Millionaire Engineer Held By Punjab Vigilance

Chandigarh, Sep 6 - A millionaire engineer was nabbed by officials of Punjab Vigilance Bureau at Bhagapurana town in Punjab's Moga district Wednesday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

On a raid at the residence of the junior engineer, Sukhdarshan Singh, vigilance officials recovered 1.6 kilograms of gold, Rs 83,000 in cash, a Hyundai Accent car, a motorcycle and a scooter.

The junior engineer, working with the town council of Bhagapurana, was trapped after Moga resident Mohinder Singh complained to the vigilance bureau that the official was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 for the assessment of his construction works.

The official was nabbed while accepting an advance of Rs 20,000. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him.
