ਗਉੜੀ ॥

Ga­oṛī.

Gauree:

ਨਿੰਦਉ ਨਿੰਦਉ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਲੋਗੁ ਨਿੰਦਉ ॥

Ninḏa­o ninḏa­o mo ka­o log ninḏa­o.

Slander me, slander me - go ahead, people, and slander me.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਖਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥

Ninḏā jan ka­o kẖarī pi­ārī.

Slander is pleasing to the Lord's humble servant.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਾਪੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Ninḏā bāp ninḏā mehṯārī. ||1|| rahā­o.

Slander is my father, slander is my mother. ||1||Pause||

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

Ninḏā ho­ė ṯa baikunṯẖ jā­ī­ai.

If I am slandered, I go to heaven;

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਬਸਾਈਐ ॥

Nām paḏārath maneh basā­ī­ai.

the wealth of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within my mind.

ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਧ ਜਉ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

Riḏai suḏẖ ja­o ninḏā ho­ė.

If my heart is pure, and I am slandered,

ਹਮਰੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਧੋਇ ॥੧॥

Hamrė kaprė ninḏak ḏẖo­ė. ||1||

then the slanderer washes my clothes. ||1||

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ॥

Ninḏā karai so hamrā mīṯ.

One who slanders me is my friend;

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਹਿ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਚੀਤੁ ॥

Ninḏak māhi hamārā cẖīṯ.

the slanderer is in my thoughts.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਸੋ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਰੈ ॥

Ninḏak so jo ninḏā horai.

The slanderer is the one who prevents me from being slandered.

ਹਮਰਾ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਲੋਰੈ ॥੨॥

Hamrā jīvan ninḏak lorai. ||2||

The slanderer wishes me long life. ||2||

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

Ninḏā hamrī parėm pi­ār.

I have love and affection for the slanderer.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਮਰਾ ਕਰੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥

Ninḏā hamrā karai uḏẖār.

Slander is my salvation.

ਜਨ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਉ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਰੁ ॥

Jan Kabīr ka­o ninḏā sār.

Slander is the best thing for servant Kabeer.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਡੂਬਾ ਹਮ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥੨੦॥੭੧॥

Ninḏak dūbā ham uṯrė pār. ||3||20||71||

The slanderer is drowned, while I am carried across. ||3||20||71||

ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਤੂੰ ਐਸਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Rājā rām ṯūʼn aisā nirbẖa­o ṯaran ṯāran rām rā­i­ā. ||1|| rahā­o.

O my Sovereign Lord King, You are Fearless; You are the Carrier to carry us across, O my Lord King. ||1||Pause||

ਜਬ ਹਮ ਹੋਤੇ ਤਬ ਤੁਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਬ ਤੁਮ ਹਹੁ ਹਮ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

Jab ham hoṯė ṯab ṯum nāhī ab ṯum hahu ham nāhī.

When I was, then You were not; now that You are, I am not.

ਅਬ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਏਕ ਭਏ ਹਹਿ ਏਕੈ ਦੇਖਤ ਮਨੁ ਪਤੀਆਹੀ ॥੧॥

Ab ham ṯum ėk bẖa­ė heh ėkai ḏėkẖaṯ man paṯī­āhī. ||1||

Now, You and I have become one; seeing this, my mind is content. ||1||

ਜਬ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਤੀ ਤਬ ਬਲੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਅਬ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਲੁ ਨ ਖਟਾਈ ॥

Jab buḏẖ hoṯī ṯab bal kaisā ab buḏẖ bal na kẖatā­ī.

When there was wisdom, how could there be strength? Now that there is wisdom, strength cannot prevail.

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਬੁਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਦਲੀ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੭੨॥

Kahi Kabīr buḏẖ har la­ī mėrī buḏẖ baḏlī siḏẖ pā­ī. ||2||21||72||

Says Kabeer, the Lord has taken away my wisdom, and I have attained spiritual perfection. ||2||21||72||

waheguru ji, was there a story behind this tuk??? i remember long time ago, a gursikh was telling me a story of Bhagat Kabeer ji and someone that had made fun of him, and later he died..but i do not know the full details, can anyone share?
