On the contrary punjabi Farmers are rich . Most of them have given out their lands on thekas and now have baiyyas working on their fields . of couse the income of the punjabi farmer depends on the land holdings which get divided further with each new generation . But you can contemplate the plight of the baiyyas who get treated worse than you can imagine . They are scorned , mistreated and looked down upon .with contempt

That's a huge misconception mundasingh, the only "rich" punjabi farmers are those who sell their land to make kothis to make it look like they're rich.

The truth is, the average punjabi farmer has very little land and depends on it entirely for their living. One flood and the farmer's life can be destroyed.
