Dont know whether this has been posted before, but if this is true then the Singhs may need our support and may just be the government of India targeting random Singhs in cases.
City men arrested over India murder
Michael Green Share19 July 2010
DETECTIVES made arrests in Coventry this week in connection with a murder in India.
The arrests resulted from the investigation into the murder of Rulda Singh, who was gunned down outside his home in the Punjab in July 2009. Mr Singh, who later died in hospital, was a prime mover in the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, an organisation which works to unite Hindu society and spread its culture.
Indian police arrested and later charged Jagmohan Singh and Darshan Singh, natives of Bassi Pathana, with Mr Singh's murder. The pair were accused of having links with Babbar Khalsa International, a Sikh Extremist Group.
Reports in India have suggested the murder was linked to Sikh organisations in Britain, and detectives from the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) travelled to India in April to launch an investigation into a possible link.
This week, the CTU joined forces with West Midlands Police to make four arrests in connection with Mr Singh's murder. Two men were from Coventry, while the others were arrested in Smethwick and Wolverhampton.
Following the arrests, detectives only revealed the men were all aged between 27 and 36-years-old.
Det Supt George Tracey, from the CTU, said: "We have been working closely with the Indian authorities on this matter.
"The investigation into the death of Mr Singh is complex and ongoing both here and in the Punjab."
The four men have been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
