obviously - she doesn't even understand what it's all about. The kids need something to be inspired by, something that'll keep their interest.

I was thinking along the lines of a kid-friendly picture book. It's more than just a good idea - it's practically neccessary, especiially today, when parents just don't have the time or the desire to take the time to sit down with their kids and talk Sikhi.

Now I know that we already have plenty of picture books based on Sikhi, but if you really look at them they're not very kid-friendly because of the way that they're written. They're hard for young kids to understand, never mind read on their own.

So I was thinking, instead of sitting around and wishing that SOMEONE would make a good-ol modernized sorta picture book, maybe I should start doing this.

So, I know there's alot of talent on this forum. I don't want to go through with this like I did with my story contest and get no where, so I'd like to know that if I DO start this, would anyone be willing to be a part of the project.

Wow, I've gotten a surprisingly good response to this. Thanks so much for the interest, guys.

I've made a new email specifically for ppl interested in helping out with this project, so you can all add me here:

pogo.stick@hotmail.com

Hopefully many of you have msn, because maybe we can all get together and discuss this on msn.

OR, if anyone lives near Dixie Gurdwara, there is a Guru Gobind Singh Children's meeting tommorow @ 4 o'clock to 6. Some of you can meet me there if you want.

Now, I'm just going to ask you guys to state your interests, where'd you like to help out, your talents, something specific you might be good at doing that would help with this project.

For example, LltK says they're good at drawing (by the way, do you think you could show us some of your work, please?). Maybe there's someone out there that is an excellent writer. I'd be willing to write the story, but I'd rrather somebody who is really professional and knows a fair bit about Sikh history to write the story.

So post away! :)
