Video Transfer To Pc

I have just tried and transferred the vdo from the cam coder to the pc using windows movie maker. I choose the highest spcification, and for some reason it takes 5.5 Gb for a 25 min movie. This is quite high. I tried to keep this down but then I loose the quality.

Do you know of any other sware that can help me transfer files but wont take so much space but still keep the quality.

Or is there a way of converting the existing file to something smaller.

10/11 gig for 1 hour is normal for raw avi files. So 5.5gig for 25 minutes sounds ok.

Windows Movie Maker will let you convert to other formats. Open it in movie maker and click on File - save movie file and then one of the screens lets you select other formats.

I think WMM does not support DVD (Mpeg 2), get some software like TMPG Encoder Plus and it will do a good job of converting to MPEG2.
