The World Sikh Organization (WSO) of Canada's Internship Program 2020 is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students from diverse academic backgrounds to get involved.

WSO will be hiring one (1) paid intern for the summer of 2020 who is a resident in the province of Alberta.

Your placement will begin in mid-July , and will last 8 weeks.

Required to work 35 hours/week remotely.

Must be legally allowed to work Full Time in Canada

As a leader in helping develop and shape the face of third party Sikh advocacy in Canada, our interns work closely with our legal, advocacy, and community development teams.

As an intern, you develop leadership, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills; all of which will help interns to explore different careers, and create a professional network in this fast moving economy.

This paid, professional internship program aims to provide young people with the opportunity to:

Become engaged in issues facing Sikhs in Canada

Gain valuable work experience within a dynamic, mainstream organization

Receive supervision, guidance, and mentorship from a WSO professional

Interns choose to work in one of the following areas during their assignments:

Graphic/Web Design and Community Outreach (1 position

Some of the activities our intern would be involved in include:

Graphic/Web Design and Community Outreach:

Working on creating and designing a consistent brand framework

Creating templates for pamphlets, posters, letterhead, etc

Help with overall design of website

Reach out to community stakeholders and Government officials on specific projects

Please note, that this opportunity is open to all residents of Alberta. There is no requirement for applicants to be Sikh for these positions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Graphic/Web Design and Community Outreach:


The WSO has several different Social Media platforms including, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn as well as a comprehensive website. As a Graphic/Web Design intern, you will help in the delivery and improvement of these digital platforms as well as the creation of photo and video content and materials such as posters and letterheads. The community outreach portion will involve reaching out to Government officials or community stakeholders on specific projects.

Interns should be prepared to receive hands-on experience on any of the following:

Web graphic design 

Social media strategies

Stationary graphic design

Video production and editing

Opportunity to participate in various programs and connect with community stakeholders

The intern will learn the following skills:

Project management

Digital Marketing strategies

Web development optimization

Critical analysis, problem-solving and decision making

Time management

Organizational and administrative

The candidates will have:

Graphic design experience (intern requires having a software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)

Strong oral and written communication skills

Excellent attention to detail and follow through

Excellent planning & organizational skills

Fluency in Punjabi (understanding, speaking, and writing) will be considered an asset
